Unable to boot Compaq Presario CQ40-340TU

Hi I have a Compaq Presario CQ40-340TU laptop. My problem is that I can't boot. I already change the harddisk since there are bad sector. Then when I connect my new hard disk, the laptop can not detect it, so i try connecting the new hardisk on my desktop, and installed Vista for the OS. When I return the new harddisk with installed Vista OS, I still can't boot the laptop.
I also try to boot the new hard disk in my desktop,it works fine. So i think there's some problem on my laptop?
Anybody know what seems to be the problem? Please help

check whether the HDD is dtected in the BIOS or not ! do that by tapping F10 while the NB boots...if the hdd is not detected then u need to get another hdd....if the hdd is detected then run the self test.....if no error comes then take the NB along with the HDD and ask for the compatibility at the store...

Sound Problem in Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU

I've Transcend 2GB DDR2 667 memory and put it in my laptop (Compaq Presario CQ40-108tu). It read the whole 4GB memory coz I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit but it doesn't have an audio. I've try to troubleshoot it, first try it with only 2GB memory and it does have audio. Then i try it with 3GB memory and it has a audio. Then i try switch the other 2gb memory and repeated what I've done and it does have an Audio. Then i've try again with 4GB but it really doesn't have audio/sound.
If you know the how to fix this problem please help me...thx

My Compaq presario CQ40 battery

Sir,
I got a Compaq presario CQ40 notebook. My battery displays ....plugged in, not charging....I guess reason is that my battery has dried up....so i would like to ask that is it a safe using that battery for few days .....or it has chances to explode.......its urgent . also i would like to know the price of replacement of new battery.

If your power adapter is rated for 90Watts, then my next thought would be to try a different 12 cell battery from a different manufacturer. Most (if not all...) newer batteries have a small chip inside that relays information back to the charging circuit in your laptop. This is what "tells" your laptop charging percentage of the battery, battery status and how much to charge it. Either the new battery has a defective chip, or it's missing... At least thats what it sounds like to me.
You should have some type of guarantee from the website if battery is DOA from the start.

Compaq Presario cq40-625TU screen fading to blue when opens on full lid

Today when I open up my laptop's screen starts fading at full angle. But alfter little closing the lid every thing is fine. Again opening the screen lid at full. It again starts fading with blue color. What's that problem .

Compaq Presario CQ40-106TU Strange noise

hi every HP products owners,
I’ve bought Compaq Presario CQ40-106TU notebook 3 weeks ago, till now, when I play music or movies, every 5~6 minutes I hear a short distorted noise thru earphone or speakers.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled sound driver. I have fully recovered my notebook, but this issue is still persisting.
When it is mute or I don’t play music or movie there is no noise. in case of all kind of music or movies, online, radio, playing by all kind of media player same as windows media player, jet Audio, winamp, i have this problem.
the notebook has a IDT High Definition Audio CODEC sound system. in sound card property it is mentioned that sound system works properly, but this problem really makes me mad.
The noise sometimes interrupts the music for an instant.
What can I do? Is it hardware problem?
I appreciate anykind of help or instructions.

Thanks for your kind attention, I have sent my lap top to HP repair center and now it's working properly. it was a hardware issue.

Compaq Presario CQ40-327TU Notebook PC Display problem

My product is Compaq Presario CQ40-327TU Notebook PC originally with Windows XP edition. Recently I installed Windows 7 in my laptop from USB pen drive. Installation went fine, but it does not ask for C drive format. I installed in the C drive where Windows XP installed previously . After installation of my laptop working fine. Some times the screen goes blank (black) and come back after few minutes and in notification area it shows "Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows 7 (R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." like that I am getting a notification. In my system information, I checked it shows Windows 7 in OS. It happens only when I toggle to different windows or applications. I checked display adapters in device manager and it shows "Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)" . When I tried to update display adapter it showed already uptodate. Can I expect some solution for my problem here. Also after OS installed I found Windows.old folder in C drive. Can I removed that folder?

It appears that your computer meets the minimum requirement for installing Windows 7. Please download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to confirm this before attempting to install Windows 7.
Based on the specs for your Compaq Presario CQ40-327TU Notebook, this model shipped from the factory with Windows Vista installed. Here is the Compaq Presario CQ40-327TU Notebook PC Drivers page for your computer. HP has provided only Windows Vista drivers for your computer.
You should be using the current BIOS version before upgrading to Windows 7.

Compaq Presario CQ40-340 TU battery problem

I had a battery problem it says, consider replacing your battery. And it sucks, it already ended the warranty.
it was i think 1 year and 1 month when my battery had this problem. It charge a little bit after 30 sec to 1 min my laptop turns off. Its unusual i think my battery only last a year. is there latest battery recall on Compaq Presario batteries?

Compaq Presario CQ40-406AU Keyboad Replacement Issue!

I have the service manual for CQ40 but its definetely not the exactly same model because lots of things are different between the manual and my laptop. I have unscrewed and removed everything at the bottom ( besides WLAN and RAM modules ) but the keyboard/keyboard cover won't come off. I tried lifting the keyboard upwards alone and it didn't help, then I went to remove the cover and it won't move either. I tried lifting it with hand, moving it in forward direction to try to get it to disattach from any locks and nothing helps.
Any ideas how to remove the keyboard/keyboard cover from this laptop? Could really use some help right now!

Failure in Flashing the BIOS of Compaq Presario CQ40-109TU

Good day to all.
I am upgrading my Compaq laptop from its default Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit. My laptop model is CQ40-109TU.
I freshly install the Windows 7 and download all the recommended drivers and softwares from HP/Compaq site for my laptop model with Windows 7 32-Bit.
After finishing the installation of Windows 7, Avira Antivirus and Windows Updates, my laptop starts up successfully. But after I install the recommended BIOS version F.55 A (sp45765.exe), my laptop hangs at start up when Compaq logo is displayed, and it does not respond in any keys I press (like Esc, F8, F12, etc.) to view the BIOS configuration. It only beeps after pressing a key several times.
Also, I notice that my laptop does not charging too after the laptop restart. The LED on AC adapter has light, but the light where the adapter connects to my laptop is off. But there is a blinking light in the thunder icon while the charger is connected to my laptop. So, the charger is okay and supplies electricity to my laptop. But why the light, that indicates the laptop is charging, is off? Currently, the battery is drained already.
My laptop's previous and working version of BIOS is F.12, and I have no backup for that.
I run the BIOS setup (sp45765.exe) just by clicking the file in Windows-mode not in DOS-mode, just what was said in the directions. I think, power interruption is not the cause of the problem because the charger or AC adapter is properly connected and the battery is fully charged during the upgrade.
What happen to my laptop? Do I miss something during my installation process, or the BIOS version F.55 A does not really compatible to my laptop? Is there any workaround for this problem? How can I restore my previous BIOS version F.12?
I am very hopeless, and I don't know what to do. Please help me.

i am using cq40-142tu and I am downgrading it from Vista to Windows XP Service Pack 3, got everything working except the audio (IDT High Definition Audio Codec).i installed UAA and it work fine, Unfortunately, IDT Def Audio gone after rebooting. can anyone help??

hi, my laptop just sent to hp service center to maintain few weeks ago.. coz of laptop cannot on...
now i'm facing another problem after laptop has been sent back to me that the audio sound was disappear automatically...
starting is just need to restart the laptop then sound will come back... but this time even getting few times restart... still didn't have sound..
at control panel audio sound.. it's just write that "no audio sound"..
device manager i have check there is no miss driver for audio sound.
i have try to install the software from the support driver... cannot install and ERROR..
Another things i found out that.. the laptop is using for conenxant audio sound.. when the laptop didnt have any sound.. the control panel and device manager din have conenxant audio sound device... seems like the software was disappear...
i have post the same problem.. but din have any reply...
our problem is same... now no more sound pop out again even after few times to restart the windows....

Battery charging problem in compaq presario cq40-330tu

My laptop battery is charging only 1-2 mins after that ac adapter stops and laptop totally runs on battery but when I remove the battery and run laptop only using the ac adapter it runs well and battery is also new can anyone please solve this problem?????

Flashing LEDs No Boot Presario CQ40

I have a Compaq Presario CQ40-107AU that will not boot. After pressing the power button, the fan starts running and nothing happens for several seconds. After approximately 20 seconds the LEDs above Scroll Lock and next to Caps Lock blink continously.
I found explinations of the blink codes somewhere online and found that the code was supposed to mean low power from the power adapter. I purchased a new (non-OEM) adapter and have the same issue. I tried a hard reset (removed the battery, disconnected power adapter and held the power button) doing this did not resolve the issue.
I am going to pop the case open tonight and verify all connections and visually inspect the solder and board where the power adapter mates to the notebook and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me. I am unable to find this paticular model listed in any of the support areas on HP's support site.

Hi, i just experience the same symptom (CQ40). I tried to solve by myself by following the document, but it doesn't mention about continuous blinking at CapsLock & Num Lock. I also check my output adapter voltage, no wrong about it (18.5V). Memory card and hardisk drive also fit properly. Then, i tried to reset my bios by take out the bios battery, still not help. The pcb condition include pattern and components by visual check all ok, no sign of burn. Is there any meaning for continuous blinking at CapsLock & NumLock? Please help me... Thank you.
