Please advice.
Hi,
It's an information provided by one of the ARCH process (If you have configured more than one process then during the archiving might other process could not able to get the things to archive the log currently). That might be issue and information is logged in alert log. I think it won't not hurt your database you can monitor further in case of any other information or crutials errors.

ARC1: Unable to archive log 2 thread 1 sequence 28344
Hi
We have recently faced a situation that "Can not get Database Connection" when user was trying to connect through Informatica Power Analyzer. I also checked a alert.log file.I found following error in log file
"ARC1: Unable to archive log 2 thread 1 sequence 28344".
Can you please give me a solution to this because there is no ORA error inside alert.log file.
Give me exact steps to resolve this if it is applicable to database.
Thanks.

Solution :- Archive log may be stuck. Check disk space .
start it manually with following command
alter system archivelog start;
or
alter system archivlog to '/abac/dir';

ARC0: Evaluating archive "Log actively being archived by another process"
Hi,
I have this messages many times on my alert log file:
"ARC0: Evaluating archive log 2 thread 1 sequence 100
ARC0: Unable to archive log 2 thread 1 sequence 100
Log actively being archived by another process"
But i'm not doing any remote archive on this database.
I'm not having any problem on this database, i just want to know why these messages is happening if i don't have remote archive configured on my enviroment??
Do you think that this parameter bellow will stop these messages?
LOG_ARCHIVE_CALLOUT='LOCAL_FIRST=TRUE'
Tks,
PauloYou have multiple archivers.
As archivers poll for redolog files, you get this message.
Arc0 is already archiving, but arc1 will still poll for this archive.
At least this holds true in 9i.

Hi
I am restoring a hot backup taken through RMAN using following commands:
configure controlfile autobackup on;
BACKUP DATABASE ;
BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE INPUT;
Now I am going to restore that using following commands:
restore spfile from autobackup;
restore controlfile from autobackup;
shutdown immediate;
startup mount;
restore database;
RECOVER DATABASE;
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
But it goes fine till restore database. At recover database I get following errors:

HabibThey way you are trying to recover will try to recover up to the last know SCN. Try to do a point in time recover up to a few minutes before the database was shutdown or crashed.
Try something like this
run{
set until time "to_date('2013-09-11:00:00:00', 'yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss')";
restore spfile from autobackup;
restore controlfile from autobackup;

startup mount;
restore database;
RECOVER DATABASE;
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS; -

Unable to tranfer the Archive log to DR Setup
Hi All ,
Out Database Team reports that unable to transfer the archive log from Production database server to DR database Server.
For example, while transferring 70 MB of file, the connection is getting aborted after transferring 11 MB.
We confirm from the network team, that there is no issue with router or PIX.
Please provide the suggestion.

R. Rajesh Kannan.Hi,
You can sending few files of different sizes eg 10MB,20MB,30MB.....
and you will know the problem is from the SIZE of the file or something else.

Have i missed any archive log in Standby setup?, im unable to find
Dear All,
I setup standby in Oracle10g.
In my Primary the archive log list shows as
primary>archive log list;
Database log mode Archive Mode
Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination D:\STANDBY\Archive
Oldest online log sequence 30
Next log sequence to archive 32
Current log sequence 32
In my standby the archive log list shows as
standby>archive log list;
Database log mode Archive Mode
Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination C:\PRIMARY\Archive
Oldest online log sequence 31
Next log sequence to archive 0
Current log sequence 32
Have i missed any archive log file?
But in my archive location of the primary i found the archive files from ARC00002_0633898426.001,ARC00003_0633898426.001 to ARC00031_0633898426.001
and in my archive location of the standby i found the archive files from
ARC00002_0633898426.001,ARC00003_0633898426.001 to ARC00031_0633898426.001 and one more extra archive file ARC00032_0633898426.001.
I am getting confused from where i got the archive file ARC00032_0633898426.001 in standby only which is not in primary?
Please clarify this...Please let me know abiut the above issue, i will be thankful to you.

Archive Logs NOT APPLIED but transferred
Hi Gurus,
I have configured Primary & Standby databases in same Oracle Home. OS version is OEL 5. Database version is 10.2.0.1. I could get the archive logs in the standby site but they are not getting applied in the standby database. I don't have OLAP installed in my database version. Would this create this issue? However I attached my primary alert log details below for your reference:

Mahir: Yes I have my 4 standby redo logs!
I created the standby manually without using RMAN.
Hemant: if it asks for even first thread, then obviously it shows nothing is applied on Standby. By the way so it is not called a 'GAP', I think..!
Thanks. -
How to recover the database when some of the archive log file get deleted.
I am facing a problem with Oracle database, which is related to archivelogs.
Our development database is running in archivelog mode, but we don't have backups scheduled and have no recovery catalog.
When the database was in running condition, disk got full, so some archivelogs were deleted manually.
After this they restarted the DB, and now DB is not coming up. Errors are as follows:

1. How to recover the database and bring it online
Any help will be highly appreciated.
With Regards
Hemant Joshi
Edited by: hem_Kec on Sep 7, 2008 9:07 AMHi,
Archive log files are the copies of redolog files.As redo log files are circularly overwritten,oracle generates archive log file of the corresponding redo logfiles being overwritten.So if you have a backup that dates back to 10 am in the morning and if your database creashed at 3 pm,you cannot use the redo log files alone as they have incomplete information.To completely recover the database upto 3 pm,you need archive log files generated between 10 am to 3 pm. In your case since you are missing one archive log file,you cannot perform complete recovery and hence would suffer data loss. -
Archive logs are missing in hot backup
Hi All,
We are using the following commands to take hot backup of our database. Hot backup is fired by "backup" user on Linux system.
=======================
rman target / nocatalog <<EOF
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '$backup_dir/$date/%F';
run {
allocate channel oem_backup_disk1 type disk format '$backup_dir/$date/%U';
#--Switch archive logs for all threads
sql 'alter system archive log current';
backup as COMPRESSED BACKUPSET database include current controlfile;
#--Switch archive logs for all threads
sql 'alter system archive log current';
#--Backup Archive logs and delete what we've backedup
backup as COMPRESSED BACKUPSET archivelog all not backed up delete all input;
release channel oem_backup_disk1;
allocate channel for maintenance type disk;
delete noprompt obsolete device type disk;
release channel;
exit
EOF
=======================
Due to which after command (used 2 times) "sql 'alter system archive log current';" I see the following lines in alert log 2 times. Because of this all the online logs are not getting archived (Missing 2 logs per day), the backup taken is unusable when restoring. I am worried about this. I there any to avoid this situation.
