Ultrabeat - saving instruments

I have worked with Ultrabeat to create a tambourine that sounds right to me. Now, I wonder if there is a way to save that individual tambourine sound to use as an instrument whenever I want it.
Also, are Ultrabeat changes that one makes with one project only for that project or can one call them "universal"? I could see making a number of tambourine sounds that one could use to create a sequence that would sound like a tambourine shimmering in the air and then coming down for the beat. Since it seems that I canot save Ultrabeat sounds as a newly named Ultrabeat set, what is one to do to save a lot of Ultrabeat sequences as they are developed over time?
I hope that you understand my question and I also hope that it can be answered soon.
Thank you all so much.

We can only hope that Apple solves this issue as well. But when you think about it, where do they begin with so many problems to address?
The Apples will need all the luck and coffee this side of the World. I don't even know what to expect from their ever so popular "update". I'm calling apple today, but they'll tell me the same thing they always say......which is not much.
Oh well, less crying, more producing.

  • Backing up Saved Instruments

How can I backup Saved Instruments, ie. custom instruments I've created in GarageBand? I want to open them up on another laptop. Thanks.

Save the local Instrument Library in the Library folder in your Home Folder:
You need to transfer this folder to your other mac:
    ~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
I MacOS X 10.9.1 you can open your user library from your Home folder, if you make it visible in the Finder's preferences:
Select the "Home" folder icon (the little house)  in the Finder's sidebar and press the key combination ⌘J to open the view options. Enable "Show Library Folder".
Then open the Home folder and open the Library folder inside and navigate to
    ~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
Copy this folder to your other Mac and add all files in the sub folders to the corresonding folders on your other mac.

  • Ultrabeat Saving Issues

    Greetings,
I did a bit of searching on this and other forums, but found very little on this subject. When saving Ultrabeat presets, sometimes the sample OSC has none loaded and sometimes, it loads a completely different drum (Taiko for example). Has anyone else commonly seen this error within Ultrabeat? I noticed that this only happened with my previous custom template, "pre" Time Machine + Airport Update. Also, I noticed that if my template already has an Ultrabeat loaded on Logic Startup, the same weird bug happens again.
In short: Does anyone else have Ultrabeat preset saving issues, and if so, what did you do to work around it?
I know this problem is elsewhere on this forum, and somewhat forgotten, but I want to start fresh on this topic, and hopefully get to the bottom of this.

  • Retrieving a "saved instrument"

    Hi All,
im new to GB2 and can't find a way to retrieve settings when I manually adjust the parameters for a specific instrument's voice (reverb/amp sim settings, etc). I hit save, and it creates the saved voice in that particular track, but is there no way to retrieve this info in the Intrument files? Am I misunderstanding this function? Thanks for your input.

If you saved it as a preset, and named it something you remember, it should show up on the right side of the info window, and that set of effects would be available for any track that is of the same type.

  • Ultrabeat Saving Sequence

How can I save a new sequence in Ultrabeat?
    Thanks.

Thanks.  I was actually trying to save a sequence in the same area where the 10 factory sequences are.  For example, in the lower left-hand corner I'll use the pull-down menu and I see the 10 factory sequences that come with the kit.  I'll select an empty patch-make a beat.  I want to save the new sequence so when I open that drum kit, I'll see all the sequences i've developed using that kit.
I like your fix, but would like to know how to save it on the lower left-hand corner menu rather than the media library.
    Thanks.

  • Ultrabeat - mapped instrument

I Know how to set up a mapped instrument for external instruments but was just wondering how you would o about doing it for ultra-beat or other plug-ins. I know its possible as it says in the manual but it don't say how o do it for internal plugins only external midi devices.
    help is needed.
    Cheers
    Gary

I suppose you've got already some MIDI tracks in the arrange window. Then, create a mapped instrument in the environment window, close the new window, and drag the new mapped instrument icon to one midi track of the arrange window (MIDI ch 10 for example).

  • Save Instrument

...or more precisely, save voice settings.
Wanting to record narration to import to iMovie. I have a nasally voice so I'd like to mix it into something that doesn't sound so drone-like. I did manage to mess around in the Details window but when I click Save Instrument I get messages that I do not really understand.
My question, how do I save the settings in Details so that each time I record my voice I already have the preset Details.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for replying.
I think I may have figured it out. It's simply a matter of saving 'instrument' and then it appears in My Settings. Correct?
Next time I record my voice I would click My Settings and select the saved 'instrument'. Correct?

  • Drums While Playing Other Instruments

Hey, I am new to mainstage and I was wondering how I could allow the drum pattern to continue playing when I switch to a different patch. Is there a way to loop patches as well and layer them on top of each other? Right now, when I hit a drum pattern button and switch to a different sound, the drums cut out. Anyway, thanks for the help!

I'm assuming that you're using Ultrabeat for your drum loops. Have you tried making Ultrabeat an instrument at the Set or Concert level? As long as you switch between patches within that set or concert, the loops should keep going.

  • How to save custom Producer Kits?

    Hello.
I've been trying to save a complete custom mixed/edited producer kit with no succes.
There's an article how to load, edit and save the patches, but I haven't been able to make the custom saved producer kits to appear in the library or even in the finder. The saved instrument appears on the Library image window, but not in the library. Has anyone succeeded with saving pre-mixed multichannel drum kits?
I would like to use this in other songs too...

    Thanks Art, CCTM and KC
Oh how I wish to say these advices resolved the problem - but no...
    I followed through these steps:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
I found the plist files from the ~/Library/Preferences folder and deleted them
    I also deleted
    Then restarted - no cure
Then I did the same but deleted all files including "logic" from the Preferences. Then checked out all the User accounts of this computer with the same procedure. I deleted also the Mainstage PLISTS just to make sure.
Then I emptied the Trash and restarted - but no cure
Then I did that all again and deleted the Logic Pro X app - restarted and reinstalled it.
    That didn't help either.
I also tried to save different PATCHes using SAVE on the Library low-right corner.
I wasn't sure where to save them, but the Labrary didn't create any User Folder or those custom patches.
Not even after using refresh library...
What about Garageband, Final Cut Pro or some other app - could they cause this?
What do you think? Do I have to start from a scratch to build up the system installing every app one by one again to make this work? That would be **** of a job...
I'm beginning to feel like a kid complaining about something and nothing seems to help.
Thanks for your patience and all the advice you've given.
If you have any other ideas- keep them coming

  • Can't use old AI materials in AI CS6?

Hi. I've been using Illustrator to draw certain parts of illustrations-like surgical instruments in a drawing otherwise done by hand or in Photoshop-through many versions of Illustrator. CS3, CS5 and now CS6. And I'm having trouble now making use of the old, saved instrument files because it's impossible to "join"lines in them. There may be other problems as well, but that one is the biggie right now. Is it understood that old Illustrator files will be difficult to manipulate in newer versions of the program? I would have thought that a vector file is a vector file, etc. I have older versions of AI, but there's an activation issue I have to sort out first. SHOULD I be able to work with older files in AI CS6?

    Jet:
Thanks for the note. The paths I am trying to join are as simple as it gets. See attached. Two black lines on a white BG, two ends of an outline, and on one layer, not stacked, no stray points around them. What I'm trying to do is join parts of the outline so that I can turn, say, a collection of lines into a closed shape to fill it with white. My only recourse now is to export the shape to Photoshop, where it's going anyway, then complete the outline with the brush tool and use paintbucket to add white to it and all the subshapes. Tedious. And I have to admit, I'm still "joining" the same way I was in 1998. Is there a knowledgebase article or a link that will give me the straight poop? The attached image is black lines, probably drawn 10 years ago, and none of the lines can now be joined. The arrows point to places I'd like to "join", but can't. No power on earth will do it. Go any ideas?

  • Legacy vocal does not appear in Garage Band 10.0.2

As a legacy user of Garage Band '11, I saved my favorite vocal settings as an instrument under 'Vocals'.
However, this 'instrument' doesn't show up in the Legacy section of Garage Band 10.0.2.   Any idea why that might be?

Your own saved instruments should appear in the library under "User Channel Strip Settings".
    Do you see them there?

  • "vocals" How do i save settings on vocal track

    Hi All
Can anyone please help, I am new to GB and wondered if anyone could please tell me how to save vocal settings on a track so I may use them again on earlier recorded vocals, eg: import the earlier recorded vocal track into GB with the settigs already in GB. Is this possible? Also is there any good plug in settings about use can use for vocals. Thanks to all in advance.
    Kind Regards Gary

how to save vocal settings on a track
open Track "i"nfo, select a category in the left hand list (e.g. Vocals), and click the Save Instrument button
so I may use them again on earlier recorded vocals
select your newly saved "instrument" for any track in which you want the same effects

  • Fastest Way To Create Ultrabeat Instrument From Wav Loop?

Hello, can anyone share the fastest way to create and instrument from a WAV file?
I know you can convert a wav to ESX24 instrument but I use Ultrabeat not ESX.
Im finding my self divinding each shot into region and then exporting that to its own file.
    Is there a faster/simpler way?
    -Thanks

You're right! It does work, however, if you follow these steps:
    1. Right-click on wave file in Arrange and choose "Slice at Transient Markers" or use the corresponding key command.
    2. Select all the split regions right-click on them and choose: Convert > Convert to new audio file(s)
    3. Again, with all the regions selected choose: Convert to new sampler track.
    4. Now launch Ultrabeat. Click on the Import button anc choose the .exs file you've just created (will be located in your project folder). Then drag the audio files into UB as desired.
You could skip Part 3 altogether and simply slice at transients, convert to new audio file(s) and then in a new kit of UB drag them into the sample window of OSC for each part...

  • Custom Instruments Not Saving

I'm having an issue with GarageBand/Logic that just doesn't make sense to me.  I have several aiff files that I want to use as samples for a custom instrument.  I have followed the steps found here to the letter: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/quick-and-easy-sampler-instruments-in-l ogic-pro-x, and just to make sure I wasn't doing something that can't be done I found this in the support docs: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12947, which basically says the same thing as the macprovideo article... Everything seems right.  I can play the new custom instrument from the Musical Typing Keyboard, I can even play the instrument through my MIDI keyboard.  Perfect.
    However...
When I save the instrument everything looks the same way as discribed (everything to correct folders, etc.) if I close the project and exit the program, when I go back to use the"User Patch" in a new project, the patch has "magically" reverted back to the original sounds and all my sample assignments are gone.
Am I missing something...  Doesn't this article say that once you've saved a custom instrument you can use it in other projects?

been having the exact same problem for 6 months now since getting my brand new garbage mac computer.
bought a mac for garageband.. they ruined garageband with the new updates.
    cant use it anymore
    Had to get logic
on useless glitch filled logic, none of my instruments save.. ever. Ohh its wonderful. I save the instrument itself. Save the the project. It crashes, reopen, the custom instrument is there in user patches. but none of the sounds are on the keys.. Oooooh great.
the "genius" at the "genius" bar were less than %0 helpful. They could hardly find where the folder the instruments were being saved to let alone address the actual problem.

  • Saving Ultrabeat Presets

Hello all, I've been working in Ultrabeat, making a custom kit using sounds from various presets. Problem is that I saved the new preset, but it reverts to the original preset, before I made the changes. Is saving presets something of Logic Pro? I know you can't edit the banks of the EXS24 in Express. Is this also true for Ultrabeat?

Ten, how did you customize the kit? I have looked in the manual etc and cannot find any place where it explains how to do that.
Any help would be huge man. I use it as my drummer and the set kits (downtempo etc) just dont have all the parts I want (different cymbals, cowbell etc)
    Thanks
