Unable to burn photos to CD or DVD

When I select share->burn from iPhoto11 and then select "continue", I get a progress pop-up, which immediately disappears and nothing is burned to CD/DVD. I am able to burn CD/DVD from the disk utility, but not from iPhoto. How can I fix this?

BTW This is only when burning from a disk Image created within DU.
I haven't tried just inserting the disk dragging files and right clicking "Burn".
I've had no problems previously with the normal (Disk Image) method, I'm really panicking because I want to back up my latest work (that is already backed up to an external ... but you can't be too careful)
Once again, any advice much appreciated.

How do I burn photos to a CD/DVD in Elements 10?

I have Elements 8 and burning photos to a CD/DVD is very easy to do. I am helping someone who just bought a new computer and Elements 10 is on it. I tried on her version, but I couln't find how to do it. I couldn't even find a video tutorial on how to do it in Elements 10. She has not created an account yet - could that prevent access to the Adobe TV tutorials. I have had my version for two years and I forgot how I set it up.

What kind of CD/DVD do you want to make? Just a data disc with photos on it? Open photos, then Editor>Share>More Options works for both macs and windows computers. In windows you can use File>Export in the organizer, too, or File>copy/move.
The tutorials that used to need the inspiration browser are now at tv.adobe.com. Anyone can watch them.

Unable to Burn Anything to Dual Layer DVD

I have a new Memorex MRX-530LE dual layer burner, and I have verified that I do have the latest firmware from the manufacturer.
I am able to burn dual-layer DVDs with no difficulty using NERO. I am unable to burn a dual-layer DVD backup with iTunes 8. I have verified this with two different brands of DVD+R9 (DL) media, and I have verified that I am easily able to burn backups using single-layer DVD-5 media.
Can anyone verify whether iTunes 8 supports dual-layer at all? I have searched the forum and find nothing more recent than 2006, and am hoping that others have now experienced my situation, since DL media and burners are common today.

Hi. I am having the same problem. I have already done one backup and I want to do an incremental backup, but when I insert the DL+ disc it tells me that I will need 14 disc. My itunes is only 6.5 gigs?
I think it's a bug.

I'm unable to burn photos to a cd anymore

When I try to burn photos to a cd I get the following message:
Burn Failed. Burn to superdrive failed. The disk drive didn't respond properly & can't recover or retry.
Is there anyway I can fix this? I last burnt photos to a cd about a month or two ago and it all worked.

Yes, I use the same media for photos, as I have a large stack of the same brand of cd.
The last time I used the burner was actually for a DVD, using the same brand of DVD's that I use.

Unable to burn and watch videos on DVD because of locked files?

I have an Imac G5 a few years old and have just installed Leopard. I have been trying to burn some videos onto a DVD but after it is burnt, I cannot open the videos. I think it is because the original file was locked. I then discovered that all files were locked. I go to Get info on each folder and unlock it. I also unlocked the folder with the videos before burning it to DVD. Still I cannot open the videos on the DVD. Somehow the folders stay locked even though I unlocked them. Any suggestions?

How can I burn photos from Iphoto to dvd?

I have photos in iphoto I want to burn to a dvd, have tried doing this 4 times and dvd comes out as though finished but I am unable to play it on a pc? I need to give a copy to my daughter who only has a pc not a mac is this possible, surely?

Unable to burn CD but succeeding with DVD

It's having a hp cd-dvd writable drive, Firmware : TS-L633N
I'M UNABLE TO WRITE CD
CD burning task completes successfully but when i reinsert that cd it again shows a blank disk.
I use Nero & Power2go
With DVD everything is fine....Burning Reading & so also CD reading
Please, help me out !

Try the troubleshooting on this HP web document. I still lean towards the problem being the quality of the CD discs as it is the most common solution when people run into this issue.

Unable to burn pictures to CD or DVD

I just installed iLife '08 and updated all the software, iPhoto is now version 7.1.1. I go through the steps to burn a CD, and it asks me to insert a blank disk, which I do. Once the disk is installed and spins up I get a message that the disk is full, no matter how many times I try a different blank disc. I took those same disks that iPhoto indicated as being full and successfully burned a different data file using toast and it worked fine. Any thoughts?

In the most simple mode, you can select the photo's, and then use the send command to select the CD/DVD drive. Without knowing what creativity software is installed in your unit, it's difficult to offer guidance.

Cannot burn photos to dual-layer DVD

I'm trying to use iPhoto's Share->Burn menu, on a recent Mac Pro. It doesn't get far before failing the burn (I don't think it burns any data at all).
The error I get is:
Burn Failed
The burn to the OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7170A drive failed. Double Layer transition point has already been specified; it cannot be changed.

Unable to burn photos to backup CD

I am trying to burn a group of photos to CD so I can delete them from my iMac. I have the CD in the slot and try to drag the photos from iPhoto to the CD icon on the desk top but get this message "The selected items cannot all be put in the same location because at least one of them "scan1.jpg" is busy" As a result none of the photos is transferred. As far as I know I have no photos open during this effort.
Can anyone offer help?

This can happen when you're trying to put more than one file of the same name into a folder (or disk). Use the file -> export command and export the files to a folder In the Export dialogue you have the opportunity to rename the files in various ways.

Downloaded TV shows on iTunes but unable to burn them to a regular DVD

Hello,
I just downloaded some TV shows on iTunes and it will only let me burn them to a data CD and i need it burned to a regular CD so I can watch it on the TV. It won't let me import the files, which are .mv4, to either iMovie or iDvd. I don't know what to do.

Unable to Burn DVD due to Verification Failure

I am trying to make a backup copy of my Leopard Install DVD. It is a 7.2 GB file so I used Disk Utility to make a disk image of the DVD, then tried to burn the disk image to a Sony DVD+R Dual Layer disk (8.5 GB). Everything seemed to be working just fine, the burn process completed but at the very end I got an error message stating: Unable to burn "MAC OS X Install DVD Copy" (verification of the burn failed)
Is this a factor of the media used or something else? The disk image I created on my desktop appears to be fully functional. I put a copy of the disk image on a backup drive but I would prefer to have it on DVD media if possible.

Yes I was stuck with Sony DVD+R DLs tonight but thought I would try one anyway. I have to use a Dual Layer DVD due to the file size. From my reading on these forums it seems the DVD+R DLs are recommended. Single Layer DVDs seems to favor DVD-R for burning. I have heard that the Verbatim brand seems to burn well with consistency. I will try to locate some Verbatim DLs of both types tomorrow unless anyone has other specific suggested media or reasons for the verification failure.

I have a macbook pro using OS 10.7.5
The Disk Utility asks to select files to be burned. I have inserted a DVD however I cannot select the files as they are dimmed as is the "burn" button.
How can I easily burn photo files to a dvd?

Create a new folder on your Desktop. Drag the photos you want to burn to the DVD into this folder. Open Disk Utility and select New > Disk Image From Folder from DU's File menu. Locate the folder in the File selector then click on the Image button. Enter a Save name and location in the File selector. From the Image Format dropdown menu select the desired format. If you want the DVD compatible on Macs and PCs then select the Hybrid option. Set the Encryption option to None.
This will create a disc image in the location selected. The disc image may then be burned to a DVD.
Or, from the Finder's File menu select New Burn Folder. Drag the photos you want to burn into the Burn Folder created. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the Burn Folder and select Burn "Burn Folder" to disc from the context menu. Follow onscreen prompts.

Unable to burn cds or view photos on burned dvd on new (feb 2011) MBP.

I have been unsuccessful in burning photo CDs. It goes through the whole process and then at the end tells me that it was unable to complete the burn. I use my old PC to burn the cds because I need the space on my camera. I forgot about this until today when my photographer gave me a burned DVD of the photos she took of my kids. The MBP says I inserted a blank dvd. I went back to her and she pulled them all up on her PC. I am new to Mac and am feeling like I wasted a ton of money because I have to keep going back to the old pc for all the things I wanted to do on a faster, newer computer

had a similar issue about it "not responding properly" and i went back to apple and got a new superdrive put in and have had no problems since.
