Ultrabeat bugs...

I recently left a feedback on apple.com/feedback. It is copied below. They replied back, saying that they duplicated the same bug. Any suggestions from anyone?
BUG------ Whenever I load a new .wav sample from my desktop into an Ultrabeat channel that did not come with Logic via the sample box by Osc. 2, I can not preview, let alone import any analog ultrabeat banks from the import drawer(works fine w/sets and the first 3 accoustic banks) without my sounds that I loaded in (that did not come with Logic) disappearing. It is really getting on my nerves. I swear, all I do is preview the analog ultrabeat bank up top at the import drawer and my sounds will disappear if I brought them in via the sample box by Osc. 2. I even saved my custom kit as a .pst file. The .wav files that I loaded from my desktop that don't come with Logic still disappear!
P.S. I can preview the first 3 accoustic banks w/no problems.
I can't even load a sample from the "Ultrabeat samples" folder in the sample box on the bottom of Ultrabeat. Nothing!
Feature Request----When I load a file in the sample box via the sample box by Osc 2, Logic should turn of all the oscillators and red buttons for me. Why do I need to turn all these buttons off every time, just to get the sound I was previewing in the sample box to play how I was previewing it. It is just not intuitive that Ultrabeat does not do this. I mean come on. If someone loads a sound from that sample box, that means they want to hear that sound. So, why doesn't Ultrabeat facilitate that?

I agree %100. It's a waste of time. A no brainer.
One other thing I'd like to mention is about loading samples in Logic's Audio window or other devices other than UltraBeat. When trying to load any "non- logic" audio files (ie 3rd Party samples), Logic always plays what you audition in LOOP! (except the esx24)
If I try to import a file using the menu options found in the Audio Window, once I click on a file, it will play over and over while it's auditioning. Single hits like snares or horn stabs sound like machine guns going off! Longer musical loops, don't even loop to the song tempo!!!!
How am I supposed to make a good decision about what sounds I want to include in a session, with that kind of stuff going on? How can we miss this one?
Now with UltraBeat if you already have a pattern created in the step sequencer you can click the box that says "play as Ultrabeat voice" and it will play the pattern.
But sometimes I'd like to select my sound before I decide what pattern I want it to play for christsake!
Please, for the love Logic, find the darn meta-data associated with that stuff, or whatever data you need to find and shut off the automatic loop auditioning! Or give us a box to check (perhaps right next to the box that says "play as ultrabeat voice"?), that says "play as loop", or "one shot"....you already have that option in the esx24, just apply it elsewhere, too....
How does anybody get around this with sanity!!!
Am I making sense?

  • When will the ultrabeat bugs be fixed

I worked this week-end with logic 8 and it's a pain to built a drum kit in ultrabeat with my own samples because sample preview don't work and when I manage to build my drum kit, the samples are missing when I load my previous projects !
    Help !

    Hi
Ive just started learning ultrabeat, going through the manual step by step.
When i got to part where it says you can load your own wav samples in, i thought wicked!.
When i tried to preview a wav sample i got the same, i couldnt hear anything.
I chose a random sample. After choosing a sample UB just keeps playing the sample looping, and i cant stop it. Also none of the parameters work after its loaded.
Im just left with a looping sound to annoy me.
Hope they're gonna sort this as i heard UB was wicked.

  • New bug in Ultrabeat into Logic Pro 8.0.1

Hey guys check this... a brand new bug (hope it would be only my mac, but with 8.0.0 there wasn't)
so open ultrabeat, choose the preset called Drag & drop samples under Drum Kits.
(just to use one free preset)
load a file and record something, then press play in order to listen your drum and try to load an other sample to make comparison (example: load a kick, do a 4/4 drum, try to replace the kick with an other sample and check the Preview sample in ultrabeat to try comparison... )
after this update no more Preview sample in ultrabeat voice (and than note will stop on playing when u try that function
    sorry for the english

finally i find someone else with the same prob, o already post into apple.com too
yes here the same, bug new in 8.0.1, cause on logic 8.0.0 all works fine (except some click noise when you pre-listen a file in autoloop)
however here what i can say to you (it's 3 days i'm studyng this cause i make a massive use of ultrabeat)
    - no matter both power pc / intel soffer of this bug
    - i try to update to leopard from my 10.4.11 (same bug) tryin a new os installation (same bug), tryn without audio card and driver (same bug)
so i really don't know how to solve it, cause there are only few people that have this problem

  • Does Mainstage 2.2 fix the bug when using Ultrabeat as your click track / metronome?

There was a bug where the Ultrabeat sequencer would run, but no sound would come through the channel strip.  It's pretty annoying to have to pay $30 for a bug fix, but I might do it, if it would indeed fix the bug.
    Does anyone know?   Thanks

I'm currently using UB as my click track. I created a custom template in UB and imported my click samples. I do not set up UB at concert level but instead set up UB at each one of my SETS level. I set the tempo and time signature under each SET.
I then map a button to ACTIONS>PLAY/STOP not to CLICK(name of channel strip)>ULTRABEAT (Drum Synth)>SEQUENCER PLAY/STOP. This allows me to stop and start the click track and for the drummer to count the song off whenever he feels like.
I then use PLAYBACK to play my backing tracks in time with the click. I map a button for PLAYBACK to NAME OF PLAYBACK TRACK>PLAYBACK>TRANSPORT>PLAY/STOP (From Start).
Under my PLAYBACK options I set SNAP TO>BEAT and PLAY FROM>CURRENT POSITION.
The only problem I've found with this is that if you start the PLAYBACK before the UB click it will turn on the UB click. Other than that it has been working well for me.
Also, add a button mapped to PANIC somewhere in your setup so you can cease any/all midi/tracks at anytime.

  • Ultrabeat Import Bug

I am using 7.2.3 on an intel Mac . I have created some sound sets in Ultrabeat , using sounds from the preset drum sets and drum banks .I have modified and re-named some of the sounds . When I use the import function to access these sets , some of the existing voices will no longer sound . This does not occur when importing Ultrabeats preset sets/banks . Is this a bug in the Import feature ? Is there a way around it ?

  • Problem with Ultrabeat and Bounce in Place

    Hi,
I'm new here and reasonably new to Logic as I have been an Ableton user for quite a few years. I was eventually enticed by Logic Express 9 due to the fantastic price and the features on offer.
Anyway on to my problem! I have been getting my head around Ultrabeat and using multiple outputs. I discovered the Bounce in Place command for tracks and regions which is an amazing time saver. However I am noticing that when I use this command, the audio that is produced is not quite in line with the grid. Its clear to see the blank space at the start of the audio file.
Obviously I can trim the audio down but I'm sure i shouldn't have to. I was wondering if this is either a bug or whether I am missing something?
By the way I am using Logic Express 9.1.3 and Snow Leopard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,
how do you trigger UB? Do you use pattern mode or do you use standard MIDI events?
    I cannot reproduce the problem.

  • New bug in 8.02 - regions confused with each other

So, I just updated to 8.02, and loaded up a recent project that was half finished (bad idea).
Now I have some strange bugs going on that I never had before, and they are basic issues.
My audio regions keep getting confused with each other.
I have an audio region that I can't open in the sample editor. When I double click on it, the sample editor will bring up the last region I edited, not the new one. I've re-named the region, deleted it and re-added it to the arrange window, but this region will not open in the sample editor.
I can see it in my media bin, and preview it there, and it plays in my arrangement no problem, but I can't get it to open in the sample editor. In fact sometimes when I click on it, with the media window open, I can see another sample being 'selected' in the media window instead of the proper audio region.

  • Ultrabeat Saving Issues

    Greetings,
I did a bit of searching on this and other forums, but found very little on this subject. When saving Ultrabeat presets, sometimes the sample OSC has none loaded and sometimes, it loads a completely different drum (Taiko for example). Has anyone else commonly seen this error within Ultrabeat? I noticed that this only happened with my previous custom template, "pre" Time Machine + Airport Update. Also, I noticed that if my template already has an Ultrabeat loaded on Logic Startup, the same weird bug happens again.
In short: Does anyone else have Ultrabeat preset saving issues, and if so, what did you do to work around it?
I know this problem is elsewhere on this forum, and somewhat forgotten, but I want to start fresh on this topic, and hopefully get to the bottom of this.

We can only hope that Apple solves this issue as well. But when you think about it, where do they begin with so many problems to address?
The Apples will need all the luck and coffee this side of the World. I don't even know what to expect from their ever so popular "update". I'm calling apple today, but they'll tell me the same thing they always say......which is not much.
Oh well, less crying, more producing.
    Time to man up. (RMIV)

  • Logic (Finder Window Bug)

    Greetings,
While most things are working well in Lion, I am starting to see its flaws little by little.  Such as ichat not able to receive audio if I initiate video chat.
The more I use Lion, the more I am starting to regret it.  Just out of curiousity, is anyone else getting this bug on Logic?  Please let me know if you do, just so I don't feel like perhaps Apple dropped the ball only on me this time.
The bug, at least to me, seems to be on the finder window for Logic.  For example, if you open a new project with (Command+O) or load samples into EXS or Ultrabeat.  I get this massive space inbetween the right column and the file browser.  Example below.
No matter how many times I re-adjust the columns, it always reverts back to the space.  Kind of kills workflow if you really widen the window to access your drives and content.  You lose a few inches of screen real estate that gets to be pretty major after several hours of working.
If you get this bug, we better start voicing it to the Logic team, as 9.1.5 did not fix the problem.  I'm giving Apple one more chance with 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 before it starts to become a problem.  And I'm talking about the big picture, not just a finder bug.
    Here's hoping.
    Cheers
    LGK

You know, allot of these problems will never be addressed at this point.  The workflow and intuitive usage suffers plenty with these bugs.  However, at the stage its in, Logic X (Garageband pro) is right around the corner, so apple doesn't see the point in fixing obsolete software.  I'm jumping the gun on expecting apple to drop the ball on Logic, but with their current "Pro Apps" track record, you'd have to be a little foolish not to think that.
In my opinion, and I must be clear, my opinion, apple no longer sees any profit in supporting their professional customers.  Too many non-creative humans are fattening their pockets with plenty of cash from useless non-pro audio apps for idevices.
I don't blame apple, afterall, its all about the money if you're a corporation right?  We have other choices, lets just go there.  Apple won't miss us, not one bit.
As for the finder window bug.  Its still there after 10.7.3 and 9.1.6.  It will be there forever along with all the other bugs as it has for years now.  Remember, you don't have to live with it.  Lets not be lazy and start packing our bags.  Its time to go.

  • Ultrabeat:  Swapping drum sounds causes samples to get lost

    Hello,
According to the Logic Studio Instruments and Effects manual on page 558, you should be able to swap drum sounds in ultrabeat by dragging and dropping one onto another. However, when I do this, both the source and destination cells have no sample loaded anymore. I also tried to swap via menu and clipboard copy, but got the same result.
Is this a known bug? Has anyone else seen this? I'm using Logic Pro 8.01 on a G5.

Yes. This is a problem. Also, when you create a new ultrabeat with your own samples and take the time to name them in ultrbeat's piano roll, the next time you open it up in a new project the names are gone. Both of these are major bugs. I have reported this to Apple and seen no results yet.

  • [Bug Report] saving issue

  • Ultrabeat multiple out put problem

when i change the output of a voice in ultrabeat it plays out of sync and sounds like a different pattern. When i change it back to "main" its plays back ok.Is it a bug or something?or is something wrong with my system?

    Hi Vishi
Please check you routine associated with your output type, suppose you have a requiremnt that is qty=5 then trigger DLO1, in such cases every time you save sales order with qty =5 output will trigger automatically.
To avoid such cases add some code in routine that is output has already triggered then don't trigger.
    Take help of ABAPer.

  • Multiple output ultrabeat logic pro x

I am currently using Logic Pro X and I was wondering how do you set the multiple output to mono in the ultrabeat.
In Logic Pro 9 there was a mono option under the channel fader but I can't seem to find the mono option for the Ultrabeat in mutliple output mode in Logic Pro X. Can someone help me out with an answer please.

I've been running Mavericks for a while now, and Logic both X and 9 run great. I haven't experienced these specific bugs, so can't guarantee that upgrading will help you, but the word on the street is that Logic runs better in Mavericks. Personally, I'd recommend upgrading to Mavericks. Just my $0.02.
Before upgrading, be sure to backup your drives. Clone your system drive using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. If not that, at least run a full Time Machine backup.

  • Can Noone Help This Ultrabeat Update???

Once I updated To Logic Pro 7.2 The ultrabeat's last note(The Chromatic note) no longer triggers more than once every 2 seconds. Am I the only one having this problem? If so someone please tell me. Thanx in advance for anyone who can help.

I had the same Problem with some update (7.1 or 7.2, I don't remember). The cromatic voice uses a sample in this song, and after the update the note could be heard only occasionally. The solution was to switch the second oscillator from "sample" to something else (phase or model) and back to sample, and - voilá - all notes were present again. Unfortunately this has to be done every time I reboot (or maybe relaunch logic - I don't know exactly). Maybe worth a bug report to apple, but I didn't send one yet.

  • Question about UltraBeat

Hi. I am concidering jumping from Ableton Live to Logic Pro in my home studio. Live has been a great learning software for me in the beginning of my audio endeavours. However, I feel I am ready to take on Logic in the studio and keep Live for, well, live performances.
Anyway, one instrument I am excited about is Ultrabeat. Ultrabeat's oscillators as well as sample playback combined into one interface specificly for drums seems extremely useful. This is one area where my workflow has been struggling lately. I am tired of always sampling as well as using monster synths to make a simple kick.
My question about Ultrabeat is, once you make a hit with an oscillator, do you save it as a sample and load it in another area of the instrument for playback? Or, does it playback entirely from the oscillator? If it always remains in the oscillator, are you able to make several differnt settings with the oscillators and jump between them as you select voices, as well as playback all of them at once? That seems unlikely.
Please enlighten me on Ultrabeat a bit. I tried to download the express demo to toy around with it a bit myself but the link is broken on Apple's site.
Also, if you have an extra moment, please share your feelings of Logic. If I make the jump, will I ever look back?
    Thanks for your time!

Wow. Thanks for your helpful reply.
Sounds like I have all I need at the moment and just need to learn to use it to it's full potential first.
I was looking to Logic for:
A: Ultrabeat seems inspiring and useful with the built in oscillators, pattern sequencer, and user interface. I currently have Battery 3 and have been attempting to utilize it well with Live but I can't stand not having a drum map editor to sequence it. I asked for a feature to have the option to choose either a drum map editor or standard piano map editor per midi track. This would be a cozy workflow helper for me. Maybe Live will listen and add this in 7.
B: Surround sound capabilities. I have the Presonus FireStudio and MSR remote so I plan to add rear, center and sub channels in the semi-near future. This may be coming in Live 7 also!
C: Ability to link CPU's for extra DSP.
D: I felt once I really got into Logic that it would likely be more professional quality overall.
F: I have a new Mac Pro Dual 2.66 Intel Core Duo arriving today. I thought Logic would utalize it's power best. I know Live, since 6, is multi-processor aware. However, I'm not sure about the dual core part.
    E: Apple has me hypnotized.
Now, since purchasing Live I have also obtained Operator and Sampler. I also have every Native Instrument plug including Massive via Komplete 4.
I also have Wave Arts PowerSuie 5 which gives me sidechaining. I wondered how the Trackplug 5 compressors compared to Logic's.
I was considering selling my PowerSuite 5 and Komplete 4 if I was happy with Logic's instruments. I felt making the switch may be smarter in the long run for studio use. There are certain features in automation drawing that I want that Live does not have as well. I was thinking Logic being considered "pro app" may address some details that Live doesn't today. However, I agree that Live is bug-free and constantly updated. Live may grow as I need it to as I grow as a producer.
Bottom line, I should wait a few months and see what Live 7 offers before i make a final decision.
    Thanks for your reply!
I still wouldn't mind more opinions either.
