Unable to activate my iPhone 5
I received my iPhone 5 in the mail today and I'm unable to activate the device. When I walk through the setup and I get to the activate screen, there is a different phone number that is displayed and it's not a number on my account. I've also attempted activation with iTunes and still will not work, anyone have any ideas?
I've spoken with support and had my case escalated but no help as of yet. Anyone have any ideas?

it did happened to me last year.
I spoke with Customer Service and they let me speak with the one who actually send me a new phone with the package that i can also return the wrong one.
It is from China and some hardworking worker makes a mistake.

A SIM is required for activation. If problems continue, the two most common activation issues are the result of a hacked or jailbroken device. -

Activation issues are typically the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken to unlock. Is that the case? If so, no help can be provided via these forums. -

You are now locked back to the original carrier.

I have tried atleast 10 times now either over the air or through iTunes in the past 4 hours, always getting the same response 'unable to activate your iPhone, connection was reset.' So thanks Apple, I really enjoy having a £500 paper weight.

Is your iPhone a Factory Unlocked iPhone or Locked to a Service Provider ?
Have you tried Restoring your iPhone by taking your device in Recovery Mode ?

That's almost always because the phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.

I got up from bed on sunday and got the message " software expired" on my Iphone 4. I switched it off and on and got the message "activation required". Since my wireless connection is slow, I tried using iTunes on my laptop to restore my phone to factory settings but till today i have been unable to get my Iphone on.

YuvenThe phone is carrier locked to a carrier other than the one you are trying to use. Contact the carrier it's locked to to find out what their unocking policy is.
If you purchased it from Carphone Warehouse in the UK, they do NOT sell unlocked phones. The phones they sell will only activate on a UK carrier and will lock to the first UK carrier used.
