Unable click on links on right of screen on some websites occassionally

Using Macbook Pro Google chrome have also tried Safari and same problem exists
On some website forums I am unable to click on links to acces the web page, to the right hand side of my screen without refreshing the screen a few times.
Links when shown to the left and middle of screen work correctly, ie the cursor changes to a hand without refreshing the screen, but those to the right hand side do not. It can not be my trackpad, as if I move the cursor to the left hand side of webpage  the cursor changes to the hand icon and the links show up,
If I then go to the links that originally would not show up on the right side of my screen, the  cursor then changes to the hand icon, enabling me to select them.
Could it be a fault with the website  ? Any ideas woyld be appreciated please.

• Used to be able to close documents immediately by clicking "X" at upper right of screen or right-clicking tab at bottom of screen. Now "X" is very slow to close. Help?

I "upgraded" to Beta 4 but it created too many aberrations, so I went back to 3.6.15. Formerly, when I clicked on the "X" to get out of screens, it would happen imm3ediately. Now it takes several seconds. But when I right-click on the bar at the bottom of the screen, it closes that page immediately. Is this the way it's supposed to work? Thanks.

If you are getting Siri when you double tap, then your home button must be sticking. Siri comes up when you hold the home button. Try tapping quickly twice. When that happens, the multi-tasking list comes up and you will see the app icon and then a thumbnail, or reduced size view of the app above it. You put your finger on that thumbnail and swipe upwards with your finger.
For that issue, you might want to do a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This will not affect your data.
To be honest, your novel is a little difficult to read, and I think you put too much information in there, and a lot of it is unnecessary. Be to the point and just add information necessary to understand the issue.

• When I click on links, it always takes me to the websites homepage

When I click on a link for a website, instead of taking me to exactly where the link was supposed to, it sends me to the main page associated with the link. For example, if I click on a link on google for a product on amazon, instead of taking me to the actual page with the product, it just sends me to amazons homepage. How do I correct this?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• ~10s delay when clicking on links before loading begins

I am having a delay of around 10 seconds after clicking on links before loading starts. On some websites it is worse than on others, worst being on reddit.com. I already tried resetting firefox but that didn't help. Thanks in advance for any help.

Did this occur when you didn't have the "Stealthy" extension installed, or does it make any difference if you disable it?
To rule extensions in/out as a potential culprit, you could try surfing for a while in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)
Any difference?

• When I advertise a link for potential customers, the link does not light up so that the customer can just click on link and be direct to my website. Why? What do i need to do in order for links to light up?

When advertising, I put my link in so that potential customers can just click on link and be automatically directed to my website. My links are not lighting up so that they can be directed to my website. Why?

Do you mean sending email?
Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text on the "Compose New Mail page" there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.<br />
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).<br />
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.<br />
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each (e.g. Insert hyperlink).

• Unable to right click a link and open in a New Window

Hello,
I've been having problems with FF when I right click a link on any site, and I want to "Open Link in New Window", but it never happens. Then I tried to right click the same link and I "Open Link in New Tab", which works. What happened? Did the programmers/developers change something? I even tried it in "Safe Mode" with the same problem. Can anyone suggest anything? I almost tried everything imaginable, even running Windows 7 Ult SP1 in Safe Mode as well, with no help.
Thank You.
David

Note that such issues are likely caused by one of the extensions that isn't working properly.
So if it happens again then start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
*If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
*Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

• When right click on link in search page it takes me to where it wants not page

If I search from au.yahoo.com or google (search pages I always use), it brings up a list of suggested sites. If I right click on one of the suggested links and choose to open in new tab or just click on the link, it won't take me to the page listed. It seems to take me to what other site it suddenly feels like taking me to. There is no set site it takes me to, just a huge variety of them. I have done a registry clean, I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, I have done a pc clean and have run malaware program.

If you right-click the link and use Copy Link Location, then paste into the address bar, and press Alt+Enter, does Firefox load the correct site in the new tab? If so, it does unfortunately sound like the nasty malware sometimes called the Google Redirect Virus. This recent thread has a lot of suggestions: 90% of the time I get redirected to a destructive site (according to WOT) when I click on a search result. | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help.

• I right click on link, click, open in new window, then nothing happens. Or, windows within a page will not open, for example, on gmail, when I click "details" the window will not open.

When I right click on a hot link, then click, open in a new window, a window will not open. Alternatively, I can click, open in a new tab, and a new tab will open. Additionally, if I'm at a website with a chat feature, the chat window will not open, or, as another example, if I'm at gmail, and I click "details", the window that opens giving the summary of when your account has been opened and the IP addresses it's been accessed from, will not open.
I have on the computer, Aurora too. I doubt that it's a source of the problem, but I had to throw that into the mix. For clarification, this problem is happening while using the Firefox browser.

You can middle-click a link to open the link in a new tab.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• When I click a link, it won't open in a new tab unless I right click and select open in new tab. How do I change it so that I can click on a link and it will open?

I want to click on a link and have it open, how do I do that, without right clicking?

Click the link with the scroll wheel.

• Right-clicking on links and selecting "Open Link in New Tab" opens a blank tab.

Seems like opening links in new tabs just doesn't work in any fashion. I right-clicked a link (several, actually) to open it in a new tab. It opened a blank tab. No sign of ever acknowledging the link, nothing in the URL bar. Just blank.
Wonder if this is related to my earlier question about opening links from Thunderbird being broken as well...

the user cor-el has a method that does not require any add-ons. He States
This code in userChrome.css will move "Open Link in New Window" to the top of the context menu.
<pre>@namespace url("<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul</a>"); /* only needed once */

#context-openlink { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important; }</pre>
the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well.

Using firefox 14.0.1. Loading a link using right-click and "Open Link In New Window", results in new window opening but address bar does not show URL. However, if I right click on a link and select "Open Link In New Tab", the Tab shows URL in address bar. So it's working when it's a New Tab but not a New Window.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

• Touchgraph link browser right click won't work; jre 1.4.2_03 linux

touchgraph link browser right click won't work; jre 1.4.2
Wanted to mention that the touchgraph link browser(java client) client starts correctly in Redhat 9, but i found one problem when trying to edit links. The problem being that I can't open the small popup menu when i right click in linux RedHat 9. left clicking while dragging on a selected link (in edit mode) lets you create a new link both in microsoft windows 95a and in Redhat 9. When i right click in win95a, a small menu appears that allows me to edit a link, but this menu doesn't appear after right clicking a link in edit mode in redhat 9 (which does work with TG link browser in win95).
I tried using a 2 button mouse with 3 button emulation. I also tried to use a 3 button logitech trackball which works with the old logitech c7 setting in Redhat. I also tried to operate the mouse with it's three buttons using the number keypad in linux, which works in other applications under linux. The same problem still happens in trying all of these methods.
I was told that unix and windows use different "select," "extend," and "menu" buttons(in relation to the mouse).
Maybe, microsoft windows is using a different method of interpreting the right mouse button than redhat linux 9. if so, maybe there is a way to do this in linux (really, i have no idea how this could be done, but am open to try).
If there is a solution, i would appreciate knowing how to go about doing it. .
note: I am using Sun's java 1.4.2_04 in windows 95a and I am using Sun's java 1.4.2_03 in Redhat 9. Both are the most current, i just downloaded them recently.
note: touchgraph link browser is an open source java client and applet under the GNU general Public License. I think that the source code was included with the binary. I am using touchgraph link browser v 1.20 . I downloaded from sourceforge.net
in google i found the following:
https://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/lists/advanced-java/1999-September/000532.html
note: mara, you helped me before when i was practically installing redhat 9 and i had a problem with the installation and you mentioned that it was a faulty cd-rom drive. with your help, i am enjoying in learning about linux for the past 5 months since your answer helped me install redhat 9 successfully. Thank you very much since my very first question to you.
Answer Hello,
I downloaded the program and, if I think of the right situation, the right-click doesn't bring a menu for me. The thing I noticed is that when I drag a new link and (with left mouse button pressed) press right button it has an effect of 'canceling' the link. That's why I think that right mouse button works correctly. The problem is why the menu does not appear.
I can see two reasons, both causing problems not easy to solve: bug in the program or incompatibility between Windows and Linux java versions. The second one should not happen.. but it doesn't mean it's impossible. A bug in the program should be easier to find, but not by me (with not very big Java experience it'd take me several days).
What I'd do in your place is to mail the program developers (or report a bug). It won't make things worse, but can fix things.
Sorry that I can't help more
Mara
notethe second half is a post i made to all experts.com
