Unable to burn certain AAC protected songs

Hi everyone,
I am having trouble burning some of my music. I was trying to burn a playlist/make an audio cd containing protected AAC audio files. For some reason iTunes decided not burn several of the songs on the playlist. I then created a new playlist containing only those songs that didn't burn properly and tried to burn another audio cd. iTunes will not even attempt to burn these songs.
Why would iTunes burn some protected AAC audio files and not others?

Have you been able to get those tracks to burn yet?  I have the same problem - about 30 songs won't burn.  I don't even get an error message.

  • ITunes newbie... bought MPEG AAC protected songs, wont drag over to Shuffle?

I bought 3 songs from I Tunes store and all are "protected AAC". What to do...

I think what your problem is is that you have the Shuffle on automatic sync mode, that means that iTunes automatically loads songs onto your iPod and you can't do it manually. To put these songs on your Shuffle I would suggest in iTunes when your SHuffle is plugged in to go to the bottom right hand corner and click on the little iPod button. This will open up the iPod options. Then when it says auto-sync, select manual sync and you should be good to go.

  • How do i Only burning certain parts of songs to disc (like a mix)?

I just want to burn like 45 seconds of a song to a disc (for a basketball warm up mix) and i can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks for your help, I would never have had any idea how to do it myself. After experimenting with your information, I found the order was - R click song, Get Info, Options, Choose start/stop time for the bit you want, tick boxes, Click OK, then create New Playlist from File, Drag and Drop the song into the new playlist, play the song from the New Playlist and it should work.
Once again, thanks for your help.

  • How many times can you burn a protected song?

How many times can you burn a purchased iTMS song onto an audio cd?
I know they say you can only burn a playlist so many times but does that also include the purchased songs? (I hope not)
Does anybody know the official iTMS ruling on this?

I believe I read that you are allowed to burn it seven times, but I burn mixes all the time and have never run into a message that I've reached my limit. Honestly, though, if you are—at some point—unable to burn anymore, you can reimport a purchased song from one of the burned CDs.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I sync protected AAC formated songs to my Ipod

I have a 4th Gen iPod Nano and I have over 90+ songs listed in my Library that I notice have a "Protected AAC format" heading what ever that is), which WILL NOT sync and copy to my Ipod. I paid for ALL these songs previously and now, evidently, I can't copy them to my Ipod?? This is hogwash!! I havee tried everything....backed up my entire library to cd's, formated my iPod, restored my iPod, de-authorized my computer, re-authorized my computer, you name it, I've tried it. Nothing works.  These songs evidently are no longer on the ITunes store because they were studio versions of songs of American Idol songs, or other "protected" songs. This is crap! They don't TELL you this when you go to buy their songs!
Can anyone help me rectify this problem, get around iTunes "rules"....anything that will get my songs ON my iPod?   Oh, I can't even convert them to MP3's to reinstall them back on my iPod like the directions say!  What good is iTunes if you buy songs and you can't copy them to your iPods?   Maybe I should have stuck with a regular MP3 player where I can buy music anywhere and play it on anything without all the "rules and regulations!"
    Thank you!

  • I am unable to burn CDs with songs recently purchased from itunes. No problem before. When I try to burn a playlist with new songs, I get the error message that "songs will not it on 1 audio CD". If I remove all songs except the new one, it will burn.

I am unable to burn CD's with the last 4 songs I've purchased from the iTunes store. I can burn CD's from playlist using previously purchased songs with no problem. With a normal length playlist including 1 of the newly purchased songs, I get the message "songs will not fit on one CD". I can remove all but the new song and 1 other and the CD will burn. I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and still have the problem.

I have that EXACT same problem! I have no idea what to do though, but it is very mucho frustrating. Let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same.

  • I purchased a song and it wont play...shows Codecs:AAC (protected), how do i get it to play?

I recently purchased a song on itunes and it wont play, when I go to my file and open up the info, i noticed that it shows Codec:AAC (protected) where my other songs are not. Or if im in itunes in my purchased song, when i open the info it shows Kind: AAC audio file where my other songs show Kind: Purchased AAC audio file. how do i get my song to play or get it unprotected?

    Hi,
It would seem that you have a corrupted file. Delete track from your library and move to trash. You can now go back into iTunes Store / purchased where you will be able to down load the song again.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

I am unable to play certain songs since itunes wants me to authorize the computer with an old email address I had when I first bought the songs. I don't remember that password and when I use my present Apple id and password it doesn't authorize the computer to play those songs. How do I get these songs authorized since there are a lot of them?

Purchases are always tied to the account from which they were purchased.

    Micky,
The iTunes Store sells songs in AAC format.  Most Android phones can play AACs.  Just sync them to your phone per the instructions with the phone.
If by any chance your phone does require MP3 format, you can use iTunes to convert the files, per this guide:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support
(This conversion does not require burning.)
For future reference, note that the iTunes Store is really optimized for people using Apple devices.  You might find it more convenient to buy music in Mp3 format from Amazon Digital Music or Google Play Music.

  • I am trying to burn a playlist and it I keep getting error 4850.  I am running Windows xp.  I am unable to burn disc since I updated my computer with itunes.

Every since I updated my itunes, I get error 4850 for burning a disc.  How do I fix this error.   I am unable to burn a disc.  Please help!!!

The HDD should accept AAC or MP3.
Burn a data disc instead of an audioCD. You can get about 120 songs on a regular CD.

  • Unable to burn AUDIO to DVD or Disk image, video is fine

As many other posts have stated; I am unable to burn the Audio portion of an iDVD nor does "save as disk image" transfer the audio of my iDVD. Transferred an iMovie, (an iPhoto set of photos with iTunes audio imported into iMovie) to iDVD. Audio plays on iMovie, audio plays on iDVD preview. Tried removing recommended ~com.apple.iXXX.plist, no help. Tried different encoding methods: i.e. Best/High/Professional. Tried saving to different sizes HD/Large/etc. Tried Share Media in iTunes, Media Browser, etc. Checked Main Audio, volume slider bar in iDVD. Tried importing audio into iDVD rather than transferring from iMovie. It doesn't seem to matter how I build the iDVD it works, until I go to Save As Disk Image or Burn DVD. Video works great (better in Large than HD) Audio doesn't transfer.
21 total minutes, 1.15GB of final iDVD using a default theme.

    Hi
(an iPhoto set of photos with iTunes audio imported into iMovie) to iDVD
Yes this is the problem - in iTunes there is a copy-protection that moves over
    Result
    • Plays well in iMovie
    • Plays well in iDVD preview
    • Silent on DVD
Only way around this is to in iTunes collect needed audio into a play-list
Burn this out as an Audio-CD and .aiff (NOT .mp3)
Use the audio on this CD in Your iMovie project.

  • Unable to burn CDs

    Hi;
I have just installed iTunes on a new WIN 7 64 bit computer and I am unable to burn CDs. When starting iTunes I get the message that I need to re-install iTunes to fix the problem. I have done that but still does not solve the issue, Also installed the GEAR driver as suggested in another thread.

    Thanks for any help

Thanks for the quick response I went to the device manager and did what you asked and no change in performance, but in the drop-down of the DVD/CD Rom Drive the next file? of HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T2ON ATA DEVICE on the icon there is a pyramid with the yellow exclamation point inside??. I've tried to update the drivers but Microsoft says that they are up to date. It seems that my Windows Media Player does not know or recognize that I have an internal CD burner because on the side box where you are to drag songs to burn, the message of "Connect a burner and restart the player". As you can tell I am not very computer literate so any help will be greatly appreciated. How can I tell if the CD/DVD player is just broken?? Thanks so much.

  • HT201272 How to convert "protected" songs

How can I convert my "protected" songs to "unprotected"?  I thought maybe re-downloading them would work, but on my purchased list, these show up as already "downloaded", so apparently that's not the answer.  I see articles on here talking about upgrading the songs using iTunes Plus, but I can't find that either. Did I miss my opportunity to do that?

    Gayle,
Well you did miss one opportunity.  For several years Apple offered to upgrade protected songs to Plus for 30 cents (US) per track, but that program ended last year.
But you still have two options:
You can subscribe to iTunes Match, and use it to upgrade your tracks as described in this document:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1711
You can use iTunes to burn the tracks to an audio CD, which can be used like any normal audio CD.

  • ITunes problem... Purchased protected songs wont play!!! Help!

I just purchase a Mac mini... My old MacBook has left us after years of service...Ive purchased alot of music from iTunes over the years and some of it will not play on my new Mac mini... I've authorized the Mac mini for iTunes use but still certain protected songs will not play. Before my old MacBook crashed I backed up all of my music on an external hard drive... I then uploaded the hard drive music onto my Mac mini.... I have about 11 bob Dylan albums that will not play although the are authorized.... Help pleaseeee!!!

Hi all this sounds all too familiar The only difference I noted was that mine is not playing all songs (and videos) that I previously purchased (although it did play one purchased album!! I've searched all the help files and cannot work this out. Appreciate any guidance.
