Unable to boot into setup/safe/recovery mode....please help

About to bin this imac I have (trying to fix this for someone at my work place) as I'm seriously wasting time....
Usual issue: Users do not know any of the passwords for the accounts on this machine.
Machine: iMac (circa 2010/2011)
OS: 10.5.8
Build: 9L31a
S/N: YM8300VLZE4
What I have tried:
Switching on, holding shift key (nothing happens - just loads to normal login screen)
Switching on, holding cmd+s (nothing happens - just loads to normal login screen)
Switching on, holding alt/option key (nothing happens - just loads to normal login screen
I have tried the above with holding the keys down when switched on, as soon as the chime starts, with releasing the keys when I see the apple logo, releasing the keys when I see apple logo then spinny thing.....
Same thing happesn - NOTHING.....Just goes straight to the usual login screen......
I don't have a CD on me and I'm mega frustrated
Cancel the above.....Apple keyboard bust - the cmd keys not working.....I suspect this is the frustration of many thousands of users too...
Just clag in a standard windows keyboard and hold down windows key +s to get to single user mode.....

Hi I had perches one iphone4 from Hong Kong last month but after coming back i try to restore my iphone but it's give error 3194 then i try to restore it in recovery mode but still can not restore error -1 and now i cannot get out of recovery mode please help me to shovel this problem.
Are you running modified software on your phone? This error seems to be common if the firmware has been modified and you're trying to restore the phone again.

Error 1 or -1 indicates a serious hardware issue.
Take the device to Apple or whomever provides hardware support in your country for evaluation and likely replacement. -
Unable to boot into Rescue and Recovery environnement
Hi everyone!
I had my PC with windows XP factory installed. I migrated to Windows Vista. I didn't take the time to read the appropriate way to migrate and now I'm having big issues with all the ThinkVantage suite. So what I want to do is re-image my PC. I can see that the RnR partition (EISA Configuration partition is still there. (I've seen it in the Computer Management Console).
Now, when I press the ThinkVantage button when my pc Boots, it only gives me the choice to either go in the BIOS, or select the boot drive. Of course, the RnR partition doesn't appear in my list! I'm kind of stuck here. I went on lenonvo's website, and there is a tool that will create a recovery diskette, but my laptop doesn't have a diskette reader... plus the application is written in 16 bits... so there's no way I can read it under Windows Vista.
Anyone has an idea on how I could get my comptuer to boot into RnR so that I can re-image my pc?

first I would like to explain one thing, so that we are on the same page with the RnR partition.
Vista and XP are using different RnR partitions and the location of these aprtitions is placed on the HDD is different way, so that it can be used in conjuction with your Operating system.
So in the time, where you have used the XP and OS, the RnR partition was placed in the partition table on the end/back. DIrectly after you upgraded to the Vista and did not made any changes to the RnR partition, than it is still on the end/back, which is not the corect way. Becase the Vista should use the RnR partition, that should be placed on the begind/start/in the front of all the other partitions.
So in case there was no change made to the RnR partition, like relocation, or reinstall using the Vista RnR version, then you will not be able to boot into it.
So here is what I would advice you to do:
- reinstall, or download and install the Vista version of RnR (the latest version) => this will rewrite the partition table and in case of need it will create the RnR partition.
- use bmgr32.exe , which is located on your HDD by default to rewrite the partition table. Please start it from command line in follwing way:
bmgr32.exe /phil
==> this will bring you all the command line options and you can use it based on this.
NOTE:
Plase note, that once you captured some backups using the XP version of RnR , or a different version of RnR, then it's not possible to restor the backups using a different version.
Simple: you must use the exact same version of RnR for backup and also for the restore process.

IPod Stuck in Recovery Mode Please help!

I have a an iPod touch 2g which I turned off one day and it never turned on again. I plugged it into iTunes and it shows the iPod in the main window with the restore button and the check for update screen. Before I have a chance to press anything, a window pops up saying, iTunes ha detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore your iPod before you can use it again. When I click OK the iPod ejects so I cannot restore it. Every time it does this. Ive tried everything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bought new ipad a day ago did a software update stuck in recovery mode please help!!!
Hello, a day ago i purchased and ipad 2. the next day i got a message that poped up and said software update. So i clicked on update software and then it went into recovery mode. So then i went too my computer that has the newest update of itunes and is fully updated. Then i connected the ipad too the itunes and then i clicked on restore and update. I waited about 5 hours for the updated too finish then when it finnaly did itunes started too extract the update too the ipad. But then it stopped and it would not work any more. It was stuck in recovery mode i tryed every thing too get it out i pressed the home and start button and still nothing happened. please help me

After playing with it a bit more and holding down my home button I got the phone to restore. But now, it won't power back on unless plugged into the charger. well, i would say try using the application tinyumbrella to bring it out of recovery mode, but if itunes wont restore it i dont know if any app will. but its worth a try.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

I'm using iPod touch for a year now. It was doing fine this morning but in the afternoon suddenly when I took it out of my bag, the screen was just black and it wouldn't turn on and stuff. So I thought it didn't have battery so I charged it didn't work. I plugged to the computer and it said iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before in can be used with iTunes.
Maybe my bag was little wet today but i don't think that is why.. since it wasn't that bed.. just some paper was wet and stuff..

The only way to get out of recovery mode is do to the full restore If you can't update or restore your iOS device
After it is done, you can use your iTunes or icloud backup to restore from. -

my itunes tells me my ipod is in recovery mode and i need to restore it. when i restore it it gives me the same message. ive tried trestoring it numerous times. i dont know what to do. im an ipod junkie, and ive been without my ipod for at least 6 months now.
Make an appointment and take the iPod to your nearest Apple store now, if it's still under warranty.
This is important; did you or did you not save you downloads and do a full remove or re-install of iTunes?
If it's not then matters can get drastic (and expensive) so check that out first.

Up until last week, I have had no problems with my iPod 30gb, but last week it wouldn't turn off. I tried all the five Rs suggested by Apple and updated my iTunes, and none of them worked. Now when I connect my iPod it says that iTunes has located an iPod in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored. So I clicked on restore and it deleted all my music and pictures, and then I got the message about it being in recovery mode and needing to be restored ... and again ... and again.
