Unable detect a flash drive.

i got this mp3 player that acts as a flash drive (samsung yp-t7f). it cannot be detected by my apple ibook. is there anyway to solve this problem? by installing drivers? thx.

no, its not detected in the disk utilities, when i use the usb cable to connect to the player, it connects and then automatically disconnects itself. i think it is incompatible with mac devices. thank you anyway.

    Hi there
    I was looking for how to detect a USB Flash Drive name in Labview
    appearently every time i insert USB Flash Drive in a computer, windows assign it a different name
    once "J:" and sometimes "M:"
    Is there anyway to obtain USB Flash Drive name programmatically in Labview ?
    Because in my program an user shouldn't be able to access HDD Drives except his USB Flash Drive (for inserting some file ...)
    thank you and excuse me for my poor english

    I was able to get the demo.vi to load, but it could not load the other two because there is no block diagram associated with those.  I'm not sure why this is.  I haven't had any issues with other llbs before.

  • Unable to mount flash drive w/ OS 9.2.2 and Powerbook G3

    I've upgraded my G3 Pismo up to OS 9.2.2. However, the system won't mount a USB flash drive.
    Here's a breakdown of the problem(s):
    1) Insert flash drive, but flash drive won't appear on desktop.
    2) Check System Profiler, and system freezes.
    3) Remove flash drive from USB hub, and system unfreezes. System Profiler now has a listing for "Sandisk Cruzer Mini" in the USB -- even though the flash drive is no longer there.
    4) Check extensions. There is no USB Mass Storage Support extension. Download from Apple site, the USB Mass Storage Support 1.3.5 extension.
    5) Attempt to install this extension. Won't let me do it. Gives the message "This program cannot be run on your computer. See the documentation for details."
    6) Check documentation. I have the requisite system: Powerbook G3 and OS 9.2.2.
    7) Attempt to reinstall OS 9.2.2, as perhaps that might fix the problem.
    8) Cannot re-install OS 9.2.2. Gives the message: "The application program 9.2.2.smi etc. cannot be opened because an error of type -39 occurred."
    9) Clueless at this point.

    Hi, BGBchewy -
    Re the USB Mass Storage Support item, the ReadMe that accompanies it and comprises the info on the download page states -
        "Requirements
        Mass Storage Support 1.3.5 requires Mac OS 8.6. You do not need to install this software if you have installed Mac OS 9."
    Ditto the later version of that software, USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1.
    This user Tip may provide the assistance you need -
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607556&
    <hr>
    Re the -39 error and the OS 9.2.2 download update, that error is most commonly caused by Stuffit Expander intruding where it should not. The download is in a .smi (self-mounting image) format, a format generated by Apple's Disk Copy. Stuffit Expander has ShrinkWrap technology built-in, which allows it to mount some kinds of disk images - but not .smi ones. Yet ShrinkWrap tries to - hence the error message.
    The solution - double-click Stuffit Expander, and open its Preferences (under the File menu). Select "Disk Images" from the list on the left, then turn off (uncheck) "Mount Disk Images". Quit Stuffit Expander.

  • Flash drive + speed issue

    My macbook is running slow as ever. it freezes every now and then.
    The biggest problem is that it takes more than 5 minutes to detect a flash drive.
    i am using 10.5.8 and i have 1gig RAM. i repaired all the disk permission but that did not slove the issue. i am fed up force shutting down my macbook. please help.
    thankyou.

    Try reinstalling OS X:
    How to Perform an Archive and Install
    An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
    Also, add more RAM to your computer. 1 GB is not enough. You should use 2 GBs or more (if your model supports it.) Also be sure you maintain ample free space on your hard drive - 10 GBs or 15% of the hard drive's capacity whichever is greater.

  • Hp v235r flash drive not being detected on my computer

    Hi,
    I am using hp v235r flash drive for more than 5 years. It's not being detected on my computer since two days. Can any one solve my problem, as there is lot of important data stored in it and hasn't been backed up recently.

    Hello budda48,
    Its possible the driver for the pen drive is corrupted in your computer, or the drive has met its end of life.
    First, confirm that the Pen Drive is seen by other computers. Plug it in to another computer that you havent tried yet.
    If it is not working on other computers, then the usb drive is corrupted and there wont be anything else we can do.
    If it is working in other computers, then try these steps to troubleshoot the Pen Drive.
    Confirm that the port on the computer is not bad. Choose a different port to insert the drive. Next…
    Part 1: Make sure that the drive has a drive letter assigned in Disk Management.
    Open Computer Management by right clicking on Computer and clicking Manage.
    Click on Disk Management. Give it a moment to open the view of the drives installed.
    Look for a drive that does not have an assigned drive letter and is not labeled as System Reserved.
    Note: System reserved drives are reserved by Windows and will not allow you to assign a letter.
    Right-click the unlabeled drive and click Change drive letter and paths…
    Click Add and then click OK to select the first available drive letter.
    If the Change drive letter and paths… option is not available, make sure that the drive is Online.
    If the drive is Offline, right-click the disk number and click Online.
    Part 2: If the drive does have a letter assigned and it still does not work, uninstall the driver.
    You can safely remove any usb drivers that are not in use (hidden drivers). Devices that get plugged in later will simply reinstall its needed driver again.
    Remove the pen drive from the computer if it’s attached.
    Right click Computer and click on Properties. In the System window on the left side, click on Advanced System Properties.
    Choose the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables… button at the bottom.
    Under System Variables, click on the New… button
    Type this in the box that pops up. Variable Name: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and also give the Variable Value: 1
    Click OK on all the open windows to close them out.
    Go to Computer Management again and click on Device Manager. Go to View at the top of the window and click on Show Hidden Devices.
    Click on the drop down arrow for Universal Serial Bus Controllers to open the list. Look for any USB Mass Storage Device that is hidden (greyed out) and delete it. There may be several and it’s ok to delete all those hidden USB Mass Storage Devices.
    When you connect the pen drive to the computer again, give it a minute to reinstall the driver.

  • [Solved] unable to mount harddisk partition or flash drive

    After recent updates to gnome 3.4.2,i am unable to mount  harddisk partition or flash drive .I have 2 year old arch installation with gnome.
    When i click on partitions in nautilus,it says "Unable to mount program files \n Not authorized to perform operation"
    Problem is not only while mounting partitions.
    Wherever we need authorization .Like changing date and time ,changing user accounts using gnome UI etc.The unlock button is greyed out permanently.
    even i am not able to shutdown using gnome menus. it just log me out only ,do not restart or shutdown.Though i can shutdown using shutdown command on commandline.
    i run gnome using daemon method. not through xinitrc .
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25031?p … ekit#close
    I found a similar discussion in this bug. But since, i do not use xinitrc, it is unlikely they will help me.
    Can someone be kind enough to help me on this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • I need help, I am unable to download my latest purchase on itunes to my car using a flash drive, any suggestions?

    I am unable to import my latest purchase from iTunes onto my car, I am using a flash drive but when I plug it into my car, it doesn't even show that the cd is on there but it does show it being on there when I plug the flash drive into my pc, any suggestions?

    That message "Adobe Reader could not open 'ZinioReader4(1).air' because it is either not a supported file type " may seem to suggest a relationship between ZinioReader and Adobe Reader. But actually it means the exact opposite. Adobe Reader cannot open this. There is nothing wrong with Adobe Reader; it cannot open .air files, never has, never will.
    So the problem is not Adobe Reader, it is that you are trying to use the wrong thing (Adobe Reader) to open a .air file. My guess is that you were asked what opens .air files and you once chose Adobe Reader.
    No idea what does open .air files or how; but this is to assure you that you are in the wrong place. Perhaps the Adobe AIR forum is the right place.

  • I'm unable to download RAW images from my Canon Rebel T2i to my flash drives. JPEGS are fine. WHY?

    Suddenly I'm unable to download my RAW images from my Canon Rebel T2i to my flash drives when just a few weeks ago I was able to. What happened? I can download JPEGS just fine. No error codes, software works like normal, i see the previews and when i go to my flash drives to open the files the dated file is there but it opens with no images. I've reformatted the memory card twice now, so that's not the problem. Any ideas from all my new friends out there. Thank you.

    We may need more info.  What are your flash drives?  What are you using to copy?  What computer/OS do you use?
    Normally a file is a file... a computer doesn't care what type of file it is.  Whether or not any software knows how to hope the file wont impact the computer's ability to copy it.  This makes me wonder if it is being copied, but can't be opened (e.g. if the software you are using doesn't know how to deal with a Canon T2i RAW file (.CR2).
    RAW is more of a "concept" than a "standard".  Every camera model's RAW file will be slightly different.  If you want to open an image in, say, Photoshop... they provide "Adobe Camera RAW" updates for their software and you'd need the update that supports your T2i (btw, when Adobe releases a "new" version of software, they tend to stop providing RAW updates for all previous versions of that software.  So depending on what version of software you use... the only way to get it to work with RAW may involve having to upgrade the software (there are some cumbersome work-arounds.))

  • USB Flash Drive not detected after OS X Mountain Lion installed.

    My MacBook Air 11 inch (Mid 2011) suddenly stopped detecting all my USB flash drives a week after upgraded to Mountain Lion.
    I have a tiny 16GB USB flash drive (Sandisk Cruzer Fit), for daily work, that has never been unplugged from my MBA.
    Everything was fine on Lion, and a week of Mountain Lion, until just when my MBA prompted me that my flash drive "was not ejected properly" after I re-opened the display/lid, or from sleep mode.
    I thought I might have accidentally removed the flash drive unknowingly. So I tried re-plugging the flash drive, closed and re-opened the MBA lid, and the same error message "The disk was not ejected properly" occured. I repeated the steps for a few times (thinking my flash drive might be faulty) and at my last attempt, the flash drive was stopped detected. I tried several USB flash drives and external hard drives (of various brands) to both the USB ports of my MBA, only the external hard drives were detected (on both USB ports) and functioning. None of the flash drives was detected on either USB port.
    The tested flash drives were plugged to another 13" MacBook (Unibody, Late 2008, OS X Lion) and they all worked fine.
    I wonder if anyone faces the same problem, and solution(s) please?
    Additional: OS X Mountain Lion re-installed and same problem occurs / No problem with OS X Lion.

    I had the same issue after installing Mountain Lion from the App store. The issue is you are missing the IOUSBFamily.kext extension amongst others. The solution is to backup your macbook, then perform a clean install of Mountain Lion.
    I had this done at the Apple Store and now everything is restored as well as performance speed being improved.
    Note: When restoring your files (a clean install will delete all your files and applications), use the Migration Assistant.
    I would recommend going to the Apple Store to do this because they can perform the clean install from a USB which is so much faster than the download form the App store.
    Hope this helps.

    I am running Windows XP.
    my firefox deleted the existing adobe flash player 10.3.183.7 BUT I'm unable to download the new flash drive 10.3.183.10. Now I can't play anything. Can I go back to the old flash player (10.3.183.7)?''

    There is something wrong with the download that Adobe is pointing too. You can get the working download here:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_10.exe
    That solved my problem immediately.
    I got this info from this post on the Adobe forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3947097#3947097
    Flash Download Problems
    WindowsXP SP3
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20110902 SeaMonkey/2.3.3
    (Note well: Internally, SeaMonkey 2.3.3 is the same as Firefox 6.0.2. They both use the same Gecko 6.0.2 for rendering Web pages, interfacing with the Internet, downloading, etc.) They differ only in the user interface (menus, buttons, etc).
    I see two problems when trying to download a new version of Flash Player from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. .
    1. Your Web server is sniffing for my browser. I select the "Download now" button, and I get the same page all over again. The navigation is looping. If I spoof Firefox 6.0.2, however, I do get a download. This means you are sniffing for "Firefox" when you should be sniffing for "Gecko".
    2. While spoofing Firefox, the download gives me install_flashplayer10_chrd_aih.exe, which is not the installer for Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Instead, it is some kind of helper. To get the correct installer file, I had to search my archives to find the URI http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win /install_flash_player_10.exe.
    Both of these problems were previously cited in this forum at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3885371. Neither problem has been fixed.

  • Trying find a way to detect and list the external hard drives/flash drives

    Hiya,
    I'm trying to find a way to detect and list all the external hard drives or flash drives connected to a machine.
    The reason I want it is that I want to make a File Synchronization program in Java which will automatically synchronize from flash drive or external hard drive to the hard drive. So I need to be able to detect the drive before I can go about trying to set up the rest of the problem.
    Also, is this the correct forum to put this kind of query in? If not what would be the correct one.
    Any help would be appericated, thanks.

    I'm thinking that this link might be useful.
    http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.sql/ListDrivers.html
    But I can't seem to get it to work, I'm probably done the surrounding code wrong in some way.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.*;

         List drivers = Collections.list(DriverManager.getDrivers());
         for (int i = 0; i < drivers.size(); i++)    // error 1

            // Get name of driver
            String name = driver.getClass().getName();
            // Get version info
            int majorVersion = driver.getMajorVersion();
            int minorVersion = driver.getMinorVersion();
