Unable to answer calls with 3.0 OS

I posted this problem before with the 2.1 firmware here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1722193
It appears to be even worse with 3.0, for me anyway. I just upgraded to 3.0 and out of my first 5 calls with it I had a hard time answering 4 of them. One of them was missed altogether. The slider just refused to slide. What can I say. I was so hopeful this would be fixed. Oh well.
BTW, my "sometimes successful workaround" (change the ringer switch position) didn't seem to help.

I have had this same problem. I had back on version 2, but thought it might be related to 3G phone being jailbroken. New 3GS does the same thing. Appears to happen mostly when the ringer is off. Sometimes the slider will move but everything stops with that, phone will not "pick up".
I also have used the same "sometimes workaround" flipping the ringer switch back and forth.

Aha!  Thank you!!!  That was not obvious. Sometimes I don't get the green and red icons.  So it's slide it to the right for answering and slide to the left for voice mail.

  • Is It just me? answering calls with Q

Is It just me ? I don't have huge fingers... but when i go to answer a call i end up pressing the Q key , assuming i have answered the call , put the phone to my ear.. then deafen myself with my own ringer... then try to delete Q to answer the call... soloution: how to remap Q to answer calls ( only when phone is ringing so i think the regular keychanger won't work ) ? surely i am not alone ?

The iPhone battery is generally very good; even when using MobileMe with Push enabled, etc.
BUT; once you add a Microsoft Exchange account & leave Push enabled, you could probably watch the battery drain like a sewer right after a heavy rain storm.
OK, what you are seeing is a problem with your phone, not a general problem with the iPhone or any specific release. Most of the time my phone gets excellent battery life with Exchange Push enabled. Occasionally (a couple of times a year) I suddenly see a heavy battery drain with Push on. I've seen it with every release of iPhone software since Activesync was added. I've concluded that something is broken when this happens. An IT admin in the forum posted about a year ago that he saw many open connections to phones of users when they were reporting this problem. He rebooted the Exchange server and the problem went away for a while. As most of us don't have that option I've found a couple of ways to fix it on the phone. One or more of them has always worked for me.
    1. Reset Network Settings on the phone and reboot.
    2. Go into Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the Exchange account and turn off all 3 functions. Then reboot, go back and turn them on.
If these don't fix it what I do is go into Settings again and delete the Exchange account. I then reboot and add it back. I then wait several hours for the account to resync (it's best to do this with a WiFi connection). When all of my email, contacts and calendar entries have reappeared I fully charge the phone and test battery life again. This sequence has always worked for me, but I have seen posts from owners who say it did not work. But most say it works.

  • Answering calls with Pixi. Drag button unreliable

Is there any other way to answer calls on the Pixi aside from dragging the onscreen green icon? I have missed too many calls because the green drag button either freezes or goes away.

If I'm not mistaken [and it's late, so I might not be remembering properly], you can accept a phone call by sliding your phone open.  Not sure if that was something I had to turn on.  I know that if it's already open instead of the drag thing you get simple green and red buttons on the pop-up.  Try sliding it open on your next call.  There's also an option for ending a call by sliding the phone shut--I keep that off as I like to switch it depending on what I'm doing.

  • Unable to answer calls in windows 8.1

Ive been having issues answering and making skype calls since upgrading to windows 8.1 some time ago. Basically I have been unable to connect to incoming calls sporadically. It can take up to as many as 10 attempts before I am succesfully able to join. resetting skype does not seem to solve the issue. there is also an error message that says problem with the recording device, though my mic is working just fine. anyone else experiencing this?

I am sorry I saw that the thread was showing solved and didn't return until tonight.
Here is a guide page that will help you do a System Recovery.  Read each section carefully to assure that you know exactly how to do the Recovery.  You should read the section on Microsoft System Restore.  If it is setup, you may be able to choose a date when the system was running properly and this will solve your problem.

  • Why can't I answer a call with speaker on?

    iPhone 6; iOS 8.1.
Generally when I'm at home I want to answer calls with the speaker on, but I don't see any way to do this [see note below]. Instead, I have to slide to answer, wait 1-3 seconds for the audio button to appear (bluetooth is enabled), and then touch "Speaker". In the interval, the caller hears nothing while perhaps saying, "Hello? Hello?". So if I want to converse with speaker on, I have to say, "Hold on" first, touch Audio and then Speaker.
Note: I generally do NOT want to answer with speaker on when I'm away from home. There is a setting that I could theoretically use when departing and when returning home. The setting requires: touch Settings, touch General, touch Accessibility, scroll down, touch Call Audio Routing, and touch either Automatic (when leaving home), or Speaker (when returning).  That is not only too onerous, but I'm likely to forget to do it anyway.
Am I overlooking a way to answer with speaker on? If not, wouldn't it be easy enough for Apple to put an appropriate button to do this on the incoming-call screen?

Thank you for the info and links. I never actually read anything from Apple about Hebrew not being supported. Since I was able to use other languages, of seemingly greater complexity, I assumed that Hebrew would work. The patch I was speaking of (that makes Hebrew song titles, etc readable) is actually not a hack. It was developed by a student in an Israeli university and purchased by Apples regional distributor (Yeda Inc., Apple's Israeli distributor). The software is called iPodHE.
If you would like to read more about this:

I did read somewhere that they are working with Apple to resolve a conflict with the latest version of iTunes and iPodHE v2.0.
Maybe this will be useful to someone.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • C3-00 answering calls only with headset

    Hi,
I don't know what happens, but know I only can answer calls with the headset on.  Eventhough headset is not plug, the phone acts like if it was.  The headset icon always appears in the screen.  I just tried to restart the phone.  I took the battery off and when the phone restart the icon is not there, as soon as I plug the headset, the icon appears and it continues there til I turn off the phone and start everything again.
If somebody know how to fix this up, pls let me know.
    Thank you.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sounds like your device is not working like it should. Try restoring factory settings by typing *#7780*. This will boot the SW, but will not delete any files from the phone. But just make it sure I advice making a back up with Ovi suite > Tools > Back up.
You can also try to reinstall the SW with Ovi suite > Software update > reinstall SW.
If the issue still persist, try to format phone with the code *#7370#. This will erase the phone memory, so make a back up first!
The last option unfortunately is to take it to the nearest Nokia Care point.
If the answer solves your issue, please click the ACCEPT AS SOLUTION button so other users can benefit from it as well. Giving a kudos (the white star) if my answer has helped will be appreciated.

  • Accept call with keyboard

On a Q10 I need to answer calls with at least one key not with a touch gesture. How can I do this?

Problem with the gesture? Hmmm... let me think:
    1. I have 35 physical keys yet I have to swipe to accept/reject a call;
    2. Touch display is sensitive to moisture, sweat, dirt - sometimes - I can't accept/reject a call with wet hands (or gloves). No summer/winter use for me;
    3. Key press = action with feedback in one step (you know, that's why I have Q10 instead of Z10), while gesture means several steps: check call, swipe, swipe again, rub you hand with your shirt, swipe again, swear, swipe, exhale, call and explain that the phone was out of reach. Ok, not every time, just, annoyingly, that several times when it matters;
    4. Basic functionality of a phone should be to call, answer and reject connections in the easiest, most ergonomically way - this is not the case. It looks like a modem card plugged into a PC and with a full keyboard you still have to use software buttons to make it work.
    5. Ok, it is so cool to swipe but, please, preserve the traditional functionality of a keyboard. While I was typing this message I struggled a lot with selecting text for eliminate misspelled words, while a trackpad would have been more appropriate for this.
    6. Should I extend this to Speed dial issue?

  • Cannot answer calls using touch-screen

I am using G900, it is a touch-screen phone, I am unable to answer calls using the touch-screen option.
    1) Is there any update required for the software for the same to work.
    2) Can I change the settings in the mobile to answer calls using some key on the keypad.
    Thanks
You can email me your replies on [email protected]

One question, does the touchscreen works on everything else?

  • Since I upgraded to IOS 7.0.2, many times I am unable to answer the calls. Then I have to switch off and on to answer the calls. I checked with my three friends who updated and they are also facing same problem. Kindly let me know the solution.

Since other millions of people updated and do not have that problem - it means one of two.
1.Your friends lied to you and do not have that problem and in that case only your installation of ios7 got corrupted and you need to restore your phone.
2.Your friends didn't lie to you and all 4 of you need to restore phones (that way reinstalling ios 7 properly)
here are instructions for restore and you may have to backup before restore.

  • 7920 Unable to answer with two inbound calls ringing

I have a CME customer reporting that when their 7920s have two inbound calls ringing at the same time they are unable to answer either call.
The 7920s are a shared extension, on Dual Line DNs, with their desktop phones.
CME is 4.0(2), and the 7920 phone load is 4.0-03-00.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any idea what might cause it?
    Thanks,
    Mike

What type of ap are you using? Controller or autonomous?
If controller is pre-4.0.217.0 version then would want to set the 802.1p tag for the platinum QoS profile to 7 vs 6 or upgrade to 4.0.217.0.
Also would advise to upgrade the 7920 to 03-02.

  • TS4079 Siri used to work fine when making mobile calls in Ecuador until yesterday, when the administration of Ecuador added an aditional number in all mobile numbers existing in Ecuador. Since then Siri is unable to make any mobile calls with any new numb

Siri used to work fine when making mobile calls in Ecuador until yesterday, when the administration of Ecuador added an aditional number in all mobile numbers existing in Ecuador. Since then Siri is unable to make any mobile calls with any new number.Help
I`ve tried restarting, rebooting, nothing works.
The interesting thing is that SIRI can call to previous mobile numbers (without the new digit) obviously not connecting , and, can call to any other numbers as an office or home number. So the problem is the new digit in the mobile number

Ecuador has added an extra digit to mobile phone numbers but apple wont accept 10 digit phone numbers so we cant use facetime or apple IM or verify our new phone numbers. ( and Siri won't work either!) I have contacted apple support online but can't request a call back as the apple system says our new phone numbers are invalid. I am going to phone them tomorrow and you should complain too at http://www.apple.com/support/contact/.  . The more people that bring this to their attention the faster it will get fixed

    Help Please

I think this could be a prompt from the Flash Player plugin. To adjust your microphone and camera permissions for Flash, you can use the following page:

    * Site-specific settings: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html

    Does that fix it?
