Unable to access websites but IE can

I am unable to access any website using FF 7. I get a popup window that says "Secure Connection Failed! xml.freecause.com: 443 uses an invalid security certificate. Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate" and it won't let me close it out. I have to use CTRL/ALT/DEL to close out FF. I am even unable to access any of the FF support pages ''(including FF Feedback)'' using FF. I had to use IE to submit this. IE has no problem opening the same websites.

You're welcome.
I think that the website has now updated their certificate (Not before: 09/25/2011 00:00:00 GMT) and it should work again.

go on certain websites, but i can't use parental controls on my account because i'm the administrator. How do i prevent access to websites?

Thanks for the reply, BUT --- i can't fool myself. I can make all the other accounts i want, but i'll still be able to get into the admin account and therefore have access to the websites i don't want to have access to. Is there a way to block websites from ALL accounts?

Without knowing your credit union's web site it is hard to tell what the problem is.
Note that sites that use Flash will have problems as it is not supported.

Firefox cannot load ANY websites, but IE can, even after I tried all the ideas in the current articles on this topic as of March 10, 2011!
One day it was fine, and the next day it stopped working! I have tried everything suggested under the topic "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can."

You should e able to install FlashPlayer separately on IE and Firefox. So you may use Flash 11.3 on IE and 11.2 or 10.3 on Firefox.
Work from the administrator account. First of all sort out Firefox, use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall Flash before reinstalling 11.2 Afterwards check that IE is ok, the Uninstaller may have changed that so you may need to reinstall Flash on IE.
    * see instructions in [[flash 11.3 crashes]]
You are apparently using an outdated Firefox 8. That is not secure you should update to the latest Release Firefox 13 (or within a day or so Firefox 14)
You may also encounter problems relating to use of RealPlayer software and that software may affect use of FlashPlayer 11.3
    * see also [[Fix problems with RealPlayer add-ons]]
    * a user ''blacksabath710'' recently posted a workaround in [/questions/931055] suggesting use of free software from http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/
    P.S.
When you finish set Firefox's FlashPlayer not to upgrade, and until this issue is resolved do not follow suggestions from Adobe, or Plugincheck etc. to upgrade Flash.
Use this test page form Adobe in each browser and account to check Flash is working ok
    * http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
The test page will display version information and error messages or a Flash animation to prove flash is working.

the safari can search website but it can  not go through the icon. screen color blacken. solution?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"<br />
"Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"<br />
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Unable to access website using home network but able to access using school network.

Hi, I'm currently on a MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion and Safari v6.0.4.
As per the title, I'm unable to access particular websites, namely abduzeedo.com and fromupnorth.com, using my home network but when I try to access using my school network, I can access it freely.
The error message I get is: "Safari can't open the page [website] because the server where this page is located isn't responding"
I've tried clearing my cache, resetting my IP, deleting the library file (or whatever it was that some people suggested in forums) but it still doesn't work ):
    Any suggestions?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • What does it mean when others can access a website, but you can't?

I don't have any trouble with any other sites I click on.
So....there is one website that I can't access. It simply won't load.
    I get a message saying:
Safari can’t open the page “http://flylady.net/” because it can’t find the server
    “flylady.net”

It may be a DNS issue. Where you would normally type "flylady.net"... just enter 208.87.85.216 instead. This is the actual address for the site. When you enter a website by name, it gets the actual address from a DNS server. There are tons of DNS servers out there and others who are getting to the site may use a different one. Just enter the numbers as shown (no "HTTP:", etc... just the numbers) and see if it works.

  • My computer will access websites but not search engines (Google, Youtube)

I'm getting a proxy server fault and I've been messing with the settings.
I can type in any website into the search bar, but I can not do a web browse.
For instance, I'm getting a "timed out" error for any browser and I can only access videos not hosted by Youtube.
So I do have an internet connection, just no ability to run searches.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
I am able to view the site on my computer. Reinstall and access again and check whether the problem is solved
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • WinXP can access Mac but Mac can't access WinXP?

It was working fine yesterday and for the past year but today something has gone awry....
I can access my Mac from either of 2 WinXp boxes, but I can't access either of the 2 WinXp boxes. No software changes that I know of since yesterday. I checked IP addresses, rebuilt the permissions, restarted, restarted switches etc... normal stuff but no luck..
Where do I look for the problem, on the Mac or the Xp boxes?
the error that I receive on the Mac is :
" Connection failed - There was an error connecting to the server. Check the server name or IP address and try again."
    thanks!

    HI Dave
thanks again for the tips, I found another person with a similar problem that started yesterday too, he was able to login via Terminal but not via the Connect to.... so I pursued the PC side for a while and found that it's not the Mac ( at least for me )........ Norton AntiVirus on the PCs
The intrusions setup is normally setup by default to allow the local network but for some reason it's not allowing Macs on this network. Turn off "intrusion protection" within the Norton control panel ( if you have NortonAV, I think I have the 2009 version.

  • Apple TV can't access iTunes, but I can send a movie from my iMac to Apple TV

Why does my Apple TV 50% of the time not access my iTunes on my iMac, but when I go to my iMac and play a movie, I can then send that movie to my Apple TV and it works 100% of the time.  When I try accessing the iTunes from my Apple TV it says, "Unable to connect to [email protected] library.  I have 5 Apple TV's in my house and this only happens to the last two Apple TV's I purchased.  Any suggestions besides the obvious"make sure home sharing is turned on, on all your devices", would be much appreciated.  They are all set to wireless and they all have excellent signal strength.

I completely understand what is happening. I know that you are connected to the Internet. I made the suggestion because I have seen it work in similar circumstances. The Apple iTunes servers can be a bit fussy about things and sometimes rebooting the router clears up this miscommunication between iTunes and your network.
Have you tried signing into your account and then try to sync again. Go to Store>View Account. You will have to enter your password. Then try to sync again. Or try signing out completely in Store>Sign out. Quit iTunes, sign in again and then try to sync again.
Sometimes refreshing settings will help clear up weird problems.

  • Trying to access website but it says Adobe Flash Player not installed

    www.caesars.com/thelinq  live webcam
    I have Windows 7, 64 bit with IE 1,0 32 bit.  Flash Player 11.9.900.170.
Have been through the troubleshooting list several times but can't get this website to access Flash Player. FP seems to work everywhere else.   Any help would be appreciated!

Apple has built-in malware protection in OS X. This malware protection was just updated by Apple to exclude all earlier versions of Adobe Flashplayer. The current version is 12.0.0.44.
You should not be downloading Adobe Flash Player from anywhere but Adobe's official download site.
Once you download it, it will go into your logindir/Downloads folder. Quit all browsers, and System Preferences (if it is open). Next to your Trash icon in the Dock is an alias to your Downloads folder. Click once, and the bottom item will be the just downloaded Flash Player installer. Single-click this installer. The Adobe Flash Player Installer will mount to your Desktop and open a window. Double-click on Install Adobe Flash Player. When done, right-click on the mounted Adobe Flash Player Installer Desktop icon and select Eject...
In the future, use the Flash Player preference from System Preferences to update itself. Once the installer mounts on the Desktop, close System Preferences, or Flash preference panel will not get updated correctly.
