Unabe to install, told a previous version is trying to install ???
i am trying to install firefox on my computer. the install stops everytime at the same stage that there is a previous install in progress. Firefox has been installed in the past. in fact i dont remember uninstalling it. when I look at the control panel to uninstall a program mozilla is not listed. i am stumped not as when i do a search for files related to firefox none are found.

Go to the Windows Task Manager, look at the "Processes" tab and terminate any running firefox.exe, plugin-container.exe and any install. Then try your install again if you bring up the install from the Firefox downloads then as soon as the install starts bring Firefox down using File > Exit, give it a minute then verify with the WTM that firefox.exe is not running.
On Windows 7 only, you can bring up the WTM with "Ctrl+Shift+Esc".

Firefox was updating the other day and the PC crashed during this. Now unable to open firefox at all

Re-install previous version of firefox instructions dont work
I upgraded to firefox 4 then found it was not compatible with some of my other software. I am trying to return to the prvious version. When I did the install it appeared to work until I got to launch firefox now - the launch did not happen. On my desktop was a generic icon that said mozilla ( not the normal icon) - when I clicked it I got message searching for firefox exec. I tried removing the program and alkl related files. Can you tell me how to restore the previous version - I tried to follow some instructions I found but the link was no good. Thanks

When I am on Facebook or playing a game, it will freeze and I have to hit control alt delete, to get any response. Within a couple more seconds the same problem occurs. I did not have this problem with the previous version.
I tried so hard with FF4 but no deal. It was considerably MUCH slower than 3.6. Every page just had a 2~3 second wait before it loaded up. This was tested on a brand new Windows 7 64-bit install machine too.
Flash ran much more cpu intensive as well. I played many flash based games in 3.6 and my cpu usage was never always as it was with FF4 in the 90%-100% range.
I had to get rid of it due to the slowness and the lack of older plugin support: ANYCOLOR which I must run and cannot stand the light colored menu pop ups. Also the buttons in FF4 are worse than 3.6. You can't see them when you have a persona applied.
Staying with 3.6 until 4 speeds up or will give 4.1 a try. -
Adobe Edge Animate CC (previous versions too) keep crashing when opening OS X file panels
Hello there,
Edge Animate CC crashes almost 30% of the time it opens a standard file OS X window (such as Open, Save, etc). It's a nightmare as you never know if your project is going to be saved or killed...
I had the same exact problem in previous versions.
Tried uninstall and clean preferences and re-install, no solution.
Crash happens randomly when accessing the standard OS X file panel, you see the very first frames of the panel opening (zooming from center screen) and just after that it crashes.
At the moment I can reproduce the crash with 100% chance in this way:
- Launch Animate CC
- Create a new project
- Go to Library>Symbols>Import Symbols
- crash

Since installing Firefox 9.0.1 LAST night on my iMac, which is running OSX v. 10.5.8, Firefox is now crashing every few minutes. It usually happens as I go from one website to another -- when I click on a bookmarked website from my bookmarks, Firefox crashes just as the next website is coming up. I have NEVER had this problem with Firefox before. I need to uninstall and revert to the previous version of Firefox, but OSX doesn't have an easy "revert to previous configuration" routine. Or... please send out a fix for 9.0.1 (assuming others are having the same problem) right away.
Thank you mha007. Actually, Verdi had solved the problem about 10 days ago. It was another Plug-in, Showcase, that was incompatible with the newest Firefox, so he told me to disable it, and that worked instantly. The other day, though, Firefox again started constantly crashing. This time I looked and found -- as you suggest -- another outdated plugin, in this case Silverlight. Don't know why it took ten days to start causing a problem, but as soon as I disabled it, everything was back to normal. I have NEVER had such problems with any new versions of Firefox, and I've been using it for ages, so this was pretty disconcerting to see how problematic the new version was.

Reader 11 not uninstalling previous versions when installed via GPO MSI
I donwloaded the Reader 11 msi, patched it to 11.0.1, then with the version 11 customization wizard told it uninstall previous versions of Reader. When I push the transformed msi via a gpo it installs 11 and all of the other setting I set in the transform, like suppress EULA are applied, but Reader 10 still exists after the install.

Unable to install flash player after uninstalling previous version
I am unable to download/install flash player and I had already uninstalled the previous version. I had been playing farmville and my aol emails just fine and they both stopped working and I was told to try "updating" my flash player. Well, I must have done something wrong because it uninstalled ok but now when I download it again, I get "did not pass the integrity check (1629.304.428)" I also tried to reset IE 8 with no help. This all worked until about 4 days ago and I don't remember updating anything within the last week so I am not sure what I did wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit, web browser is IE8, 32 bit, and I don't have a flash player version according to the link that was provided to check, it keeps giving me the link for the general page with no version numbers. Thanks!

Installing 10.2 - need previous version?

I recently had my hard drive replaced on my ibook and need to install an operating system. My ibook did not come with any cd's so I bought 10.2 (on ebay). I tried installing it yesterday but I got an error message saying that I needed to first install a previous version of OS X. I called Apple and was told I need to get OS 9 and install that. Can anyone confirm that? My concern is that I need this computer up and running soon and I don't want to waste any time or money.

How to uninstall QT 7.1.5 and install previous version
Can someone advise how to uninstall new version of QuickTime 7.1.5 and install a previous version (7.1.3). The new version seems to have issues (I have software that no longer plays back video... and was working fine before new version).
Mac Mac OS X (10.4.8)Problems with QT 7.1.5 are not limited to Turbo Tax or to particular versions of OSX. If you read the website Macfixit, you will find that many people with many different programmes and system versions are having serious problems with this update of QT, including a stall on the update itself. I phoned tech services in Canada under my AppleCare programme and reached them this morning (March 11) and the technician I spoke with had NO KNOWLEDGE of the many many problems with this updater. I told him that APPLE should immediately remove it from circulation until it is fixed. He said he would report it but he was not enthusiastic nor did he sound overly concerned so I don't know that he will. I also asked for advice about uninstalling 7.1.5 and the only sure thing he could recommend was to re-install the entire system. Not a satisfactory option. But if you are interested, go to Macfixit.com and look for their document on uninstalling it. But as for APPLE, I suggest that everyone having problems after installing 7.1.5 OR with the downloading itself phone APPLE and demand that they pull 7.1.5 from circulation AND provide us, on their website, with their instructions about uninstalling it. This kind of negligence has become too typical of APPLE of late - not the old style APPLe that I came to love and depend upon - and only if we demand more responsibility from them do we have any hope of things changing for the better.

Is it possible to install a trial version of any of the Adobe Creative Cloud software in a previous version? By that, I am referring to the following:
I want to install a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014; NOT Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.1. If you notice, I want to reinstall a trial version of the previous release. Don't ask why, you'll just laugh for my stupid reason, but I'm merely wondering if it is possible. Creative Cloud now only offers trials of the newest versions, and I want to install trails of previous versions for my own, personal reasons. Is this possible to do with creative cloud, or must I do it some other way?

Now the previous version won't open. I downloaded and tried to instal 6.0 without software update, which failed, and my old 5.5.3 Airport Utility still won't open.
iTunes no longer recognizes my airport express.

Can't delete Airport Utility and reinstal from scratch as it is, “AirPort Utility” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X.
Any sugestions?I reinstalled AirPort 5.5.3 which worked, but the app still won't launch but iTunes now recognizes my AirPort Express, I just hope I don't want to change its settings.

I am using windows xp and firefox will not install.
I get an message that a restart is needed to complete the install of a previous version of firefox. Firefox is not currently installed but the install thinks it is. I have removed references to firefox from the registry and still have the problem, I checked with windows installer cleanup and it isn't there eitherIf files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

On a Mac, unable to install latest Flash Player 12.0.0.44--or reinstall previous version that worked
I am on a Mac running the last version of Snow Leopard before Mavericks, 10.8.5. I am unable to install the new Flash Player 12.0.0.4--at about the 50% mark on the installing bar, it stops and I get an error message that installation failed. The version I had previously for some time, either 10. or 11. worked perfectly but I am not unable to reinstall any previous version either. So I have a project I cannot run that requires Flash Player and can't watch videos.
I found someone in a forum who mentioned he'd seen several people on Snow Leopard unable to install Flash Player but his directions to overcome that which did work for someone who tried it, appear to be for PC's: from his first direction of right-clicking, I didn't get the option he says to click on that starts the process.
Can anyone tell me how to install this new Flash Player in a Mac on Snow Leopard? Should I trash all the new versions of the installer and the Flash Player Debugger Version 11.4.402.287 (11.4) that I have from a previous installment, prior to trying again?

You're missing a file that was made visible by the 10.8.5 update. Hundreds of thousands of Mac users all over the world deleted it, not knowing what it was. It causes this when it's missing.
Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane
And this one: mach_kernel.zip
Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.
Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"
You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,
and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.
Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,
and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.
Trash the zip file.
Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".
Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.
Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.

Hello Guys, I have reinstalled SmartView twice and done the following trick as well: 1.Copy the HsAddIn.dll, HsSpread.dll, HyperionSmartTag.dll and HsTbar.xla from the Bin folder. Path : <Drive:>\Hyperion\SmartView\Bin 2. Paste it on the Add Ins fold
