Need a HDD Caddy for my Ultrabay, any recommendations? Currently thinking about the newmodeUS models, but some pretty cheap ones on amazon....but just don't want to get a bad one.

Thanks for the notes. I decided not to risk it and went with the newmodeUS caddy. Yes, probaly overpaid, but the piece of mind that it WILL work, was worth it for me.

Go to Solution.I bought this one: 9.5mm Bezel SATA 2nd HDD Hard Drive caddy bay for T400s T500 T410s X200 43N3412. It's a copy of the real thing but it fits and works perfectly in my T430s.

Hard Drive Bay (Caddy) and drive for T430
Very confused about what the recommended HDD Caddy for T430 is. (to swap DVD drive with a 2nd HDD)
Also, is there a non Lenovo HDD that works with this? 1 TB drive preferred.
Thanks.Ultrabay caddies come in two thicknesses, 12.7mm for T430 and T530 (0A65623), and 9.5mm for T430s (43N3412.)
You can buy these from Lenovo or you can get "clone" caddies quite inexpensively on eBay, e.g. 9.5mm Bezel SATA 2nd HDD Hard Drive caddy bay for T400s T500 T410s X200 is $10 for a 9.5mm unit. This is what I have in my T430s. A 9.5mm caddie will fit into your T430 but will leave a small gap at the top. You can search to see what 12.7mm caddies are available.
I haven't tested the clone caddies with HDDs larger than 500GB. There's no reason they won't work. Note that the HDD must be no thicker than the caddy in order to fit physically. Since you have a T430 with 12.7 Ultrabay opening this shouldn't be an issue for you either.

Hello,
Sorry for all the pestering, but I was hoping that the good people on this forum could help me out with yet another thing. I am looking into buying an ultrabay caddy to stick my hdd for an old notebook into my new T500 (SSD).
What is the difference between the first HDD adapter listed on the Lenovo site and the ultrabay III option?
And is there any way someone can confirm that this would be a genuine purchase?
http://cgi.ebay.com/2nd-hard-HDD-Caddy-Adapter-For-Thinkpad-T400-T500-W500_W0QQitemZ360198319171QQcm...The e-bay one doesn't look right. Pull out your DVD drive - there is a piece of plastic that sticks out at the end of the drive that slipps into the machine. My ulatrabay slim adapter III also has that. The version II was designed for T400/T500, version III has a slightly different bezel shape to match the T400s exactly. It looks/works fine in my T400 - just angled a bit rather than flat. Not sure what the first one on the lenovo site is.

T440p Ultrabay caddy HDD rails/spacer
I bought the official Lenovo Ultrabay IV caddy for my T440p but apparently I need a spacer to ensure the HDD does not move around in it. Currently there's a 3mm gap on all sides of the HDD. Can someone point me in the right direction?
The HDD is a Travelstar 7K1000, so it's exactly the right size for the caddy (2.5", 9.5mm). I tried the plastic surround from the main drive bay, but even that allows a slight bit of movement, which is obviously a no-no for a mechanical drive. I'm at a loss what I'm supposed to use, short of literally jamming some strips of plastic in the gaps.Great hdd you've got. Just use some dual sided tape and your problem is solved. Snag a small roll for a buck at the dollar store. More importantly, why did you spend $70 on the "official" Lenovo caddy when they are $9 on ebay?

Hello all,
i'm looking for an Ultrabay adapter for HDD to extend my Z60m-system.
At the lenovo-website, I found an adapter that sould, according to the description, fit into my system.
Ultrabay Adapter
Has anyone experience with this model?
My second question is: What is the maximum HDD-size (GB) that can I use there?
In the specifications of the Z60-models, I found the information, that the system is limited to a maximum HDD-capacity of 100GB, or did I misunderstand that?
Hard drive features:
Standard 40GB, 60GB, 80GB, or 100GB hard drive sizes
Specifications Z60
Do I have to consider this restriction at the "primary HDD-Slot" AND the Ultrabay-HDD-Slot ?
Thank you.
Geetings
Cypherthe Z60 uses SATA hdd, so anything in 2.5 inch and 9.5 mm thickness format is okay, currently 640 gig is the largest.
Lenovo's figure are based on the largest hdd that was available when they released the machine, they don't update these value when new parts come out.

I have a MBP 4,1 (MB166, 17" Early 2008), this is the last style before apple went to unibody.
I'm looking for a 2nd HDD caddy for my comp, all the ones I am finding are only for unibody! Wondering if anyone knows a place to get a pre-unibody one, thanks!Do some research on this one. It's listed to fit the 4.1 (and even earlier PowerBooks): http://www.powerbookmedic.com/DualDrive---Add-a-Second-Hard-Drive-to-your-Laptop -p-17316.html

Is it possible to purchase a new Hard Drive Caddy for the Mini nb205? I just received my nb205 in the mail today, and I have an SSD that I would like to put in, so I took the stock HD out. The screws that attach the caddy to the HD were screwed in so tight, I stripped 3 of the screws.
I would also love to buy a replacement one. I stripped one of them, tried several ways to remove it including a screw extractor with no chance.
Installed the SSD without it, but I still want a replacement caddy to make it safer.
UPDATE: I was finally able to remove the stripped one. Used a larger drill bit on the screw and then used a square-type (I don't know what it's actually called) screwdriver. It looks like I didn't break anything on the Toshiba HDD, but didn't test it to be honest... -
Hello,
Today I've received my Ideapad S10e (the SSD-Version NS846GE9). Now I'd like to install a hdd into the empty slot, but I've noticed that there's no caddy to tighten the hdd in the slot. In the other Ideapad Versions I saw a caddy which is holding the hdd.
My question is: Is it usual that there is no caddy in the hdd slot in the SSD version? Where can I get a caddy for my Ideapad? Do the caddies from the Thinkpads fit in? Because then I would buy one since I cant find any caddy for Ideapads.

Hi
Recently I've been starting to look around for new battery for my laptop mounted in ultrabay. When I got to know that there is no such accessories for T410 I was.... pretty surprised. Could anyone confirm this information? What do I do then? I don't want to buy new 9-cell battery. Is ultrabay battery for T410s or T400 fit to T410? Thanks for replies
T420s type 4171-7FUthere is also the extra 9 cell battery slice that you can put in addition to the 6 cells battery, this is substantially more battery power than the ultrabay battery.

Recommended docking station for T430
Searched Lenovo.com but it has no specific listings for T430. Looking for a dock that would give me a dual monitor setup.
Also, I only have the integrated HD4000 card, can I still get dual video from the dock?
thanks!RedEd12 wrote:
This docking station should be compatible with your T430: ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 It doesn't list the T430 but I am showing it to be compatible. Your HD4000 card should be able to support two monitors as well.
There are four other docks that should work with the T430:
• ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 – 4337-10U
• ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 with USB 3.0 – 4337-15U
• ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 – 4338-10U
• ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 – 4338-15U
As I understand it the regular docks have 1 VGA, 1 DVI and 1 DisplayPort while the Plus version has 1 VGA, 2 DVI and 2 DisplayPort. In all cases however you can only use any two of the ports at the same time to drive two external displays. So you would need the Plus version only if you wanted to use 2 of the same port type simultaneously.

Caddy for secondary Harddrive in MBP
My advise for using a caddy for MBP 2012 []i7 []16mb; primary drive 750gb; Secondary 1T(now) 128gb SSD(Before)
The result from after 6months of using a secondary hd for the macbook Pro, I arrived at the conclusion as unreliable for keeping anything you needed for safe keeping.
A. should not be used as a backup drive for data of necessary
B. Should be use as a trash can.
C. Death Cab for Caddy (since it is created a oneway system of dropping data without able to retrieve and backup/dead SSD 1/ Saved Data 0)and as most unbelievable things its not true, you can still replace the SSD on both the retina and non retina macbooks. Ram in the only thing you cant replace because of it being soldered (on the retina only).
The ssd in the retina is proprietary so we have to wait for someone to release a compatable module, but it does infact unscrew and come out.
The non-retina macbooks should be as upgradable (hdd and ram wise) as much as the 2011 edition. -
Keyframe Caddy for CS6 Extension Error
I've been trying to install Keyframe Caddy for Flash CS6 for the last 3 days. I keep getting an error that says the following:
You are about to install the extension, 'Keyframe Caddy'. The publisher of the extension can not be verified, because the security certificate used by this extension has not been verified by a recognized authority. Are you sure you want to install this Extension?
I installed it and went into Flash to enable it and it doesn't show up. Haven't found a way to fix this yet. I've searched everywhere. Hopefully someone here knows how to help me out with this dilemma.I think this one is a panel, not a Command. Have you tried Window>Other Panels?

Bios Update to reduce fan speed at first level for t430s planned?
As everybody here now about the hight rpm of fan at first level (ca. 3000rpm). Lenovo changed that with bios update e.g. for T430. As I notice T430s has no update reducing the speed at first fan level.
Does anyone now if lenovo plan to bring an update to reduce the speed on T430s too?
Or will be no change for that?
Thanks
StephanHi schildpad00
Can you clarify more, which model exaclty you have ( S310 or U310 ) , and also do you play a games while the fan makes that noise
Please let me know
Thanks
