Unable to backup my iPhone 5c in Itunes

hello,
I keep getting an error mgs when i connect my USB into my iphone and laptop. The mgs says that its unable to backup iPhone because my computer is not authorized for itunes purchases. does anyone know what that means???? HELP!!!

That means exactly what it says. Your computer is not Authorized to the Apple ID account that the content was purchased with. If your iTunes is logged in to an Apple ID you must log out, then log in using the same Apple ID that the content was purchased with. Then go to the Store menu and choose Authorize.

I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.

Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
    Any other suggestion?

    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP:  \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:  \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
Delete the entire Backup folder if there is anything at all in it.

  • HT5262 I am trying to backup my iPhone 4 but iTunes says it is unable to complete backup because the device has been disconnected (but it hasn't). Any suggestions?

I cannot backup my iPhone 4 to iTunes because it says the device has been disconnected during "Step 5" (syncing purchases) but my phone is still connected. iTunes is up to date, I don't want to install iOS 6.0.1 until I backup my phone (when I installed iOS 6, I lost everything and had to restore to previous backup. Would hate to not have a more current backup and lose everything again). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and still the same problem. Please help!

You have to delete the corrupt back-up so iTunes can at least back-up the current data on the iPhone and then restore it. Search these forums, there a several good posts on how to delete the corrupt back-up.

No sorry. You need to upgrade to v10.5 Leopard (minimum) in order to sync an iPhone 4.
    iPhone minimum requirements:
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
    iTunes 10.1 or later
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
You can upgrade to Leopard if your Mac meets v10.5 requirements.

Hi all, I can't manually backup my iPhone 5 using iTunes to my Windows PC & this iTunes error message appears: "iTunes could not backup the iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone".
May I know how to solve it in order to backup my iPhone like previous? Thank you!!

  • Urgent - Unable to find last backup for iPhone 4 in iTunes

    Hello,
I would be grateful if someone could please help me urgently.
Earlier this week I made a backup of my iPhone 4 in iTunes.  In actual fact I did this several times in order to make sure that the backup was saved.  I have since upgraded iOS to 5.1.1 which for some reason also required me to use the restore function as the phone wouldn't start after the upgrade.
My problem now is that I cannot find the backup made in iTunes, even though there is a folder with correct modified date within the iTunes backup folder.  What complicates things even more is that within this folder there seem to be files for two backups, the one made earlier this week and one which was made last year.
I have of course kept a copy of the full iTunes folder from before I did the upgrade, but I am now unable to recover the backup even after deleting the files for the older version.  If I leave only the files with a modification date from earlier this week, I choose does find the backup but marks it as unknown and will not use it to restore the phone.
I would be grateful if anyone could suggest a way around this.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, sinking my iPad and then trying to reconnect my iPhone (this has worked in the past to resolve the issue of the backup not showing up) all to no avail.  The only data I desperately need other text messages and notes, all other important data is backed up to iCloud.  I'm not worried about individual applications as these can be downloaded over time as needed.  Incidentally, if it is of any help the size of the folder which contains what I think is the backup from earlier this week after deleting all older files is 79 MB.
Thank you sincerely in advance for any help at all.
All the best for now and take care.
    Hussein.

  • IHow to backup my iPhone 4S with Itunes 9

I'm an old guy and fairly inexperienced with my iPhone 4S. How can I backup my iPone 4S in iTunes 9? When I click File, there isno "Devices" listed in the drop-down. Thanks

Chris, thanks for your interest. My PC is XP Pro. As I was installing, the iTunes setup prompted me to close Outlook.
I have IOS 6 on my 4S so I will look into setting up iCloud. However, I do not have wifi at home so I'm hitting roadblocks at every turn. iCloud requires a wifi connection, is that correct?
    Thanks again, John

  • I just got an iPhone 5s but now am unable to backup my 4s before switching phones. I have tried 2 different computers and both give me an error message saying simply "iTunes is unable to backup this iPhone as an error has occurred."

  • Can't backup my iPhone 5 in iTunes 11.1.1

Yesterday I tried to connect my iPhone 5 (IOS 6.1.4) to create a backup and to upgrade to the latest IOS version (7.0.2).
I connected to iTunes via the usb cable and iTunes started up showing the choices as below:
    - configure as a new iPhone
    - restore a previous backup.
But no way to create a new backup !? How to solve this ? I restarted my Mac, iPhone and iTunes, but no help..
I still don't get the choice to create a new backup (it usually starts automatically after connecting my iPhone to iTunes.
However after a while, I'm getting a popup within iTunes that a new version (7.02) is available for downloading....
But before creating a fresh backup I won't even think about downloading that version..
Who can help me out ?
    Niek

Go ahead and choose 'Set up as new phone.'
This won't change anything, but will allow you to proceed to your normal device settings display. It's just a new phone in iTunes book.

  • I can't backup my iPhone 5 to iTunes... it starts but won't complete. Please help!

I have the new iPhone 5 with the latest software, and iTunes latest version.
When I try to backup my phone via iTunes, the backup starts, and the progress bar begins to move and then gets stuck at the end. I have waited a long time but it doesn't go any further. I then have to skip the backup in order to Synch.
On iTunes, it says the latest backup is: Unknown. I only have a backup of my last phone before I changed the handset. Very annoying!
I have repeatedly tried to backup and sometimes the progress bar gets almost to the end, but no, it stops. Very frustrating.
The phone synchs OK, but have to skip/cancel backup in order to get to the synch phase.
I tried to restore the phone and start again (restored to the previous backup some time ago, before the new handset) but no, doesn't work.
    Please help!
    Thanks

  • I get an error when trying to backup my Iphone 6 in itunes to my computer?

IOS 8. 02, iPhone 6.  My device will not backup in itunes to my computer.  I successfully backed up before updating to IOS 8.02.  Now I get an error saying iphone was not backed up because itunes could not back up to this computer.  I have over 300 GB of free hard drive space so that is not the issue.  I have removed older backups. Any suggestions?
