Try to open one of the problem files in the QuickTime player. Under WINDOW in the QT Player menu bar select 'Show Movie Information'. What video and audio format information is shown?

  • Unable to burn additional files to CD

I'm unable to burn additional files to a CD I previously burned to.
When I look at the CD via disk utility it states "Write Status :Read Only"
Is there a way that I can still write to this CD?
I assume I must have done something wrong earlier with the first burn to allow multisessions.
    Any ideas?
    thanks!

No, you can't write to it again. You can't write a session from the Finder. You need to use Disk Utility or an application like Toast. Here's how to do it with Disk Utility.
Recording on a CD-R disc more than once
Normally, you can only burn information to a CD-R disc one time. If you use a CD-RW disc, you can erase the disc and then record on it again.
There is a way to use a CD-R disc more than once. If you use Disk Utility to burn the disc, you can set up the disc to accept more disk images in the future. This way, you can burn a disk image now and add to the disc later until there is no more room on the disc. This is called "multisession" burning.
IMPORTANT: Some formats (such as ISO) only allow one disc burning session. Others, such as HFS+ (Mac-OS Extended) allow more than one session until the disc is filled.
1 Create a folder for the session and drag the items you want to burn into the folder.
2 Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities.
3 Select Images > New > "Image from Folder." Then select the folder you created in the navigation window and click Open.
4 Type a name for the image, choose a disk format, and click Save.
5 When the disk image is complete, select it in the left column of the Disk Utility window.
6 Choose Images > Burn or click Burn in the tool bar.
7 Insert a blank CD in the optical drive.
8 Select the "Leave disc appendable" checkbox. If you don't see this option, click the triangle in the top-right corner to see this option.
    9 Click Burn.

I have elements 12 in Windows 7 but is unable to see mp4 (Canon G16) files in the organiser. The sound from the file is there but no image!
Other file formats from Canon is no problen. So What to do??

    Me again,
A friend suggested that I do a system restore.
I did a search for system restore in Windows 7 and got a very intuitive menu.
I selected an earlier system restore point and executed the restore.
After the computer restart I reloaded Firefox 5.0 and the Ask.com problem was corrected.
My friend says this approach may work about 25% of the time to fix this kind of problem. In my case it worked and I am happy.
    Thanks all.

  • Unable to open mp4 files from legato video converter

I converted my hi8 tapes to mp4 files using legato video converter.  I am unable to open the mp4 files in adobe premiere 11.  Please help

    double nn
    Thanks for the additional information.
This is what I would like you to try.
Make copies of your present AVCHD.mp4 file. And, then go through the process of renaming the file extension ONLY from:
    mp4
    to
    .mts, m2t, m2ts, .mov, .avi.
Then set up a Premiere Elements 11 new project by
    a. Setting your own project preset NTSC DV Standard
To do that, in the Premiere Elements 11 workspace, File Menu/New/Project. Then in the New Project Dialog, set for NTSC DV Standard, making sure that you put a check mark next to "Force this Project setting on this project" before you click OK.
    b. Then import your AVCHD.mp4, AVCHD.mts, AVCHD.m2t, AVCHD.m2ts, AVCHD.mov, AVCHD.avi into Premiere Elements 11 with its Add Media feature.
Do any of the files with the different file extensions import?
We will be watching for the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to burn DMG files to CDs on external USB2 disc burners?

    Hello.
I am having difficulties burning 88.x MB DMG files to CDs (new CD-Rs and an old CD-RW) onto two different external USB2 disc burner drives (both have power AC connected: HP and LG Super brands). The new Mac Mini (no disc slot drive)'s updated 64-bit Mac OS X 10.7.4's Disk Utilities tries to burn and then fail right away or after a few seconds. The error says "Unable to burn 'whatever.dmg' (The disc drive did not respond properly and can't recover or retry." Nothing interesting in dmesg, but Disk Utility's logs had details: http://pastie.org/private/6tnqcnkwycr2yftp8gkzxw ...
I do see my drives' lights on during the burn. I can quick erase the old CD-RW fine. I can burn 538 MB from an 64-bit Windows 8 on my Acer AM3800 PC with the same discs and external burner drives without any problems. Also, I thought it was my USB cable extension, but it wasn't it. I don't use any USB hubs either. DMG files are fine too. I did notice copying from a CD to Mac Mini's local HDD was slow, but no failures.
What could be the problem? Is USB2 too slow or something? Thank you in advance.

    Did you look at...
    ~/Library/Logs/DiscRecording.log
USB2 is slow, but not that slow, but have you tried reducing the burn speed?
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Disk Burning & report what it says, like ...

To avoid these issues, you guessed it, you shouldn't delete the /tmp symbolic link from the Mac OS X volume.
If /tmp is missing, it's easy to make a new one by following these steps:
Mac OS X 10.3 or later
Recreate the missing /tmp link by using the Disk Utility application to repair permissions on your Mac OS X startup volume.

  • N79 unable to play .mp4 files

hi i have recently buyed n79.
i have converted the .avi files to .mp4 and saved the file into my mobile
but when i tried to play, it is showing the error message.
please kindly help me in this regard.

It's probably because you didn't use a compatible format.
Not all MP4 files are the same. They could be a number of codecs or levels that are not supported. Also resolutions.

*_DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOUR NOT SURE TAKE IT TO APPLE_*
Un plug your Ipod for computer.
Hold "Volume -" then "Standby button" then "Volume +"
Keep holding all 3 till you get to Ipods diagnostic mode.
Select "Standby" power button is the enter key.
Tap standby button again and you will see the apple logo
As soon as you see it hold both Vol - and Vol + at the same time.
Hold them till you get a very generic looking " OK to disconnect" screen
    Connect ipod to computer
    Your now in disk mode.

  • Twonkey media server unable to read mp4 files created by new version of Leawo Blu Ray Ripper

For the past week I have been ripping DVDs with a new version (v7.3.0.3) of Leawo Blu Ray Ripper.  The Twonkey media server (v7.2.9-1) on my WD4100DL will not read the newer files compared to movies ripped with the old version (v7.2.1.4).  My Roku media server does just fine.  Is there an upgrade of the Twonkey media server available?
    Thanks for any advice.

I think that Leawo has helped me to solve the problem.  The MP4 files that I made using the old version of Blu-Ray Ripper apparently defaulted to H.264 video codec for MP4 files.  Twonky is able to read those files. The new version (7.3.0.3) of Leawo Blu-Ray Ripper defaulted to MPEG4 video codec.  Twonkey cannot read those MP4 files.  I have changed the video codec to H.264 in Blu-Ray Ripper and I am in the process of ripping a DVD now.  I will post the result.

  • Tried Many Different Discs/Still Unable to burn in Imovie 6/Idvd 6

So I have an 8 times burner, and I'm wondering if I upgraded to a 16 times burner would that alliviate my problems or create more? I have 84 GB's of free hard drive space in my source drive. I've tried all different discs including TDK,Memorex, various printable ones and Apple(Apple ironically is the disc that I have had the most problems with-i've yet to have a disk successfully burn using Apple Disks)
There is one disk that I have found at Fry's Electronics-a total no name brand that seems to work just fine everytime. All the rest so far have been a complete waste of money.
I've tried to burn all different kinds and sizes of projects-Really big ones with alot of third party effects, as well as really small ones with nothing more than just a few minutes of raw footage. The results are the same each time: Only this one off brand of dvd at Fry's seems to work. The rest don't burn, or finish burning with errors.
This is becoming a bigger issue because 8 times disks are getting harder to find. but I really don't want to upgrade to 16 times burner if it's going to introduce more problems.
Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated. thanks

These are the most common recommendations made by others in this forum.
Use Verbatim or Maxcell DVD-R disks as recommended in this forum. Save to a disk image and burn the disk image using disk utility at 2x (you can control the burn speed in disk utility, iDVD does not allow you to alter the burn speed).

  • Unable to burn mp4a files

sorry if this answered herein, but could not find: i am burning a dvd (to be able to put more music on it) and have found that many of my files in itunes are mp4a instead of mp3s.... even albums i was previously able to burn to a cd are now mp4a files... is there a way to burn these, or convert them? did i somehow convert them from mp3 to mp4a without realizing it? does apple lossless do this and therefore i should avoid? any links or suggestions much appreciated.

if one wants to burn cds on occasion, to import AGAIN -- in the mp3 format -- when i want to burn a cd? or is there a way to convert the already imported .m4a files to mp3 temporarily and then revert to the m4a format?
If you're importing your CDs as Apple Lossless, you can convert those Lossless tracks to MP3 without needing to re-import. Set the Importing preference to MP3, select the tracks you want to convert, and select the "Convert Selection.." command under the Advanced menu. iTunes will then make a copy (it's not really converting) of the tracks in MP3 format. You can then burn those copies to your DVD and either keep the MP3s in iTunes or delete them. If you show the Kind column - control-click on any of the column headers you'll be able to select that column to show - you can then click on the Kind header to sort by Kind and you'll quickly see the MP3s. You can also make Smart Playlists to show just the MP3s.
Don't forget to set the Importing preference back to Apple Lossless once you're through converting.

  • Burn MP4 to DVD?

I need to know how to burn MP4 files to a DVD disc that can be played on a regular DVD player. I have tried to the application Burn and it worked great but only for the first time. It never worked again cause an error always came up. I have read that many people have had that same issue. Please someone help. I need very specific instructions. I have OS X 10.8.2       Macbook Pro.

Ok, I answered my own question.  I had a project open at the time. Once I closed the window, selecting "OneStep DVD from Movie" worked just fine.

  • AVI Files for iDVD ((QUESTION))

    Hello,
I took some digital video on my new digial camera.
The video files are AVI. I am able to play them via quicktime on my mac mini with no problem.
The issue I am having is when I want to burn the files into iDVD.. I get error messages. I can import the files fine.. Its just wen I get to the rendering phase I get an error.
Do I need to convert the AVI files to .MOV? What must I do?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    D.

Not all .AVI files us the same CODECs (AVI is really just a file 'wrapper') and I've have very mixed results using AVI files directly.
I use ffmpegX at http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ to convert my AVI files to DV Stream for use in iMovie/iDVD.

  • Why do .mp4 files not show up in the Finder/work in iDVD?

    Hi
I downloaded some .mp4 files from the internet on my Windows PC and as per usual they are played by quicktime on my PC.
When I saved them to my external HDD and plugged it into my MBP, the folder containing the mp4 files does not appear, and neither will they import into iDVD where I am trying to burn them.
I am a new MBP user (and a happy one so far) so I am well aware I coukd be missing something here, but I thought that .mp4 was practically guaranteed to play on a Mac especially given the relationship to video iPods?
Thanks in advance for your contributions!
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks, but after installing this nothing seems to have changed except that if I download the .mp4 files from my Mac they appear on the Desktop. They can be played with Quicktime but if they are played in VLC there is no sound
The folder on my external HDD which contains the .mp4 files still does not ahow up.
    I am now very confused!
Does anyone have more ideas, I'll try whatever!
    Thanks
