  • Problem in accessing the Oracle DB Express Edition homepage

    Hi,
    I installed the Oracle database express edition on my computer. I have no problem accessing the website when I point to the URL using the localhost : (Eg., http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/ or http://localhost:8080/apex/ both work fine). But I am having problem accessing it using my network ip address or machine name.
    (Eg., I cannot access it when I use the URL http://mymachine:8080/apex or http://10.130.1.17:8080/apex) . What should I do? HAve I missed out some configuration steps?

    Have you checked on the remote access option?

  • Is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 enough for preparing for the 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-144 Exams?

    I am planning on getting certified as an OCA PL\SQL developer. I will be teaching myself and I have all the material needed to prepare.
    Except, I don't have a database that I can solve exercises on and practice commands.
    The two exams I will be taking are the :
    1Z0-051 exam: Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    1Z0-144 exam: Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL
    So is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 is enough ?
    If it is not what other options do I have (I am running Windows 8.1) ?

    Yes -- 11gXE should be sufficient for practicing the vast majority of the skills required for those two exams.  I *think* that PARALLEL is not enabled in XE, so you could not test the functionality referred to in the "Use NOCOPY hint, PARALLEL ENABLE hint and DETERMINISTIC clause" topic of 1Z0-144.  I don't consider that to be a significant problem, however.  The material from the manual should suffice for the questions you'll see.
    As for what other options you have, you could download and install VirtualBox (free from Oracle).  You could then make a virtual machine on your Windows 8.1 machine and install Oracle Linux (free from Oracle).  You could then download and install Oracle Enterprise for Linux and install it on your virtual machine (allowable under the licensing when used for learning purposes only).  I have a similar setup on my Windows 7 laptop that I use when I absolutely have to test some feature that requires Oracle Enterprise.  Mind you, when I have the VM running on my system... it is ssssslllllloooooowwwwww because of the memory requirements.  I talk about using virtual machines as a certification aid in the following article:

  • Is the SQL * Plus Worksheet included in the Oracle 10g Express Edition?

    Hello All,
    I need to install Oracle 10g for a SQL class that I will be taking this year. I will be installing it in my laptop (Pentium 4, 1GB RAM). I was told by the Professor that I needed to have the SQL*Plus Worksheet. I would like to know which version of Oracle do I need to install, and If it includes the SQL*Plus Worksheet.
    This is my first time working & installing Oracle, so I would appreciate if anyone could guide me thru this process.
    Thanks a lot,
    Ed

    No, it is not included.
    However, the same functionality, and more, is in Oracle SQL Developer - also available free and download-able from the same area as Oracle Express Edition.
    Ask your prof why he want Worksheet. If it's only for the ability to scroll and correct previous SQL (eg: easier time correcting mistakes), and loading scripts, ask if SQL Developer would be allowed. It's much superior and allows you to use XE, which will not sink your laptop like the EE version will.

  • Unable to access the Oracle Enterprise Manager for Application Server 10g

    Hi,
    can an one help me in accessing the Application server enterprise manager console?
    I started the enterprise manager using the command "emctl start iasconsole" from bin. it started the OEM 10g AS control. when I am trying to access the site it throws an error saying "The page cannot be displayed". can any one tell me how to trouble shoot the scenario.
    The installation was on Unix.
    Regards,
    Jay.

    I would try,
    1. If your installation is on RedHat or linux varient make sure that the Apache from the linux is not running, (httpd is stopped)
    2. check the hosts file verify that it contains the ip and (appserver name) not just the loopback.
    3. make sure you are using the :1810 port
    also, check the logs using a tail to see if your having errors in the network card binding.

  • Can you import Access into Oracle 10g Express Edition?

    Hi all,
    I know you can import files from Access into some other versions of Oracle, but is it possible with 10g XE?
    I've been looking at all the tools in my browsers and none seem to do it.
    I guess I'll need to convert the tables into text, and then from text into Oracle?
    Thanks

    Why not give SQLDeveloper's migration a shot?
    You can get it for free here.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index.html
    I've never personally done it, but it doesn't look to mind bending :)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/appdev/msamigrate/msamigrate.htm
    Should work fine with XE.

  • Oracle database11g Express Edition

    Just downloaded the above database edition, cannot log in. says Invalid login credentials, yet I am set up as an account and it says "Welcome Winston" What am I doing incorrect, or do I need a separate login\Password for 11g vs Oracle Account?
    Thanks

    Which OS, Windows x86, or Linux x64?
    See the install docs ...

    nix: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm

  • Oracle Database11g Express Edition - Some Problems after Installation

    Seemed everything went ok until I tried the Query Builder. Selected a Table and checked fields to include in my Query. These fields do not appear in the "Columns" TAB below as the documentation says they should. Any ideas what's wrong?
    Additionally, I tried to "Stop Database" the database but I get an error as follows:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\BIN>net stop OracleServiceXE
    'net' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\BIN>

    Hello
    Is there an answer to the first question in this thread?
    "Seemed everything went ok until I tried the Query Builder. Selected a Table and checked fields to include in my Query. These fields do not appear in the "Columns" TAB below as the documentation says they should. Any ideas what's wrong?"
    I'm seeing the same thing. Works ok on Firefox but not IE9. Apex.oracle.com working in IE9.
    Many thanks

  • I am using the Oracle 10g express edition

    Is it possible to connect using a Java program? If so, what connect string should I be using?

    Hi,
    This is with reference to connecting to Oracle Database XE using a java-based program (for example NetBeans).
    Step 1: Add a CLASSPATH
    /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/client/jdbc/libs/
    Step 2: Add ojdbc14.jar to the directory of your project.
    Step 3: Import Java SQL and Oracle JDBC Driver.
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    Step 4: Create an OracleDataSource using your username and password. The connection string should look similar to the below mentioned.
    public Connection getConnection()
    throws ClassNotFoundException, SQLException {
    OracleDataSource myds = new OracleDataSource();
    myds.setUser("username");
    myds.setPassword("pasword");
    myds.setURL("jdbc:oracle:thin:@your.server:1521/xe");
    Connection conn = myds.getConnection();
    return conn;
    Step 5: Create a sample data table. The set of statements should look similar to the below mentioned.
    public void createTable(Connection conn) throws SQLException {
    Statement stmt = null;
    String query;
    try {
    query = "CREATE TABLE tutorials title VARCHAR2(70), author VARCHAR2(40),
    ref_number NUMBER(7,0) CONTRAINT pk_tutorials PRIMARY KEY,
    submit_date DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE";
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    stmt.executeUpdate(query);
    finally {
    if(stmt != null){
    stmt.close();
    Should this solve your problem, kindly mark the thread as answered.
    Regards,
    Naveed.

  • How get scott user database schema in oracle 10g express edition

    hi
    plz any on can tell me how to get the scott user database table details into the oracle 10g express edition
    Iam created the user as scott but but i didn't get the table details
    ...plz give me the details correctly.

    You will go into this path C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\rdbms\admin\scott.sql. You can get scott.sql script yhen you need to run the script like @C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\rdbms\admin\scott.sql. Otherwise you just copy the below script and save it into one file then run that file using @

    Oracle XE has it's own forum - to register and discuss XE problems with XE experts use URL http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration
    Once you have registered, you sign in to the forums and the link to the XE forum is there. But you do have to sign in as the user who registered XE.
    You will also need to provide a few more pieces of information:
    1) actual distro and version of Linux
    2) userid used to install XE (should be root)
    3) userid used to run "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe start" (should be root)
