Unable to access boot menu - P875-S7310

This does not work. I have tried the other fn keys which also don't work. they work fine in Windows.

Satellite P875-S7310
the UEFI and only accessible from windows PC settings.
Not so. By default, Windows 8 does not shut down completely. It hibernates the kernel (so that startup if faster).  When restoring from hibernation, It doesn't check for the F2 key.
You can shut down completely by depressing the Shift key when you click Shut down. Restart shuts down completely (so that system files can be changed).

  • Cannot access boot menu/ThinkVantage setup/boot from DVD

So I am trying to install W7 from an external DVD drive but I am not able to
    a) Access the boot menu: Immediately after I power on the notebook, the computer boots into Win 8. There is no message displayed "Press enter to interrup booting" (or similar), but the loading-throbbler is shown directly. Other keys don't work either (F1, DEL, F12,...)
    b) Boot from DVD
    c) Access the "ThinkVantage Setup": The manual says I have to enter ThinkVantage Setup and select to install Win 7 there, but I can't find such tool on the computer.

This is from memory, hopefully it's close:
Within Win 8, bring up the charms bar.   Then Settings.  At the bottom is "Change PC Settings" it looks like a title, but it is a link.  Click it.  Select "General" on the left.  Then scroll down the right panel to "Advanced Startup"  select "Restart Now".
Here's where  my memory is a little hazy: either "continue" or "turn off your PC".  On restart you should be able to hit ENTER (or whatever key it is on your machine) to get to BIOS.
You may need to disable Secure Boot and change the boot mode to Legacy or UEFI + Legacy to boot your DVD.
My understanding is that since Win 8 actually hibernates instead of doing a full shutdown as the default, access to BIOS and boot options is disabled.  It's necessary to force a full shutdown before BIOS and boot options can be safely accessed.

  • Keeps defaulting to 4:3 and also unable to access cloud menu periodically

Just bought the LED TV 58L4300U, anytime I change inputs or go to different apps or menus, the pic size keeps changing back to 4:3, is there a way to set the default to full or any other setting? Also, sometimes I try to exit the cloud menu the smaller PIP stays in place and the rest of the screen is black, then once I am able to return to regular screen, there is no reaction when I press the home button to access the cloud menu and the only way to fix it is to reset everything, but I've done that 3 times and it's very cumbersome, any tips would be appreciated.

  • Unable to access apps/menu/almost anything

I am asking this question on behalf of my colleague
    Device info
    Your carrier: T-Mobile
Model info and OS version: We know it’s a silver Pearl from checking against pictures – not certain of the exact number and (because of the problem) can’t check the OS version or any of the other requested information but if I manage it I’ll update – sorry!
Basically the issue is that the apps bar (usually on the Home Screen) has disappeared and we can’t get into the apps screen using the menu key either - additionally the phone initially set itself to mute (and using the mute/unmute button did nothing) although we have since managed to change this to vibrate.
I did a battery pull and we left the battery out a little while to ensure it was registered (I haven't had my Curve long enough to work out if just yanking it out and in again work just as well - my old phone needed it taking out for about half a minute before it would reset! Stupid thing.) then after putting it back in it went to a white screen with an egg timer on it for quite a while, but did eventually load. It verified the security software and then went back to the initial blank screen that was there before the pull but with a large red dot in the left hand corner.
The first time I clicked anything after this it had a fit and gave App Error 523 (I haven't had a chance to see if I can look up what this means yet but will do after posting this) then when I clicked Reset (the option below the error report) it went off, the red light blinked once then it switched back on again.
Same thing this time only when I click after unlock although the red dot is still there all that happens is that the dot disappears and the other options on the screen move down a tiny fraction. It's still set to vibrate which is a relief at least.
The only thing we can do is get into the phone menu pressing the green button or a number, then from there by pressing the menu button there is a limited number of apps available (IM client, SMS, Web, Phone) and we can also get into the options for any of these once we're in but otherwise nothing is available.
I hope that's enough information but please ask me if there's anything else I can give. I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks in advance.

If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life.  Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

  • HP Oj 8500 A909g upper part of touch screen defective. Unable to access tools menu.

Upper portion of touch screen is not working. Can anyone suggest an alternative way to push wireless network configuration to this printer??  i.e. the *# menu with a number sequence.  I am setup and printing via USB, but solutions center cannot see printer wirelessly and since it's hard connected I can't find anywhere in that software to push the network config from the computer.  Computers previously connect to my old DSL network, it worked there btw, run both XP, Vista, and 7.  All printed to the 8500 flawlessly.  the printer functions normally.  It's functioning normally via USB, but computers are scattered all over the house.  We were forced to drop ATT DSL in favor of Uverse and of course, new network config.  Can any one suggest an alternate to the defective touch screen? I have done a factory partial reset via *#, 1,2,3.  I'm hoping that another number sequence will bring up network configuration menu.  Thanks for reading this anyway.  Fredad6l

It appears that you just need to get the printer on the new network as a result of provider equipment change, but not able to because the touchscreen button is not responding.
While I may not be able to help with the touchscreen, there is an alternative way to get this pritner on a network.
The alternate way will require a computer on the wireless network and a USB cable for this process.  I recommend having all printer software uninstalled before continuing as it will make things a little easier for this alternate method.
Once you have that (sounds like you already do), follow Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network to get it on the network.  Specifically, look for the section labled Method 1.
With the printer uninstalled completely, these steps summarize what needs to happen:
    1. Start the install from CD or from a download.  Leave the USB cable disconnected for now.
    2.  During the installation, choose through network and not USB.  At this point, the software will recognize the printer is not on the network and prompt you to connect the USB cable (may come later after this step).
    3.  The computer will share the wifi connection information with the printer.
    4.  At some point, you will be prompted to disconnect the USB cable.
    5.  At the end, the printer should be on the wifi network.  At this point, uninstall and reinstall the printer on the other computers if they have not picked up the printer automatically.

  • Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

QuestionI bought a new Lenovo G580 series laptop. After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit edition, a problem revealed when Lenovo driver get installed.
When I installed Intel HD 3000 graphics driver and restarted laptop, the Window was unable to start normally. It displayed an error, so a recovery program started which was recommended. But this program failed to resolve the problem. Later, I tried again to load Windows normally but the blue screen fatal error showed up.
I attempted to reinstall Windows again, but after restarting window, the boot menu was not showing up after pressing F12 key. F2 key was also not working either.
I spoke to a Lenovo techincal assistance expert and they suggested me to remove battery and charger and press start key for 30 seconds.
My problem still remains the same, and I am unable to access boot menu.
The bios version is  62cn34ww. ls there a way I can get this running again?
AnswerPlease take note that the suggestion below is just a troubleshooting guide. If the steps could not fix the issue, you need to send you machine in for service for further assistance.

If you are successful in entering the bios, pleaes load set up defaults
Save setting by pressing F10 and shut the machine down
Connect the hard drive back and check if can enter BIOS via F2 and F12 to see boot menu

  • Unable to Access Menu in SFP Layout tab

    Hi,
Could someone please help me? In transaction SFP, under the Layout tab, I'm unable to access the Menu (Edit, View, Insert, Layout, Tools, Palletes, Help). Is there any setting which I've missed out?
Just in case this information is important, my machine is installed with Adobe Reader 7.0.8 and Adobe Lifecycle Designer 7.0.
Also, if the users that will be using ESS/MSS can only have Adobe Reader 6.0 on their machines, I understand that there would be problems trying to display the PCR within the portal. Is there any fix to this?
Appreciate your help and thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Adeline.

    Hi Adeline,
    1) Can you see the Menu? Or is everything greyed out?
    2) Adobe Reader 7.0.8 is suggested to use for the end users. We had a lot of problems with older releases. Please note that in case of Netweaver 2004 you cannot use Reader 8 or higher yet. Adobe and SAP are working on this issue. (The ACF - Active Component Framework) cannot install properly with Reader 8.
So the only fix is using Reader 7.0.8. - The problem is client side related, not ADS or PCR related.
    Cheers,

  • Yoga 3 Pro - Accessing BIOS, boot menu and System Recovery

The following tutorial will explain the following topics
How to access the BIOS Setup
    Choosing a boot menu
    Start a system recovery
It is not the idea to explain every single option of the above, since many of them are complex and it would be too extensive for such a tutorial like this.
To execute any of the tasks above you need to press the button marked with the red arrow in the picture below:
Press the button when the Y3P is off! Use a small pointing device, I use the tablet pen of one of my Thinkpad tablets
Once you press the button you will be presented with the following screen:
Use the cursor keys to move up and down, press Enter to choose an option.
    1) BIOS Setup
The BIOS is where you can get technical information about your device, as well to change boot parameters and setting up security passwords. Be very careful when changing certain values, since it can affect the way the Y3P works and/or affect performance and security settings.
    Information Screen
It gives the hardware details of the Y3P, like CPU, installed RAM, SSD capacity and so on. This is a display only screen, no settings can be changed here:
    Configuration Screen
Time and date can be changed in this screen. Furthermore to deactivate the Wireless LAN and enable the Intel Virtual Technology. If you plan to use Virtual Machine software in your Y3P this setting must be enabled
Passwords can be set up in this section. Secure Boot settings can be changed here.
Primarily designed to protect users from rootkits and other malware attacks by blocking unauthorized executables and drivers from being loaded during the boot process, it must be deactivated if you plan to install Linux or having paralel operating systems
    Boot Screen
Boot modes can be selected in this screen, you can disable booting from a USB stick or from a network for example
    2) Boot Menu
This option is useful if you have Linux installed (using managers like LILO, GRUB, etc).
If you only use Win8 or higher there 's no much you can change.
    3) System Recovery
This option will allow you to restore the system to either its factory setup, or to a previous backup done within Windows
A factory set up will leave the Y3P as it was shipped from Lenovo your private data and installed apps and/or programs will be wiped out. So make sure you have an external backup before such a reset

OK article. Doesn't answer my questions.

  • Can't access windows or dv6t-3000 recovery partition after unix boot menu removal.

I have a dv6t-3000 laptop running Win 7 Home premium 64 bit; my son had put a unix partition on it. Since I tried to bypass the unix boot menu using MBR (the idea of my brother, the IT professional) the laptop just gives a unix error message at startup (error: no such partition. grub rescue> _) If I hit escape while starting up I get the startup menu including F11 System Recovery but Fn+F11 (it's a laptop) does nothing and hitting the F11 key itself just sends me back to the Unix error message.
Shamefully I never made a set of recovery discs; how can I boot into Recovery? Would the Recovery USB flash disk utility work, or screw things up further? Any help would be appreciated!

Sadly, I must recommend that you purchase a recovery disc set.
Playing around with Linux ( probably ReiserFS) and MBR does bad things to the Windows boot sector. One option is to reinstall GRUB. The second option is If your brother can find a Windows 7 64-bit repair disc for you, then you may be able to repair the boot sector.  That should make the original Windows 7 installation useable again. Otherwise you will need the recovery disk set to restore all functionality, including the recovery partition and the F11 recovery manager access.
    Sorry to bear bad news.
