Unable to activate 3Gs! iTunes says the sim does not match my account!
Trying to activate, have been on the phone to Apple and ATT all day. When I go through the activation process itunes says the sim in the phone does not match the sim on my account. ATT had me go to the local store and have the sim replaced but still did not solve the problem. Anyone else run into this?
I am having the same problem. Did yours come with the correct phone number in it? This is my situation:
The phone number it had was my sisters (Family Plan), and since I did not want to activate it and deactivate her number, I went to my nearest AT&T store to see if they could give me a new SIM card. When the lady tried to activate it with the everything straightened out she got this message in iTunes:
"The SIM Card in your iPhone does not match the SIM Card associated with your account. To activate your iPhone with this account, please use the SIM Card associated with your account. Please disconnect your iPhone, insert the SIM card provided with your iPhone, and try again. You may disconnect your iPhone now."
We tried activating with both SIM cards. She called Apple; and after waiting forever to talk to an Engineer, they told me to go home and Apple will call you. I have no phone because my 2G was deactivated when she went through the process of trying to figure this out. I have a 2G "ipod touch" and an inactivated 3G S. I have been waiting for a call for over 5 hours.

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed. -

You've connected the iPad via cable to your computer, and your computer's iTunes is up-to-date ? If it's icon isn't showing then try one of these troubleshooting pages :

If the iPad is disabled then you'll need to reset the iPad back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to your backup -
Hi, Have updated iphone from 4.3 and had to do a restore which has now rendered my phone useless as it say the sim is not valid. I am in Colombia and this is very frustrating as I cannot just pop to the apple store here. Please Help...
Sounds like you have a phone that was hacked to unlock it. Updating has re-locked it to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Contact them.

I have my PC on, then plug in my iPad (which is on) and open iTunes. The iPad does not show up in the sidebar. How do you get it to show up so that I can select the iPad and then configure the sync settings in each of the settings panes....hoping that these actually show up.
In the manual it says "log in to your computer user account before connecting iPad". I am the only user of this PC...does this mean some other user account. I am confused. I need "baby steps" to tell me how to do all this....very senior and just learning about this wonderful machine. I will very much appreciate your help.If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

I have LR 5. When I'm in the book module and select the option to "Send Book to Blurb" i get an error message saying "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts. All the instructions on synching start with "find your device in the device window". But what if you have no device window?
Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.
I thought the libraries were the same. -
My wife received a new iPad Mini for Christmas-- when connected to iMac, icon appears in iPhoto sidebar; however, there appears to be no option to "unmount." Also, unlike my iPhone 4S whose icon appears in iTunes sidebar, the Mini does not. Any insights?
First open iTunes (version 11). Then connect the iPad. Now is it recognized?

I receive a pop-up from ICal saying the server does not recognize my user name and password for my me.com email address. This started yesterday and occurs about every 5 minutes or so. There are no problems with receiving or sending email through Mail. I did change me email password several days ago but have no problems sending/receiving since then.
I fixed the problem. I opened Preferences in ICal and entered my new password. No more pop-ups

I have already reset my ipod shut it off as well. I have upgraded Itunes and the ipod does not want to show up on Itunes anymore. It used to before but now it doesn't. How do I solve my problem?

How do I send files from my IMAC via bluetooth to my new Ipad? They will not "pair" but they are connected and discoverable. I send a file from Imac snow leopard OS X 10.6 to the ipadusing bluetooth, but the failure message says the ipad does not have the necessary services. What are these? Do I neeed to have iphoto and ms word to send pix and .doc files?
File Sharing over Bluetooth is not a feature of iOS devices. iOS does not include the required Bluetooth profiles to allow this. You cannot add this feature, so you may as well stop trying.

I updated my Itunes the other day and now, when clicking on the itunes icon, the program does not open?? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, resetting the computer, checking permissions, running as adminstrator.. nothing is working?? Help!!
Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

How to fix
If this is an AOL issue, try these: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select your AOL.com account > SMTP from the Account Info Page > SMTP from the SMPT Page > make sure that the Server is ON, make sure that the Host Name is smtp.aol.com. Further make sure your username and password are correct and added in the Outgoing Mail server; make sure that Authentication is set to Password and make sure that Server Port is 587
If this is not an AOL email: go Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts >Account Info > SMPT> turn off primary server, turn on other (e.g. AT&T) SMTP server.
Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Account > Outgoing mail Server SMTP > Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name and Password under Outgoing Mail Server. -
