  • Unable to access WRT310N thru browser

I am unable to access my router through the ip address (192.168.1.1) even though I have verified that is the address. To be sure, I did an ipconfig release/renew, but no results. I want to limit a user's network access by MAC address and I don't think I can do that without accessing the router thru the ip address. Can anyone help? Thanks.

To view the router's web pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If the reset does not fix your system, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • Unable to access network with wifi

    Dear sir,
    I'm using MBP with Retina 14" and OS X 10.9.1 (13B3116)
I can connect to my wifi and using the internet without problem but after about 30 mins to 2 hours, I cannot access the internet anymore and can't ping to my router (the wifi connection is also established, not disconnected or rejoin). When I open console and see wifi.log, I found this error show every time before problem occured.
Sun Feb 16 14:51:48.488 <airportd[86]> _handleLinkEvent: Unable to process link event, op mode request returned -3903 (Operation not supported)
Now, when I faced that problem, I have to turn off my airport and reconnect.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Have you tried changing the channel(s) on your router?
For 2.4GHz routers, Macs seem to prefer channel 11.
For 5.0GHz routers, try channel 149.
    Call back...

Also, keep a serial console or a similar feature like a putty session connected to the system console. You may see messages there that you cannot get anywhere else.

  • Unable to access youtube over wifi

    Hi,
I have recently got BIS activated on my blackberry bold 9780. I have wifi at home which I use for browsing faster. I have two questions around this.
When I connect the device to wifi, is there any way to know (or set) which connection is being used for communication (BIS or wifi) ?
When I switched off radio and keep only wifi on, I am able to browse all pages except youtube.com. With youtube, I get an error message 'Cannot visit web page page when radio is turned off. Please turn the radio on and try again'
Suppose I am abroad with no intention to pay stratospheric roaming charges, is there some way to make the device work over wifi?
    Thanks for your inputs.
    Regards,
    Aroop
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If both Network Connection and Wi-Fi are present, your phone will default to the Wi-Fi automatically.  To verify this, connect to a Wi-Fi network and on your homescreen follow Manage Connections>Service Status.  If you look under BlackBerry Internet Service, it should say Wi-Fi.
Browsing via Wi-Fi should work for youtube as well as other sites.  Do you have your Data Services turned on?  In later OS versions, you should be able to browse even with Data Services turned off, but let's toggle that to see what happens.  From your homescreen, follow Manage Connections>Networks and Connections>Mobile Network and make sure Data Services is set to on.  Try that and report back with your findings.  If all else fails, remove your battery while your phone is turned on then replace that.  That's been known to correct many issues.
Keep us posted on your progress.

    Hi there,
You mentioned that you have tried a few troubleshooting steps already, but you may want to take a look at the article below, specifically the section titled "If you are unable to access the Internet while connected to a Wi-Fi network"

  • Ipad is connected to the wifi but unable to access internet or receive mail.

Recently set up new broadband connection. Wifi set up and iphone, computer all able to connect to wifi and internet. Ipad recognises old networks and able to connect for wifi access, but for this new connection I am able to connect with the ipad but it does not seem to be able to receive or transmit any information, hence I am unable to access any internet, update any apps or check my email. Can anyone help? I've tried rebooting the system, forgetting the network and shutting the ipad off, all to no avail!

I've rebooted the router, I've made the ipad forget previous settings, rebooted the ipad, called the useless talktalk technical help. I have used this ipad previously with a previous talktalk connection. I'm not sure why this time I can't connect - perhaps its the security setting on the new router that isn't competible with the ipad? I'm using a D-link DSL-3680 router if that helps

Had a similar problem a number of years ago with a laptop my daughter had. The probelm turned out to be the router. What kind of router do you have? Have you checked for firmware updates, or at least tried re-booting it?

  • Unable to access/modify wifi after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro

I've just installed Mavericks OS X on my 2011 MacBook Pro. Although quite slow, everything seemed to go smoothly during the installation process. Once booted up in the new OS, I noticed immediately that I had no wifi connection on the device. I am unable to enable/disable the wifi, and more troubling, any attempt to make changes to Network settings seems to freeze up the System Preferences application. Once this occurs, the machine is basically useless. A series of restarts, shut downs, safe-mode boot ups, etc and eventually I was just getting a blank grey screen after startup (no login screen, mouse visible and working). At this point, I booted via the recovery partition and did a full re-install of the Mavericks OS X. Not surprisingly, it did not fix any of the problems.

Very strange problem (no surprise to you).
I suggest you reset the SMC (and PRAM, if you are able). That cannot hurt and might help.

  • Unable to access public wifi despite strong signal: "self-assigned ip"

anyone else have this? it's kind of embarrassing when all the windows users around me can surf but i can't. i'm getting four bars of signal, but i can't actually open a browser. i've tried trashing my airport prefs, renewing the dhcp lease, creating new locations, switching off "back to my mac..." nothing has helped.
i never had this problem in tiger.

Try creating a new "location" for this network. A "location" is a new set of networking records maintained by Leopard. The default location is named "Automatic". If you have more than one location set up you can switch between them in the Apple menu.
To set up the new location, go to System Preferences / Network. Click on the lock and enter your Admin password if necessary. Then select Airport in the column of services on the left. Then click on Assist Me in the panel on the right. Then click on Assistant.
The Assistant will tell you it is going to set up a new location. Name it anything you want. Go through the rest of the prompts.
This solution is particularly relevant if you are trying to access a public wifi that initially routes you through a login page or welcome page. Such wifi setups may not be happy with some of the stuff you have setup in your normal "Automatic" location such as DNS settings and such. Creating a new location gives a fresh start.
EDITED TO ADD: OK just re-read your original post and I see you have tried setting up a new location already. Did you use the Assistant to do that?

  • Cannot Access Email Using WiFi

    Help Me Please:
I too have a Verizon Domain account. I also have a Verizon landline account. My internet provider is TWC. Since 9/17 I have been unable to access my Verzion email account using any type of wifi. If I use an LTE connection on my phone, etc. then I can access my email using my normal email client (Apple Mail). When this started I could not even sign in to my Verizon accounts, but that has resolved itself! I can now sign in directly to Verizon server to see my email there. So my email account works, but I can only use it by signing in directly to My Verizon. I have spent hours every day trying to get this resolved.  It is a Verizon issue and only they can resolve. Please help me or direct me to who can help. I see other posts for the same issues, starting at the same time my did.  If this does not get fixed or some type of valid explanation I too will be selling my Verizon stock (retired employee) and moving on.
    Error Message Examples:
The connection to the server “smtp.verizon.net” on port 465 timed out. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

  • How do I get print n share to work after upgrade to iOS 5.  I can print from this app thru wifi.  But it can,t print mail, web pages, etc..

How do I get print n share to work after upgrade to iOS 5.  I can print from the app thru wifi and PC. However am unable to print mail, web pages, etc..
In mail when I try to print it just says can,t find air printers.  It used to say print with print  n share.

I sent e-mail to developer regarding this and they said that basically Apple has denied them access to the Airprint dialog in the new source code for iOS 5.  So, the only way to print to pdf is to capture the e-mail or webpage in the internal apps within Print n Share.  INHO, this really *****.  Apple should make printing to pdf files just a standard feature of all their apps.  If they don't do this, they are going to lose alot of business to the Adroid world as pdf file format is the business standard for all documents.
