Unable Sync Organizer Data To New Phone

Purchased a Torch 9800 today and have been trying to transfer my contact list from my prior device. I had a Curve 8310 previously but lost it over the weekend. However, I backed my device up right before the weekend. I still can not figure out how to transfer or even access my backup data file to sync my new device.
Thank you for your time.

Additionally, when attempting to access the back up file to restore data the selection process leaves most of the entries as "read only" and they are dimmed

  • While syncing iPhone 4 (after OS 5 update) to itunes, I get the following message; syncing genius data to "my phone" (step 7 of 7) waiting for data to copy.  problem is it just sits there.  anyone else?

While syncing I get stuck on the last part of sync (part 7 of 7) syncing genius data to "my phone".
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Found this answer elsewhere,
"The Genius Data is a feature that can recommend apps, music and such, based on what you already have. The data is minuscule and not a size worth worrying about. It just updates to your iOS 5 device to carry over any new info on recent stuff you may have added."

  • Syncing When I Buy New Phone

I have always synced my contacts from Outlook using iTunes onto my iPhone 4s, but I have also added many contacts directly on my iPhone 4s. So I have a combination of Outlook contacts and other contacts I've added manually to the phone. When I get a new iPhone 5s, how do I get the contacts that I have added on my 4s onto the new 5s, but also keep syning my Outlook contacts? Are the contacts I added manually on my iPhone 4s stored on iTunes? Not sure how this works.
Another question: when I get a new phone, will music data be retained in iTunes (number of plays, date last played, etc.) and be synced onto the new phone or will everything be reset to zero? I want to keep that data if possible.
    Thanks!

As long as you backup your old device and restore the new device from the backup, everything should stay the same.

  • Can't sync camera roll to new phone

I have a 3G and just bought a 3GS. I have almost everything transferred over except the camera roll. It won't sync the camera roll and I can't drag-and-drop the pictures onto the new phone. How can I put the old camera roll photos on the new camera roll? Using Windows 7.

Photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup or should be and the only way to transfer these photos from the Camera Roll on one iPhone to the Canera Roll on another iPhone is by transferring the backup for one iPhone to another.
Photos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup or your iPhone alone for this data which can be lost or stolen. And importing and removing the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete will also reduce your iPhone's backup time, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
To have these photos and any other photos that are available on your computer to be available on your iPhone for viewing, transfer the photos to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync. These photos will be available in your iPhone's Photo Library and can be organized into photo albums or folders on your computer which will be reflected on your iPhone.

  • Syncing iphone data into New Macbook Pro

    Hey guys,
I read a few answers on the forum but I want clear confirmation if any of you could help. I lost data on my Macbook Pro as the hard drive crashed. I bought a new Macbook Pro and I want to sync the data of the iphone into the new computer.
I need to transfer, mainly...SMSes, Contacts, Photos, and mail data (My mail is all IMAP though which is good right? perhaps transfer that information would be nice).
Applications and the data on them if possible and music would be good.
Isit safe and as easy as plug and sync? I also have a Fruux Account but the iphone data is more updated because while awaiting my new laptop, I was using my iphone as the temporary computer.
Is there anything else I should do first? Sync Fruux first or vice versa and should I do anything else?
    Thank you!

Good, glad you have a backup. So what you need to do is move those libraries from your PC to the new MBP and then import them into iTunes. Follow the instructions you will find here. I would recommend you move the files to an external HD.
Prior to doing that I would also recommend you read over Switch 101 and Mac 101. Both of these links will provide you invaluable information for someone making the switch from a PC to a Mac.

  • HT4859 Using iCloud to restore data to new phone

I had to replace my iPhone today and when I connected it to my computer, I accidentally clicked "restore to previous date" (or something similar) that happened to be way back in 2011.  I should have clicked restore new phone so that I could have everything that was backed up last night.  Anyone know how to undo/redo this?  I have only texts, emails, contacts etc from 2011 now!

  • How do you restore  icloud data to new phone

I have just gotten a replacement phone and I think I correctly saved my data on icloud.  Now I want to restore it on the new phone.  I can't seem to figure out how to do it .  Please help.

If the phone is already set up, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.  Make sure it's connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.

  • ICloud and transfer of data to new phone

I recently subscribed to iCloud.  Do I still have to back up purchases of songs, etc., or will the iCloud take care of this?  Also, I am going to replace my iPhone 4 with an iPhone 5.  How do I transfer all of the songs, etc. to the new device?

Your purchased media such as songs and apps are automatically "stored" by iCloud in the sense that you can redownload them at any time (provided they are still available in the iTunes and App stores), as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
This article describes how to back up your old phone and transfer you data to your new phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.

  • Difficulties getting old backup data to new phone

So, I thought it would be a simple thing to do - But no.I had a Xperia ZR (with Lolipop) and bought myself a Z3 compact. Before I resetted my ZR and made a backup using the backup program that the phone has in it, not PC companion. The result was a nice 800mb file on the SD-card, with all the apps, messeges, contacts and so on on it. So far so good. The major problem starts when I was about to resett all my old data to my new phone, using the exact same program on the Z3 compact. It can´t find the file at all, there is no option in restoring my old data in that app "backup & restore". All files are there in a map called ´.semc-fullbackup´ but the app can´t obviously do anything with it.  A little help would be much appriciated!  P.S my Sony ZR is sold, so no luck there..  Cheers

There should be another option except for the one which requires the old phone found at Xperia transfer > Sony/Sony Ericsson device > Xperia backup from computer.
I believe you're swedish so it should look like this:

  • Transfering SIM Card data to new phone?

    Hi,
I was wondering if my SIM card holds all my addressbook data? I have just purchased a 6085 and want to transfer the data from my 6061 to my new phone. Will it all be in my SIM card or do I have to re-enter the contents of my old phone data manually to my new one?
    Thanks!

The 6061 doesn't appear to have any connectivity with the outside. No connection to a computer, no bluetooth etc.
The only way you have of saving yourself any time is to copy your contacts to the SIM card if they're not already there. You can find the commands to do all of this in the "Contacts" menu.
This also assumes that there's enough room on the SIM for all of your numbers. Most SIMs are limited to 200 or 250 numbers, and if you have contacts with multiple numbers (home, mobile, work etc.) they will use up as many slots as there are numbers for those contacts.
Once everything is copied to your SIM, you can insert that SIM into the new phone and most of your data will be accessible. I say "most" because details other than straightforward phone numbers will not have been transferred since the mechanisms on a SIM cannot store them.

  • I cannot turn contacts on in icloud to sync them to a new phone

I am in process of syncing to a new phone using icloud for contacts calendars etc and it will not sync contacts. I cannot access Mail Contacts Calendars folder as it ejects me immediately and I cannot turn icloud on for contacts as it kicks me out as soon as I click on 'merge'. It hasnt synced any messages either. Calendars have been synced Ok though.

OK lets assume for this discussion I am just as dumb as a box of rocks.........
I have the same problem....... I read your solutions...........
I let ATT&T talk me into an iphone.......refurbished.......$49.00 Ok fine. The computer part worked fine, set it up with itunes on the desk top computer.... no problems. Tried to then do apps with laptop to find out no can do - Ok fine.
Then refurbished phone goes down - replace with brand new phone and set it up on itunes with the laptop........ I get the same 1/2 tone screen as mentioned initially on BOTH computers now. Both are authorized (both running Windows). Tried the change the restrictions button from OFF to ON.......... itunes notices the difference and starts copying apps........ then starts removing apps I freak and stop.
There probably were some differences between the original phone apps and the new phone - should I have allowed this to continue?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!!
    Larry
