Unable to activate new ipod touch 16gb 4th gen

Hi I just got a new ipod touch 16gb 4th generation & how turned it on to charge & set up etc.  I've connected it to my home wifi modem but from thereon it is unable to activate.  I have no idea of what software it's running.

I've since been able to activate it to a degree - had to connect to a computer & download iTunes.  It still won't let me sign in even though I've set up & verified an apple login.  Very frustrating!!

  • My IPod touch 16GB 4th gen wont charge or turn on. April 23, 2014

When i try to charge it, it shows the battery charged at red and a thunder bolt, its been like that for ages. i pressed the home and power at the same time, alot of times and for long period of time but it still didnt work. My Windows Vista (Laptop) that it is connected to cant recognize it, i have no idea whats wrong.. It happened a couple days back it worked comepletely fine but out of no where it dies on me and gives me that loading circle thingy like when your trying to connect to wifi or your wifi is slow. It dies and i try charging it and now its like this. I need help ASAP please help me .

If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...  Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

I am constantly having to restore my Ipod Touch 32g 4th Gen. This is the 7th time in about 5 months.

If you have only restored from backup in the past, try resoring to factory defaults/new iPod since there may be some corruption that is causing the problem and corruption is in the backup.
If you still have a problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod the you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is n order.

My iPod Touch 8GB 4th Gen, 6.1.3., has recently been crashing/going slow in a lot of applications and while typing. It's also been failing to download/save images from Google Search. I'm thinking of either restarting/rebooting it or just buying a new one. What should I do?

  • Just bought a second hand iPod Touch 32GB 4th Gen. The IOS is currently 4.3.5 and when I try to update to the latest, the connection continually times out. Can you help?

    Hi All,
First ever post on here but I feel that my options are slowly running out. I've just bought a second hand iPod Touch 32GB 4th Gen. It was reset to factory settings meaning that that software was 4.3.5
As soon as I plug it into iTunes it asks me to update to the latest version. I click for it to go ahead but the connection times out (error code 3259)
I've been on the phone to apple for over an hour and we still couldn't resolve the issue. We tried disabling the firewall, uninstalling AVG, diabling pop up blockers, checking the LAN settings, disabling the router security and anything else we could think of.
We still couldn't get it to stop timing out. I tried to download the firmware from iClarified but iTunes said it didn't recognise the software.
    Has anyone got any ideas?

    You said:

Just what did yo do to gt iTunes to see the download:

I do not believe that your parents will go "spastic" because your iPod was stolen.  I'm thinking that you jailbroke it yourself.  Am I correct?

  • New iPod Touch 16GB won't start

    Hello,
My new iPod Touch won't power on unless I plug it in via the iPod AC power adapter, and then I only get the "cord -> cd/iTunes" image. The second I pull the plug, the screen goes "black" - meaning it shuts off, but I can still see the outline of the previously mentioned image.
I've tried all the recommended solutions I could find. Power + Home button sequence, four different cords (I have a few older edition iPods) + the cord for my own iPod Touch (also new - bought together with my girlfriend - mine works, by the way...)
I would love to reset it via iTunes, but since I can't get it to work without it being plugged in via the AC adapter, that's out of the question. Also tried several USB slots on my computer (those directly tied to the laptop).
Any help or assistance would be nice.. preferably a solution faster than lightning.

I've had it on a genuine Apple iPod AC charger for 15-16 hours now, and the instant I unplug it, the screen goes semi-black. Meaning I can still see the outline of the iTunes-connect screen, as it fades away after a few seconds.
No response when connecting to a computer however. I've gotten one explanation saying that it could be that the Touch is completely drained and that that's why it couldn't get a charge via computer. However, I think I've blown that myth into pieces, no?
So is it broken? ...from factory? Sweet.

  • I bought my nephew a new ipod touch 16gb to replace his 8gb. Can't seem to get all songs or apps to transfer from the old one to the new? Any suggestions

I tried using itunes on his computer and it transferred his pictures and 25 of his 34 songs. None of the apps transferred so when we got to where we had wi-fi I enabled ICloud on both ipods. The new ipod shows where the original was backed up but it didn't add anything to the new ipod. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

If he still has his or your itunes user and password on his iTunes app, iTunes should let you redownload it again FREE OF CHARGE. Any paid apps you already paid for, will reinstall for FREE.
OR if u have iCloud for that iPod.... try these links:

  • When will the iPod touch 16gb 5th gen be available in stores?

Im trying to buy the ipod touch 5th generation but it is not availble any where but i want to buy it from Apple. All i see is the 64gb and 32gb but no 16gb. When will the 16gb be selling?

There is no 16GB model in 5th generation. There is no reason to assume that there ever will be.
Consider the following fact; the 16GB 4th generation was released only when the 5th generation 32 & 64 GB models were.
So, without "speculating", what is it safe to assume now?

  • Home button on iPod touch unpredictable (4th Gen)

    Hi,
The home button on my iPod touch (4th Generation) is unpredictable. Sometimes it works first time I click it, other times I have to click it more than three times to get it to work. I have triple click turned off in general settings.  At times when I have been clicking away trying to get to the home screen, the iPod controls will come up, which is fine, but I would prefer if when I pressed the home button once, it would take me to the home screen
It has done this since I brought it new online from Apple in May this year.
    Thank you

    Try:
    fix for Home button
Fix a broken, unresponsive or sticky iPhone Home Button
    - If you have iOS 5 and later you can turn on Assistive Touch it add the Home and other buttons to the iPods screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch

  • IPod Touch 8GB (4th Gen), upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 now not syncing

I upgraded both my iPod touch and my iTunes software to the latest. I realised I was not able to sync so I restored the device and wiped it clead using the restore option. Restarted and renamed the device and set it up as a new device in iTunes but I am still not able to sync my music nor movies nor apps. I need help to figure out this issue as I can only install new apps via WiFi, I cannot transfer anything using iTunes as sync button is always grayed out.
