UM150 hooked up via 2 USB ports on iMac12,1 can't get A1409 to work

Pantech UM150 works perfect.  Tried a hotspot, after getting five bad ones, in 14 months from Verizon.  I went back to my UM150, which is flawless.
It is hooked up to my iMac, via a wye utilizing two USB ports.  Great speeds and signal.  So it is wireless like my phone, also my modem.  Will work with 1 USB port, thou it comes with a wye to use two ports.  Makes it allot faster.
So I just bought a new ( to me ) unused Time capsule A1409 2TB.  I figured I could just hook up a RJ45 / Cat 5.  Going from the make to the ethernet WAN Port and make it work, not.  At least go to one of the 3 LAN ports and move my data / backup that way, not.
Bought these items below > to go from USB male UM150, female USB connector both sides, in the middle.  Than a male USB to a RJ45 connector and run a male x male Cat5 to the Time Capsule.
Tried all kinds of stuff that I don't even remember.  A1409 did go green and I think I did a backup, woke up and Mac was off.  Thou when I run my Sophos scan it sees 600k items on an external HD.
Just want to backup dailey and use it as a wi-fi spot for my PC and blu-ray in another room.
Also a picture of my wireless modem / UM150 and wye connector at the bottom.
Thanks for any help.

Oh, thats not exactly what I meant
Basically:
The server serves Web and QTSS via 204 to the world via en0.
Then, there's 5-10 machines or so on 128 (and 1-2 on 204) that sync over 3TB of data to the machine via 128 (this sever is the only one we have on site that has raids hooked up to it, so its the central data storage so to say), so en1 is pretty much completely saturated between 12am and 8am (and during the day when there's a lot of new work going on). Originally we used to do this over the primary web interface and all the web traffic would suffer (and especially qtss... we'd start getting disconnected errors all over the place when we started up massive copies).
Half of the machines are 204's and the rest are 128's, which is why we want the ability for en1 to be able to talk locally to machines on either 204 or 128, without having to interrupt the main interfact (if that makes any sense). Does that seem like a sensical solution?
If it also helps visualize a bit:
I only have access to register 8 machines on the 204, and TONS on the 128, but im not allowed to serve .com traffic on 128. Technically, the 128 does talk to the 204 locally on location, but its done through a nasty switch and we dont see much higher than 10Mbps tops.

  • I have a super slim usb 2.0.  Can't get it to work on macbook air.  Any ideas?

I have just bought a super slim usb 2.0 disc drive but I can't get it to work on my macbook air and now a dvd is stuck in it!  Any ideas?

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • I am hooking up my new Time Capsule.  Can't get Ethernet to work

I am trying to hook up the Time Capsule.  I've given up on trying to have it in series with my existing router.  I replaced the existing routher with the TC.  The Wireless seems to work (but one of our phonse wont' hold the connection). BUT, none of the ethernet connections work at all.  I have cycled everything through the whole power down/restart cycle and no devices (including my MAC (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50)) can connect.  I checked the physical cable and it works (ie, I can connect a laptop to the existing router through the same cable).
I should mention that even with the "old" set up my MAC would not connect to the router via the ethernet cable.  I know that MAC wants to run wirelessly but I have very easy access to an ethernet connection back to the router and I'd rather it run on this conneciton.  I was particularly hopeful for this for the TC since the first wireless back-up is estimated to take about 18 hours.
    Help?

You asked the question at 4.01pm.
I answered your query at 4.46pm
... and you gave up by 4.58pm when you posted it is now boxed up and going back..(Local time in Australia).
57min from go to woe! Did you ring apple support??
Apple is user friendly.. networks are not.. and Apple didn't supply your network, or modem.. so somehow Apple have to insert themselves. and until we have iISP and iMODEM and I guess eventually iROUTER (instead of TC or AEBS) and iTV then you will always have to do something to get it working.
I am not trying to make light of your frustration as I am sure it is great.. but networks are unfortunately considered easy enough for home user to install without expertise. Whereas for instance a Technician has 2 years training to do it. Some things are too hard for average home user.. and it should be treated as when your washing machine goes bung.. you don't strip it down and replace parts yourself.. you get a washing machine repairer to fix it. Same with computer, no matter how much we are told this is all very simple.. it isn't.

  • I'm getting "Unknown Error 6" when trying to upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.1.  The phone is then stuck on the red iTunes logo + USB screen.  How can I get the phone working again?

I've tried upgrading my iPhone 4S using iTunes 12.01.26 on 4 different computers at home and at the office:
    Macbook Air - OS X version 10.7.5
Macbook Pro - OS X Yosemite
2 PCs running Windows 7 Professional
iTunes downloaded the installer and the installation process seemed to get 90% complete before showing the error, "The iPhone, "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (6)."
The phone is now stuck on the red iTunes logo screen:
How can I get it out of this mode?
I've tried holding the power button and home buttons down for ten seconds, then letting go of the power button, but keeping the home button down for another 10 seconds.  I've also tried Reiboot, Wondershare Dr. Fone in desperation to try to get the phone out of this mode.  Nothing seems to fix it.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

i do that but it keeps getting stuck on the 'preparing to restore i phone' screen for a few mins before coming up with 'unknown error 1603'.
Just doublechecking. Have you worked through the 1603-specific instructions from the following document?

  • New imac doesn't locate old imac hard drive via usb port

I have an old iMac from ~2006 that recently stopped reading the harddrive.  I pulled the HD out and connected it to my new imac via USB port but I can't locate it.  The HD spins/powers up so I know the connector is strong enough to supply power.  We connected it to my husband's PC and he can see that there is a harddrive but cannot see any files to read.  He even tried Catacombe to try to read files but it didn't work.  My first issue is how can I locate my HD on the new mac?  But the main issue is how can I pull data/pictures off of the old harddrive and import them to my new computer.  I don't hear any clicking sounds from the harddrive so it seems to be working.  I can't reformat it because I don't want to lose the pictures on it.  I don't need the old harddrive to work/write.  I just need to pull the information off of it.  TIA.

I was not familiar with catacombae , but now I am .
You have a problem with either a corrupt file system on the hd or a hardware problem with the hd.  I'd say try mounting in disk utility.  Try reparing filesystem on hd.  Try one of the disk repair utilities.  Some have a free trail that let's you know if they can do anything.  You pay to get the data.  Seek profession help.  Pay $$$.

  • I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

Try a different FW800 cable and also try doing a SMC reset. If neither work try another FW800 device to see if it's recognized, if it is then  you know it's not the Mac it's probably the EHD.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Recording Sound via USB Port

How do I record sound from an audio tape into iTunes? Preferably via USB port,

iTunes does not record, so you will need other software to record from your tape. There are a number of audio recording applications available, depending on your needs, including GarageBand, Audacity and many more. Whether any will record a USB device will depend at least somewhat on the device you will be using.
    Regards.

    Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/HP-Officejet-6500-E 709n-wireless-issue/m-p/258853
I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing.

I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions and not have to pay to have the entire main board replaced. Preferably something under $100.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).
