Unable to bootstrap transaction group: inconsistent crosscheck

Disk Utility reports the following errors when I run it on my startup disk 'Macintoch HD'. When I click 'repair' it is not able to complete the repair and suggests to reboot from the recovery disk. When I do that and run DU on 'Macintosh HD', it reports no errors and shows a green result message. I can repeat the reboots and checks with the same results.
What does this mean and how do I resolve it, shy from reinstalling everything?

I had exactly the same problem with Disk Utility reporting "Unable to bootstrap transaction group xxxx: inconsistent crosscheck" errors when booted from Macintosh HD but no errors when booted from the Recovery HD. The following resolved it for me:
1. Turn off FileVault; decrypting the drive took about an hour
2. Run Disk Utility - reported two Macintosh HD, one greyed out
3. Reboot (to see if it resolved 2)
4. Run Disk Utility from Macintosh HD again; only one Macintosh HD and no errors reported
5. Turn on FileVault; encryption took another hour or so
6. Reboot again
7. Run Disk Utility from Macintosh HD again; no errors reported
No reformatting, reinstalling or replacing hard drives, as other reports have suggested.

Thanks! Worked for me.

I suppose it is serious bug in Mac OS Lion managing FileVault and wonder what the help could be?

Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives. Check out G Tech, and Maxx Digital for starters.
    Best of luck

  • DiskUtility error: unable to bootstrap transaction group

I get this bootstrap error with a checksum mismatch but searching only found 1 other person with 'chksum mismatch' with 1 reply which was not of use.
"Unable to bootstrap transaction group 611: cksum mismatch
Unable to bootstrap transaction group 609: cksum mismatch"
MacBook Pro 13" early 2011, 10.7.2, Kingston 60 GB SSD as boot volume. FileVault full disk encryption is enabled.
I get this error when use Verify Disk when booted from the volume or even when I try to Repair Disk when I boot from a Lion flash drive or in target mode.
I also get the green OK messages at the end but when I Verify/Repair again, it still shows the same bootstrap errors. Why does this happen? Why doesn't DiskUtility fix it? Is it a bad error? Seems odd that it says OK at the end but still shows the errors.
    Thanks.

  • Disk util error bootstrap transaction group:23102

So out of know where my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012 10.10)  is having problems. Its hanging up on a lot of things like safari, lagging when I turn the volume down, and more. When I try to boot to recovery mode using option nothing shows but my hd, when I do CMD R i am able to go to disk utill. When I tried verifying disk I get these messages. If I hit repair on the top mac had drive(see pic) it just keeps telling me to repair. If I do a verify disk in the second mac hd that is under it and indented it tells me to back up my stuff and reinstall. This transaction group error changes on me many times.
Also I have my fire fault turned off It was on but i turned it off

  • HT1491 I'm using a prepaid credit card to make in app purchases. Every 2 days or so, I will attempt to make an in-app purchase and it will say "Unable to complete transaction at this time. Please contact iTunes Store Support."

Like I said, I often play iOS games on my iPhone 4S in my spare time. Sometimes, if the game is good enough, I will attempt to make an IAP (In-App Purchase). Sometimes, I have no trouble with this. Other times it will say: "Unable to complete transaction at this time. Please contact ITunes Store Support. I primarily use a prepaid credit card by AMEX called Bluebird. I always make sure that I have plenty of funds available in it. For instance, tonight, it has roughly $200 stored. So I try to make an IAP for $10 and it works fine. Later I make another for $15, no trouble there either. Then I try to make a purchase on the same game for $2.99 and it gives me that error message.
This has been happening on and off for the past 3-4 weeks only. Every few days it happens, I contact the iTunes Store Support, and sometime in the next 24-72 hours they get back to me. They then apologize for the inconvenience and fix the problem. But the main problem is that their fix seems to be only temporary. It happens irregardless of how much money I have available on my card. I've even had it happen when I had just redeemed a. $50 iTunes gift card and was trying to make a $5 purchase.  It doesn't seem to matter if I've spent a little bit or a lot of money that day. It doesn't care for which game I am purchasing the IAP. TThis never happened to me before a month ago. Now it won't stop. And it is incredibly frustrating that it seems to happen for no rhyme or reason out of the blue. Then I'm stuck waiting on the support staff to get back to me for the next few hours to few days, depending on the day.
Is this happening to anyone else?  Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?  Or how can I prevent it from happening in the future. The support folks at Apple are nice, but I'm tired of emailing them every other day with the same problem. I'm sure they are quite tired of getting emails from me at the same frequency. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Nick
P.S. my Internet connection is working perfectly. No technical difficulties whatsoever other than the inability to make an IAP. Also, after it gives that unable to complete transaction message, I can no longer buy anything with my apple account until tech support fixes it. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

Thank you Brian, but I just tried that, and it didn't work, I'm still getting the same messages.

  • Unable to create Product group form T Code- MC84 in ECC 6.0

    Dear Expert,
After Upgrade from 4.7E to ECC 6.0 we are facing problem for Tcode-MC84(Create Product Group) is opening but we are unable to Create product group..
can any tell me what is problem for this or is there any apply SAP Note for this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Kumar,

    Hi,
I think for some particular versions you can create a product group directly using T code MC84, and if u have got a material type say PROD-Product group, then use mm01 for creating a product group. And then you can do the  change in MC86 for product group.

  • Transaction group for internal order

    Hi Experts,
Please tell me where is the assignment done of transaction groups for internal order status management (KOV2) to internal order types. And how to add additional business transaction in it.
    Regrds,
    Sonali.

    Hi,
In the order master, you can enter a business transaction group as a "disallowed transaction group". The business transactions contained in this group can no longer be used on the order.
Standard group ALL contains all possible transactions for I/O.

  • Warning! task_eval_init(): unable to set User/Group baseDN

    Hi,
I have installed Directory server on Unix platform.
Installation went successful. While doing the installation, I have given the userid to run the server as "admxxx" and group as "www".
After the installation, the server started properly but with a warning message that "warning: daemon is running as super-user". And I was able to open the console and do whatever I wanted.
We have created 3 more directory server instances and we imported an LDIF file into one of the instances successfully.
Now the problem is, whenever we start the admin server, we are getting the following message.
    bash-2.03# ./start-admin
Info: Cache expiration set to 600 seconds
Warning! task_eval_init(): unable to set User/Group baseDN
    Netscape-Administrator/4.2 B2002.057.2313
startup: listening to http://servername, port 6061 as root
warning: daemon is running as super-user
Can any one tell why I am getting the message Warning! task_eval_init(): unable to set User/Group baseDN ?
This is very urgent. We have configured this LDAP to SiteMinder server.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Murthy

    zhangping,
I don't recognize your error. But are you using ldap for logging into SunMC ? This is not possible.

  • Unable to create server groups

    Hi All,
I am unable to create server groups on Business Objects 3.1 Edge server. It has been updated till SP 4. I  get the following error
"This operation is not permitted with your current set of license keys. Upgrade your license keys to enable this operation. (FWB 00015)"
Is this a limitation of BO edge series?
    Cheers,
    AK

    Hi Alok,
Are you using Temporary license ? if not, please try below
Replace the file "libkeydecoder.so" in <BOE install dir>/bobje/enterprise120/<platform>  with the file from your install CD.
