Unable sync after installing Ubuntu

I have installed Ubuntu v14.04 on my laptop. When I try to sync Firefox it asks me to log in to my account. Entering my email address and password I am told that it is an unknown account. When I try to reset my password, I am again told it is an unknown account using my email address.
When I go to the sync setting on my desktop, there is no account information under "manage my account"
I know that I have a sync account for my desktop, the laptop using Win7 and my phone and tablet.

1. Are all your devices running Firefox 28 or older? ''Firefox 29 and later have a new version of Sync, which isn't backwards compatible with earlier versions of Firefox. Once a Sync account has been updated to the new version, that account is no longer accessible by a device using a pre-29 version.''
That might be why your account is "unknown", but I'm not positive of that.
2. There is no account information, nor are you able to "manage" on a device that isn't setup yet.

  • How setup LDAP Sync After Install in OIM 11g  ver, 11.1.1.5.0

Hi guys, I'm trying to find how to setup LDAP Sync After Install in OIM 11g (ver, 11.1.1.5)....
I found on Metalink an interesting article "*How to Setup LDAP Sync After Install in OIM 11g [ID 1272682.1]*", but inside there is a Note that says:
Note: This article is applicable to OIM version 11.1.1.3 only. Steps for 11.1.1.5 are not the same, and product manual has documented steps to setup LDAP sync after install.
So, that the steps for 11.1.1.5 are not the same, it's clear.....
and I tried to look for these steps in the manual:
Oracle® Fusion Middleware Quick Installation Guide for Oracle Identity Management
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    Part Number E10033-06
but I didn't still find nothing for the specific 11.1.1.5.0 version....only for the 11.1.1.3.0 version
Can anyone help me to find where these steps are ? I need this information as soon as possible ti start the development
Thanks in advance for the help

If you are creating Before and After Create Opeation script, you would be able to access all the variables in the process form. Now obvious question, what are the names of these variables? The answer is: the name of the variable is same as that mentioned in the "decode" column of the provisioning attribute map lookup or in other words, the variable name is same as the AD attribute name. In the example mentioned in the documentation, the variable "%givenName% was used in the script. On the similar lines you can use other variables like "sn", "samAccountName", etc.
    Hope the information helps.

  • Making new partitions after installing Ubuntu 11.1

    Hi everyone
First of all, sorry for my bad english, i'll do my best to explain my problem.
I have a 2010 13" Macbook Pro (7,1), with OsX Snow Leopard running on it.
Recently, I decided to install Ubuntu (11.1 version), by partitioning the main Macintosh HD using Disk Utility as usual, with 3 new partitions: a swap partition, a "storage" partition ad a partition dedicated to the OS.
After the installation, everything was going well: with refit at the start i can choose if booting with OS-X or Ubuntu and it works with no problems.
Yesterday I saw a tutorial on youtube where I saw a Macbook user explaining how to install three operative systems, using ReFit at the start like me.
So, today I decided to give it a try, but Disk Utility doesn't allow me to modify the macintosh HD partition again. I can set a new partition, deciding the dimension and the file system format, but clicking on "apply" to make the changes I get this error:
"Mediakit mediakit reports no such partition".
Does anyone knows a fix for this one?
Sorry if there was already a topic about a similar problem, I didn't noticed it.

Try Andrei Cerbu's post here or see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, forcing a driver update.

  • After installing Ubuntu, now I cant re-install Mac OSX 10.0.4 on my G3

350 Mgz, Blue and White G3:
I installed UBuntu, then decided to re-install Mac 10.0.4 and wipe Linux off. After deciding to go back to OS X, during the install process of 10.0.4 from the disk, when time to choose which HD to install it on, it will not recognize the HD that Linux is on, it only shows up with the OS X CD, and it is grey out...
I have tried several times to install and find myself stuck at this point of not being able to choose the HD to install on, it did have OS X on this mac before I installed Linux.
Any suggestions? My buddy wants to buy it, but only after OS X is back on it...
    Thanks in advance,
    Doc

Hello and Welcome back to Discussions.
Frankly it's a complete waste of time to go installing 10.0.4; it's nothing more than a beta and very little actually works on it well.
You should re-install OS 9 from the original install disks and ensure that firmware version 4.1.9 has been installed. Panther was the first really usuable version of OS X and the maxmimum that your iMac supports (10.3.9). Until then OS 9 was more functional in many respects. I'd advise your friend to get a copy of Panther from AppleRescue ($59) and do a fresh install of that.

    4. IMPORTANT scroll down the page as the sync bookmarks is hidden!

  • Problem After Installing UBUNTU-Time machine

Hi, I beg you could help me!
    I have a mid 2012 macbook pro (i7, 13 inches, 8gb ram, etc, NOT RETINA, 750gb)
Yesterday I connected my Lacie 2tb external disk to computer, It started to make a copy...and, it finished.
My setup was 150gb for windows (installed with bootcamp) and the rest for OS X (mountain lion).
Today I made a 80gb partition for UBUNTU, I've downloaded rEFIt and installed it.
After installing rEFIt, I shuted down my MAC, and ran ubuntu installer from a bootable USB.
I've installed Ubuntu, tested, played a little with it and then I rebooted to see if my OS X partition was ok.
First, rEFIt didn't show, so mac started booting linux, after this a LINUX menu appeared showing some operating systems and aksing which to log...
I rebooted again, pressing opt key, and rEFIt, windows, and recovery partition showed...i took rEFIt, entered OS X, and erase from disk utiliy linux partition...
When i restarted mac again pressing opt key, mac and windows partition where showing, nothing about recovery...so I connected LACIE disk, to make a restore of my system, but it showed that my last copy was on the 4 of JUNE (pretty old copy), but in time machine  appears that my last copy was yesterday (don't know how to solve that either)... (IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME HOW TO RESTORE FROM MY LAST COPY, DONT HELP ME WITH MBR RESTORATION PLS!
Well, after booting in my Lacie Disk too, I repaired some errors my macintosh HD had, from disk utility placed there, AND in this window also appeared a mac os hd of about 2gb (which I think its my recovery) but named as disk1 and without any chance of doing something to it...so is there any way to fix MBR?
When i use diskutil list command on terminal it doesn't show recovery hd o disk1 hd...
    THANKS

The 2gb partition i talked about it's the one given by using INTERNET RECOVERY, so, it seems that i do not have any recovery partition in my mac, so, problem resumes to restoring system by the last copy in time machine which is not showing in internet recovery, but it does shows in my user account.
    Thanks for help!

  • Installing Mac OS X after installing UBUNTU

    Hi,
I have searched the pages and found problems to most of my problems so far, but this one has really got me stuck. I installed UBUNTU (ppc) onto a 12" iBook G4 (not sure about the exact specs). Anyway, it was running fine. It's my friends and she now decides she wants Mac OSX back on it. Problem is when I put the DVD in, its not recognised in UBUNTU (which isnt much of a problem). So when I restart the computer, leave the Mac OSX DVD in, try all the combinations (hold c, or hold option... etc.) I cannot get the Mac OSX installation to start!
When I do this, then UBUNTU's boot thing comes up (l to log into Linux, or c to log into CDROM) and I will press C and nothing will happen (i.e. go back to the same menu).
I ran the UBUNTU setup again, to format the drive again (not sure using what format method?) but then when it started up, the flashing finder/question mark kept coming but didnt go any further (not that I expected it) but the point is there, the DVD didnt startup again! I tried the different combinations again (c... shift... etc.) and no luck and so I have been left with no alternative but to put UBUNTU back on to just be able to use the computer.
Any ideas on how to get MAC OSX back? (I think I have 10.4 if that makes a difference, am an advance PC user but only just got this a 10 days back).
    Thanks in advance.
    Deepz

You could also try to get into open firmware and boot the DVD from there.
Or download an iso file at a torrent site and burn a new disk or CD 1 to get to the Mac installation program and format the HDD.
Or remove the bootloader (GRUB? Lilo?). The keys at startup are managed by Open Firmware. The bootloader ubuntu uses or ubuntu itself should not be able to change anything about that.
I don't know if it's under warranty, but you can try to remove the drive and then test if the installer disk will boot. Or format it in a different computer and put it back.
What also might work is going to Open Firmware and then enter the command to boot from the installer disk.
You boot into Open Firmware (hold down command-option-O-F while the computer starts up; do that 1 millisec after you pushed the power button from a cold start), hit return. Then at the prompt type:
    boot cd:,\\tbxi
and press enter. Don't replce cd with dvd, just type it as it is. Warning! Do not try to use this as a shell or something. When something goes wrong in here, you're screwed.
type mac-boot to boot or type just boot.
eject cd ejects the optical drive, shutdown shuts it down, but pressing the power button once will do that for you. sifting [keyword] will bring up a list of commands close to the keyword, but beware, it's dangerous to play in open firmware.
Link to the command I told: http://litot.es/smr/2006/03/02/boot-from-cd-in-open-firmware/
actually, this is for something different but it'll work in your case.
Did you try the ubuntu forums?

  • I had the same UEFI partions after installing Ubuntu, and the Diskpart suggestion didn't work!

I have a system with a 128 GB SSD, and a WD15EARS drive. I was hoping to install Windows 8.1 PRO on a 90 Gig partition and the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 14.04 on the 30 Gig partition, and put all of the data and apps on the Western Digital Drive. This is
a brand new system using a Gigabyte B85M-D3H motherboard, 8 Gig Kingston HyperX 1600 Mhz RAM, and an i3-4330 3.5 GHz processor. My BIOS is set to UEFI and Legacy setting by default. I had previously had Windows 8.1 PRO and Ubuntu 14.04 working in a dual boot
configuration but found out I was running the 32 bit version.
I got rid of Ubuntu 32 bit by deleting the partition it was installed on and cleaning up with the Disk Manager from Windows. I created NTFS volumes on the affected partitions and downloaded the 64 bit version of the Ubuntu 14.04 .iso! The first time I tried
to burn a disk, it wasn't bootable, so I downloaded Imgburn and created a bootable CD. I ran the TRY 1st, but when I chose install the program did not recognized that Windows 8.1 Pro was previously installed. It wanted to install to the 90 Gig partition on
my SSD drive (which is where Windows 8.1 PRO) was installed. I manually redirected the install to the Western Digital Drive and the install proceeded until completion.
It was obvious that since Ubuntu did not recognize the previous install of Windows, the Computer rebooted into Ubuntu. This is almost identical to another situation listed.
The solution given was to open an administrative command line and issue the following:
    DISKPART
    RESCAN
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK #
    LIST PARTITION
    SELECT PARTITION x
DELETE PARTITION OVERRIDE  ; and I received the following
Virtual disk service error; Delete is not allowed on the Current Boot, System, Pagefile, Crashdump, or Hybernation Volume.
is there any tool that wil wipe partitions no matter what?

    Hi,
The reason why you encountered this error is that the partition you wanted to delete is "system" partition, marked as "Active", it contains files to boot into system, so you can't delete it with the command.
And here're some useful links about dual boot Windows 8/8.1 and Ubuntu.

  • ITouch no longer syncs after install iTunes 11.1.3.8/ iStore Authorization problem

I installed iTunes 11.1.3.8 last Monday on my daughter's computer.
While I was at work on Tuesday, my daughter connected her iTouch to the computer.  My wife reported that all her music was missing and she was trying to put everything back.  Subsequently, all the songs got deleted from my daughter's iPod Touch and now it appears unable to sync with the computer.
The songs are on the computer, but nothing on the iTouch.
When we try to sync, we get the following message on the computer's iTunes:  "<daughter's> iPod could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPod. To authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, choose Store > Authorize this computer."
We have tried reauthorizing, authorizing, de-authorizing, reauthorizing... all sorts of authorizing.  No success.
Any help would be appreciated.  No iPod => my daughter is unhappy (understatement).

  • Can't sync after installing vista

My PC was recently crippled by some serious viruses and i was forced to completely reinstall windows. As i thought i was resigned to losing most of my saved items i decided that this was a good oppertunity to try out vista. However, later when i had installed Itunes and logged in with my account i reaslised that i could not sync my ipod touch with it, recieving the same message you recieve when you try to sync an ipod with another computer(it will wipe the ipod if you continue to sync). I was really hoping i would be able to sync so that i could put my music collection back onto my computer as well as my collection of applications which have cost me a considerable amount of money. I want to put them on my computer so that if anything happens to my ipod i wont lose my entire collection.
I am very new to this whole thing so i am sorry if this question has already been answered or if i have posted it in the wrong place but any help would be much appreciated.

Did you create or update your computer's backup for all important data on your computer's hard drive before reformatting your hard drive to install SL which should include your iTunes library?
The sync process for iTunes content and for transferring photos from your computer is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone except for 3rd party apps or music/video purchased with your iPhone which is transferred to your iTunes library on your computer the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
Assuming you didn't include your iTunes library with your computer's backup, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPhone or iPod, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps do not transfer, you can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
If you use the Address Book and iCal and you didn't backup your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars/calendar events, before syncing contacts and calendar events with the AB and iCal, enter one unique contact in the AB and one unique calendar event in iCal. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing with the AB and iCal with the first sync, which you want to select.

Made the mistake of installing the latest version of I tunes, 7.2 I think. Now the PC won't sync with the Ipod anymore. Also sometimes I tunes just doesn't launch, can see it is running as a process in Program Manager but no front end. Also the ipod just displays the "Do not Disconnect" message all the time and does not charge the battery so my days are numbered for listening to the thing.

  • Problem with syncing after installing Leopard 10.5.8

I have a PowerBook G4. I just installed Leopard 10.5.8. Ran all the available updates and so far there are a few bugs that I can't fix. I need some help please.
    1. When syncing to mobileMe, the computer gets caught in a loop and the round arrows at the top right of the screen never stops spinning. Also, when you bring the pointer to the top of the page, it seems frozen and the wheel starts. The time has also frozen.
    2. When syncing to iTunes with my iPhone, it also gets stuck in that sync loop.
I'm assuming that there is something going on with MobileMe or with syncing. I can't find anything on this. Can anyone shed some light.

    Hi Eric,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7029
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Also look in System Preferences' Other row.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems

So last night I plugged my iPhone in to charge over night. This morning I open my iBook and the page changed to the book mark to match my iPad. So I decided to check out the photo stream and low and behold photo stream updates as well. Interesting, I wonder if Apple was doing maintainance to iCloud. May that was my problem.
