Unable to activate new ipad

I recently bought the new iPad.  Tried to activate and keep getting the message "your iPad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached"

Congratulations on your new iPad!  I recommend following the steps below when getting an error that your iPad cannot be activated (the steps refer to an iPhone, but are still applicable to the iPad):
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.

    Get help activating your iPhone
    One thing not listed is trying from another location like your carrier's store or an Apple Store.
    Edit: (Actually it is listed in those steps lol)

    When I reset my Ipad to scrub everything to hopefully resolve a Facebook issue I was encountering.
    I was unable to activate my Ipad ( install and start up from scratch.) and I received the error message to say my ipad was unable to be activated because the activation server is temporary unavailable.

    I received my iPad through the mail, yesterday, and have been unable to use it due to it's inability to reach the activation server ('Could Not Activate iPad' error).     My WiFi Connect is perfect; all 3 bars. The iPad looks to have the new IOS 7.

    Make sure that the version of iTunes on your laptop is iTunes 11.1 or later. If not update iTunes.
    Try resetting the iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Then try activating again.
    Also check to make sure your Wi-Fi network router is not running a firewall. That might interfere with activation. Once your phone is up and working you can turn the firewall back on. Also turn off any virus protection software on your computer during the activation process.

  • Can't activate new iPad 2

    Hi,
    I just received a new iPad 2 and can't activate it with Verizon.  The Wifi works fine and the iPad indicates that I have a strong signal from Verizon.  When I go through the activation procedure, I end up with a generic error message and it says to contact Verizon tech support.
    I called tech support and he walked me through the process several times (after network reset, after total reset, with and without the wifi turned on, with and without cellular turned on, etc.) and it always failed.  The tech told me that a small number of units are having activation problems, and it is due to a iOS 5.0.1 software problem.  He will forward my serial number and other info to Apple tech support, and told me I would have to wait for an update from Apple.
    Has anyone else had this problem?  I am thinking of returning it and exchanging for a new one, but it would be much easier to figure out how to get this one to work.  Anyone have any possible solutions?

    Hi I just got a new ipod touch 16gb 4th generation & how turned it on to charge & set up etc.  I've connected it to my home wifi modem but from thereon it is unable to activate.  I have no idea of what software it's running.

    I've since been able to activate it to a degree - had to connect to a computer & download iTunes.  It still won't let me sign in even though I've set up & verified an apple login.  Very frustrating!!

  • Unable to activate new phone on my prepaid account

    I have a replacement phone to add to my existing prepaid account. I followed the directions via the phone number to activate it online. However, I get a message "My Verizon is temporarily unavailable as we work to improve our system to serve you better. We apologize, please try again later".  I have been trying this for several hours.  There was no Live help available for prepaid customers. So I contacted Live help via the sales page (knew they'd be there). They sent me to prepaid customer service (supposedly), but after waiting online for 5 minutes, I was informed by that rep that she could not access a prepaid account and gave me a second phone number to try. I asked if this would connect me with a person and she said yes.  However, it sent me to an automated message that gave me 2 choices- go back to main menu or hang up!  So, I dialed the 3rd phone number- provided in my phone's manual.  Entered my current number, phone MEI & SIM numbers and it automated response says that it was sending me to a customer service rep- then I get a message that I was disconnected and needed to redial that number- which I didn't have!  Worst most ineffective, fraudulent service I have ever encountered.  I have funds sitting in my prepaid account being held by Verizon and cannot activate the new phone with my existing number.  How do I activate this phone? If my only option is going to a service center- then Verizon should be telling existing customers that instead of deliberately giving out the wrong information.

    It doesn't.  I was able to load in phone information(MEI/ SIM) and the prompt said it was sending me to a customer service rep, but it disconnected and I only got a message saying to redial that number (that I was robo- forwarded to).
    I have attempted online, live chat, called *611, *22898, 555-294-6804, 866-893-7723, and 877-777-5759. Nothing works.  Will head to verizon center and have them clear phone so I can return. Will probably switch to a new carrier and another new phone.

    I currently have the iPad WIfi version and I would like to get the 3G version instead. I will be in San Diego next month and would like to pick one up at that time at an Apple store in San Diego. I do not want to mail order since I do not know where I will be and when. My problem is that if I recall the iPad had to be activated using a computer. I will not have a computer available to be while I am out of town. My question is if while at the Apple store in San Diego can they activate it for me or am I just out of luck until I get back home in order to hook it up to my PC? If Apple can't do it, are there any other options for me while out of town?

    Apple will be able to do your initial activation in the store. You can then activate 3G service from the device itself.
