Unable for format SD card with HFS using internal Card Reader

I'm suspecting that this must be a software/driver issue, but I'm stumped... MacBook Air Mid2012 with 10.8 and latest updates.
The symptom is the following: SanDisk 64GB UHS card in the SD Card slot. Formats fine both FAT and ExFAT. Attempting for format HFS (any combination of encrypted, case sensitive, etc), the card formats but can't mount. Repair fails too.
Now here's the kicker, put the same card in and external SD Card Reader (via USB), it formats HFS and mounts fine. Still can't mount via the internal reader though. Tried other SD cards, down to 4GB, same deal...

Just a followup, in case others read this thread.
The problem was a hardware issue, requiring the LogicBoard to be replaced.
A quick test to verify the problem is to insert a SD Card, run Disk Utility and Erase the SD Card. Any format (FAT, HFS, etc) will be fine.
Once the Erase is complete, run a Verify Disk. If you have LOTS of errors during the verify, then there is a problem.

6233 unable to format memory card

Hi.
My little brother has this phone and I gave him a 2 GB Transcend card for the phone. When we insert the new card we are not able to format it. The option for formatting (located under gallery->options) is disabled on the menu and it says you can only read the memory card. The card does not accept any file transfers without formatting it. The old Nokia 64 MB card works just fine.
Is there a way around this? Firmware version is 5.10.

That's weird because it is clearly stated here that the 6233 supports 2gb cards
Firstly: You can try putting the card in a card reader and use a PC to format it then put it in the phone and see how it behaves
If this doesn't work check if the writing on the card says 2GB SD or if it says 2GB SDHC
Some say this is the same thing, I believe it isn't.
Reason being that 2gb is the highest capacity SD card and the lowest capacity SDHC.
It's possible that if your hardware is not compatible with SDHC it might not be able to read the card.

Hi there,
I am looking for a smart card (card with microCPU) reader which is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 .
In substance, what I need is a little space to store all my passwords in, due to the fact that I might forget one: I have many to remember!
I have an USB key, but I use it in many computers, even in ones whose security cannot be 100% trusted.. and I want no doubt when talking about safety.

What is the best practice for formatting ext drives to be used by both Mac and PC users?

I have scanned what is available in the community about this issue and wondering if anyone has anything new to add. I need to create backup drives of department files (large photo and video) that both we Mac and the other PC users can access. The only consistent rec I see is FAT32, but that seems to have size limitations. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The problem with FAT32 is that 4 GB or bigger files can't be stored. In this case, and as you have a Mac OS X version that supports it (10.6.5), you can use exFAT, compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and Mac OS X (10.6.5 and later).
To format a drive with exFAT, do this on a PC. If you do it on a Mac, a PC won't be able to read it. Apart from this, you will be able to store the files you need onto external drives, as exFAT hasn't got the limitations that FAT32 has.
Another option is to use NTFS, but you will need a third-party application on your Mac to be able to write on your external drives

Looking for an app to use a credit card reader such as the square register for the Z10. Or any ohter credit card reader.
I've been a faithful Blackberry user for over 6 years, I hope that I don't regret buying this new phone last June. Verizon tried to talk me out of buying a Blackberry. So far I have been dis-appointed in this phone.

According to the code which you have written, there is no value in table IT_DSO_TABLE when you are trying to read the values.And after the read statement you have given a condition for sy-subrc. Hence the select statement is actually not even getting executed. *Also you have not assigned the final value back to the ResultPackage.*_

Another tip for working around iDVD encoding errors: Use internal drive

I've had several projects that produced the encoding error while rendering the menus, I've also seen a number of tips in this discussion area, e.g., have 20 GB of free space, delete iDVD preferences, delete encoded assets, and make sure your chapter markers are not near a transition or end of a clip (good luck with that using iDVD to set your chapters). Neither of these tips alone allowed me to burn a disk image to disk, but I'm confident they contribute to a more stable iDVD performance overall.
In my case, the only way I've managed to make the projects to work is to copy the iMovie project over to my internal drive, create the iDVD project on the internal drive and to save the disk image to the internal drive.
If you're low on internal disk space, as I am, easy to move assets is another advantage of using iMovie 6 over iMovie 8, i.e., you can create the iMovie project on the external drive and then drag a temporary copy over to the internal drive, then you can launch iDVD from within iMovie 6 without the annoying step of exporting to the Media Browser. When you're done, delete the temporary movie to free up space for your next project. The iDVD projects can also be moved to a backup drive or deleted.

You'll always get better results on the startup volume / internal HD (as opposed to an ext. HD) provided you also have at least 20GB's of available HD space remaining. Anything less is often problematic at best.
My suggestion in this situation is to find a way to clear more HD space. You can clear video files already burned to DVD-R media, burn your iPhoto Library to DVD to clear more space , or even consider clearing languages you won't need on your system with an app like Monolingual. No problems will be created by removing unneeded language files (however it's highly recommend you avoid removing architectures on any intel mac).

Replacement for K-Series Card Reader?

Hi - my K230 card reader seems to have kicked the bucket. The light comes on when a card is plugged in, but most of the time nothing shows up under "computer" in windows explorer. On the rare occasion the drive does appear, when clicked on it says I need to "insert a disk into Removable Drive ..."
So, I'm thinking a quick switchout shouldn't be a big deal, but I can't find the part I need. The Hardware Replacement Manual shows the card reader, but doesn't discuss replacing it. A web search isn't returning anything.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone know the part number or where to buy one? Thanks.

Suggestions for formatting external drive with bad block?

I have a OWC Mercury 300 GB external drive. I wanted to erase it and use it as a backup for one of my laptops. The drive had been working fine as a Time Machine back up for an old (intel) iMac. I told Disk Utility to erase and reformat. It erased, but refused to reformat saying there was a bad block on the drive. Now Disk Utility recognizes the external drive but won't do anything with it. No Verify. No Repair. All grayed out. Any suggestions?

I wasn't a hard error, that's why. Repartitioning and reformatting will often fix soft errors in the directory structure. Had there been a real, new, bad block on the drive it would not be repairable. A soft bad block error can be fixed by reformatting. The hard block error may be fixable by using Zero Data one pass that may spare out the bad block. But if none of that works then you need to replace the drive.
You were fortunate that the error probably was spurious and resolved by repartitioning (may have been in the disk's RDB.)

Using secure tranport for making ssl connection with server using iPhone

But it makes only a tcp connection wth the server and the server sends the "Connection Reset by peer " error.
So I have planned to use Secure Tranport. But i didnt find a suitable sample code in the internet. I found a sample in apple 's docs. But thats too confusing. Any sample code available for making tcp with ssl connection with the server ????

Which partition format to choose to make second internal drive read/write for Windows 7

Hi,
I have a new Mac Mini Server 2011 and I would like to split partition my second internal hard drive to use in Bootcamp Windows 7.
I would like to split this drive so that I can have one partition in NTFS and other half in standard MAC OS format.
Ive gone to Disk utility to split partition this drive but I only see the Format MS Dos (FAT) and FatEX.. I dont see FAT32 ! Is this correct..
should I choose Ms DOs FAT so that when I got back to Bootcamp Windows I can reformat this partition into NTFS?

Because you have a unusual setup, I don't know exactly how Bootcamp is going to handle it, you got to download the drivers and read the PDF.
However when you insert the Windows 7 DVD to install, you first need to change the MSDOS/FAT32 format to NTFS using the Windows disk, Disk Utility or Bootcamp won't do it.

Performance issue with validate using internal schema file.

I do the following tesing.
1.enable the validate function during create container1.
2.put xsd and xml file into container1.
I query one node from container1, the Elapsed: 00:00:00.26
1.disable the validate function during create container2.
2.put xml file into container2.
I query one node from container1, the Elapsed: 00:00:03.39
Why the performance has so big difference between with validate and without validate? Where is the problem?

Whether a document is validated will have no effect on querying. I suspect that the difference in timing that you see is due to how warm your cache is, or some other unrelated factor.
