Unable to Activate Screen Buttons on Secure Web Sites with Safari 5.0.2

I often pay bills online with secure sites, but today I was unable to complete any of those actions. The problem was that I could not produce the desired action when I clicked on action buttons (associated with secure emails in a list), such as SEND or REPLY. The problem was highlighted by red text notes telling me I should have used the onscreen buttons rather than my browser's arrow keys. Obviously, that's exactly what I was doing. It never cleared itself, even with a Reset Safari or Empty Cache. I did not have any of these problems before the recent upgrade to Safari 5.0.2.

That certainly could be true,...I guess. I did use Firefox 3.6.10 to accomplish what I needed with these secure sites without experiencing any of the same problems. So, it almost sounds like you have to *drink the kool aid* to believe it is the web sites themselves. I had this problem with more than one web site; as, I was in the process of paying four monthly bills online on different web sites. At least three of them were secure sites, and Safari would not work on any of the three web sites...I am pretty sure they were the secure ones. It also appears possible that to the degree that Safari is NOT standards-compliant, some fault in systems engineering might be preventing its ability to work with secure sites. I did encourage, through an independent email, one web master to investigate with Apple why his web site/Safari interface was not working. So, he might take you up on your advice to become more standards-compliant if it applies. I'm still in need of a fix that I can really use.

  • Can't access some web sites with safari

Can't access financial web site since time before last of safari update. Any help?

In my original post, not today's, I had said I was having the issues on the Mini, running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari v.5.1.5 for my bank's pill pay. I should have been more specific as to which machine and OSX Safari browser I'm having the T-Mobile problem with. My mistake.
It is on both the MacMini and now the Air too. A moment ago, I was able to log in to my.t-mobile.com on the Air, but after putting into my Bookmarks folder, I can't do it anymore. The Log in button comes up greyed out instead of green.
I'm also still having trouble with my bank's bill pay section on both computers too.
I wonder if it's related to the saving of the log in info or putting in the Bookmark Folder?

  • Cannot view or download PDF files from secure web site with Reader X.

Ran into a similar problem when Reader X first came out (Reader 9 had been working fine).  Only a blank window was displayed, but a work around was to "Save As" and use the view option to display and print the document. I recently had to replace my modem. Since then, that work around option is no longer available; it errors out saying that the file could not be downloaded.  We are using IE9 and Windows 7.  I tried another browser, Google Chrome, with the same negative results. Also, I got the same results on another secure website.  I have deleted and downloaded another copy of Reader X (10.1.1) and checked for updates, run the Repair program, and confirmed that Protected Mode and AdobePDF.dll are both enabled.  I looked at my Internet settings, too but found nothig that would obviously
    interfere with Reader.

Usually, this message occurs with Windows. First time I've seen it with OS X. Looking into it.

  • Why can't I download a PDF from a web site with Safari?

I clicked on an image whcih is suppoed to open a PDF. Nothing happens.

    Hey Carolyn,
I do have this app on my iphone and it works great. My issue in when I try to download a PDF from a page in Safari. Chrome does it without any problems. I'm just trying to use Safari more as it is apparently "faster" and "uses less power". Thisis based on the latest information I viewed from the WWDC.

  • Firefox cannot download pdfs on secured web sites .... any ideas?

For some months now I have been unable to download pdfs at the secured web sites of financial institutions. After talking with technicians they are all bewildered but point to browser or security settings but are unable to solve the problem. Do others have this experience?

Only security software (probably anti-virus software or the firewall) would show such a message if it was a Windows message, so you can check it there.
If it is a message from a Firefox extension then see this:

  • Secure web sites

After getting computer fixed at Apple Store and downloading all current updates, I cannot cannot access secure web sites in Safari which I could do easily before. i.e. my bank account, pay son's college tuition on lines and re-fill prescriptions. How can I fix this?

    Hello pete-o:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
If you have not done so, run permission repair. Then close Safari and trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist). Reenter your personal preferences and open Safari.

  • I'm unable to print pdf files from certain web sites. I have just changed to Mavericks

i'm unable to print pdf file from certain web site. I just changed over to Mavericks.

You will need to access that PDF on your computer first, before you can print it — unless that PDF is corrupted, which occasionally happens. Your printer needs to be configured and working.
Default PDF web-browser plug-in in Safari, latest (Firefox/Chrome) also built-in.
Click on the remote PDF link to open in browser
On Mavericks, you will need to click through security challenges for the PDF
    File menu > Print
Right-click on remote PDF file and then choose Download Linked File As...Open that file in /Applications/Preview.appFile > print
    Adobe Reader 11.0.04 PDF plug-in
Same security challenges on Mavericks as first bullet
With PDF imaged in browser, either select print icon from the plug-in toolbar, or mouse over the bottom one inch of displayed document and you will see a printer icon in the popup toolbar. Use that.

  • Accessing Social Security web site

I suddenly cannot access the social security web site, both its old url and its new url. I have tried to change my dns server. I can get to everything else. I live in Germany. This is a problem with both safari and firefox. My ipad can't get there either.

OK I went there and it says it's just me. I am lost as to where to go from here. None of my devices can get to the site, ipad, iphone, mac book pro. I tried adding a different dsn server. I still get a time out.

  • Sign into secure web sites

I have a PM G5 and  I have just bought a new MacBook Pro, both are running the latest versions of Safari but when I try to sign into some secure web sites such as banking I get a invalid username / password notification but I can sign in on the MacBook ? can anyone please tell whats going on.

    On the MBPro, quit Safari.
Open Keychain Access  (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the keychain for any sites you have problems logging in such as the banking site.
Relaunch Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure: User names and passwords is selected.
Navigate to a site. Enter your user name and password. When prompted, click Yes. That will create a new keychain for that site for you.
If that doesn't help, go back to Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all Cookies for sites you have problems logging in. Quit then relaunch Safari.

  • Cannot log into my secure web sites?

Why can't I log into my secure web sites or set up email accounts?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    1. Are the current date (including the year) and time shown on your system clock? If not, correct them and test.
    2. Check that the following files exist:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemCACertificates.keychain
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
If they don't, restore them from a backup or reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    3. Disable any third-party firewall, "security" software, or network filter. Test.
    4. In some versions of OS X, Parental Controls has a bug that prevents loading of secure websites. Turn it off.
    5. The process by which OS X checks the validity of root SSL certificates doesn't work behind the authenticating SOCKS proxies used on some enterprise networks. If applicable, contact your network administrator. The proxy server may need to have its settings changed.
    6. Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window, if not already selected. Enter "ocspd" (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Is a process with that name listed?
If not, back up all data, then select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Into the text box that opens, copy the following line of text:
    /var/db/crls
From the folder that opens, move these two files to the Trash:
    crlcache.db
    ocspcache.db
You’ll be prompted for your administrator password. Reboot, empty the Trash, and test.

  • Unable to login to secure sites with safari

I am no longer able to login to secure web sites on my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) using Safari. I am assuming it occurred after the latest iOS update. After entering my credentials, I am brought back to the login page; no errors.
If I login using a mobile app, that works. It appears to be limited to Safari.
    Anyone else see this issue?
    Thank you.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />
