  • Having some weird issues with logic 8

i am almost Positive! that i pushed some buttons or selected something to mess it up, i would be indebted to anyone who can help me with like three issues i'm having
I run my M-audio mobile pre into logic and am having these issues:
#1. track 1 and two seem to be tied together even though i select mono tracks... so i need to leave track two blank otherwise it interferes with whatever is on track one. and on the bar where i drag the loop i was using it has two O's that make like a vinn diagram symbol.
#2. the volume controll (the bottom left fader one) can increase the Db but not decrease...
#3 through my headphones the signal only comes out the right side. i am inputting my guitar/vox into the right input on the mobile pre, but i thought if the tracks were mono, it wouldn't matter.
please please please help, i need to get recording soon!
    thanks.

i figured out the volume issue, with the weird stereo track, i needed to adjust it on both tracks (even though one was empty haha duh)

  • HT5149 I'm having some weird things go on with installing FInal cut in app store the icon has turned in a question mark and app store keeps freazing

this is the issue I am having it keeps creashing, I have older mac pro 2x 2.8 quad-core, 24 gig ram 2.5TB storage on system drive, so should be no issues there, I updated to Mavricks just so I could get this update, I need for 5k redcore epic edit. I have gone through and tried deleating the previous version, with all the application support files and cache as per guide, Its really frustrating.

I guess you have tryed to log out and then log in again? Could help to repair permision and restart the computer. You are in the purchases section since you have deleted FCPX ?

  • Weird menubar glitch

I'm having a weird menubar glitch sometimes when changing from one app to another. Both menus from two different apps show at the same time at the menubar. The only way to restore the expected state is to use command+tab when it happens. =/
    Here's a screencap of the bug: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15865634/Glitch.jpg
Does anyone know a solution to this? =/
    (I'm on 10.6.6)

*What kind of MAC you are using?*
    A macbook white, late 2009
*Did you try a simple reboot?*
Yes, I reboot every day or so
    *Did you try repair permissions?*
More than one time, and haven't solved the issue =/
*What did you do BEFORE this started ... adding a Application or what?*
Last thing I remember was the installation of an app called Alfred, but I did ended its service, and the issue persist.
*Did you try to RESET the PRAM?*
This one I did not try, how can I do it?
*Did you try to download the OSX 10.6.6 Combo Update?*
Didn't either, should I try to reset the pram first?
    Thanks for the reply =)

  • Weird keyboard behavior in MacBook Pro 13'

Hi guys, I have a MacBook Pro that's starting to show a strange keyboard behavior.
The problem is that the keys: e r t y u i o (curiously all belong to the same row) sometimes get unresponsive.
It's very annoying of course and it happened about 4 months after upgraded to Lion.
The geneal perfomance of the laptop was deteriorated and I've read that a clean install of Lion might help so I've did it thinking that it will also fix any OS weirdness about the keys too.
The machine works way better after the clean Lion install but the problem of those same keys persist.
What I did next was to reset the PRAM thinking it might be interference from some weird state there. But after the reset the problem persisted.
Curiously, I've figured out that when, for example the i key gets unresponsive, if I press AND hold the e key then the i key works totally fine (think of typing an "I" but using e instead of shift).
If, when pressing the unresponsive keys, I use different angles or quantity of force in the pressure of the keys or cornes of the key the behavior stays the same. The only thing that seems to affect is holding the e key down before pressing it. Every time it gets weird I do it and it kind of get normal for a while.
Also, sometimes, keeping some seconds the unresponsive key ends up getting responsive again (but not always).
This mac has about two years now and it's very well preserved.
Do this happen to anyone? ideas?
Is there some other thing than PRAM I could reset to see if it gets normal again?

You are making me dig into nightmare-ish memories here.
    Ok, I'll share.
    This is how turned out:
Needed to send my MBP to another town with an Apple authorized service provider and asked to change the keyboard for a new one.
It was ~20 days waiting until they got the new keyboard part from Apple and about ~3 more to get it fixed and ~2 more to get it again in town.
I received it very well packaged and all was fine after that but the whole thing was very expensive, ~40% of the price I paid for the whole MPB in the first place plus all that time without being able to use it.

I am having some huge problems with my colorspace settings. Every time I upload my raw files from my Canon 5D mark II or 6D the pics are perfect in color. That includes the back of my camera, the pic viewer on my macbook pro, and previews. They even look normal when I first open them in photoshop. I will edit, save, and then realize once i've sent it to myself to test the color is WAY off. This only happens in photoshop. I've read some forums and have tried different things, but it seems to be making it worse. PLEASE HELP! Even viewing the saved image on the mac's pic viewer is way off once i've edited in photoshop. I am having to adjust all my colors by emailing myself to test. Its just getting ridiculous.

Check the color space in camera raw, the options are in the link at the bottom of the dialog box. Then when saving make sure you save it to the srgb color space when sending to others. Not all programs understand color space and or will default to srgb. That won't necessarily mean it will be accurate, but it will put it in the ballpark. Using save for web will use the srgb color space.

I bought  my MacBook Pro in 2010. This is the first Mac I have owned and recently it is having some difficulty loading we pages, often timing out. This Mac environment is entirely different for me and I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting and/ or clean-up. I have moderate computer skills and try not to download or access questionable material, however recently I visited the Ap Store and purchased a couple of different aps to use in record keeping and for making a flyer. I am not even sure how to remove these programs to see if it helps.
Any tips or tricks are appreciated.
    Thank you!

Time to see about the PRAM battery.

    Hi Peter!
I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:
    https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/
After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:
    * At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
    * Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.
    * At the bottom of the Sync tab click on '''Deactivate this Device''' link

it pops up a script were it says that the macbook cannot find a bluetooth keyboard, and it isnt a keyboard connected
For some reason, your Mac doesn't recognise that a keyboard is present, so it looks for a wireless keyboard. The question is, why doesn't your Mac recognise that a keyboard is attached?
First, you need to make sure you remove all peripherals, especially USB peripherals (the keyboard is on the USB bus). Then restart holding down the Shift key. This should boot in Safe mode. If the computer boots normally (not in safe mode) and the keyboard is still not working, try resetting the SMC

If that still doesn't fix the problem, then the keyboard (or its controller) is probably damaged and needs to be replaced.

  • Really weird keyboard problem with my macbook.

    Hi Everyone,
I've been having an unexplainable keyboard problem all day now. The keyboard on my Macbook is unresponsive, and the trackpad is stuck on right click. BUT when I plug in a USB keyboard, both my macbook keyboard and my trackpad work after I restart. They continue to work for a little while, but a couple minutes after I unplug the USB keyboard, the both stop working again. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Is there anyone out there that has any experience with something like this?
    Thanks!

If cleaning your keyboard does not help, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

This indicates a corrupt file(s).  A restore should resolve.

  • Weird Keyboard Backlight Issue

I'm having a weird problem with keyboard backlighting on my new Macbook pro. In my personal account, I'm unable to adjust the keyboard backlighting using the function keys. No amount of diddling with the preferences will allow me to get this working. However, if I create a new account on the same machine, everything works normally.
As I've migrated from a Powerbook G4 to a Macbook and now to a Macbook Pro, my hunch is that some old preferences still remain on this machine that are conflicting with how it operates. Can anyone tell me how to reset the appropriate preference files so my keyboard backlight will work correctly?

    Hi, Michael -
In theory, what you propose should work.
However, you may be pushing the limit for cable length -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31116
There are ways around that. One is to use an active extender cable, such as one like this -
    http://www.usbgear.com/usa/item_49.html
It is best to eliminate connections wherever possible - each connection is a possible source of corrosion or dirt, which can cause noise; or fault, which can cause loss of connection.

  • IMac or MacBook? Have some questions

iMac or MacBook? Have some questions. If I get a MacBook can I plug an existing monitor I have in via a USB? I could then just add a wireless keyboard as we were originally looking for a desktop but the portability of a MacBook is appealing

You can only connect a monitor through the video port of your Mac. It can be Mini-DVI, VGA, Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt, depending on the MacBook model you get. For example, if you get a 2011 or newer MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, you will get it with Thunderbolt, and if you get the most recent white MacBook, you will get it with Mini DisplayPort.
Then, look at the ports of the monitor and get a Mini DisplayPort adapter (it is compatible with Thunderbolt) and the cable to connect the adapter to the monitor, so you can use it with the MacBook.
If you need performance, the iMac would be the best option, and if you prefer a portable computer without having special performance needs, go for the MacBook

  • Weird keyboard behaviour in TTY

    Good evening,
I just reinstalled Arch Linux on a VPS and I am experiencing some weird behaviour.
I created the Arch Image on my local machine and when it was setup with the most basic features I did send it to the VPs company for them to run.
When I connect to this new install with putty over SSH everything is going fine and my keyboard works.
However when I connect via putty to the 'lights out' service of this VPS and thus reach some kind of TTY environment the keyboard behaviour is totally different! I do not mind that my arrows do not work, or that all the F keys are giving me weird characters. But the most annoying of all is that my Return key (or enter how you want to call it) does print the first character of the command I just typed and does a line break. It is incredibly weird and thus I made you guys a photo.
As you can see when I type uptime then the U is displayed on a new line and nothing happens. If I hit return again then the system will say that the command U does not exists.
However if you continue typing as you can see in the second example then in the end you do get what you want. As you can imagine this is not what should happen.
    /etc/vconsole.conf
    KEYMAP=uk
    FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
    FONT_MAP=
I also tried to enable keymap in the hooks of mkinitcpio.conf but this did not make any difference. I am not sure if the keymap is the problem, if I load it manually it also does not make any difference to the TTY.
Yet again, via SSH nothing is wrong and all works fine. However when I connect with putty to the 'lights out' service then it goes wrong.
Does anybody have an idea what is going on?
    Edit:
    Added thumbnail image. Sorry Inxsible

What I understand is that you are having no problems with SSH, but you are having with PuTTY. Is that right? If so, try playing with PuTTY's settings.
I do use putty to connect to SSH and to the 'lights out'-service of the VPS the arch install is hosted. So in my opinion in both cases it should work the same. However the 'lights out'-service looks as if you are directly connected to the machine via a keyboard and monitor. You also will see all the boot information and the services being started. When it is done booting it will display the login view. I believe you call all of what I just explained a TTY, am I correct?
So if I use putty to connect to these services how come the SSH version works but the 'lights out'-version does not?

  • Any way to power on macbook pro with external wired keyboard without opening the lid?

i mainly use macbook pro with external display and i want to keep lid closed. is there any way i can power on/off the macbook without opening the lid, i know i can power off but powering on?

Just a final question about Sleep mode - does this have any negative effects on the life or performance of the laptop? I'm so used to Shutting down the laptop each day that I worry about Sleep mode having some sort of drain on the components or something.
There are only two practical differences between Sleep and Shut Down:
    1. Sleep will wake instantly, so you don't have to wait for startup.
    2. Sleep will drain a new, fully charged battery after several days without being woken or plugged in. If you shut down, the battery charge lasts much longer. Obviously, if you only sleep it overnight, you'll still have plenty of battery left in the morning.
Don't sleep it more frequently than necessary, though. Frequently turning the backlight and hard drive off and on can shorten their life. Just do what's reasonable. I usually leave mine awake until I have to transport it in a bag, along with sleeping it overnight. On battery, I'll sleep it more often to preserve battery.
