Unable to buy songs on after gift card redemption

I just redeemed to gift cards so have credit on my account but now cannot "buy" any songs. I click the "buy" button and nothing happens, I can download free things like podcasts but not purchase anything. There is no error message.
I have trolled the internet looking for a solution and found someone else having the exact same problem but no solution as yet.
In the past I initially only just gift cards to purchase with no problem then recently used a credit card for the first time until then I had no credit card loaded against my account. And have now gone back to using a couple of gift cards.
I have updated iTunes with latest updates which didn't help.
Any help much appreciated as I was hoping to download music for new years eve!!

I find it very misleading that the iTunes gift cards sold in Canada do not clearly state on the packaging that they cannot be used for game and app purchases. This is only listed on the terms and conditions on the website. Sorry, but I didn't think to carry the website with me to the store when I purchased the gift cards for my family members iTouches. Perhaps iTunes should not mislead the customer by stating "use your iTunes cards for music and more. . . . " Very very very disappointed.

Hello, recently I purchased a 20$ gift card for itunes with the intent to buy applications and games for my Ipod touch 8g. But, when I tried to buy super monkey ball I entered my account information and then I entered it again, But this time it took me to a billing info page. There was no payment type option for "Gift Card" so I selected the option 'none'. After I clicked done, all it did was bring me to the page I was at previously, and nothing happened. No money was charged to my account or anything, I even tried it on my Ipod touch's wi-fi and a message came up saying 'You need a method of payment to purchas thise item. Go to the itunes store on your computer and update your info'. I know for a fact that I had 20$ in my account but for some reason I just can't buy any apps or games. I hope this isn't a decision apple made to shut out gift card users from buying applications and games for some reason.

Only thing you can do is contact iTS support and ask for a refund.
Or ask some Canadian gov't consumer place why it's this way and why it changed?

That page doesn't mention buying apps, so I don't think Apple is deliberately misleading...maybe when v7.7 was released and games are now listed under applications, some Canadian cross-border law for software went into effect. I know when I used to ship software to Canada in a previous life, it took way longer to clear customs than other packages.

What happens when you try to redownload them?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
On a computer go to iTunes>Store>View Account>Sign in and go to purchased history and see if you actually purchased them.
Try redeeming the card again

If you are here in the UK then you can only use the UK store - you need to be in a country to use its store. You will either need to put a UK billing address on your account, or create a new account with that address.

I want to see the history of my Gift Card redemptions. I can see the history of my PURCHASES, but not the Gift Cards.
I seem to be missing $35 from my balance (after resetting my password).

Problems with Itunes gift card redemption

My daughter got a gift card for her birthday so she wanted to set up a separate account in her name. She thought she had set it up successfully...after choosing an ID and password she entered her gift card number and it told her the balance on her card...however, when she went to sign in so she could shop it would not recognize her ID or password so I went to help her. I found that it never processed the account, but I never figured out why. I used her same ID and password and went through the steps to set it up right but when I entered her gift card redemption code it said that the card had already been redeemed. She is now in tears and I have no idea how to help her. Is there anyone out there that can tell me what I can do? Im desperate!!!

if your redemtion code is unreadable or being refused you will need to contact iTunes Store Support.

Does anybody know why gift card redemption using the FaceTime camera on my iMac is not an option for me? Im using iTunes 11 in the Australia store on my 2012 iMac with inbuilt FaceTime camera.

Are you perhaps trying to buy a gift for someone else? If so, then you can only pay for a gift via a credit card. Or is it just asking you to update/confirm your billing details? If so, that's a normal security precaution. Just make sure your credit card information is correct and it should then deduct the purchase from your credit balance.

I can't buy a song using a gift card.

I tried to buy a song on iTunes through my iPhone. I was using a gift card, not a credit card. However, when I tried to buy the song it brought me to the billing information page. I clicked "none" for credit card, then "done." Then I was asked if I still wanted to buy the song, so I clicked "yes." However, I was then brought back to the billing information page. I repeated the process, but was brought back, again! It's a continuous loop. Does anyone know what's going on or how to help? All I want to do is buy the song.

I bought a 3rd ipad for my daughter in CA. I synced w/my PC to load some apps since she has no PC. Now I am in Iraq with PC and my iPad. If I buy my her iTunes gift cards, can she buy apps and music w/out using my pin and charging to my Credit card?

I bought another iPad for my daugther. Because she has no PC, I loaded her iPad with apps from My PC. Now she is in Oceanside CA. And I am in Iraq with my iPad and PC.. My question is: How can my daughter load some apps of her own? If I buy her iTunes gift cards, can she redeem them on her iPad with out using my Pin number (as that would give her access to my credit card)! I prefer to gifted her purchases, not allow her to purchase with access to my credit card. Can this be done?

well if the ipad is on your itunes account then her apps and music etc will be billed to you. but if you give her gift cards you should take off your credit card because itunes won't tell you when you are all through with your gifted money and are back to useing your credit card until after you have made a purchase

Cannot play songs purchased with gift card (on my iPod on)

I just purchased the King Kong soundtrack on iTunes with a gift card I received for Christmas. I downloaded the songs onto my laptop and transferred them to my iPod (video, 60 GB). When I try to play the songs on my iPod, they will just be skipped over to the next track. (I can play them off my iPod when it's attached to my laptop, or my G4 tower at home, which is also Authorized).
I've purchased other songs with my account in the past and they play fine. I checked the song info. in iTunes and the account information is identical to the other purchases. The only difference seems to be these were purchased with the gift card (which the file info. doesn't indicate).
What do I need to do? Thank you brilliant folks out there.

Alas, did not work. Tried playing a few songs in iTunes, copied those songs over to the iPod, no dice.
I manually manage my songs on iPod, so I'm hesitant to just auto-sync and see if that would solve it, but I may try that if nothing else works...

Do you have to have a credit card to open an iTunes account? I wanted to give him a gift card to start him off with the iPod as he doesn't have many cd's to load on to it.

Yes, he can create an account and make purchases with gift card.
When he gets the gift card, have him open the iTunes store and click on Redeem at the top right under *Quick links*.
Input the card number then select *Create new account*.
Input the personal info and when it gets to credit card info, select None.
