Unable to boot Win 7 after cleaning factory installed Win 8.1_shuts down at preparing desktop

I had factory installed Win 8.1 on my HP P 206TX laptop but I wanted to install some software which does not support any OS above Win 7, so I wanted to remove this.
I did the following process:-
1. Created Win 8.1 recovery media(DVD) for future usage.
2. BIOS setting:-
   a. Secure boot - Disabled
   b. Legacy boot - Enabled
3. Cleaned hard disk through DISKPART
4. Converted GPT to MBR
5. Installed Win 7 Ultimate 64bit (DVD).......almost done till preparing desktop....
Then just during preparing desktop, system logged off, shut down and restarted....
But the restart does not boot windows at all.
It only shows "press ESC for startup menu" and then restarts again with the same process repeating again & again.
I have tried Repair through Win 7 DVD but it shows "this version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows".
Please help as I am unable to find any solution anywhere on the internet.
I hope HP can help me...PLEASE

Hi
According to your machines support pages on HP website, Windows 7 drivers are not available for your machine this is more than likely the issue you are having . If you want to run software through Windows 8.1 that is not compatible for Windows 8.1 you can always run a Virtual box and install Windows 7 to Virtual box and run software via there..
Google search Virtual box --- download and install then install your ISO image of Windows 7 and go from there..

  • Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in after an upgrade install fix does not work?

    Hello:
After running Software Update, I am unable to log in.
I found the following support article:
Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in after an upgrade install
    Article: TS1543
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1543?viewlocale=en_US
However, upon step 8 of the instructions, the following error appears:
    delete Invalid Path
    <dscl_cmd> DS Error: -14009 (eUnknownNodeName)
This is actually after an update (not an "upgrade"), so I'm not even sure these are the appropriate steps.
This is the second time that I have been unable to log in after an update. The first time, I attempted to reset the password with the installation DVD; however, this resulted in "No LDAP Master" errors and I installed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Server on a second internal drive and configured everything again. After setting everything up on the second install, I was going to reformat the first boot drive. Unfortunately, I'm just back to where I started after running the updates. I'm not sure if having two volumes with Mac OS X Server installed makes a difference in the instructions in the article mentioned above or not.
Another question: Is resetting the password with the installer DVD the same as using the Single User approach ("launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist", "ls /Users", then "dscl . -delete /Users/username AuthenticationAuthority")?
If so, I'll just do that; however, I am hoping that the Single User approach might somehow avoid "No LDAP Master" errors again.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • ThinkVantage 4.0 fail after clean Win7 install

Downloaded Thinkvantage 4.0 system update after clean Win7 install on my T500 2081 CTO. Programme did not attach to my ThinkVantage Blue Button and did not even work when I started it from the start menu where it was placed. All I got was the logo. Did an erase and new install with the same result.
There are no clues on the download page at

Is this a question of first installing the Hotkey Features Integration? What about the Hot Key Driver, is that included in the Features Integration?

  • Unable to boot arch after re-installing nvidia

My system is x64. I have Ubuntu installed along with Arch on a different partition. After having installed arch with some (probably redundant) nvidia packages, I decided to remove them by installing packam -S nvidia nvidia-uitls.
I had to remove mesa-(something or just mesa, I don't remember) and xf86-video-nouveau. So I installed nvidia nvidia-uitls successfully. Plus after that I installed xfce-settings because as I found out it should have resolved the issue of gnome-terminal. and I added this to xorg.conf:
    Section "Extensions"
        Option "Composite" "Enable"
    EndSection
The bottom line is, I can't boot to arch anymore. Only standard label on the black screen shows up (kvm: disabled by bios) and nothing else happens, meaning it kind of "boots" but it doesn't boot further than showing that label. What can I do?

  • Mid-2010 27" iMac very slow, even after clean OS install - HELP!

Good afternoon guys, I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice.
I bought my Mid-2010 27" iMac in May-ish 2011. Everything was brilliant, I couldn't believe the ease of use, and especially the start up speed, coming from a world of PCs. My iMac was used almost every day, for web browsing, photo editing, etc.
Maybe about April / May this year it started becoming very slow, slow to boot, slow to respond to mouse clicks, slow to do anything. Since I'd used about 750GB of my HDD (mainly photos), I decided I would archive some and hope that would ease the congestion. As my photos were stored in Aperture, it took about 3 days to export them all to my external HDD, 3 days of the iMac only getting so far, switching itself off, then me finally getting it to come back on (I was getting messages about Kernals, etc. now and again through boot too) - it finally backed up my photos I have from my daughters first year.
Great news, but I still had probably 400GB / 500GB of photos from her second year and any other photos I'd taken. I found the root of my Aperture directory, and managed to pull these images off, so everything is now backed up.
I decided I should try and clean install, and managed to get the HDD to boot and choose the option to re-install from Apple's Servers. All installed OK, and we're good to go! Fired up the iMac, and although it's fractionally quicker to respond, and a lot more stable, it's not quite right. And I've lost all my iLife Apps which originally came with the iMac.
Does this sound like a HDD issue? As I say, it was on quite a lot through the backup procedure, and I had set it (maybe stupidly looking back now) to never sleep, and for the monitor to only switch off after 3 hours. Or does it sound like something more is wrong with it?
I am quite confident of working with PCs, so would manage to replace the HDD I think, looking at some videos, etc. online. I did upgrade the RAM to 16GB, and that was simple enough. My question is, when you replace the HDD, how does it know where to look to the Apple Servers for the clean OS install? Or do I have to do something to let it know where to look first? I have to point out I don't have any Time Machine backup, etc. as the iMac was just not stable enough to get this in place - and up until that point, again probably stupid now looking back, I had never bothered to set up.
Any help / advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I have totally fallen out of love with the iMac, for something to cost £1,500+ and only last 3 years, where my last build PC lasted Approx 8 years for half the price, is very disappointing.
    Thanks in advance,
    Col

Just suggesting things right off the bat here-
To me it sounds as though the HDD is failing, if your iMac shipped with a Seagate drive try entering your serial number to see if Apple will replace it:http://www.apple.com/au/support/imac-harddrive/
Or try running Apple Hardware Test a few times back to see if it is a hardware error.
As for the iLife apps they should've come on one of the install discs that shipped with your mac.
If your iMac is ineligible for the program above I would consider replacing it yourself with either an SSD or HDD, as for recognising apples servers for download, you will need the original install discs that came with your computer or if you haven't already it will need a firmware update to enable internet recovery
See here:Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery
    Good Luck!

  • Brand new internal HDD fails again and again after clean Mavericks install - disc utility from Recovery HD can't repair

My old internal (self installed) Seagate HDD broke down, and couldn't be fixed with disc utility (from install disc). I bought and installed a new hybrid Seagate HDD, and did several clean installs of Mavericks, but the problem keep occurring - on the new HDD, just as it did on the old one.
I can't run Hardware test. Happened both on 10.9.0 and 10.9.1.
Will try to repair with DiscWarrior later.

If both the HDD and the hybrid disk are failing, your problem may be the SATA cable in the main HD bay. You might want to search eBay for Apple part # 922-9751, or if you want a tested cable, pay the higher price from ifixit -> http://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-Early-2011-Late-2011 -Hard-Drive-Cable/IF161-086.

  • MacBook Pros Not waking up properly even after clean re-install

I just bought a used 17" Quad core MBP with 16gb of ram.  I installed a samsung 512gb 840 Pro series SSD, transferred all my info from my old dual core i7 17" MBP.  So both are 10.8.4.
The new MBP started not waking up from sleep.  The keyboard would like up and the light in the front would indicate that it has started, but then it doesn't show anything on the screen.
Ultimately, I decided, i'll just do a clean re-install of OS 10.8 because maybe something went wrong in the migration.  Now, with a fresh install when i wake it from sleep it seems to open as if it ran out of power and is doing a restore power up.  The screen opens at half opacity and I get some progress dots and its back quickly. But it's still strange.  The only thing installed on the computer at all is adobe production suite.
Odd thing is, that the OLD computer, the DUAL core i7 17" MBP is also not waking up from sleep properly now.   It also has a new 128gb SSD drive It BTW.  It doesn't fully wake up, so I have to hold down the power button, shut it down then turn it back on again.  And again it does a recovery startup.
so now I have TWO computers having almost the same issues, and one of them has a fresh install.  So what could the problem be?  totally diffferent hardware. Does 10.8 not like SSD's in 17" MBP's?
    any tips would be apreciated.

One last detail, connectivity through my iPhone's hotspot works completely fine. No idea if that is related / helpful in any way.

I did a clean Windows install since I got a new HDD and I can not get the switchable GPU working again. I have the latest intel and amd drivers from Lenovo installed and both show up under dxdiag. When I try to access switchable graphics settings all I get is a blank page. The game I am playing shows what gpu is being used and it is Intel.

  • Photoshop CS2 on Windows 7 - unable to boot up after installing

Hi everyone, I really hope anyone can help me with this!!
Ok, I've always used Imageready CS2 to open avi files to edit then save as animation GIF without affecting quality (which part of PS CS2 that I did pay for) on my old laptop with Windows XP in the past.
Since then I've got a upgrade to PS CS5 (paid for) which I've installed successfully onto my new laptop with Windows 7 but till now, I'm dismayed to find that I'm unable to open avi files in PS CS5 just because I have 64 bit, not 32 bit even though I couldn't find the 32 bit program anywhere (apparently I found the 32 bit by searching in start up button but it still opens as 64 bit?).
So I thought I'd try installing PS CS2 into Windows 7 using my CD and found that the activation part doesn't work anymore which leads me to finding that I could download a copy of PS CS2 without the activation bit (yes I did the uninstall before installing PS CS2 without activation) everything was great BUT...untill I tried booting up my laptop next time, it wouldn't start up properly at all, it would only manage it to that Boot Screen Animation then blackness with the cursor in the middle or rarely to the log on screen that doesn't work but thats it so I had to do a system restore to get it back in working order minus the PS CS2
I thought it was the fault of other things I've downloaded at around same time like xvid decompressor codecs (so I could use VeeDub64) so I downloaded the codeces from different source and restarted to see if it boots up ok (it did) so I tried installing PS CS2 again but same thing happened on restart - failure to boot up and I had to do a few system restores (as some of the points didn't work ) before I barely got it back in working order yet again....
I see that some people have PS CS2 that works perfectly on Windows 7 with 64 bit because they changed the file path when installing the program? Or was I supposed to have the 32 bit program somewhere although maybe I don't have it since my PS CS5 is not extended? Would either of those work? To be honest, I'm quite reluctant to try as I may end up killing my laptop this time around and it's only around 2 years old!!
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

I'm happy to report that I've managed the resolve this issue of mine
After a little discussion with customer support through online chat today, I was still advised to try the uninstall and install to see what happens.
So I used the CC cleaner tool first, restarted then started by installing CS2 then CS5 using my serial numbers and made sure that I selected 32 and 64 bit programs to be installed
Anxiously, I restarted my laptop to see if it would reboot okay and thankfully it did *relief!*
Now I can open avi files using 32 bit of Photoshop CS5 without any problems (thank goodness!!)
I think I probably didn't install the 32 bit program when I first bought the installation CD, since I thought I didn't need it but never knew it was still required for editing avi files!!
Surprisingly, I still got to keep both versions of CS2 and CS5 this time around, as CS2 was simply replaced by CS5 when I first installed it two years ago....hmm.
    So thank you again gener7!

  • Boot freezes after clean install

I installed arch on my new desktop pc a couple of days. It was working fine until I tried to install fglxr. I run into a lot of problems, so I decided to make a new install.
After rebooting for the first time, my new system was working fine, after installing linux-pf and xorg-server and some other packages, I rebooted to make sure to install the catalyst drivers on the new kernel, but I found it freezes with no error after it says:
    Loading linux image...
    Loading intird image...
I've removed quiet kernel parameter and I've tried with debug and verbose, but I don't get any error.
I also (of course) tried to boot in to the "core" kernel, but the problem it's the same.
I've been trying for hours to do all sort of stuff, rebuilding the images, checking the paths to the kernel it's fine, ecc.
I'm really lost, because now my system has only the base stuff and I haven't changed any files :(

Ok, I've been trying to debug this and the behaviour is REALLY weird, I've found that if I load the system directly from grub (I'm using uefi), it's get stuck with no errors after:
    Loading Linux pf kernel ...
    Loading initial ramdisk ...
BUT, if I run refind first, and then I load grub; the system starts. I would have think it's some kind of grub2 bug, but I don't understand how it could work after loading refind. Any clues?

  • Windows XP boot problems after latest BDM Installed

    Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.1
    Hi Everyone,
I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager on a Dell Laptop yesterday and after a reboot it took forever to boot into Windows XP SP3 and when it did the machine was completely unresponsive.
I eventually managed to get the Task Manager running and it turns out that the process called System was using 99% CPU constantly.
Safe Mode took 20 minutes to go into Windows and again windows was unresponsive to the point I was unable to open the Control Panel and uninstall BDM.
I tried Last Known Good Configuration to no avail and in the end I reinstalled the System from Scratch.
I couldn't be 100% sure it was the installation of BDM that caused the problem because Windows had installed some updates so I figured a clean install would be a wise move.
I clean installed XP and updated to SP2 and everything was working perfectly again this morning so I tried to install BDM again - same problem!!!
The system is in a state of unresponsiveness again and I am trying desperately to get into Safe Mode to uninstall BDM which will hopefully restore my PC to a working state.
Does anyone have any ideas I can try or has anyone else experienced this?
I am relatively new to the Blackberry world but I am competent with Windows XP and a manner of technical issues but this is something that is really causing me a headache.

I have had the same problem repeatedly since I first got the 'update avilable' message on my Dell xp sp3.
I've found that turning off communication speeds up the computer so that you can go to a restore point or remove the program through the windows add/remove facility.  On my machine (Inspiron 6000) it is fn and f2 keys together.
I did NOT have to rebuild my system.
And thank you - I was beginning to think it was me

  • No boot option after Windows 7 install on Mac Pro

    Hi,
I have problem and it is very frustrating.
    My configuration
    Mac Pro 1.1 2x2.66
    RAM 5 GB
    HDs
    Bay1 500GB (have a Mac OSx 10.6)
    Bay2 250GB (install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)
Bay3 250GB (in raid Mac OSX 10.6.6) primary system
    Bay4 250GB (in raid Mac OSX 10.6.6)
I have install Windows 7 via Bootcamp from system 10.6.6 and format and install Windows 7 on HD in Bay2. After installation I try to choose which operating system I want to run (with option key) but nothing happen.
It was grey screen without apple logo and system boot to Windows 7 only.
I try everything to boot with different options (key shift,x,c,...) but nothing happen. I can only boot with windows 7 and if is the windows 7 DVD in drive first ask to boot with DVD, after that boot on Windows 7.
I try to put Mac OS system DVD but still don't want to run.
I also try to remove HD from Bay1(macosx) and Bay2 (windows7) and boot from Raid HD and I have error that there is no boot system.
In windows 7 I run Paragon HFS+ and I can see HD500 in Bay1 but cant see in Bay3 and 4 (RAID hd). In disk utility I can see all hard drives.
I try to reset PRAM but while booting what ever I press nothing happens and boot only windows 7.
I need solution for this problem, please help me with this issue, thx

Another thing that might be close...
I've installed Win7 64-bit on a second HDD. It is Ok to choose boot with 'option' key, but another option is missing: while in win7 apple's bootcamp control panel shows both MacHD and Win7 bootable partitions, so I can tell 'software way' to boot to win or to Snow Leo. It's OK. However when I open 'startup disk' in OS X there's only Mac HD so if I need to reboot to windows I can't just do it with several clicks. I actually have to shut down OS X, wait for boot screen, press option and then wait for the boot options to appear and them choose. It's 'a bit' annoying, let alone windows version of bootcamp seems to do the job smarter. And it really is a good thing to choose "reboot into desired OS" with a click and go to kitchen for tea or something and not seat in front of the machine waiting for boot screen...
Am I missing something? Is it done the other way then 'system preferences>startup disk'?

  • Unable to boot Powerbook after updating to 10.4.9

    Hi Folks,
Really hope someone can help me. I have a 12 inch Powerbook , G4, 1.5 GHz. 1.25 Gb RAM, 100 Gb hard drive, Superdrive, running OS X 10.4 Tiger.
I purchased the machine in mid 2005 and have had no problem reunning it. The computer came with OS X 10.4.0 installed. I have regularly updated it as Software Update recommends.
Several days ago, the computer crashed while using Safari to browse the internet. When I attempted to reboot I prgresed through the grey screen with the spinning cog to the Mac OS X startup screen and ended up freezing at a blank blue screen with a mouse curser. After much fiddling around with Disk Utility and the install disk's I was able to re-install 10.4.0 from the disk and eventually got the machine restarted. It was slow and regularly crashed whenever I ran programs, especially sofware update. I manually downloaded the OS X 10.4.9 combo update for Power PC and installed it. Was very slow going and hung up at the end for a long time but eventually seemed to work and the computer reset but froze at the grey screen. Since then I have been unable to progress past the initial grey screen with the apple logo. No spinning cog, no blue screen. I am unable to start it in safe mode, single user mode, verbose mode or even pressing down C to get to the disk utility. When I restart it with the installation disk in the drive, I am able to get to the install menu and run disk utility from there but it has a disk management tool error when attempting to verify or repair definitions. Repair Disk says there are no errors. I have reinstalled 10.4.0 from the disk three times but no change. I have about 2Gb of space free and the rest is filled with stuff I really don't want to delete. Plus I can't get access to the hard drive to delete things anyway.
Any suggestions? Safe mode doesn't work, Verbose or single user dont work, disk utilities don't help and I don't have another Mac I can do a Targeted restart from. Prefer not to do an erase and install as I'll lose 93 Gb worth of files.

No backup, mate? Tsk, tsk. Now that I got that out of the way, on to the problem.
First thing to try is zapping the PRAM: restart, holding down the CMDOPT+PR keys until you get at least three bongs, then let go.
Boot the machine with the Apple Hardware Test disk that came with the machine and run the extended tests. If the machine passes those, boot the machine normally and see if that fixes things.
If these don't work, I strongly suggest getting an external FireWire HD, boot with the install disks, use Disk Utility to format the HD, selecting Mac OS Extended, click on Options, select zero out data, and click on the erase button. When that's finished, install Tiger onto it, and see if it successfully boots the machine.
Enough for now, that should keep you busy for awhile. Come back with what works or doesn't work. Time to hit the sack.

  • Won't boot, even after fresh OS install?!

So, my MacBook Pro started crashing, didn't seem to follow a pattern, it would just randomly freeze. Then it got to the point of not even booting up. It would stay on the light grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel would stop.
I booted it from the Snow Leopard OS disk to try and repair it, check disk permissions etc, crashed again (screen flashing very fast). Then formatted the drive (zero out all data) to try and get it a fresh and clean as possible, that completed, so went to install the OS, that completed, but when it restarted after installing it crashed at the same point, only now a darker grey screen wipes down telling me to turn off my machine.
The hard drive isn't making any strange noises so I don't think thats the problem, but other than swapping that out for another one I have run out of ideas. Has anyone had a similar problem?
It's a 17'' MBP (not unibody). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

If it crashed while booted from the installation disc, then you have a hardware fault. Take it to an Apple Store for testing.

The Mac App Store (MAS) can see its apps installed on mounted partitions and ext/int HDDs. Is there a backup of your previous installation mounted on your Mac with these two apps? If so, that is why the MAS sees them as installed.
    Two ways to get the apps on your reinstall of Mt Lion;
    1. Locate the apps on the mounted drive and drag & drop the apps to the Apps folder on your Mt Lion boot drive
    2. Dismount the mounted drive with the apps, so the MAS doesn't see them and download them again from your list on the Purchased pane
