Un installing Concers with itunes

I have a lot of problems with Itunes Crashing and not responding. Specifically when I add movie content to the Library. I want to uninstall & reinstall the itunes software, but I have a concern that this will this affect -
-My paired Ipod
-My Apple TV
-My istore purchased music?
Is it likely that I will have to clear & re-synchronise these devices when I re-install itunes?

hi smooth600!
you might have two different problems going on at once, here. let's first try to get itunes launching properly. once we've got that working we'll set about getting your CD drives back.
when i try to install from disc or apple.com i get error messages saying a problem has ocurred and ituens must shut down
a few preliminary questions. is that an "itunes has encountered an error ..." message? if so, does your quicktime launch properly (when you've got itunes installed), or does it give you an error message?

  • Problem installing apps with iTunes!

    Hello!
I have a big problem.I can't install apps using iTunes, because it shows me a message saying that the computer isn't authorized. But it is.Even after authorizing again,it shows the message again. If i install apps with appstore on my iphone, they work but as soon as i sync it with itunes the aplications stop working,i'm guessing because they aren't authorized.I tried everything, restoring my iphone, reseting it,uninstalling all my apple software and nothing. What should I do?

    Try these steps:
The following steps will recreate the SC Info folder if it is unusable.
    Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    1. Open Computer from the Start menu.
    2. From the Organize menu, choose Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders," make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed:
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes
    7. Right-click the SC Info folder shown and on the shortcut menu, choose Delete.
    8. Restart the computer.

  • Post iLife 08 install issue with iTunes, need details please for install

Like others in this discussion area after installing iLife '08 I received the following message after I then tried to open iTunes...
"This copy of iTunes is corrupt or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."
This problem occurred on the family machine, a family with two teenagers with iPods. Get my drift? Lots of music we don't want to risk losing. Shortly after this problem arose I was in the local Apple Store and was advised as to best perform the recommended installation. To avoid losing the music the guy said to drag the music file over to my external drive, install the latest iTunes and then drag the music back.
    Questions;
Is my memory correct, was it the music folder?, or perhaps the library I want to drag?
What about the Artwork and/or Mobile Apps folders?
I guess I need to do this for each user correct?
    Thanks for your help,
    Stuart

I'm having the same problem. I did notice on the install disk when I went to re-install it that it said 0 KB for iTunes on the install disk. I think that the install disk is the problem. Have you had any results from all this.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • App Install error with iTunes 7.7 (Facebook and MySpace Apps)

Whenever I try to sync either the Facebook or MySpace apps from the App Store, I receive the following error:
The application "Facebook" was not installed on the iPhone "Ray's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000013).
    and
The application "MySpace" was not installed on the iPhone "Ray's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000013).
I've tried deleting and redownloading the apps multiple times. Anyone else had this problem or gotten around it?
    Thanks - Ray

I downloaded a few free apps also and it didn't take. When I tried downloading it again it said that it's already downloaded and I have to sync the phone up with iTunes and click Store -> Check for purchases.
Well I did that, but the Store is still down so it didn't sync it with the phone. I'll keep trying.

  • A required iTunes component is not installed 42404 with iTunes 10 after update

    Hi,
So I updated last night to the latest iTunes and now whenever I start the program I get this error:
A required iTunes component is not installed... - 42404...
I've tried uninstalling and deleting the iTunes preferences but it keeps on popping up. I can't sync my iPhone with it like this. Should I reinstall the Mobile Device stuff?
    Thanks

Sometimes this one indicates that your FairPlay is broken, but other components might be dodgy.
Let's try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Does that help with your 42404?

  • Installing problems with itunes

I am having problems with installing itunes+quicktime on to my laptop. Quicktime is already present in my laptop and it doesn't uninstall, which is preventing itunes+quicktime to install.
Any help and advice on how to sort this problem will be really appreciated.
    Thanks,

okay. with those symptoms, let's first try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
now try another QuickTime install. does it go through properly this time?

  • Installed Quicktime with Itunes. movs no sound

I had Quicktime 6.5 and all worked awesome. Bought 30g video Ipod had to upgrade to 7 now my subscription to Lynda.com is useless. None of the mov files have audio. Even downloaded a free video off a band site I like NO SOUND. This is rediculous if I uninstall itunes and quicktime and reinstall 6.5 everything works, but I can't use my Ipod. They do have other software out there to interact with my Ipod but why should I pay for another program when I already paid $300 for a Ipod that should have working software with it. So I see it as Apple can eith pay my $375 subscription to Lynda.com or give me some software that works properly.

Got the same problem, you're not alone, previous version worked fine.

  • Install apps with Itunes

I have just bought Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for my Ipod Touch 4 on my Computer, I would like to know how to install on my Ipod without deleting the one that I have already installed?

    Hey AppleFan143,
It looks like you authorize your computer, but iTunes keeps prompting you to authorize. If that sounds right, try the suggestions in this article:

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • I installed the new iTunes 11.1.4 with windows and when I plog in my new iPod, I get a warning notice telling me to install the 64-bit version, how do I fix this problem?

Please Help I don't know what to do
I just installed the new iTunes 11.1.4 and when I plug in my iPod touch, it sends me a warning note
telling me that the requested software is not installed, to uninstall iTues and install it again with the 64 bit version
I've already tried it but the same thing happens

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • I want to install apps from itunes to my ipod and manage them manually but there is only one option to do that replaces my apps on ipod with apps in my itunes library . Is there any way to install the apps without replacing them??

I want to install apps using itunes from my pc but there is only on option for doing that i.e. itunes replace the installed apps with apps on itunes. Is there any other way for doing that without replacing my apps ???

Ipod touch will sync with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:
    iPhone Repair - Other Repairs
    https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/other/
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling
