Unable to Access Router Admin Page

So I have a weird situation where my router is working fine to allow me access to the internet, yet I am unable to access the router administration page, 192.168.1.1 This occurred after the router froze up tuesday. I reset the router to factory defaults and have since been able to get online, but not access admin page. Router is a Linksys WRT-54GS V 7
Modem is motorolla SB1505
ISP is earthlink, but in NYC so its actually off the Road Runner network. Cable connection obviously. - I attempted to access 192.168.1.1 with both Mozilla Firefox and IE 8. FIrefox gives an "Unable to connect" error message. IE 8 redirects me to search engine results (yahoo in this case).
-Ipconfig confirms default gateway and DHCP server is 192.168.1.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0
- I am able to ping the router with <1ms times.
- I have tried resetting router to defaults again, but same issue occurs.
- I am able to get online and access web pages, etc.
- Tried resetting up the router using the Linksys setup program, but it error every time saying "please connect router for broadband"
- Router worked fine with me able to access admin page until it froze up yesterday.
- Wireless works fine. Though the network is unsecure atm, since I can't access router admin.
-  I've also tried disconnecting all other devices from the router except my computer and modem. Still wont let me access router. System is running windows 7 PRO, fully updated. However, I can't access the router either on 2 other computers at home which run windows XP PRO SP3. System Specs CPU: Intel i5 running at stock speeds
Mobo: Gigabyte P55-UD4P
Ram: Gskill Ripjaw, 4 gb DDR3-1600 7-7-7-21
HD: Intel X-25 M 80 gb G2.
PSU: Corsair CMPSU 750 TX
GPU: Diamond ATI 5850 Anyone have any ideas on whats wrong here? Did i miss something obvious? Would greatly appreciate any help as having an unsecure wireless network in the middle of NY isn't the best idea. Thanks!

I am once again unable to access the on-line Router admin page. When I use the EasyLink Advisor and click ADVANCED settings it pulls up the browser but goes nowhere. If I type in the address directly it does the same thing. The address I'm typing is correct. I know because if I unplug the router for a minute, I can get on using the EasyLink or entering the address directly into the browser.  Then I sign in and can access the pages.
Why do I have to keep resetting the router to access the router admin pages? It doesnt matter about virus protection, firewall, what version of Windows I'm using, what browser I'm using...the only thing that matters is resetting the router.
And now I have a new problem.  When I attempt to go online with my new netbook, it causes my wired-to-the-router desktop to loose the connection, even though I reset the router and "added it as a new device".
I was using Homegroup to access the netbook the first day I got it.  Now I cannot access the netbook or the network from the netbook, without resetting the stupid router every single time. I am not using mac address filtering and have the router set to allow 9.
Getting fed up with this router and I never get an answer from Linksys as to why I can never access the router admin pages without resetting the stupid router.
I can get the netbook on other people's wireless networks (using their password) but cannot get onto my OWN using my password.
Does anyone have any ideas?  I'll try anything before yanking this thing out and buying a different brand of router. Yeah I'm mad, sorry.
Wired desktop Windows 7 Home Premium 64/IE8/using Windows firewall and MS Security Essentials. Netbook is W7 Starter, Norton Internet Security 2010. But none of this matters. Because I had the same problem with this router using Vista64, IE7, no firewall, no a/v, IE32 & 64 bit...all those variables yet the only thing that works is resetting the router.
SO WHAT DOES MATTER?  Help me before I trash this thing please.

  • Wrt54g ver5, unable to access the config pages

    wrt54g ver5
    firmware ver  1.02.5
i am unable to access the internal web pages on wrt54g ver 5
can access the internet fine. it seems to be a memory corruption problem
i has been doing more and more times

Since the router works, it is doubtful (but still possible) that the firmware is corrupted.  More likely there is another explanation for your problem.  Here are my tips for viewing your router's web pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • A friend using a MAC is unable to access my iweb page

My website <http://www.lindastauffer.com> I created a photo album page "KILN" . I posted it to a pottery group so others could see the building process. Many people have looked at it. There is one guy, who has a MAC who has been unable to access the link. When he clicks on KILN, he gets a blank page? IS this something in iWeb or is it his computer. I am using iWeb 09

Have the person that's having trouble with the KILN link try using Firefox on your site. If FF works then it's probably something amiss with his primary browser. If FF doesn't work then, as Tom suggested it might be related to his internet service.
Is that the only link he's having problems with? Have him clear his browser's cache (CommandOptionE for Safari) and reload the page and try again.

  • Since switching to Firefox 4 I'm unable to access a web page by pressing "Enter" after typing the url in the address bar; I now have to click on the bar; how do I change things so that I can go back to a keyboard shortcut?

I use keyboard shortcuts whenever possible but since updating to Firefox 4 I can no longer access a web page simply by pressing "Enter" after typing the url in the address bar. Can I get back to this useful shortcut somehow and avoid having to fiddle with a mouse?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Cannot install Software for E2500 or access router setup page

Please help!  I first bought the e1200 version and when I tried to download it on my computer, it worked at first and installed correctly, but the cisco connect didn't properly install.  I was able to log into the router online setup page ONE time.  I tried to reset it and reinstall but it will not work.
So I thought ok let me go and purchase a better one (thinking it was the router version having issues).  So I brought it back and purchased the E2500 and I am having the same trouble.
I have tried to reset it about 20 times and reinstall and it will not install at all.  It still gives me internet, but I cannot log into the http://192.168.1.1/ page at all, it tells me internet cannot display...
    Please help!

Hi there. Please check first if router is responding properly. Are you on Mac or Windows? On Windows pc, open command prompt (start>run>cmd for XP/ start>search>cmd for Vista and Windows 7) and type ping 192.168.1.1 and press enter. If you are getting 4 lines of replies from 192.168.1.1 bytes 32 something then router is okay. On command prompt again go down to the next line where it has the flashing cursor and type this time: start http://192.168.1.1. After you press enter, your browser comes up and normally will prompt you to log-in to area 192.168.1.1 and that is where you can use admin in both fields (username and password since you reset the router already). If you get page cannot be displayed still, disable proxies on the browser. Example if you are on IE, you click tools and then internet options and go to connections and click lan settings. On the small window that comes up, just make sure nothing is checked and  then try on the address bar again http://192.168.1.1. If your computer still cannot access it, try a different browser or a different computer.

  • WRT54GH - can't log in the router admin page

Thank you for your answer, I have one Linksys router model WRT54GH. I didn't change the login (admin), but when I try to enter in the system, it doesn't recognize the information and asks new login and password. I reset it more than one time but without success. I didn' t atualize the firmware. I only reset the system. What can I do to access the configuration area? Thanl you very much.

First of all here are the steps for the physical connectivity for the router:
The router’s power adapter needs to be plugged to your router and into an available power outlet.
If using a wired connection, the first Ethernet cable needs to be plugged to the computer’s LAN port into any of the router’s blue numbered Ethernet ports.
The second Ethernet cable should be plugged to the modem’s Internet port and the other end into the router’s yellow Internet port.
Ensure that you have no firewall enabled that may prevent the router from being detected.
After doing the physical connectivity check what IP address do you get from the router... You can check the IP address in the following manner:
    # Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
    #  A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" …
There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN.
If you get the valid IP address then try accessing the router’s web-based setup page. Here is the link for the same: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=3d655af76e21457fa8b71a0c3a2a0c9c_3676.xml&pid=80&r...

  • How do I access router setup page if the router DHCP service is disabled?

When I had DSL, my WRT54G was my DHCP master for my home network.  When I got AT&T U-Verse, their "gateway" became the DHCP master and also the wireless access point.  But the signal was not strong enough where I wanted to use it, so I hooked up the WRT54G again.  I discovered that if I connected the U-Verse gateway to the "Internet" port on the WRT54G Linksys, then my home network was split in two, which I did not want.  The WRT54G access point is physically somewhat distant from my wired computer, so I wanted to keep the U-Verse gateway as the DHCP master. (The U-Verse gateway is a router with four "computer" ports but no "Internet" port.)
I followed instructions on the Linksys web site, and using my wi-fi connected computer I re-programmed the WRT54G to be "Disabled" as a DHCP server.  Then I powered down and physically connected the U-Verse gateway to a "Computer" port on the WRT54G.  This solved my problem:  my distant wi-fi computer now has a good signal, and both computers "see" each other.
However, now I seem to have lost access to the WRT54G setup "web page."  Is it possible to access the innards of the WRT54G when its DHCP service is disabled?  Or would I have to reset the device to factory configuration and start all over if I wanted to make any tweaks?

You can still access the router's web configuration pages even if the internal DHCP server is disabled and it is connected via a LAN Ethernet port to your upstream router.
Did you reserve and IP addresses on the Uverse router for static IPs?
If you did, assign one of these to the Linksys router (LAN) and you will be able to access it from your LAN. Since you are not using the WAN port, the Linksys router will not pull an IP from the Uverse router. You are using the device as a switch.

  • WRT1900AC: Unable to Access Router Remotely

This may be a simple one, but I'm scratching my head over it.
I just picked up a 1900 for my personal use at home. I did a basic auto config (nothing fancy, just Plain Jane).
As a part of the config process, I associated the router to a Smart Access account that is different than the one that my Church's routers are assigned to.
For some unknown reason, I cannot access the router using the Smart app unless I am accessing the Internet through the 1900. If I access the Internet through my Verizon FiOS router, the Smart app tells me that my wireless router is offline.
I defaulted the 1900 and started from scratch using my desktop...again...associating the unit to the account. Again, no luck.
I established a session with my smartphone and tried again with my tablet. Still no luck.
Just to make sure that there was no outage,  I tried to access the Church routers....and was able to do so without any problems.
Is there an option that I am overlooking? I don't recall running into this situation when setting up the 6500s and 6900s.
    I FEATURE 00
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Is the WRT1900AC router connected to the Verizon FiOS router? If yes, it is possible that the WRT1900AC is configured as an AP behind the FiOS router. This usually happens if routers are connected to another router or gateway (router/modem). More prone if the WRT1900AC was configured via auto-config since this type of networks are not the usual modem to router connection. If this is your setup, reset the WRT1900AC router again and manually configure the settings.
    Cascading LAN to WAN:
    1. Check and take note of the IP address of the ISP modem/router (FiOS router).
    2. Connect a computer to the secondary router (desktop or laptop to one of the Ethernet ports of the second router). In your case, the Linksys WRT1900AC router is the secondary router.
    3. Access the setup (Linksys Smart WiFi) page of the Linksys router.  Steps: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=bd520bcb07a6474596169...
    4. Under Wireless, configure the wireless settings of the Linksys router and click on Apply button to save the changes. Steps: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=8ce9e83bd3784001aee72da7f1ef48e8_Changing_the_basi...
    5. Under Connectivity, click on Local Network tab > Router Details. Depends on what IP Address your modem/router (FiOS router) is using, make sure that the WRT1900AC router's IP is not on the same range and click on Apply button to save the changes. Example: FiOS router is 192.168.1.1, change WRT1900AC router to 192.168.2.1. Make sure the third octet is not the same.
    6. Connect the ISP modem to the Internet port of the WRT1900AC router.
    7. Power cycle your network. Unplug and re-plug the modem/router and router.
    8. Connect your wireless devices to the Linksys router and check for internet access.

I have installed enterprise manager 10g and also express edition 10g .But after installing the enterprise manager 10g and trying to access the url http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex .The xdb username and password is prompted.I deleted the entry in init.ora for the xdb parameter to avoid the userid prompt but still the xdb login credentials are prompted. How can I avoid this message in order to access the 10g express edition home page.
    Regards
    Pandu

It appears you've got two things listening on port 8080, or more accurately two things that want to listen on port 8080. The winner is probably the Enterprise Manager. The easiest way to check this would be to connect as SYSDBA and run the following to reset the 10gXE XDB listener port:
    EXEC dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8181);
Then, attempt to reconnect to the 10gXE on the new port. I suspect a new attempt to connect at the old port 8080 will return the same message. If it doesn't fix it, you should probably inspect the configuration file for XDB. You can do that by running the following:
    SET LONG 10000
    SET PAGESIZE 9999
    SELECT dbms_xdb.cfg_get() FROM dual;
You'll find the template for configuration in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/xml directory. Hope this helps.
