Umlauts not displayed in WebI Rich Client

Hello everyone,
We have a problem with one user machine using Web Intelligence Rich Client 2-tier mode.
Data umlauts (õäöüšž) are turned to symbols and the query result are incorrect.
It's interesting, because metadata umlauts are displayed correctly. For example, the user sees umlauts header of reports.
The problem have to be in one machine, because when same user log in to another computer then umlauts are displayed correctly.
Environment details:
XI3.1 Edge Professional with DI
Build Number: 601
Product Version: 12.3.0.601
Data Source: DWH
Database Name: Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit ...
Auditing: Enabled
Client details:
Windows 7 32-bit
Oracle client 11g
Rich Client version 12.3.0
NLS_LANG = ESTONIAN_ESTONIA.BLT8MSWIN1257

Hi Jana,
normaly this type of problem happens when the NLS_LANG variable is not set or is incorrectly set.

if you can't read it hte resolution is the following
Resolution
Ensure
that the Database is set to UTF8
NLS_LANG
to be set to UTF8 on the database server
If you are
importing the database from another server, make sure that the initial Database
is set to UTF8 too before doing the import/export.
Once this is done proceed as usual to set up Unicode for your
system >>>>Make sure a backup is done before making the
changes<<<<

i'm working with on BO XI R2 SP3 installed on Solaris.
I have problems with special german characters(umlaut) like ü, ö, ä. They are not being displayed correctly in Webi; actually they are displayed following this logic ü = u, ö = o, ä = a.
The problem is that when i'm using a string containing one of those in the filter conditions, the query so generated returns empty results because is not matching the data in the database.
Is there any way to display umlaut in the report result and in the LOV, as they are in the database?
Please any suggestion is more than welcomed.

1>     Check if you have international language support pack installed on Bo server. Check if you have Arialuni.ttf under fonts file under Windows directory on BO Server.
2>     Specify Arialuni.ttf file name in fontaliases.xml under <bo installation>\fonts\

Is it possible in BO XI 3.1 SP3 to use SSO with CMC and Webi Rich Client ?
It works fine with InfoView, Designer and Desktop Intelligence.

What kind of SSO authentication are you trying to set up? (AD, LDAP,...)
I think it's AD regarding your command line.
But be aware that in SSO, you don't need to configure the command line to run the client.

Regarding accessing CMC with SSO, it's not recomended at all as if you break this access, than you can't connect anymore to the CMC and modify settings.

Date Format is different in WebI Rich Client and Infoview

Iam facing problem with date format , but i need the date format as like dd-mm-yyyy.
WEBI Rich Client is displaying the format dd-mm-yyyy.
but in infoview it is displaying like mm/dd/yyyy

Webi rich Client Drivers Issue

Hi,
I am facing errors when i try to run the query in WEBI Rich client whereas when I run these queries directly on the server I am not getting any error messages. Based on the error messages, I think I might need to install some drivers. Can anyone tell me the drivers that we need for Oracle & Microsoft?
When i try to run a Query on the webi rich Client for the Universe that was connecting to oracle, i am getting the following error message:

short answer to your question : it depends on what your consuming.
you need to find out the exact version of these sources (i.e. ORA 11.1? MSAS 2008 SP2? etc)
then identify the middleware from that vendor which is supported by our SAP applications. For that, you need to cross-reference the 'product availability matrix ' (pam) for your specific Service Pack of the BO BIPlatform . www.service.sap.com/pam
then, you need to look at the connectivity of your universes to see which driver they are using (ODBC, JDBC or OLEDB for example) and then download the right file from the DB vendor's site.
then make sure that you install 32 bit MW on your client tools machine, and 64 bit on your server.
You will then need to administer the ODBC data source names (DSN) everywhere .

Bank row was added in webi rich client when using excel as data provider

reproduding steps:
1.open webi rich client.
2.Create a new webi report,then select "local data source"
3.select an excel file as data source.
4.run query.
For example,there are 5rows in excel,but in webi report there are 6 rows,and the last row is bank which is added by webi.

Web Rich Client Login

Hi,
I'm having problems accessing BO Web Intelligence Rich Client. Here is our setup:
- SAP BO 4.1 SP2
- Two SAP BW backends
- Authentication for the 2 BW backends configured, users and roles imported
- Two OLAP connections configured, one for each BW backend.
My problem is configuring access to our 2 backends from the WebI Rich Client. I cannot choose what backend system i want to login to.
Therefore, the system automatically logs in to one of the backends, and I cannot open objects belonging to the other backend.
What I want is something like BI Launch PAD:
It has input fields for SAP system, and therefore I can choose what backend I want to login.
I tried to deactivate the "Default System" authentication option, hoping that some popup asking for system info would show up:
CMC Home -> Authentication -> SAP -> Options
But no system popup appears, and login failed.
Any help?

Your reply was indeed very helpful, and I've already configured my systems, and its working fine.
However its not completely what I wanted, because for one system there will be a generic backend authentication, not user specific. Maybe what I want is not possible.
I will wait to see if anyone can dig further into this, but I will definitely give points.

Which ports does Webi Rich CLient use to connect to Universe etc..

Hello together,
we have the problem that we cannot run Rich Client from computers outside our network - so which ports does webi Rich Client use to connect to BO Serverl?.
It will always say universe not found. Login to rich client and everything else is possible.
It's not an authorisations problem, inside the network people can run the programs fine.

i assume you have enable CMS port on the firewall, apart from this you need to enable IFRS and Connection Server port also.

Webi Rich client - unable to connect to BO 4.0 Server.

Hello All,
we have a same issue while connecting to a BO4.0 server.from WEBI Rich client .
We are able to connect to infoview from browser,and able to open WEBI from browser.
but when tried from WEBI Rich client, we get error : Logon failure due to an internal error.
We have updated the hosts file but did not help.
Please help.

What happens if you change your preferences in BILaunch pad, so that the Webi Rich Client is launched when you Modify webi report ?
This way WRC will be launched in 3-tier mode and if succesfull this will indicate that WRC in 2-tier mode can't connect to CMS and FRS due to either Firewall or other problems.
Also, from WRC machine - can you connect using Designer or IDT ?

If in a SAP implementation project BI reports are being designed using BEx Query Designer, is it necessary/mandatory that the BO reports i.e. Dashboards should be designed using Webi Rich Client tool, or can it also be possible using Xcelsius 2008 (formerly) now SAP BO Dashboards.)

Till now I have very much user friendly with Xcelsius , so should I continue with Xcelsius or start doing R & D on Webi Rich client, so that if at all in the future it is required, it will make my work comfortable :

Export Error on WebI Rich Client

Is there any explanation or any suggested solution for the following problem..
(The reason of being able to export a huge report (greater than 9000 pages) as (.csv) on Infoview, while not being able to export it on WebI Rich Client?)

Alpha Sorting of Universe and LOV in Webi Rich Client

We currently are using both Webi and Webi Rich Client XI3.1 SP4 in Webi the universes and the LOV sort Alpha Numeric automatically, however in the Rich Client the list of universes and the LOV are not sorting Alpha Numeric. In designer we have all the universes with the Force_Sort_LOV set to yes
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated

Have you tried dropping the associated universe LOV and re-publish? This happened to us in the past.
Steps:
1) In the univ designer object properties, deselect the "associate a LOV" in Properties tab. Close. Save. Export to CMS. (this drops the LOV)
2) Go back in univ designer and check the associated LOVs again to rebuild then republish to CMS.
Does this work?

I am also interested in hearing whether this is possible, but I suspect that it is not, unless you have the latest version of Webi, where there is a merging of the two in some ways.
Someone more knowledgeable on this subject should be able to come to your rescue.

Web rich client -- report tabs missing in edit mode

A report was created in web Rich client and then was exported in the BO repository. In view mode, we
see all tabs, but in edit mode,only two tabs are displayed.

I also faced the same issue.
I could replicate the issue suceessfully on a consistent basis.
STEPS to replicate the issue
1.     Create a new webi report using Island Resorts Marketing Universe
2.     Query Panel Objects
a.     Country, Resort, Service, Number of guests
3.     Run query (Tab 1 is created automatically)
a.     Report 1 u2013 Table containing above objects
4.     Right Click Report 1 - >Insert Report -> rename it to u2018Crosstabu2019
5.     Move the report tab to Left such that Crosstab appears as first tab
6.     Drag Crosstab from Templates.
a.     Pull Country and Resort objects as rows to Crosstab
b.     Pull Service as Column to Crosstab
c.     Pull Number of guests as measure to Crosstab
7.     Select Country -> Insert Break
8.     Select Resort -> Insert Break
9.     Select Resort First and Country Second -> Click on Merge Cells button
10.     Select No
11.     Now again click on Merge Cells button
12.     Select Yes this time.
13.     Save the report.
14.     View the report from Infoview. You will see both tabs
15.     Edit the report. (You cannot edit the second tab - Report 1. Edit the first tab u2018Crosstabu2019)
16.     only one tab is visible. Other tab u2018Report 1u2019 is missing.
Observations:
Report Footer appears as the top section in Map -> Structure
So my conclusion is when a reverse merge is applied on Crosstab with breaks, this issue occurs.
But i don't know how to recover the tabs in Edit mode.
Please let me know how to recover the missed tabs in Edit Mode. Also let me know the other scenarios which might lead to the same issue.
