Um, slight problem with 6.0.2...

... as in, it has rendered my iPhoto useless. I cannot edit any photos - I just get white screen, and full screen mode causes the program to hang indefinitely. The probelm occurs with all of my 4,000-odd photos. Old ones, not so old ones, and even photos that I have imported today after upgrading to 6.0.2. I have not yet upgraded my Powerbook and I certainly won't be doing so given what it did to my Mini.
I searched and read about a similar problem with earlier versions of iPhoto 6, but I didn't have those issues until now. I see that some people managed to resolve this with elaborate fixes, but I do not want to go messing around with Terminal as I am not sufficiently knowledgeable. This is really, really frustrating and annoying - I am the only one with 6.0.2 issues? Come on Apple!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There have been posted several possible solutions to that type of problem. You can view them here:

If you don't want to mess with the terminal download and open BatChmod and drag the iPhoto Library folder into its window. Set you as the owner and your permissions to all "+". Set you are the group and with all "+" and others +, -, -. Check the Apply ownership and privileges box and the unlock box. Then click on the Apply button.

  • Slight problem with video playback

    Hi all,
    I have a slight issue with the right hand side of my 20" iMac when using frontrow. Playing back DVDs is fine, good quality but when I try to playback a Movie that I have on the HD it has a white flickering line down the right hand side, its only a thin line but very annoying. It doesn't do it on VLC but on Realplayer and Frontrow. The files are AVIs if it helps.
    Thanks in advance

    You could try adding the Codecs from Perian to Quicktime.

  • A Slight Problem with an Assignment (Very Easy)... Plz Help!

    Objective: charAt()
    Question: Write a program that lets you enter in any word and that will print out the original word and its reverse. If you entered "compiler", it would print out:
    The original word is compiler
    The reverse of the word ls relipmoc
    //Below is my attempt to write this program. As you can see, i am using 'c' instead of the 'systemout', because our school uses a special program that uses 'c' instead. I see your method of running the loop backwards works
    too. How would I do it if i wanted to run it
    forward???You mean print the characters from a String, one character at a time from left to right?for(int i = 0; i < length; i++){
      c.print(word.charAt(i));
    }>
    I have a question about your fragment:
    for(int i = length-1; i >= 0; i--)
    c.print(word.charAt(i));
    Why is it i = length - 1? The characters in Strings are indexed starting at 0. So, if you have the word "duke" 'd' is 0, 'u' is 1, 'k' is 2, and 'e' is '3'. The length of this String though is 4 (4 characters long). So, if you want to start with the last character in the string, you will start with character whose number is one less than the length. Did I explain that right?
    What the loop I posted does is count backwards from the end of the String to the beginning (right to left). "for(i = length-1; i >=; i--)" translates to (in english) "start with i equal to length-1 and keep looping as long as i is not less than 0, decrementing i on each iteration". make sense?

  • I have a slight problem with aiport extreme

    i have 2 airport extremes, one as the main base for internet and one up stairs for my tv and whatever. i have 3 5Ghz devices, one is xbox 360 (works great) 13" macbook pro (works great) then alienware m17x with a broadcom a/g/n card on Win 7. (not working to well. only connects on a 2.4Ghz when extend wireless is checked) but when i turn off the airport extreme up stairs it connects to the 5Ghz down stairs. i have also noticed it is a windows 7 problem. how? i have windows 7 on my macbook pro and when i get on the wireless up stairs it shows that i am connected at 2.4Ghz. what might cause windows 7 to connect to a 2.4Ghz when the airports are in a extend wireless setting?
    my xbox and macbook pro can both connect to the 5Ghz up stairs and down stairs fine. its only the windows part of my macbook pro and my alienware m17x that connect at the 2.4Ghz when the wireless is extended. if i do not extend it they will connect to the down stairs airport extreme at 5Ghz.

    This may not address your issue directly, but in general when there is more than one base station in a dual-band Wi-Fi network, a Wi-Fi client will connect to whichever one is seen as having the strongest signal (in some sense), regardless of band.

  • Hiya i have a slight problem with my iphone 4

    Hy all
    I have a little problem, my iphone 4 is water damaged and i know i need to get the dock unit and speaker changed as they dont seem to work cos theres no sound but it does activate the phone when plugged into a power source. I have changed for a new battery and the phone works fine but when the battery is connected and the phone is either on or off it gets extremely hot by the battery connector. As soon as i unplug the battery and turn the phone on by plugging into a power source the heat dissapears. I have 2 iphone 4 batterys and cant imagin they are the problem but could well be, was just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem. And yes iv done all the resetting and closing programs and things.
    Could it be the motherboard? Although iv had that out and its clean as a whistle
    Many thanks for any help

    The iPhone is not user servicable. You are walking around with a fire hazard in your pocket. Find a competent repair shop or purchase a new phone.  Since you've opened it, it is no longer eligible for the $149 out of warranty replacement you could have gotten from Apple.

  • 2 Slight problems with SB Audigy 2 and Logitech X-

    Here's the first prob, my speaker set used to work perfectly fine, but one day, I unplugged my X-620 speakers, and used headphones, after re-plugging my X-620 speakers, I realised that the subwoofer and rear right speaker are ALWAYS on, when I turn down the knob on the speaker set, they are still very audible, if I take CMSS off, it stops this from happening, but I don't get any noise from my rear speakers, is there anyway to make it so that the speakers behave normally, because the sub and rear right are audible when vol is 0, the sound becomes really distorted when I turn it up loud.Second problem is regarding Norton Antivirus, I think my SB 2 software is inerferring with Norton AV 2005, could this be true?

    hmm.....don't think I understand what problem you have fter reading your post. Have you disable CMSS?Message Edited by justaguy on 0-04-200706:50 PM

    Try This...
    Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
    Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Slight problem with iWork

    I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction please.
    I bought iWork 09 see below.

    IWORK '09 RETAIL-INT
    My original laptop which it was installed broke and I have just got a replacement today, I am installing everything again except I cannot find the DVD box for iwork09 anywhere, the house is now a mess, the baby loves that daddy has gone mad and my partner is wondering if I'm ever going to clear up.
    I've installed a 30day online trial which will keep me until I clean up the house.
    Does anyone reckon Apple give me a serial number to activate the trial or send me another disk?
    Who do you think it is best to speak to first without lots of phone conversations?
    Many thanks
    David

    I'm sure that the Apple response would have been different after a fire or a flood.
    Probably not since the disc version requires no serialization - I suspect that Apple would replace the disc only if he could supply an identifiable melted or broken disc.
    Back in the days before nearly universal internet downloads one of my clients lost everything when the building his office was in burned to the ground. I had copies of all his serial numbers and receipts of the software I'd purchased for him so all we needed were new installation disks. While most companies issued new disks (with most charging a nominal shipping & handling fee) several took the attitude that he should purchase new even though in each case we could supply proof of purchase. Adding insult to injury, his insurance company insisted replacement software wasn't their responsibility because it wasn't specifically written into the policy.

  • Slight problem with Creatize Zen X

    I just bought this today, and I was transferring some files from my computer to this. However, the battery bar went all the way down to nothing only after about an hour of transfer (it was previously full), and the it heated up significantly. Is there something wrong, and are there any possible solutions to this problem? Thank you.

    Nope, doesn't sound like there's anything wrong.
    File transfers uses a signficant amount of battery.
    Also when the hard disk is operating almost constantly it does generate a fair bit of heat.

  • Slight problem with threads....

    Hello,
    Just started learning threads a few days ago.. my objective is to move an oval from left to right, then right to left, back and forth and so on.. however, it wont work, the source code i have below seems logical, but it doesnt fulfill my objective..
    // The "MovingCircleUsingThreads" class.
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class MovingCircleUsingThreads extends Applet implements Runnable
        int x = 0;
        Thread t;
        public void init ()
            t = new Thread (this);
            t.start ();
        } // init method
        public void run ()
            try
                while (true)
                    repaint ();
                    Thread.sleep (20);
            catch (Exception e)
        public void paint (Graphics g)
            int speed = 10;
            Dimension d = getSize ();
            g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
            x = x + speed;
            if (x + 50 == d.width)
                speed = -10;
    } // MovingCircleUsingThreads classI think the paint method is wrong, but it all seems logical.. x starts off in the left side, moves to the right side by 10, when x + 50 == d.width, the oval is at the right edge, and speed = -10, so it should be moving to the left by 10, but instead, the oval disappears.. :( can anyone help?
    public void paint (Graphics g)
            int speed = 10;
            Dimension d = getSize ();
            g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
            x = x + speed;
            if (x + 50 == d.width)
                speed = -10;
        }

    public void paint (Graphics g)
    int speed = 10;
    Dimension d = getSize ();
    g.fillOval (x, d.height / 4, 50, 50);
    x = x + speed;
    if (x + 50 == d.width)
    speed = -10;
    }So you are setting speed to -10, and then you are
    leaving paint?
    Can not see this having any impact on processing...Im setting speed to -10 because I want the oval to go left.... But it wont, after the oval goes from left to right, it disappears..
    Try changing the following:
    if (x + 50 == d.width)
    speed = -10;to
    if (x + 50 >= d.width)
    speed = -10;
    Tried changing that before, oval disappears after it goes to right side :\

  • Slight Problem with Applet

    I am done making a current applet that I am working on it. I made the html, ran it in IE, and..I got an error. Here is the first one of many, and I think it is the main one:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission lol2.WAV read)
    lol2 is the name of my wav file btw.
    I have the program/wav files/html in one project, is that ok to do?
    So what exactly is this error, and how do I solve it?
    I researched a while, and I saw something about "signing" an applet. What is that, and if that is what I have to do, how do I solve it?
    Thank you lots.

    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission lol2.WAV read)Uh-huh. I've seen this before a couple of (hundred) times.
    lol2 is the name of my wav file btw.
    I have the program/wav files/html in one project, is that ok to do?(shrugs) If by 'one project' you mean the 'same directory' on the server, then that will work just fine. If not then you'll need to translate your IDE-talk to Java or plain old English.
    So what exactly is this error, and how do I solve it?
    // Note that Java is case sensitive.  lol2.WAV!=lol2.wav
    URL urlToWav = new URL(getDocumentBase(), "lol2.WAV");
    AudioClip audioClip = getAudioClip(urlToWav);
    I researched a while, and I saw something about "signing" an applet. What is that, ..By digitally signing an applet, it requests 'trust' from the user. If the user grants that trust, some of the security sand-box restrictions around the applet are removed. A trusted applet can open File objects from the local file-system of the end user's PC, but a File object cannot refer to a resource back on the server.
    It's good you put some research in, but in this case, the answers you found have led you down a wrong trail. Abandon File objects and access Applet resources using URLs.

    if you change to changes without automatic recording /automatic recording of changes then it won't ask transport request

  • Problem with trees(Duplication of the parent node in creation of  children)

    Hi guys i am experiencing a slight problem with the creation of trees.Here is a clear explanation of my program.I created a program that generates edges from a set of datapoints then use each and every edge that is generated to create multiple trees with the edge as the rootnode for each and every tree.Everything up to so far everything went well but the problem comes when i want the program to pick every single tree and traverse through the set of generated edges to create the children of a tree.What it does at the moment for each tree is returning the a duplication of the parent node as the child nodes and that is a problem.Can anyone related with this problem help.Your help will be appreciated.

    Your program description makes no sense. What exactly is it supposed to do?
    Your errors make no sense. What is it doing wrong?
    Your program output makes no sense. Look up pre-order, in-order, and post-order notation for representing trees. Pick one of those that you think would be best. I would go with pre-order. Because what you are doing isn't understandable.
    By the way, I think your concept of a tree is flawed. A node in a tree has 3 things. it has a reference to its parent, it has references to any of its children, and it has some key value that represents the node (if each node were represented by numbers, the value would be an integer or something). In the case of the root, its reference to its parent is null. I don't know what you are doing with your tree, but it is highly confusing.

  • ICS Problems with D4

    I just downloaded ICS to my Droid 4.  I know ICS is geared around 4G service.  Since downloading, I have had real good service in 4G areas.  However, my 3G area service has been terrible.
    I live in a 3G area and before downloading, I would have 3 and 4 bars on my service.  Since downloading ICS, I am lucky to have 2 bars.  And it is not only in my home area.  I was in an area yesterday that is very saturated 3G area.  Where I usually have full bar service.  Most of the day I had only 3 bars of service.
    I know that the update was not suppose to have anything to do with signal strength.  But is it possible that it is blocking 3G to an extent somehow?
    Someone please help.  I am having serious problem with service at home.  I have contacted VZM tech support.  They tried to call me and the call would not go through.  They have put in a repair ticket, but I always get the same answer from the field techs.  I live in a limited service area.
    I do live in a rural area with only one tower.  But I am smack in the middle of the coverage area.  I SHOULD have and have had great coverage in the past, but I don't now for some reason.
    I have tired a network extender.  My internet is not strong enough for it to work.
    Someone please help.  Any suggestion will be appreciated.  Except to move.  LOL

    I did a Factory Reset to my phone after the upgrade.  Phone acting up was blamed on an app that "might" have been causing problems.  Might have been.  I love that line.  When ever someone (VZW or Motorola) has an issue with a phone, right off the bat it is an app causing the problem.
    I know a virus can invade a phone and a computer and such, but with all the hype before marketing, I thought that the D4 was such a secure phone.
    But to answer the question about the battery life.  I have not seen any issue with my battery life since ICS.
    ICS has made my D4 faster.  And some things even work better.  But maybe, just maybe they should think about fixing the bugs next time before releasing a major "upgrade".  I know every bug can't be "fixed".  I totally understand that.  But to me this seems like more than a slight problem with ICS.
    Mindy.  My suggestion with the iPhone.  Please don't be a fool.  I will stack my D4 up against any iPhone out there and have on many occasions.  And even with the problems right now with the ICS.  I still take my D4 over an iPhone without even a thought.
    I use my D4 daily and not just at a phone.  I watch TV.  I listen to music.  I send and receive emails.  Like any normal phone.  But I have done searches with my phone that iPhone can't do.  I have done internet things on my D4 that the iPhone can't do.  And please, all you iPhone users, don't ask me what.  I have no idea.  I don't use an iPhone.  All I am going by is using them side by side.
    People have asked me to do things with my phone that they can't do with their iPhone.  And yes.  There are things that the iPhone can do that the D4 can't do.  But as of yet, I haven't found anything that I could not do without.  In the reverse.  There are things that my D4 does that the iPhone doesn't that I couldn't live without.
