Unable to add m4v video to itunes

Hi,
I have iTunes on my laptop running Windows 7, and I have iTunes on a small server running Windows Server 2008.
Same iTunes version on both computer.
I'm not able to add video (in m4v format) on my iTunes library on my server. It do nothing when I try to drag it, and do nothing when I use "Add a file"
I've been able to add the same video easily on my laptop...really the same video.
Somebody can help please?
I want to use my server to share my video library to my Apple TV.
Thanks!

I have the same same problem.  Have downloaded the Effective iPhone App Development videos (Part 1 and Part 2), 3 or 4 times each.  The video headers appear in my Library under the iTunes U area but that still have the "get" button.  If I try to play them, it just downloads them again.  Did you get a resolution?

  • I cant add music videos to itunes library of itunes version 10.7

I am using itunes version 10.7. I am unable to add music videos into Itunes library. The Movies section remains blank when i select a music video and add it to library.

Why you open a new thread for questions which where answered already 100 times...and do nou use the search option???
    But quickly:
    1. The IPOD Video needs the right video format
    2. There a dozends of 3rd party SW solutions available to convert almost every format into the IPOD Video compatible format - some of them are freeware - use e.g. Google to find some.
    One could be here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

  • I am unable to add home videos to my itunes library

Ever since I updated Itunes to the latest version I have been unable to add home videos that have been converted to the proper format into my Itunes library so that I may sync it with my mobile device. Can you tell me why? What needs to be done so that I am able to so again?

does it say your nano has no more capacity left?  Your itunes should have a bar at the bottom of the screen to let you know how much space is taken up.

What version of iDVD are you using?  What happens when you try to drag a track from the Media Browser into the audio bin for the menu?  What theme are you using?

  • Unable to view music videos in iTunes on mac

I have iTunes on a G5 Mac Pro It is on the latest version of 10.5 with the most recent update to iTunes. I am unable to view music videos many of which I purchased from the iTMS or came with music CD's as extras some are m4v others are mp4.
If on import I set the option for format as being Music Video I cannot get the videa to launch double clicking on the video gives a picture in the album cover window but does not launch the video viewer nor does the video play. I dont often view  music videos just Movies or TV Shows and last time I did I recall Music Videos playing they opened in a seperate window and there was once a setting in preferences where you could choose if a video launched in a new window or used on in iTunes.
I have used the info window to change the video type to standard movie and then going back to the file in iTunes double clicking launches the video in full screen mode. Once I then set back to Music Video it reverts to refusing to play.
In any format the file plays in Quicktime
Any suggestions pointing to where the problem may lie would be welcome. I cant see any relevant settings to set how a video displays in either menus or Preferences other than ensuring video window stays on top. It maybe in one of the many upgrades this Mac and iTunes has had the settings have been corrupted.

They will not show up in a separete category in iTunes. This is because the videos will show up as songs so that you can play the audio portion of a video without the video. Try it.

  • Unable to add mp3 files to iTunes 10.3.1.55 (Windows 7)

Issue:  iTunes and Windows explorer crash (freeze, locks up, stops working) when I add mp3's to iTunes.  I am using the drag and drop method but have also tried the File>Add File... option.  Same result.
After this occurs, I have to open the Task Manager, stop iTunes and explorer.exe and restart the applications.  iTunes becomes completley frozen and Windows explorer becomes handicapped.
This issue relates specifically to *.mp3 files.  Am able to add other media types without any problem (i.e. *.wav files, video, etc.).
Confirmed file extension is *.mp3 (not mpeg)
Removed an existing, stable file from iTunes library and tried to import it again - same issue.  Does not appear to be file corruption problem.
Have confirmed file ownership and modification permissions are set to full control, etc. in Windows
Removed and re-installed fresh version of iTunes.  No change.
    iTunes 10.3.1.55
Windows 7 (32 Bit, 3 GB RAM, Dual Core 2.6 ghz) [Stable PC]
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Actually it's a good question ... I have not done it before manually. If the folder exists does it mean that I have done it before?
The folder is completely empty.  I reconfirmed that I have full-control persmissions on all folders below my username ...
    C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ [Vista machine]
I have restricted access to the C:\User folder

  • Unable to add album artwork to iTunes

Try as I might, I'm unable to add album artwork to an album that I have in iTunes.
I've bought up the Info dialog for the album by either command + I or from the context menu to get the info for the entire album - and then I've tried dragging the album artwork as a JPEG, PNG and a re-saved JPEG to the album well or copying it in Finder and pasting it onto the well - and I've also got the open file dialog to appear by double-clicking on the well and picked it that way ... And nothing, I just can't get the artwork to appear.
Is there something that I'm not doing or is this a bug? It's very frustrating.

I have the same problem -- it used to be so simple with the previous version of iTunes.

  • Can't Add Any Video To iTunes

I've read through every single thread on this topic, but cannot find a solution and could really use some help. I rebuilt my computer and everything is working great. Except, I cannot add a single video to itunes. I used to add and remove videos constantly and never really had an issue. I've tried mp4, mov, different sizes, etc. Nothing will ever show up.
Most of these threads end in 'they show up in Home Videos' which would be great, but I never even get the Home Videos section to show up. I've tried adding them to 'automatically add to itunes' folder with itunes closed. Once I open itunes, they go straight into the 'not added' folder.
Been at this for days now and am at a true loss. I have 12.1.1.4 on Windows 7 64-bit and Quicktime 7. Any thoughts?

Hi. You can try to remove iTunes and the following Units by successively.:Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Also should pay attention to the authorize issue:iTunes 12 for Windows: Authorize a computer to play iTunes Store purchases

this **** itunes cant detect my computer videos , And i cant add it to itunes movies library
I want to know urgently how i can add videos to itunes movies library

Deleting a film or TV show from your iPad won't affect what is in your computer's iTunes library, and what you have on your computer's iTunes library won't affect the amount of storage that is used on your iPad - it's only what you currently have on your iPad that will use its storage.

  • How to add .mkv videos to iTunes?

    Hi everybody,
I want to add my movies to iTunes movie library but it doesn't let me to add .mkv files:(
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks in advance..

I don't know much about .mkv  I believe it is a package format.  If you're lucky you can open it in a program such as Streamclip and re-save it as .mp4, but that's only if the enclosed codecs work in .mp4  Otherwise you'll have to use one of the many free (or I am sure eventually somebody who makes one that costs money but basically does the same as the free ones will eventually post here as hidden advertising) transcoders to re-code it to a format playable by iTunes.
iTunes: Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing videos > What video content works with iTunes and mobile devices? - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2729 -- not very specific other than if it works in Quicktime it works in iTunes.

  • Unable to add music to my  iTunes.

I have music on my computer but I'm unable to add it to iTunes. I've tried clicking and dragging it in and I've tried File>Add to library and neither work. Anyone got any ideas?

I managed to dig up the CD's that the tracks came from and imported them directly from the CD's to the library. I still am not sure why transferring the files from my computer did not work, but at least I have the music on there now. Thanks so much for your help!

  • How do I add/import videos to iTunes?

Hi. I've only had my iPod Touch for two months now and I have songs, games, and pictures on it. The only thing missing are the videos.
i download them and they're on my documents. i don't know what video type they are. i download them from mediafire.com.
anyways, i got at least half of the videos that i want on my document, but i don't know how to add them to iTunes.
I'll click the file, and nothing happens. I've tried dragging, but the won't let me drag it. i don't know how to work iTunes videos.
    Help me.

I don't know if you have a mac or windows, but for mac there is great tool available I use all the time: VideoDrive. It puts any video in iTunes: simply drag the videos on the application and it will download artwork, metadata and then put it in the right iTunes category (movies or TV Shows). You can choose to convert videos or keep them in their original format (mkv, avi and so on). Obviously converting is much slower. You can download it here http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27326/videodrive. They don't have a windowz version though.

  • Unable to find .m4v videos

I dragged and dropped some .m4v videos onto my ipod. My summary screen says that they are on the ipod but I can't find them. They are not in the video or music or podcast sections.

This is a view of the Import dialog with any of my M4V files (importation by copying or moving the file)
It results in this pretty self-explanatory error message:
    "Houston, we have a problem"
