UltraNav settings suddenly gone

The UltraNav settings under Devices and Printers > Mouse have suddenly disappeared on my T420. Can someone tell me how to get it back, possibly by re-installing the UltraNav driver? I've found several links on the Lenovo site, but I'm not sure which one would be the right one to select.

ICal data suddenly gone and iCal stuck on birthday subscription

I am on OSX 10.8.4 - iCal data suddenly gone and iCal stuck on birthday subscription - when trying to create events, or enter any data - the following prompt comes up "You can't add or change events on the Birthdays Calendar". I can not get "off" the Birthday Calendar - I can no longer access any of the old data or use iCal at all.
- Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I have a similar problem. I have been using MobileMe to sync my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 4. I noticed on Friday morning that all data prior to 6 months ago (23 Apr 2010/Fri) is gone, except for recurring appts (birthdays, mainly). MobileMe may have had something to do with it, but I never log on to the site, and I had not updated my MobileMe calendar online (or iCal on my laptop, either, for that matter). And, I also don't know exactly when I lost all this data, either, which of course doesn't help either the troubleshooting or the recovery processes.
I confirmed that all my settings (laptop, iPhone, iTunes, MobileMe online) were all set to keep all events forever and to sync all events. As part of checking all this, I got the message about updating my MobileMe calendar, which I did. I didn't lose any additional data. I am diligent about all updates, but if I had realized I was switching from keeping all my calendar data on my laptop to keeping it all on a MobileMe server, I wouldn't have gone ahead.
Anyway, a Genius confirmed that my settings all look good. I went through the Express Lane chat process and am now in touch with a MobileMe Senior Advisor. We'll see. I'm not especially hopeful but will let y'all know how it proceeds.

UltraNav settings continuously reset

I have an X230t that is only a few days old. I am experiencing a problem with the UltraNav settings. After I set certain settings (e.g. disable tapping, show UltraNave icon on the system tray, etc.) these settings remain in place for a few hours (or maybe day or so). Then, all of a sudden I will notice that all of my UltraNav settings have returned to their default settings. This has happened three or four times over the past few days. I'm assuming I have the latest drivers. This system came from the factory less than a week ago. Does anyone have any suggested solutuions?

Same problem for me on Windows 7. One day, after use the X220 in tablet mode which I rarely do, my trackpad and eraser mouse stopped working entirely, so I went to the Lenovo Update Program and saw a new Ultranav driver was being recommended, I installed that, and it brought my devices back to life, but ever since, I've had the same issue described in this thread. I have custom settings like, max out the speed of the cursor for the eraser mouse joystick and everytime I reboot I have to go into the settings and dial it up to max again. Quite annoying, and never a problem in the past. Also, as mentioned in another thread. Ultranav drivers needs to feature an option for the middle mouse button... to work as an actual middle mouse button. I'm using Windows 8 on a second partition along with Windows 7 and I decided not to keep ultranav at all with the Win 8 install, because the default generic windows drivers treat the physical middle mouse button on the Lenovo x220 as an actual middle mouse button, wow, what a concept. This is very important to me and how I use this machine. I'd love to install Ultranav again, it has some great features, but this fix is a must as far as I'm concerned, sorry I didn't write in to constructively critique this sooner, but I found a work-around with marble mouse on Windows 7 and just stuck with that, but honestly, there is no good excuse not to fix this, many professional editing applications make extensive use of middle mouse, the option should be there, thanks. Hope these issues are addressed soon. Love Lenovo, can't think of another computer out there I'd want over this machine, and will buy Lenovo again in a heartbeat if the support proves to be solid. Fingers crossed.

iPod5 has suddenly gone into a mode that Speaks everything (i.e. "screen dimmed", "screen locked", "Calendar, Monday, May 13th, double tap to open", and when typing, "a, alpha, r, romeo" etc.) but I can't scroll anywhere and I even have to highlight and then double tap to type each letter when typing - even to enter my password to unlock.
How do you turn this off?

Check: Settings - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver = Off.
Please note you will need to use 3 fingers to scroll to various menu items.
This worked but I found it diffucult to scroll even with using 3 fingers.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Wow! I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside. Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly. It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle. Of course I took no pictures!!! I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress... The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect. After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though. There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top. After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen. I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background. After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle. After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange. But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

Firefox has suddenly gone wrong. I was successfully running both Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. My laptop is new and has plenty of RAM and HDD. I auto-accept upgrades including the most recent Firefox upgrade and the suggested upgrade to Adobe Flash 10.1. But after this, Firefox stopped working and does not work when I re-load Firefox 3.6. Also IE8 now works very slowly and does not locate major websites like Microsoft without a 'can't find the website message' and having to pressing Return a second time. When I do get to the Mozilla website and click on the button to try to download Firefox 3.6.6, I get this message "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find mozilla3.snt.utwente.nl". Can you help with what has gone wrong? As it stands, I can't use Firefox at all. Note: because Firefox did not work after the upgrade, I've downloaded the IE8 version of the Adobe Flash 10.1. What I really want is to be able to use both Firefox and IE8. But is this possible if they use different versions of Adobe Flash?

I have been having the same problem as the original poster. After upgrading to Ffx 3.6.6, the program asks you to upgrade to Flash Player Plugin 10.1. I download and installed 10.1 only to find videos weren't loading.
In my case, the problem is the previous installation of Flash Player (9.0.47) was somehow messing things up. To fix this, because I already had Flash plugin 10.1 installed I had to uninstall 10.1 using the uninstaller from adobe and then manually remove any files related the old flash player plugin 9.0.47
Here is a run-down of my process:
0. To check if you have a previous installation of the Flash Plugin lurking around, in Firefox go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins (tab). At this point you may seen both Flash plugins.
1. Proceed to uninstall Flash Plugin 10.1. Adobe provides an uninstaller here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
( you have to make sure you have nothing running when you execute the installer).
2. On my Mac (sorry I don't know what it is in Windows) I searched the hard drive for any files/folders with "Shockwave". I found a folder called "Shockwave 10". It wasn't removed by Adobe's uninstaller. For safety I deleted it and then emptied the trash.
3. I then went to My HD -> Library -> Internet Plugins.
Remove the file and folder named "Flash player.old"
4. Restarted; ran the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 installer. Restarted again.
5. Opened up ffx and double checked the plugins list (see step 1). Version 10.1 is installed and available. Went to problem sites to test it out and Success!

Settings are gone after restarting computer

After I'm restarting my computer my settings are gone. I'm not sure if all of them, but this is what I need to change:
- all toolbars are enabled (in standard setting I don't have everything on all the time)
- my start pages are not the same
- FF behaviour after restart is not the same
- my default download directory is not as it was before.
What is more - if I'm closing FF and then opening again without restarting my computer - everything is fine. It is just happening after I'm restarting my computer. It is like some settings are removed after restarting ...

What's more - I'm usually putting my computer in stand by or hibernate mode, so it can be caused by that. I'm restarting computer only if needed ...

Has anyone else encountered a situation where images suddenly gone missing?

i've had files suddenly gone missing on me several times. i was so sure that this might be a bug but now i think it's user error. at least my error.
a few times i wanted to delete one image and then found that several other images disappeared on me. here i realize that i forgot to deselect all of the other images before deleting the one image i intend to delete.
another time for some unexplained reason, so it seemed, several images disappeared on me. poof! i couldn't find them anywhere, but i didn't think to look in the Rejected library. later on i realize that i've pressed the zero key by mistake while the images were selected. the zero key rejects the images and placed them in the Rejected library. i've found some of my missing images in this library. phew!
for those of you who have some missing images, and haven't taken a look inside your Rejected library, take a look and maybe you'll find some of your missing images in there.

You might just need to clear your search by selecting
the "x" in the search field.
Not quite the same as going into the search field and changing the rating slider and selection to show only deleted as by just clearing the search field does not change the slider rating and you'll still not see the rejected files.

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups? if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again. Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone? If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

MDT 2012 - Auto login settings were gone at the end of the deployment

I need to make some PC for public use (Has a local user account that no need to login)
There's no problem for me to created the local user account and and its profile folder by using custom tasks.
The auto login settings also successfully set by modify the registry or use Sysinternals - Autologon.exe
But after the last restart of th PC (I set to restart at the end of the deployment), Windows stuck at the login screen.
Then I found that all the auto login settings were gone (Both in the registry and netplwiz).
Since this custom task is place near the end in the Task sequence (which means there should be no other task that can influence it). So, I suspect may be the Group Policy reset all those settings.

I had the same problem, and these were my solutions:
Comment out the relevant lines in LTICleanup. I tried to avoid this, in case any updates to MDT reversed the change. Also even if I documented it, it might not be apparent to another technician years down the line. I prefer to leave the MDT files unchanged.
Create a script that runs after the task sequence has completed. This is the option I chose, and it was a bit more complicated than it appeared.
What I did was as follows:
Create a new AutoLogon Script application.
The "application" must consist of two script files: install and autologon.
The "install" script does the following:
Copy the "autologon" script to a temporary folder on the local drive
Create a new scheduled task which runs on startup, as the SYSTEM user, and runs the "autologon" script (using schtasks.exe)
The "autologon" script does the following:
Create the relevant registry keys to enable automatic logon.
Delete the above scheduled task.
Reboot the workstation.
In the MDT task sequence, create a new task at the very end, which installs a single application. Choose the AutoLogon Script application.
In your CustomSettings.ini, set FinishAction=REBOOT
So at the end of your task sequence, the workstation will reboot. It will then run the autologon script after boot up, but will not autologon. When the script finishes, it will reboot again, at which point it will autologon with the details you specified.
It's a little fiddly, but works for me.
