Ultrabeat Problems

I just recently found the ultrabeat setting with Logic Express and am having some trouble with it. Once I make my beat and am ready to put in into my song, when I drag the pattern box into the track, it plays through the whole song and not just the part I want it. I'm not sure if I'm inserting it into the song correctly or something is just wrong. Could someone help me?

Logic's Sequencer is independent from UB's sequencer... After you drag the UB sequence into Logic's arrange area you need to turn off UB's sequencer. It's the power switch button to the left of the Sequence part of UB.

  • Ultrabeat problems please help, desperate help help help help

    Whenever I'm assembeling a drum kit in ultrabeat, the acoustic drum samples keep changing, they will be fine one minute and then (it's whenever i do this) i import some new kits and add a new drumvoice, all of the acoustic drums just go silent/change their parameters, have posted this problem a lot, can anyone help please, very strange problem, if not can anyone at least tell me a support number i can ring? Thank you, this is the only problem i have found with logic, but it keeps on happening?

    Avoid importing to the top notes in Ultrabeat since most of the drum kits have a bass assigned to the upper notes, unless you want to mess with midi. If you want to, you would have to reassign the upper notes to one-shots.

  • Multi-Outs with Ultrabeat problem

    I'm new to Logic, but I have an instance of Ultrabeat set up with all the drums properly routed to different Auxilliary channels. They respond correctly when triggered from my midi keyboard. I created a midi clip on the Main track, double clicked it and went into the piano roll to do some programming. The problem: If I click in a note, it plays correctly. If I click on the piano roll key for that note, it sounds right. If I press play, the same notes will play the sound from the key just beneath it. It also won't start playback immediately. You don't hear anything for the first 3 or 4 notes in the piano roll during playback. Can anyone shed some light on this. I've been trying to make sense out of Logic's way of dealing with multi-outs for a few days and it seems like the implementation is just very wrong. I'm starting to feel like I'm gonna have to do drumming elsewhere then import it into Logic. Would be a shame since ultrabeat is a very good sounding drum synth.

    No I didn't look at "environments" in general at all until today. I'd honestly bought Logic with the hopes that I'd never have to touch an environment, but that's not correct. Today I dug into understanding environments and while I don't know a lot, I do understand the concept. Simply put, you can't have anything in a song file that hasn't been pre-configured in the environment. That explains a great deal about Logic and how it's a world apart from Cubase, what I've been using for years.
    The piano roll thing was a freaky glitch that corrected itself when I closed and reopened the file. But I'm glad that you confirmed the latency thing with these plugins. Logic is so complicated that when things don't behave as expected, I may never look in the right place for the right answer.
    I've been literally practicing setting up multi-outs on Ultrabeat and EXS24 for hours today. What a nightmare. This is something that I normally did on the fly in any song file, but in Logic, these things definately need to be pre-configured or the distraction is much too great. The great thing about Logic though is that I find that I'm doing very little mixing as I go along because everything sounds so good right from the start. Trying to make sound sit properly in a mix, or just getting them to sound "good" was the thing that normally distracted me. Logic solves that problem, but I'm gonna have to spend a great deal of time poking around Logic before I can be truly productive with it. But when it's all set up and ready, I think I will begin to rule the world.

  • Ultrabeat Problem (Audio Sample Quality)

    hi...im not sure if i phrased my subject correctly...but here's the problem...
    today i was just fiddling with some kick samples...& i started making something that i liked...so i decided to put it into my normal work template & build up on it...
    now heres where things got strange...my ultrabeat is initialized for samples...so technically...it should sound the same as an audio sample right?
    but thats not the case! in ultrabeat...it sounds a lot more dampened...i checked everything...no filters or anything are engaged...yet if i play the same kick in the logic arrange window...it sounds a lot tighter! it's very strange...& i was hoping someone here may know how to work around this problem...i like loading into ultrabeat so i can change the sample in a track without having to redo the programming manually...which i would have to if i use samples directly in the arrange...

    ohh...i thought the don't ask why was only for the behavior...my question was more of a general wondering as to why they dont fix it!
    as for it being a drum synth...why provide a sample bay then? (i like to beat these people with logic)

  • Problem with Ultrabeat and Bounce in Place

    Hi,
    I'm new here and reasonably new to Logic as I have been an Ableton user for quite a few years. I was eventually enticed by Logic Express 9 due to the fantastic price and the features on offer.
    Anyway on to my problem! I have been getting my head around Ultrabeat and using multiple outputs. I discovered the Bounce in Place command for tracks and regions which is an amazing time saver. However I am noticing that when I use this command, the audio that is produced is not quite in line with the grid. Its clear to see the blank space at the start of the audio file.
    Obviously I can trim the audio down but I'm sure i shouldn't have to. I was wondering if this is either a bug or whether I am missing something?
    By the way I am using Logic Express 9.1.3 and Snow Leopard.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm having a problem with Ultrabeat's sequencer in Mainstage

    In Mainstage, I've set up an Ultrabeat instance on the concert level so that I can use it as a metronome for the whole project.  (I like to be able to customize the sounds, add subdivisions, make it louder than the default metronome sound, etc.)
    However, I'm having a problem.  Sometimes, when I try to use it, it doesn't work.  Here's what I'm doing to recreate the problem:
    In ultrabeat, I create the pattern in the step sequencer, and the sound I want.  I have a very simple woodblock sound, and I set the sequence to be only 4 boxes long in Ultrabeat.  The sequencer in UB is "on".  I created a button on the workspace in Mainstage, and mapped it to UB's "sequencer Play/Stop".
    1. When I start the squencer, it runs - i can see the curse in UB moving to the right and repeating - but no sound come through the channel strip
    2. When I click the keys on the left side of UB, sound DOES come through the channel strip.
    So in essence, UB doesn't want to send sound to Mainstage by using its sequencer.
    Has anyone faced anything similar?  any ideas on how to fix this?  I've done it successfully before, but sometimes it just doesn't work.

    For the sake of clarity and to save people time, Todd is asking about the behaviour of the Patch tool when using it to repair the area next to the young lad's head.  Todd gets a blurred dark tone pretty much regardless of the options he uses.
    IMO that's what I would expect to happen because of the close proximity of the other image elements i.e. the lad's neck and the strong lines of his shirt.  I would not choose to use the Patch tool in this situation.  Content Aware Fill makes a better stab at it. 

  • Problem With Ultrabeat

    Hello group,
    So I went to open Ultrabeat in a project (by double-clicking "Ultrabeat" on the I/O slot in the channel strip.) I got the spinning rainbow beachball for about 3 minutes and then a strange Ultrabeat window opened up. Here's a link to what I got:

    I went to the "view" menu on the Ultrabeat window, and it had two options: "Controls" (which was checked) and "Editor" which I tried to select but wound up getting the rainbow beachball again for several minutes.
    I'm at a loss as to why this is happening, the only significant change I've made to my Logic setup in the last few days was installing the Korg Legacy Digital package (the virtual Korg M1 and Wavestation.) All other plug-in instruments (i.e. EVP-88, EXS24, etc.) seem to work and behave fine, the problem seems to be limited to Ultrabeat. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, I've found this group to be very informative and helpful. Thanks in advance!

    So the GUI's of the EmagInstruments are not somewhere in the Logic.app itself?
    Yes, the gui graphics are in the app, but when Logic runs it builds the GUI's into the cache file and uses that for performance reasons. At least this used to be the behaviour, and as LP7 has never been on this machine I'm assuming that this was true at least for LP8.
    Errr.... I don't have a Logic folder there... All my plugs show GUIs though...
    Hmm, let me check the behaviour in the current Logic version... brb...
    Ok - just checked in 9.1.1 by erasing the graphics caches, and they are not rebuilt in 9.1.1, so somewhere along the way it seems Logic doesn't do this anymore.
    I just tried it with LP8 and the graphics caches were written back to disk. So it appears that while LP8 did this, the behaviour in LP9 has changed (*makes mental note*).
    It could be that LP9 does still use graphics caches but writes them somewhere else, and this kind of cache corruption has resulted in the OP's behaviour in the past. I'll investigate a little...

  • Problem with step mode in ultrabeat

    I use step mode in ultrabeat (when everything becomes yellow). Lots of tweaks are done in step mode, and everything sounds correctly. But after reopen the project some voices sounds like they are in voice mode, not in step mode, even if the step mode is on.
    This problem could be fixed by clicking on that voices. But there are 25 of them, it is really annoying. Could some one tell me, why does it happen? Thank you…

    Ultrabeat is not so much a sample player, but more a synthesizer. Your squeek probably has to do with the synth parameters of that sound in UB.

  • Problem with Audio/Ultrabeat

    I was just using logic and all of a sudden there was no audio coming through the speakers. Ultrabeat won't play as well. I checked all the mixing levels, mutes, and the computer sound settings and they all seem to be normal. Does anyone have any info on why this may be happening? Thanks.

  • Problems with Ultrabeat sequencer

    Someone can tell me why before a jump in a playback cycle Ultrabeat sequencer lose the last notes i've prepared in the pattern? Before tho loop ends and starts again there is an empty bar of the drum sequence. Why? Can I solve the issue?

    New girl taking her first bite of the apple,trying to post a question and cant figure it out (not blonde), but sense you guys are talking about the sequencer this might be a place to start
    my question is whne i finish a sequence and want to record it to my arrange and cant?, watched the ultrabeat tutorials and on the bottom left hand corner it says pattern with a button to the left of that, which maps the sequence to the matrix editor, Now the problem is that when i open ultrabeat on multi ch this magic button is not there and is replaced with a #sign so the very bottom left corner of ultrabeat it states pattern# .............could antone help me with ,not only enabling this feature, but actually finding it???, or any tips on recording my sequenes to my arrange?

  • Problem with auditioning samples in Ultrabeat?

    Im having some trouble with auditioning drum hits in Ultrabeat. When I go to listen a sample, the sample plays but all i can hear is a high pitched squeak instead of the drum hit I want to audition. Can anyone explain this?

    Ultrabeat is not so much a sample player, but more a synthesizer. Your squeek probably has to do with the synth parameters of that sound in UB.

  • Problem with Ultrabeat Muti channel (URGENT)

    Hi all
    I am about to start a recording session and disaster has struck!
    I am trying to creat a mutichannel ultrabeat - I have an instance of SDtylus RMX working nicely on multi channel no probs. I have now created a multi channel instance of ultrabeat and no sound is coming through the aux's - I tried another multi channel instrument (RMIV) and that wont work either... any thoughts?

    I had created the Instance of Ultrabeat in the environment window and not the arrange window. it works fine now

  • Problems Opening Ultrabeat in Logic Pro X

    Hey guys, I know this might be a dumb question but I just can't seem to find an answer. I can't seem to find out how to open Ultrabeat in Logic X like I was able to in Logic 9. Can someone tell me how to open it because it is becoming frustrating searching for it.

    It's in the same place as all the other Apple AU instruments.
    If you look at the track inspector section of your instrument track (via clicking the the big i at top left) you will see a slot for "instrument" between Audio and MIDI effects slots. Click the little arrows (or the word instrument) and a list will appear. It's in that list about 2/3 of the way down.

    when i change the output of a voice in ultrabeat it plays out of sync and sounds like a different pattern.When i change it back to "main" its plays back ok.Is it a bug or something?or is something wrong with my system?

    Please check you routine associated with your output type, suppose you have a requiremnt that is qty=5 then trigger DLO1, in such cases every time you save sales order with qty =5 output will trigger automatically.
    To avoid such cases add some code in routine that is output has already triggered then don't trigger.

  • Logic Pro 7.2.1 + Ultrabeat Import problems

    I am pretty well skilled in ultrabeat. However since upgrading to 7.2.1 from 7.2 I've noticed when I try and import elements of a drum kit in the normal fashion, it will blank out all my previous ultrabeat voices upon loading up the kit to import. Anyone else get this or is it just me?

    Well, I'm able to import kits and it's not blanking out what's already there. I'm using 7.2.1 as well. What did happen though was Logic crashed while messing around moving and triggering parts. This is very interesting though. I didn't realize yet how that was working. Now I see that this will allow me to somewhat faster, convert some drumkits to multi-out kits.
