Ultrabay HDD Adapter for both (compatible with) T410s and T430s

Hi,
Does any one know if lenovo has a ultrabay HDD adapter that can be used in both T410s and T430s.
I have been browsing about this but the PN are not the same and either PN does not point to both system.
Thanks for the clarification.

What is the part # for the 2nd HDD Adapter for an Ultrabay Slim, to be used in the DVD bayCan you also confirm it is a SATA connection, I have already been sent an IBM P/N 41U3148 which has the IDE connection and appears not to fit.
    Thanks for help

Actually, it is entirely accurate.  Here is another related thread with a lot of pictures that demonstrate the problem.  I have 3 Lenovo W520s and 3 useless Lenovo Ultramedia bay adapters.  I cannot tolerate the gap because it causes frequent drive dismounts when I pick up the laptop when it is running or even touching the side.  The newmodeus adapters I purchased to replace the defective Lenovo adapters have been rock solid!  I recommend visiting all the picture links on this thread.  It will clearly demonstrate the problem:

Shan, it isn't entirely correct because we have a lot of W510 and W520 users in my company this doesn't occur with. I am not discounting the problem. I only take exception to the statement that blankets ALL users and ALL hard drive adaptors.  Doing that is incorrect.

  • How to hold the HDD more secure in Ultrabay HDD Adapter

    http://0rz.tw/hCi4T
One of the things I like most about my ThinkPad is the Ultrabay. The Ultrabay is by default occupied by the optical drive, but the optical drive can be removed and replaced with a hard drive adapter, a battery, or a serial/parallel port adapter. But the question seems alway exist, since ultrabay hdd adapter is fit to more than one models. When I insert the ultrabay adapter in my R400, i found that there is some space between the ultrabay and the computer. This is annoying because you have to worry about the dust. But the most serious problem is, the ultrabay HDD adapter could not hold the HDD securely!! Like the photo i show above, the adapter and the HDD is only connected and hold by the junction! So if you subject the adapter to a lot of movement, the drive connector can easily get damaged. Is there any solution to help?

Hi, the Ultrabay HDD Adapter is designed for Lenovo's own hard disks that come w a little metal "caddie" mounted around the hard disk with four screws. That's why the adapter is slightly too large. Unfortunately Lenovo doesn't make the caddie available as a spare part for use with non-Lenovo disks. In this thread a US vendor is listed selling the caddies and my positive experience with it.
Of course the caddies being manufactured in US make them unnecessarily expensive. It would be great if you could find a vendor selling these caddies located in your geography at a more competitive price. Please make sure to post your experiences here if you manage to find one.

Is pages 11 for iOS compatible with pages 09 on my Mac?

There is no such thing as Pages 11 although the new versions on both the Mac & iOS could be referred to as '13.
Pages '09 cannot open files from the new versions. If you have ugraded to Mavericks you should see an update for Pages in the Mac App Store. Post back if you need help doing that.

Hi, I am planning to buy an MBA with 256 GB flash storage. I was wondering if external hdd's will be compatible with it?

Yes, any HDD will work, but as stated above, you should probably go for a more portable unit.  My personal preference is for units that are powered by the USB or Thunderbolt connection, so I don't have to worry about a power cord.
    I'm using a G-Tech 500GB Slim Drive for $90.  They also make a 1 TB model for $150.

It's about the size of a paperback book, and the thickness of an iPhone.  Great for travel if you want to back up photos!  Team it up with a 12 inch USB cord and you'll be set.

  • Is this power adapter (12W) really compatible with iPod shuffle?

    Hello,
I'm just wondering if the 12W power adapter is really compatible with the iPod shuffle 4th generation.
It says it is compatible, but it doesn't make sense to me. Because iPod shuffle is so tiny, I fear that it would burn out if I plug it into a 12W. I understand that the 5W version is compatible but 12W seems interesting.
What do you think? Do you use 12W for the iPod shuffle, too?

It works fine and will not damage the Shuffle. The Shuffle will draw only the power it requires.

  • Will the iPad3 be adapted to be compatible with the european 4G

Will the iPad3 be adapted for a use with the 4G in europe?

I suspect not. 4G frequencies are carrier specific in the US. I am unaware of any iPad models specifically for any European carriers. From what I've read, 3G data will work in Europe, but I won't know for sure until my trip to Tuscany in the summer of 2013.

  • Did someone check Parallel/Serial Ultrabay Slim Adapter for T61 on T400

Just a simple question. I need a serial adapter and the Parallel/Serial Ultrabay Slim Adapter is for me the best solution. If it really looks nice doesn't matter.
I just want to know if it works.

Edit: Okay, it seems that Serial Ultra Bay has not the ports as the ultra bay from T6x series. But then is the question, does Lenovo plan to create also this Parallel/Serial Ultrabay Slim Adapter for T400 series?

Did you investigate if the expresscard converters give you the full RS232 standard you require. The new expresscard slot on the T400 has better performance than USB 2 as it basically attaches directly to the bus.

  • External Hard Drive Compatible with Mac and Windows?

So my old laptop is a Dell Latitude and I bought a Western Digital external hard drive and put all my files/pics/music on it. The information the WD came with said its compatible with Mac and Windows, but when I plug it into my brand spankin new Macbook, it doesn't register with the computer and won't show up. What's going on?

I recently ran into that problem. In order to have the hard drive compatible for both PC and Mac it must be in a FAT32 format. In order to do this though all your files will be deleted (in order to reformat). You can do this by plugging in the hard drive into you mac and going under disk utility and there you will find your hard drive and under erase change the format to FAT32 and then you press erase (all will be deleted off the external drive though)
