Unable to add to existing network

I am trying to "add to an existing network", however, it keeps reverting back to creating a NEW network when I click 'next'.  HELP?
Also ... under PPPoE ... is the account name and password what I require to access my ISP?
THANK YOU!

You only use PPPoE if you intend to bridge out your iibob. Do you use the voip? If not that will work fine. You need to bridge bob.. or get a cheap modem that is easy to bridge. We usually suggest the tp-link low end models.. 8817 about $25 or the 8960n which is just below $50.. prices will vary according to AUS$ dive.
Sorry I went to bed early last night.. but i have answered your earlier thread.
You put the TC in bridge mode.. and plug it by ethernet into the bob.. do not join or extend or anything to the wireless of the bob.. indeed turn off bob's pathetic attempt and wireless and just use the TC wireless.. so you will create a wireless.
I cannot give you an email or contact here.. but my email is on the website which I can give you..

  • New Computer to add to existing network

    Hello all,
I had a wireless network at home with 2 pcs. One tower pc (ethernet cable to router) and a laptop. The tower pc has just been replaced and now I want to get it onto the existing network. Do I have to set the whole lot up again? The router and network connections are still ok (I'm using the laptop now!) I did try running the linksys setup again but it's failing - my guess is that it won't set it up if it already exists. I put the ethernet cable inito my new pc but the system has not recognised any new hardrware. Sorry to be lazy by asking for help but I'm hoping someone on here has been through the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards
    G

if two computers are already working through the router , there is no need to run the setup again..for a hardwired computer..just connect the computer to the LAN port of the router and it should work fine..for a wireless computer , search for the wireless network and connect to it..

  • Add to existing network?

The wireless network in my house runs through my wife's PC. Since she works from home, she is very protective of her internet hookup, so no way to switch to an airport through my iMac. But, can I use an airport express as a part of my existing network to connect wired devices in another room, like speakers? If I can, is it easy?
    Thanks

If your wireless network is created by another AirPort Express (AX), AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), or Time Capsule the answer is YES.
Otherwise it is possible if the device creating your wireless network supports ProxySTA. If it does not support ProxySTA then the answer is NO.

  • If I add time capsule to my existing network will I be using the time capsules dualband network?

I already have a wireless network, and I want to be able to use time capsule for backups and it's dualband network. Would I be able to just add to existing network to get both of those features or would I have to create a whole new wireless network. Just to clarify on the setup, would I plug the time capsule into my router that's connected to the modem?
Sorry I'm very new at this.
    Thank you,
    Ferg

The Time Capsule is a router / hard drive only. It does not have a built in modem.
If your current "router" is really a gateway (combination modem / router on the same chassis), you will need to plug the Time Capsule into one of the ethernet ports on your "router" and configure the Time Capsule to "create a wireless network".
It's very important that you configure the Time Capsule in "Bridge Mode", if you connect it to your current router.
If on the other hand, you have a separate modem now and your router is connected to the modem, you could simply replace the old router with the Time Capsule.
Post back if you need more info.

  • Add time capsule to existing network to make subnetwork (two routers?)

We have a modem/router (motorola) provided by isp to connect to internet.  Most devices connect to this wirelessly.  We just purchased an Airport + Time Capsule to create a subnetwork (add to existing network via ethernet cable), so that only a few devices can wirelessly connect to Airport + Time capsule to store time machine back up and to wirelessly print to one printer connected by usb to Time Capsule.  When I select "I want to add to existing network" the motorola only shows up as a wireless, can't see the wired option.  I tested that the ethernet cable works and connected to one port on motorola and WAN on Time Capsule.  How do I tell Airport + Time Capsule to connect to motorola modem/router via the ethernet cable?  I think I want it to connect via cable because I don't want the Airport to replace the existing router, rather I want to end up with two routers (one for entire network, and second one just for subnetwork).
    Thank you.

Ok, your question confused me with the airport and TC as if it is two things not one.
when I connect the ethernet cable to TC, why doesn't modem/router show up in connect to list?  Or if wrong list, where should I look, to select, to get it to "see" what it is connected to by ethernet?
Are you using v6 in Lion utility? I am using SL with 5.5 utility. There is no such place that I can find. (You will do better downloading and using v5.6 for Lion anyway).
On the manual setup.. summary page it will show the IP you get on the WAN port. From default settings this will all work properly.. there is nothing you need to do.
Plug ethernet from modem router to TC wan port. When you do the TC will get an IP.
If you open the internet tab, you can see Connect using.. ethernet. Just leave that. and everything else on auto.
For connection sharing, you still need to share a public IP.. although TC will complain you are not using public but private IP.. there is nothing you can do about that. Just set the TC to ignore the error double NAT.
When I began installation, I plugged everything in, then plugged in power.  I opened Airport Utility, and followed on-screen instructions, but when selecting "connect to existing network with ethernet cable" my modem/router doesn't appear in the list.
Do not use connect to existing network.. that will bridge the TC which you don't want.
You have to use the existing network as if it is public network. And stuff behind your TC is private.
If I set the TC to bridge mode, won't it "take over" all router activity, and the first group of computers won't be able to connect directly to motorola? (I don't want this first group of computers to be able to connect to the TC).
Also, I don't want the TC to connect to the motorola wirelessly.)
If you set the TC to bridge it will not route at all... it will become a client of the existing network. And all IP addresses will be taken from the Motorola.. you will have one flat network, which is what usually people want.
If you are still struggling.. do this.
    1. Tell me the IP address the existing Motorola is passing to the clients. Your one big issues here is making sure they are in fact on two different subnets.
    2. As long as condition of 1 is fulfulled this will work at default setting. Reset the TC by holding down the reset for 10sec.
Plug Lan motorola to WAN TC.
Plug a computer into the TC to do setup.
Set up as if you have public IP on wan. Tell TC to ignore double NAT.
Set wireless and TC names as you want.
Now test internet.. on a client computer on the TC. it should work fine. At least for everything that doesn't need interactive connection.
    3. You can improve things by using DMZ in the Motorola to the TC. That alleviates at least some of the issues that arise with double NAT.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 VPN connection issue ("Unable to add route")

I'm trying to get IPSec VPN working onto a new Cisco ASA5505. Pretty standard configuration.
    Setup:
    * Cisco VPN client on Windows 7 (v5.0.07.0290 x64 on Laptop1 and v5.0.07.0440 x64 on Laptop2)
    * PPPoE/NAT and internal DHCP on the ASA were configured with the Startup Wizard in ASDM
NATting is working fine - internal PCs get an IP address in the 192.168.2.0/24 range and can all access the Internet.
I wanted to be able to connect from anywhere to the ASA in order to reach one of the internal servers. Should be pretty basic.
First I tried with the built-in ASDM IPSec Wizard, instructions found here.
VPN clients can connect to the ASA, are connected (until they're manually disconnected), but cannot reach the internal network nor the Internet. Note VPN client can connect fine to a different VPN site (not administered by myself).

I've already tried the suggestions from this link, although the problem is different there (as the user can still access the internet, even without split tunneling, which I cannot).
A show run shows the following output (note in the below I have tried a different VPN network: 192.168.3.0/24 instead of 172.16.1.0/24 seen in the Client log)
Result of the command: "sh run"

Unfortunately I'm getting the same "AddRoute failed to add a route with metric of 0: code 160" error message.
I'm very confused as this should be a pretty standard setup. I tried to follow the instructions on the Cisco site to the letter...
The only "differences" in my setup are an internal network of 192.168.2.0 (with ASA IP address 192.168.2.254) and PPPoE with DHCP instead of no PPPoE at all.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Yes, I have tried from a different laptop - same results. Using that laptop I can connect to a different IPSec site without issues.

  • I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express

I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express.
I am using a DLink DI-524 Router, Windows 7 (64), and the AirPort Express.
AirPort Utility will not recognize the AEX wirelessly, it will only recognize it when it is connected by Ethernet. I can then configure the AEX and verify that the settings stick once disconnected and then reconnected. However, even after that, it will not recognize the AEX once disconnected from the Ethernet cable.
I followed the suggestions of several other threads on these forums. But I am unable to get the AEX to work.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussion area!
It's almost always a security setting that causes problems when the Airport Express (AX) tries to join a third party wireless network. The AX usually does not "join" correctly and that's why you can't see it on your wireless network using AirPort Utility.
Using an ethernet cable is still the more reliable way to configure and adjust the AX, but if you are want to try to configure it using wireless, you must return the AX back to factory defaults as follows:
    Power down the AX
Hold in the reset button +and keep holding it in+ as you plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button after 10 seconds
When it is set to factory defaults, the AX broadcasts a wireless signal with a network name like "apple network xxxxxx" where the "x's" are either letters or numbers. You must look for this network by clicking on the fan shaped Airport icon at the top of the screen. If you don't see this network, then click Join Other Network to search that way. Unless you connect to this network, you will not be able to configure the AX using wireless.
Do you know the exact security type that your D-Link router is using? That is the key element in the process.
Open AirPort utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab to establish a name for the AX, device password and adjust time zone settings
    Click the Wireless tab
    Wireless Mode....Join a wireless network
Wireless Network Name...must exactly match your D-Link wireless network name
Enable ethernet clients if you want the port to be active (your D-Link must be compatible with ProxySTA for this to work)
Wireless Security...exact setting of the D-Link network. WEP security causes a lot of issues. Try to use WPA/WPA2 Personal, which is far more secure.
Wireless Password...must match the D-Link network
Click the Music icon to enable AirTunes
    Click Update to save settings
    Any luck?

  • Unable to add books - "the document that you are attempting to add already exists in the library" - there is NOTHING in the liabrary. Any suggestions??

I  just downloaded Digital Editions so I can read proceedings from a conference. I followed the instructions but cannot add the
proceedings to ADE. The error message reads "Unable to add document xxx.epub. The document that you are attempting to
add already exists in the library" There is nothing in the library, can't add the "Getting started" . e-book - same message. I did
delete ADE and re-downloaded it. Is there anything else I can do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • HT1731 "AirPort Express: How to join an existing Wi-Fi network in client mode" = 'Add to an existing network' will not result in pure client mode

Choosing that option will always end-up in extending my wireless network.
What I want to achieve is to just add my AE to the existing WIFI network and to use it for local access like AirPlay or Printing.
No other client e.g. iPhone, iPad etc. should be able to connect to that AE wireless.
So it seems that there's one step missing in that description.
As a last step you need to manually change the set-up so that Network Mode shows 'connect to wireless network'.
Afterwards your AE will be finally in 'Cient Mode'.

Thanks you!  Apple's documentation is either contradictory or incomplete.  To configure a factory default AE to "join" a network with
Airport Utility 6, you must first select "Add to an existing network".  That results in the AE extending a network.  Then later, edit the configuration (wireless tab) to specify "join" rather than "extend".
You can "join" a network which has already been extended; this improves the wireless reach, since you can not extend a network which has already been extended.  So you can have:
Apple Extreme  <---->  Apple Express (extending)  <------>  Apple Express (joining)  <-----> ethernet-device

I have been unable to add an HP Photosmart C4480 printer to my existing printer list using a USB connection. Software seems to be available and thought I had downloaded it, but doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Try deleting the printer, restarting, and trying software update again.
If that doesn't work, you can download the entire HP package here:

  • Add new city into existing Network metadata

i have one network data model in my database for delhi city i am using Oracle 10 g spatial. how to add one more city into existing network metadata?

If the column structure is different, how did you load the Delhi data into NDM tables ?
You have to load the shape file first and then do the required mapping to move that into the NDM tables.
Secondly, are you using the PL/SQL api to do the network analysis ? Or are you using the Java api ?

    *Update*
I thought I had found the offending 'app' namely "Songpop."
I regularly use "Songpop" on my phone late at night via my wifi connection.
All enteries on my phonebill are at midnight (even though I have a data allowance it was excluded from allowance). I switched 3G off on Friday, played "Songpop" at midnight and at the exact time I got a "Server Error" message.
I posted a message on the "Songpop" support forum. At first they said this was a problem relating to my ISP.
I have spoken to my ISP and asked if there are connection drops at the time I have been billed (ie to establish if my wifi dropped and 3G kicked in without my knowledge) and have been advised that there aren't any connection drops at that time.
"Songpop" have now responded that "This is an issue to take up with Apple Support"  see: http://support.songpop.fm/songpop/topics/playing_songpop_on_phone_via_wifi_but_i ncurring_download_data_charges_for_3g_useage?utm_content=topic_link&utm_medium=e mail&utm_source=reply_notification
Hopefully someone at Apple can respond ....

  • Unable to Add Photo/Vid to Existing Album

    Hello,
Racking my brain on this one and didn't find anything on a cursory search.
I am trying to add pics/vids to an existing album on my iPhone 5 w/iOS 7.  When I select the photo or vid from either albums or roll, select "Add to Album" all of my existing albums are grayed out and only the option to add to "New Album" is available.  How can I add a photo/vid to an existing album on my iPhone?  The workound I have used is to sync the iPhone with iTunes and and manually add the pic/vid to the existing album and then re-sync - cumbersome to say the least.
    Thanks!

I have discovered that the problem is that the albums I was trying to add the new photos/vids were created on my computer and one is unable to add photos to such albums.  Creating a new album on my iPhone allowed me to add photos/vids to it on the fly.
    Thanks!

  • How do I add time capsule to existing network?

How do I add time capsule to existing network?

Ok.. I am still confused as an Express only has one ethernet for LAN not 4. So you perhaps have an extreme..
If you have an airport extreme.. plug the TC into the extreme with ethernet.. and set it up as bridge in router.
You can also create a wireless network that works alongside the extreme.. this is the best way.
It is also possible to setup the TC to extend the wireless of the extreme.. but this will make backups much slower.. at least half the speed if not worse.
