Unable to begin using ipad 2
I was very excited to begin using my iPad 2. I connected to iTunes and nothing happens, no on-screen instructions to follow. My iTunes is 9.2.1 and I have Mac OS X (10.4.11). Is it because my software is too old? I tried downloading the newer version of iTunes but wasn't able to install. How do I get my iPad up and running? Do I have to pay for any newer versions...I sure hope not.

If your Mac is Intel based (approx 4-5 years old) you should be able to run Snow Leopard, which you can purchase from the Apple Online Store for AUD$169.
If it is PowerPC based (G4/G5) then you would only be able to run Leopard. You can purchase this from AppleCare for approximately AUD$158

What router are you using? make/model/version
What security type are you using? If it is WEP then symbolic (non hex) keys may be converted to hex in different ways by different operating systems. Is your laptop a Windows PC?
If you are using WEP then drop it and move to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be hacked in seconds). -
Using iPad. Having trouble with settings and trying to update. When I click settings, then general, I do not get the option to update software. Need to update iOS from 4.1 to 6. Also unable to purchase iBooks. Thanks much
Settings>General>Software Update is only available in IOS 5 and above.
If you are using IOS 4, you need to connect to iTune (computer) to update software.

I have 3 Dell laptops at home and I am unable to connect my iPad 1 to any of them using the USB cable. If I connect the iPad to any Apple computer using the same USB cable, it works perfectly. I have installed the latest versions of iTunes and iOS, but still no luck. Apple Store Geniuses helped me determine that it wasn't my iPad causing the problem, but were less helpful when it came to dealing with non-Apple devices.
Options?Does the OS see the iPad at all? In other words does it show up in either the My Computer or Device Manager?
I've had problems in the past where I had to modify the registry to get my son's iPod to sync with a particular HP laptop.
If it doesn't show up at all have your tried using an external hub (with or without power)? -

You can see data usage in the iPad in Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Usage. In addition, many mobile operators have their own applications that allow you to check on your mobile data usage. You should investigate. -

After the restore did the phone work properly for a while? Say, a day or so?
If so it is possible you have an app that doesn't let go of memory properly. I reboot my iPhone ( hold sleep/wake and hole till you see the apple logo) every few days. This resets the memory. The iPhone OS has doesn't seem to mange memory very well yet. So a reboot will help with that. I have had my phone almost slow to a stop before I started rebooting. Always reboot after installing a new app. Also do you close all pages in Safari when you are done? This is a good practice. Safari will run in the background and use processor time and drain your battery quicker. Create a new blank page then close all others when you are done browsing for a while. I have also found that certain web site that have animated images like weather maps will turn the phone into molasses. As soon as i close that page it gets faster.
If all of the above have no effect then as Tamara said it is time for a trip to the Genius bar.

Settings, general, erase all content and settings.
if the person has iOS7 on that device and it's activation locked then you'll need the apple ID of the previous owner to fully wipe it. So if you can't wipe it you'll need that previous owner to give you their apple ID or to unlock it for you.
If you can't contact them or if they can't unlock it, try to get your money back because without that info you can't fully erase that ipad, and it's unfortunately possible that the device they sold you wasn't theirs to sell. -

first off , from the wired computer access the router using http://192.168.1.1 .. check the firmware version .. go to www.linksys.com/download and check the latest firmware available...if the router does not have the latest firmware , upgrade it first. .. after the firmware upgrade , reset and reconfigure the router
if the router has the latest firmware , then reset the router for 30 seconds .. do a power cycle...access the router ui ..default password is admin..click on the "mac add clone" subtab , enable it and click clone....save the settings and do a power cycle..ensure that the wired computer is online
on the router web ui , click on the wireless tab ..change the ssid - any non-linksys name , channel - 11 , security mode - wpa , beacon interval - 50 , fragmentation threshold - 2306 , RTS threshold - 2307 ..

I meant by "not compatible" that all the solutions that I found on the web did not work, especially the "Microsoft exchange" one.
Fortunately I found on the comments of the first website you mentioned the right answer for me, which I copy below:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.

Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.

Might you have a newly acquired iPad that is still locked to someone else's Apple ID? If that is the case, then you will need the former owner's Apple ID and password to proceed. That feature is called Activation Lock and described here:
