Umm...Uh-Oh??

Okay, so I'm using this PowerMac G5 (wish I could remember the specs on it), and wanted to swap out the SuperDrive. The Sony one was okay, but I need to be able to burn dual-layer DVD's. So I bought Pioneer DVR-710. Now for the instalation, right?
Well, be the "super-mac user" I am, went into uncharted territories I've never gone on a PowerMac before. I've changed hard drives, etc, etc, whatever whatnot. I figured; "Manual, who needs a stinkin' manual?", apparently I do. Long story short; is I ended up taking out all the fans, and two sticks of memory. When I finally realized just how easy it was to change the drive, I did it the way the Apple guide shows you. I put everything back.
But when I turned everything on, I get almost nothing. The screen doesn't turn on, there are no sounds (I'm use to my older macs chiming in a funny tone if the memory is in wrong, and the startup chime doesn't come on). The fans are running full blast now and every 3-4 sec, the white light above the power button blinks twice.
Any ideas?? I didn't shock the board did I? My friend isn't going to kill me for destroying his baby????

A flashing LED means that your RAM is possibly installed improperly. Make sure you've reinstalled it according to the G5's user manual - paired correctly, and starting from the inner banks and working your way out. It may also be that the RAM is just seated badly - make sure it's pushed in enough for the clips to lock at the ends.

Then, you need to sharpen your search skills. A google search for Lion ships today brings up many hits, with this one mentioning a time: http://isource.com/2011/07/19/confirmed-os-x-lion-ships-tomorrow/

FWIW, this is a user forum. We are all users like you. No Apple employees here and Apple doesn't follow these forums. You aren't speaking to Apple here.

this is apperently a unix executable file and i have no idea what it does dont know if i should open it in terminal and see what happens for ***** and giggles or what.

Umm, that looks like, um  a cache file of some sort. But, um, giggles or not, with the amount of information you're um, giving us to work with, um, hard to tell more.

Are you in an area where there is no coverage?
You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't help, then yOu'll need to contact Sprint again.

  • POST built in - Umm, this is the worst and doesn't work as intended..

    Win XP, oracle 10gR2
POST really likes to save my changes.
I post a block, and then goto my next form.. and I use another session with another login to view the data and it has already been comitted.
This may have worked back in Client Server as intended , but it is surely lacking on the web forms.
My form forms coworker said I'll just go busting my brains out trying to get it work, and he never got it work either, and said post doesn't do what you think it is supposed to do.
He thinks we had problems with it even back on Client Server.
    Can anyone else confirm?

    Hello,
    Very easy to test.
Create a basic form on the emp table, do some changes
    then post.
Open another session with Sql*Plus or Sql Developer,
then check if you see the changes or not.
FrancoisI'll change my story to posting with "multiple forms" doesn't work.
Form A - I make changes and POST.
I call form B (the select form)
I then call form C (edit screen) and make a change.
I exit_form C, and say "NO" to forms asking me if I want to save changes.
I exit_form B (no prompt, no base table block).
In form A, I exit_form, and say "NO" to forms asking me if I want to save changes.
I reenter the form A, and the value is changed to the new value.
I just watched the column, and when I called form C - that's when the commit was performed. I see no commit's that were executed when calling for C.
I am trying to avoid a frm-40403 (calling form has unapplied changes).
Post isn't cutting it, so I plan to check the form_status and prompt the user if they want to commit (yes/no/cancel).."No" will cause an frm-40403 if they try to save in the form C. Of course if they say "yes" to commit, it will not have the problem in form C.
    I just checked, and I don't think I have any commits in Form C - if I did - I wouldn't get an FRM-40403 when I try to save in Form C.

  • Folder mysteriously disappeared after update. Umm... help?

    Greetings,
Here's the problem: I had a folder for my desktop pictures which sat happily in my "Pictures" folder before the 10.5 update. It was used as the target folder in the desktop bg system setting. Since upgrading to 10.5 the new desktop bg setting panel shows my wallpaper folder neatly under "Folders" but the folder itself is nowhere to be found in the Finder - not even with Spotlight. Neither any of the files within that folder. They show up in system settings (and all wallpapers seem to be functional) but in the Finder, the folder is gone.
Although I'm not exactly missing some valuable work files here this is still unsettling, somehow. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened here?
    I'd greatly appreciate any thought.

I actually didn't know that there is a window capturing feature in OSX.
If you want the whole Desktop, icons open windows and all, use Command-Shift-3. To capture an open window of any sort, Command-Shift-4, hit the Spacebar, and click the little camera cursor inside the window. You may noctice that the cursor is a crosshairs before you hit the Spacebar, you can click and drag to select any retangular area for your screenshot.
Oh, and for Spotlight to return results inside any system folder (and for reasons that elude comprehension your home ~/Library folder is counted as a system folder), you need to explicitly tell Spotlight you want those results. See my article on Spotlight here:
    http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/Leopard/leospot.html
Might give you some other hints too on using Spotlight effectively in Leopard.

  • Umm. Can anyone identify this glitch with iOS 6.0?

I Just opened a folder on my home screen and this happened, it was only temporary but i wanna know what went wrong.
No, I was not moving any apps, if you can't tell.

Sometimes things like that happen with really no know cause. All y can do is the standard fixes
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT1349 I can't find my serial number, umm my safari icon disappeared please help

    My safari icon vanished

You've checked all your homescreens and app folders for it, and can you find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) ? If that doesn't find it then is it hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being set 'off' ?

  • Umm....I think Apple TV just bricked my iMac :(

I was syncing my Apple TV for the first time to my iMac G5 when all of the sudden the Apple TV froze. I went to check the iMac, and found it to be tuned off. I thought that was pretty weird but just figured something odd had happened. I turned off the Apple TV and unplugged it from the network, then went and turned the iMac back on. It got up to the login window, then promptly turned itself right back off again. I'm starting to get a little worried at this point, so I change the power cord and try again. This time it let me log in, then died when the Finder loaded. I took it out of my surge protector and plugged it directly into a wall outlet. No change. I booted up in single user mode and ran fsck on it - the drive insists it's fine. I unplugged it and left it alone over night. This morning I got about 5 minutes out of it (enough time to get some recent data that I - like an idiot - hadn't backed up yet off) before it shut itself down once more.
So can anyone think of any way, shape or form Apple TV could have just killed my iMac? It's not even possible for it to have interacted with the power system management in OS X is it? If it had just hosed the hard drive inside the iMac why would it turn the power off? I thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas before the inventible visit to my local Apple Authorized Service Provider

It could just be a coincidence. Which model do you have how to identify your iMac? Have you tried resetting the PRAM?
Please post back, depending on your model you might be eligible for either of Apple'sRev A and Rev B repair extension.
