Ultraslim Keyboard/Mouse - lost mouse and dongle

Hi all,
I had Lenovo Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard & Mouse 0A34067 model (U.S. with Euro symbol) with mouse OB 58509, but as in the subject, I lost my mouse and dongle. Can I use another mouse model and pair them with keyboard? If yes please tell which model I should use.

I spoke with mac support and the tech had the bright idea of scraping the ends of the batteries. That was after I explained to him that the items paired with no problem, but they were not discovered after rebooting. His second idea was to reformat the hardrive, which I had previously done a week ago due to some programs I could not get rid of. I took the mouse and keyboard back. I probably would get a better answer from the manufacturers of the products. I did not feel like going through it. Thanks for your advice you are probably correct on this topic.

  • Control a computer without keyboard, mouse and screen

    Hello,
I have installed ARD3 in a MacMini Core Duo and it works perfect.
After that I remove the keyboard, mouse and screen I start the mini just with the power and network cable but I can't log into it. I guess there has to be a way to control the machines in that way.
    Regards,
    2pacy

I think the reason you've received no replies is because nobody understands the question you are asking.
You stated "I have installed ARD3 in a MacMini Core Duo and it works perfect." and then followed it up with "...but I can't log into it."
What did you install on the mini? The agent? The administration software? If you installed the administration software, the agent is not turned on by default. This means that even though you may have been able to run the application, you won't be able to connect to the machine from another computer.
We are happy to help, but we need to understand the question being asked.

  • Trouble with bluetooth keyboard/mouse and wake from sleep option

    Hi,
I have a 12" PB G4 that has in-built BT. I got a Microsoft Elite bluetooth desktop (keyboard + mouse) and the keyboard and mouse are recognized by my Powerbook but the option to "Allow bluetooth devices to wake up this computer" option is dimmed so I can't check it.. I googled and came upon Apple's howto on this and downloaded/installed the latest firmware.... no luck.. I opened up the firmware updater in Applications\Utilities and hit the Update button but get an error saying no apple bluetooth module exists... given that the keyboard and mouse do show up in the list of bluetooth devices, does this mean that there is no firmware update for this make of keyboard/mouse?
Anything else I can try to get this option to work so I can use the BT keyboard/mouse to wake up the computer?
    Thanks,
    NG

Seems I am the only one using a Bluetooth mouse. I went a bought a mouse with an RF receiver and have packed the BT mouse away.

  • Bluetooth keyboard, mouse and trackpad not responding after 10.8.5 update

I updated to 10.8.5 on my iMac this morning.  The update has killed my trackpad, mouse and (presumably) keyboard as well.
OS X will boot to the log on screen but the mouse pointer is stuck in the top left of the screen.  Trying keyboard, mouse or trackpad obtains no results.  Switching the bluetooth devices off and on, will obtain a connection lost and connected on the screen but still the pointer will not respond.
I have tried hard booting to computer twice now and it has not resolved this.  As of right now I am totally unable to use my iMac due to the software update as I have no wired keyboards or mice.
    Help!

Maybe they will work in the Safe Mode.Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application uninstaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Xorg 1.7.1+xf86-video-intel 2.9.1 brokes keyboard,mouse and screen

Hello there. I'm using Archlinux with core+extra repos (xorg-server 1.6.3 and intel drivers 2.8.1). Today I've tried to update to xorg-server 1.7.1+xf86-video-intel 2.9.1 drivers.
After X restart I've got strange screen (Acer One 110 netbook), seems like it vertical divided and I can use only left half of it. But at bottom right corner I can see icons of gxneur and xchat (if running) on stalonetray. All other right half of display as "black hole" - can't see windows moved there and so on.
Keyboard and mouse also doesn't work. Updating xf86-input-keyboard/mouse from testing repo can't solve problem. Also I have "Option "AutoAddDevices" "disable"" in my xorg.conf. So..I've tried to back to previos versions of xorg-server and intel drivers.
Keyboard and mouse are works now, but screen is still vertical divided.. It looks like there is strange transparent "always on top" window at right half of screen, which hides all other windows under it, but couldn't be seen itself.
So.. what can I do to take back working X?

Ok. System upgraded from testing repo. Keyboard and mouse are works. But strange area on screen is still there. It's a strange framebuffer or smth same I think.

  • Apple wireless keyboard, mouse and trackpad battery management is SO MESSED UP! HELP!

I have like 2 dozen batteries that I have swapped in the days since 10.8.4. The **** thing just drains in like 4 days. I am using apple wireless keyboard and mouse/trackpad (either at a time) with my macbook pro that is in closed lide clamshell mode less than a feet away from these devices. the batteries are draining like crazy! 3-4 days! they used to work for like weeks! i have heard in another thread that there is some bluetooth driver issue.
i know many of you would come up with things to check for like other wireless devices, etc. but like I said i have been using this since 2011 and only now since 10.8.4 they have gone crazy!
whats even more weird is that i dont think the batteries are really draining. its something to do with the battery management hardware/software that fails to see the power inside. when i remove the currently dead battery and put in one that was indicated having 0% charger i get a magically 50+ % sometimes event 80! a reboot and the figure is something else! since this is happening with all the three input devices i think its something to do with macbook pro.
    any fix?
    Neerav

    SOLUTION:
Put the devices in "Manual paring mode"
    1. Turn device off.
    2. Push and hold in power button until the LED starts flashing on and off.
    3. Try the paring procedure.
    4. It should work.
I went to the apple store and this is what they did. They got the trackpad paired no problem, but the keyboard would refuse to make connection. At first they blamed windows and didn't want to replace the keyboard because it worked fine under OSX. However I made them try one of their keyboards and it paired fine. So they ended up swapping out my keyboard for one of the newer ones and now it pairs with both windows and OSX with no problem!

  • Help with setting up mac mini w/keyboard,mouse and external hard drive

OK, first, I filled my mac mini with photos and music, so I bought an exteranl hard drive and thought I copied over my library, but only half of it shows up. (Another questions)
But, now that I have 3 things using the USB ports and only 2 USB ports available, how do I set this up. I tired a 4 port, but what ever I plug into the 4 port USB does not work.

If I understand the problem, you have a 4 port USB hub that is not working.
The obvious suspect is the hub. I trust it is a powered USB hub, i.e. one you have to plug it into an external power source. A hub that draws its power from the Mini is not a good idea, since that would be asking the Mini to provide power to the two built-in ports as well as four external ones.
(I have a Keyspan usb 2 four port externally powered hub hooked up to my Mini. It works flawlessly.)
Even if your hub is powered, it is still the first suspect.

You've got it right. The SSD can be upgraded, though it's expensive and potentially voids the warranty. The RAM can't be upgraded at all.
Can you return it? If not, your only option may be to sell it.

  • New wireless mouse and keyboard issues

I have a new 20", 2.4GHz alu iMac, and I ordered it with the new bluetooth keyboard, and bluetooth mighty mouse. They've always worked great, but yesterday, the mouse has had intermittant lag, and it says that the keyboard has lost connection. I've been running Leopard since it came out, and I've never had such problems with Tiger. I reinstalled Leopard a few hours ago (erase and install), and I'm still getting the lag. I wanted to see whether it is my mouse, so I tried pairing it with my brother's white intel iMac, and it couldn't pair, but it made my brother's bluetooth mighty mouse lag too! Could this be due to interference? Our rooms are right beside each other.
Also, when the lag occurs, I get the message that its lost connection with the keyboard, however it still works perfectly. The lag is very noticeable, and it takes about 3-4 times longer for the mouse to move, while being very choppy. This is for about 10-15 seconds, and then it goes normal speed again.
Is anyone else having this challenge? Could anyone diagnose whether it's likely to be the computer, the mouse, or interference, (or other!)?
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I have a 6 week old imac 24" alu intel with wireless keyboard & mouse and it was all working fine until the 10.5.1 upgrade. it also started on the same day there was a big rain storm so I thought that might be messing with my blue tooth connections. i have no other bluetooth devices other than the mouse and keyboard. at first it was intolerable. i'd get the keyboard connection lost message every few minutes, the keyboard would continue to function and the mouse would go very sluggish for a minute or 2. this was happening every 5 minutes or so. i deleted each one an reconnected, shut everything off, restarted the computer and it seemed ok for about 1 hour and then it happened again a few times. definitely not as often as before but it still happens from time to time every few hours. power on both is about 75% and seeing as they have new duracel batteries i'm sure they are not dead.
I did the auto update to 10.5.1 and had all the permission issues so then downloaded and installed the larger 100+ meg update. not sure if this has caused any problems.
So far leopard has only been a pain. Reason 4 crashes, Parallels 3 crashes, Mail crashes (I wrote some important notes which I guess don't get automatically saved like drafts and lost the notes when mail crashed several hours after I wrote them), my software update even crashed once. is Leopard built on OS 9 technology? what a disappointment.
Oh and internet and wireless connection to ADSL seems pretty slow, slower than tiger I think.
Windows should start a new campaign called "Come back".
One last beef, do other people find this wireless keyword (metal) not so responsive, letters get missed as I type, space bar is stiff and squeaky, overall not great for someone doing a lot of writing? that's what I think.

  • External monitor with external mouse and keyboard. what am I doing wrong?

I got a iBook G3 with 600 MHz , 640 RAM, running 10.4.10. I bought a external keyboard, mouse and got a free ViewSonic Monitor from school so I hoped that I would be able to use all of these while the lid of my computer was closed. I close it, wait a few seconds, press random keys on my external keyboard to wake it up and it at first appears that it works but then it just goes back to sleep after about 1 min at the most. If you could help me I'd appreciate it. THANKS!!!!

You aren't doing anything wrong; the iBook is supposed to sleep whenever you close it. It's designed to work that way, ostensibly so that it won't overheat.
Apple's word on the matter can be found in this Apple Knowledge Base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88199
Others have addressed the problem by simply darkening the display with the F1 key and leaving the iBook open an inch or so.

  • Mac mini loses mouse and keyboard after sleep.

    Hi Everyone:
I recently bought my Mom one of the new Mac mini (I'm a PowerBook user myself), and she's running into some puzzling problems which, while minor, are sufficiently annoying as to confuse poor old Mom.
The system egnrally runs fine after you turn it on, until it goes to sleep. After some undefined period in sleep mode, the Mac mini appears to "lose" the USB keyboard and mouse which is plugged into it. If you press a mouse button or a keyboard key a few minutes within the system going to sleep, the system will wake up and both will work. If you wait a longer period of time (say, 20 minutes or longer, although I haven't sat and timed it at all), pressing any key or mouse button does nothing, and you have to wake it from sleep by using the power button. Once awake, the keyboard and mouse do nothing. The only way to get them back is to unplug both of them (the mouse is chained through the keyboard as the other Mac mini USB slot is used by Mom's UPS), and plug them back in so the Mac mini can re-detect them on the bus, after which everything is happy again until the system has been asleep for too long.
Has anyone experienced this? Both the mouse and keyboard are genuine IBM (as in: made by International Business Machines), although are several years old (I bought them when I worked for IBM, and IIRC they were amongst the first models of USB keyboards and mice that IBM offered, if not the first).
In the interm, I've lent Mom my Apple Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, which has (as you would expect) worked flawlessly. This problem may "solve" itself -- I'm hoping to take Mom out later this week to buy her own Apple Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at the Apple Store.
The other problem, however, isn't as easy (or necessarily as cheap) to fix. Again after the system has been asleep for some time, it often (but not always) changing the resolution of the monitor when it wakes up. I have the mini set to use a reasonable 1024*768, but sometimes when it awakes it will suddenly be set to 800*600 or 832*624. Sure, you can change it back, but that's major surgury for Mom (and I'm moving cross-country next week, and won't be able to just "drop by" to fix system problems). The monitor is an Ambra SVGA model (Ambra was a brand-name of inexpensive PCs that IBM sold some years ago), and never had any such problems on her last (Intel-based) system the mini is replacing.
The whole purpose of the Mac mini is to "bring your own" Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor -- but in our case the keyboard and mouse don't work at all after sleep, and the monitors resolution gets dynamically changed after sleep. Has anyone else encountered this situations, or any solutions? TIA!
    Brad BARCLAY

    Hey Jan:
I've seen quite a few posts in this regard with non-Apple mice and keyboard.
Well, the mouse and keyboard are quite old -- it could be that they're having a problem dealing with identifying themselves on the USB bus during sleep, or aren't identifying themselves fast enough at wake time. I'll just have to replace them I guess.
I've never seen a sleep resolution switching problem except on a VGA adapter to DVI connection to an old tube monitor.
Well, this is a pretty vanilla CRT monitor circa about 1999, so yeah -- it could once again be an age issue, and the fact that there is a DVI -> VGA adapter involved in the middle.
For worrying about fixing Mom's Mac, setup her remote VNC software (Apple Remote Desktop Client) and use the free Chicken of the VNC admin program.
I am quite familiar with VNC. As much admin as possible will be done by SSH, but I will have VNC in place before I leave. The big problem is going to be the fact that I'm going to be several timezones (and over 4000 km) away, so I won't necessarily be available at a moments notice to help her with this sort of thing.
The CRT issue we might just have to deal with by having her always run it at 800*600 (I don't think she'd really notice the difference, and as her eyes aren't what they once used to be, the slight size increase may be more confortable for her in the long run) until such time they she can afford to buy a nicer display (I did my duty as a son buying her the Mac mini and an iSight camera -- she has to take care of the rest ).
    Yaz.

  • Can I control two Macs with one keyboard & mouse simultaneously?

I'm presently the operator and head audio tech for a major Off-Broadway show. I'm running the show on Ableton Live 6 through a Mac Mini, using a MOTU 828mkIII as the Firewire audio interface to the console. "Show control" is basically straight music playback, plus arming and disarming loops, triggering sound FX cues, and stopping and starting playback. The show has been exceedingly stable, no real reason to worry - but the fact that I don't have a redundant backup system concerns me. Theoretically, I can use our Denon CD players to run the show off of discs I've burned, but it's only viable for me because I know the show; a sub running the show would be up the creek - and if we hit a snag and run out of loops, forget it. Furthermore, those of you who've worked with Live know that in a performance based/show control situation, you can remain in an audio loop indefinitely, without any worry of a CD running out of prerecorded loops. (This is a specific reason why we're using Ableton for this show - the music can keep "vamping" until automation and rigging give me the clear to proceed.)
Considering that I'll be taking some time off this summer, I don't want this to be a concern for my sub(s), so I've charged myself with the task of building a redundant backup. Problem is, I'm not sure how to do it.
What I've been looking at is a dual Ableton Live/Mac Mini/Firewire interface system. Basically, to duplicate what's running the show presently, and have it running in tandem while the main playback system goes to the house - but for both to be controlled by only one mouse, keyboard and screen, so there's no delay in the event of a crash. If one fails, I send the audio from the backup into the theatre. There would be no disruption of playback, except for the operator`s response time in switching to the backup`s audio output.
Software like Synergy and Teleport let me share a single keyboard, mouse, and screen over two or more computers - +but only control one computer at a time+. And I've looked for KVM switches and USB "splitters" but they also seem to be toggle devices between one or another computer - which leads me to think I may have to network the two...
Any ideas are appreciated, even the obvious ones, as I may have overlooked some or assumed some to be out of the question.
That`s basically it - *simultaneous realtime* control of two computers from one keyboard and mouse. Both Minis performing the same task at the same time.
Is there software/hardware that can do it, or can I network the backup as a "slave" that mimics the master?
    Thanks.

Perhaps you could setup a parallel processing network:

  • [Trick] Use Keyboard + Mouse from Xorg to control another Xorg session

So you have two computers sitting together,  you don't have a kvm switch, and using two keyboards and mice is just plan annoying!
X2X is the solution. This program allows you to use your mouse and keyboard from Computer A on Computer B.
    From the man page
x2x  allows the keyboard and mouse on one ("from") X display to be used to control another ("to") X display.
    How to make it work?
Allow TCP from xorg on both systems
    Edit /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc and change
    exec /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp
    to
    exec /usr/bin/X
Computer A = computer that has the keyboard and mouse you want to use
Computer B = computer that does not have the keyboard and mouse you want to use hooked up to it
On Computer B run the command
    xhost +ComputerA
Where ComputerA is the hostname/ip address of ComputerA
This allows ComputerA to connect to ComputerB's xorg server
On Computer A run the command
    x2x -to ComputerB:0.0 -west
Where ComputerB is the hostname/ip address of ComputerB
Now on ComputerA you should be able to move the mouse left, off the screen, and be able to control ComputerB!
I use this to control my laptop using my desktop's mouse and keyboard. It's a lot easier than switching between my desktop keyboard/mouse and laptop keyboard/mouse!

I have tried following your howto, but I seem unable to start X with tcp support. I have changed /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc as you instructed, but when I start X and issue
    ps ax | grep X
from a console, I still get:
    1670 tty7 Ss+ 0:15 /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp vt07 -auth /var/run/slim.auth
Can you tell me what I'm missing? Are these at all related?
    Thanks!
Today I was looking into this and got working very fast using this thread. Are you sure you restarted your X server after changing xserverrc? Are you sure your display is at :0?
    Use
    echo $DISPLAY
on the terminal to find out. Also you need x2x installed on both machines.
