Unable to buy or rent movies

Hello,
I wanted to rent a movie today but was unable to do so - every single movie's rent or buy option was grey, but everything else TV-series, music etc was available. How can I fix this?

Thanks; I just wanted to confirm that you were using a recent version. Some people have been running iTunes 7 and finding that they couldn't connect to the iTunes Store or that some functions didn't work.
Sorry, I don't have any immediate suggestions. Perhaps someone else here will have an idea.

Unable to watch my rented movie on apple TV but it says ive rented it already

Hi can someone help me please ?
I have purchased a Rental in itunes 2days ago, this rental is on my PC and ready to watch, however I would like to watch it on my Apple TV.
To be clear, I have not started watching the movie on any other machine.
Since a recent upgrade of the software on my Apple TV, (and to be fair I havent used the rental facility for a while) I am unable to see my rented movie.
If I find the movie through top movies and try to rent it , it tells me I have already Rented it and am I sure I want to rent it again ? But its not there to watch on Apple TV
Can anyone advice please as its very frustrating. ?

Hi vazandrew, thanks for your help, Ive just checked, both home sharings ie Apple TV and itunes on my laptop, and they were both on , but for the heck of it, I turned them off and back on again. I still have the same problem.
Im looking in purchased films, am I looking in the right place ?

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

I doubt port 80 is blocked, that port is used for http, which you might recognise as the basis for the world wide web.
The message you get can be as a result of an extremely slow Internet connection, you can test your connection speed using speednet.com, however more commonly it's a simple error that can be corrected by unplugging and restarting the Apple TV and/or restarting the router.

No, if you decide to buy it (assuming that it's available to buy in your country) then you will pay the full purchase price, there isn't a discount for having rented it

TS3354 Running Win7/64 on Mac Pro with Bootcamp, unable to buy iTunes HD movies

Hi,
ran into issue with Mac Pro tower connected to dual Apple Cinema 23-inch (final generation) displays. Running Win7/64 SP1 under Bootcamp on second HD; running iTunes latest, and unable to buy HD movie from iTunes store even though have latest Bootcamp drivers and Mountain Lion, and monitors connected via Displayport, Apple HD, and video (ATI Radeon 5700 series).
Is this an issue with iTunes not being able to detect the video card or displays under bootcamp in Windows?

Any suggestion would be helpful. I work during day on my Mac Pro, using Win7/64 most of the time; like to buy stuff on iTunes, like music, etc., and then be able to in living room download to also use with Macbook Pro and a Win7/64 HTPC.
Sorry to see such spotty support for iTunes on Windows 7 these days -- granted it's not their main product line, but still.

as you may or may not know, it doesn't look like the drivers that Apple installs for Windows with bootcamp provides the full control panel, so under the Windows device info all one sees is this:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Everything works, but there is no Radeon control panel, and no way for Windows to see if its HDCP compliant, even thugh it is.
Sadly Apple doesn't provide a proper "Radeon" control panel for Windows, and I've heard of massive problems installing the defacto ATI Windows driver package on Bootcamp, as it might conflict with Bootcamp's drivers. The ATI site doesn't even have a modern download for Bootcamp ... it's up to Apple to provide.
SO, I guess I was trying to see how one could enable the ability for Windows to "see" the display properties (Apple's drivers recognize it as a cinema display, but that's about it).
iTunes won't allow purchase of the HD version -- it will only allow purchase of the SD version.
Perhaps another person using this kind of set-up might weigh in if they have a chance. Not world ending, just one of the minor annoyances with not having the full dirver control panel on Windows, running on Mac Pro HD.

I am unable to play my rented movie

Hi there, I have iTunes for Windows and was watching a rented movie last night and half way through the picture became distorted, then turned off but the sound was still going.
I've tried watching it again, but now it comes up as "This movie cannot be played on this computer".
Can someone please tell me why that's happening, and am I able to get a refund?

Itunes will not let me transfer a rented movie from my desktop to the itouch. Is that correct? Any suggestions?

HT1498 Unable to watch a rented movie from Apple TV!

So frustrating, rent a movie from iTunes on Apple TV and yet it will not download. This has happened multiple times.
I have watched movies before on iTunes, but in the last few weeks they do not download. Have latest software updates, going thru Brighthouse network.
Stated I have rented movie have to click on setting and click download, but I did that but download continues to spin and nothing comes up. I unplugged Apple TV but that did not help.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have rented a movie from iTunes and downloaded it but then was unable to play it please help!

I thought I had a similar problem, but the issue was I had rented the movie on my Mac, then transferred it to my iPad. If you do that, you must have an internet connection on the iPad to start watching the movie. If you rent the movie on your iPad to begin with, you should have no problems starting to play it whenever you want.

I've no idea how it got there .. I think the appservd process just dumped it there .. after I saw this I grep'ed the entire set of files in /opt/SUNW* /var/opt/SUNW* /etc/opt/SUNW* for "hefalump" (my unique 'log' key) and it's not in any log file.
Anyone know what's going on?

Unable to play a rented movie

I've just rented and downloaded a movie from the iTunes store, but it's unplayable. I've tried fiddling with the Quicktime video settings - with DirectX enabled, I get a frame of mangled video and a snippet of audio before my computer locks up totally, with DirectX switched off, I get a ungarbled frame of the movie and a snippet of audio before just iTunes locks up.
Can anyone suggest anything? I've only got 46 hours left before the download expires.
All my software and drivers are up to date, my computer meets the system requirements and I've quit every other running program - any help would be very gratefully recieved!

Hi, I have rented a movie (the butler) on my Ipad 3rd gen, but it refuses to play: not enough storage. I meanwhile deleted all kinds of apps and photos and freed up to 3,6 GB of storage but the movie still will not play.
