Unable to Change Main Report Page Orientation in Crystal 10

Hi,
My report has 8 sub reports and every sub report is placed in a report footer section. When I change the page orientation from portrait to landscape, no change in main report. but It does change the sub report paper orientation.
Is it because of the sub reports?
Any Ideas?

Thanks for the reply.
But I was changing whole report to landscape. When I select Default margins, Main report changed to Landscape, earlier adjust aumomatically option was selected in Page setup dialog.That solved my problem.

Of course it unrotates the text if I'm editing the text box, but not when I'm resizing or changing font properties. And when editng the text and there is an image beside it, the image obscures the text which makes editing exasperating. And since I got a table on landscape that exceeds 7.5" width, when trying to edit the last 2 columns,those become invisible on portrait, hence I'm unable to edit. And so has to set the doc to landscape, set to 0-deg, edit, set it again to portrait and 90-deg, and repeat if I happen to need to edit those invisible columns. Really a great and efficient way to write my technical doc! Which you would know IF YOU HAD TRIED IT -don't appreciate your sarcasm!
You can defend this blatant failure all you want but this kind of inadequancy continues because people don't speak up and demand this reasonable function and instead are satisfied with work-arounds that makes things hard for relatively easy task. I'm a systems and applications designer, this is the type of "missing feature" that would cause our app to be rejected by our clients. Surely you realized that because the users demanded, since 10.7, window resizing can be done from all corners instead of just right corners (or was it only bottom right)? I was shocked when I discovered this 2yrs ago when I switched to Mac and started using Snow Leopard. I'm grateful that I can now resize on 4's.

How to stop to display the main report page header in the subreport!

I have an existed report that display the CR page header on every page of the report. Now I added another subreport into report footer without using link. How do I stop to display the main report page header and display the subreport in the new page with subreport header only? I really appreciate your time to help me out on this issue. Thanks.

I tried to supress the page header with (onlastrecord and TotalpageCount > 1) condition, but the last page of main report without page header. I still like the page header display on last record, but not on the subreport only. How do I get it? Thanks in advance.

How to print new main report page based on number of records in subreport?

I've a main report which prints on a pre-printed stationary with 2 subreports in the detail section. The subreport prints multiple records. If there are more than 6 records in the subreports, a new page should be printed with all the contents of the main report and the subreports should continue with the remaining records. How can I do this? I've tried incrementing a shared variable counter in the subreport and accessed that variable in the detail section of the main report to check the counter and reset the counter to 0 if it exceeds 6. But this does not work. All the lines till it can hit page footer are printing on first page and the second page prints only the remaining subreport lines without the other details of the main report page.
The main report page uses a view which returns only 1 record. The subreport returns multiple records.
I would certainly appreciate if any one can provide a solution for this problem.

sorry, i misunderstood exactly what you wanted.
let me get this straight...
1) if there's more than 6 records in the subreport then show only the first 6 records
2) then (if there's more than 6 records) do a new page after the subreport
3) then (if there's more than 6 records) show the subreport's remaining records and the rest of the report
let know if i've got it straight.
if that is correct, you will have received another sample report that does this. in total 3 subreports are used...one is a dummy report that adds up the number of records which is used later. there's more info on the report's design mode.

How can I change the page orientation when printing from portrait to landscape?

By setting the print size -- ie rather than 6x4 use 4x6 - and to avoid unwanted cropping you need to crop the photo to the target ratio before printing ( you can undo the crop after printing if you do not want it to be permanent)

How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem. I have a main report and then 8 sub reports. My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number. One
of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf. My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value. The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts. If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
for all the accounts requested visible at once:
=IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
*The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD is different for each sub report.

According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
to the following steps:
1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
=Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
=IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.

How to get the Report Page count using crystal reports 2008

Hi,
I have to implement a business logic where in i will have to display the no. of pages generated for the report
Say for e.g. crytal report that's generated spans 25 pages in the report.
Then i will have to display a message to the user after the report generation something like "25 Pages generated"
So, how would i get this report page count so that i can fetch the value and display the same to the user.
Any sample code snippet would be of great help.

I am using crystal reports 2008 and i visited the link forwarded in your previous mail and got the solution for getting the lastpagenumber of the report.
nPages = crReport.FormatEngine.GetLastPageNumber(New CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportPageRequestContext)
but, i don't find FormatEngine property for ReportDocument object.
I just wanted to know whether this property is availale in crystal reports 2008 or should i even install any service packs for this.

Unable to change margins in Pages 5.2

Hello - I am drafting a resume using one of the Pages templates. I would like to change the right margin so that there is more room for text (less white space on the right side), but am unable to do so. The ruler slide will move to make the margin WIDER, but not NARROWER, which is what I want. I have tried:
1. "unlocking" the document via the Arrange menu (not an option);
2. changing the document margins via the Inspector/Document menu - right margin is already set to zero, but the space on the actual document is a couple inches wide;
3. changing the column width via the Format/Layout menu - each time I try to do this, the width immediately reverts to what it was prior to my changing it.
This is maddening. As much as I love Mac, I feel Pages is not very user friendly, and that's coming from someone with and advanced education who is fairly computer literate. If possible, I would prefer not to have to make a whole new document. Help? Thanks.

Page number always start with 1 if you want to your page number to start with 5 then try this formula in place of your page number special field :
Whileprintingrecords;
Numbervar x:=4;
x:=x+1;
This will print 5 on your first page.

Unable To Print or Access Page Setup in Crystal Reports 2008

I have Win 7 32 bit, and installed Crystal Reports 2008 last week (v12.0.0.683 from the Help window).
Every time I open a report, and from the Preview tab clicking File -> Print, or File - > Page Setup, I immediately receive a Windows message that "Crystal Reports has stopped working". After a few seconds, another Windows message displays "Crystal Reports has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". Then Crystal completely closes.
I downloaded sample reports from the BO website, and still receive the error, so I don't think it's the report.
When I view the Event Log, I see the following:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled CR 2008 multiple times and continue to receive the same error. I tried updating to SP1 (Version 12.1.0.892 Incremental) but I receive the following error: "A BusinessObjects product at a lower patch level is detected. The installation cannot continue. Please update all installed products to the SP1 patch level, then restart this installation".
Need to print my reports - any ideas?

Note the MS Kabse on where the printer registry is. Now the odd part is on one of my test development PC's it won't populate the Default User Printer list, only the Local User Printers. I take this same app to another PC and it works just fine. The register keys are there but for some reason on my Windows 7 64 bit it won't show them, the other strange part is I have full access to both keys. I have not been able to figure out why this happens...
I'm thinking this may be related to your issue.... But I don't have a solution, very strange... I've even gone into regedit32 and set full permissions on the various keys and it still doesn't work...
I have other VM-ware images if I need to get past that part for testing so I never drilled into why, I believe it has to be some Windows/Firewall/Anti-virus configuration or something our IT department pushed into my local Profile.... What that is I don't know unfortunately.
I'll do some looking and testing. You may want to post this on Microsoft forums as well.... Ask about printer permissions.

How can I change the printer page orientation from vertical to horizontal?

I cannot seem to find a way to get the desired page to print horizontally instead of vertically as it normally does. Can I do this; how?
Currently, Family Tree Maker is the app in which I'm having this problem. I want to print a census report in "landscape" instead of "portrait."

If so, select Landscape and then Print from that Preview window.

Change Default Page Orientation

After fiddling a bit with the settings in Ambrosia's Easy Envelopes (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/easyenvelopes/) I now find that that the default orientation on the printer dialog is always landscape.
How do I change the default page orientation on either the Standard or a saved preset from landscape to portrait? (Yes, for a saved preset I tried clicking on the portrait image and selected "save" but that didn't change what was selected the next time.)

I am not sure what the Ambrosia software set, but the page format information - scale, orientation, and paper size - aren't saved in the presets you mentioned or when saving a new preset.
You could try deleting the com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist file from your home's Library/Preferences folder. Or you could use TextEdit to reset the orientation by bringing up the Page Setup dialog and changing the orientation to portrait and selecting Settings->Save as Default.

Dashboard for InfoView. Remove "Main Report" Tab from Crystal Report

When defining a Dashboard for InfoView I would like to be able to display a chart contained in a report without it being in any container. I can remove everything except the Tab Control showing "Main Report". If this cannot be removed then I would like to change "Main Report" to the title of my chart.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When adding a report onto a Dashboard, there should be the option to display it in Full mode, Compact mode, or Report Part mode.
Try right-clicking on the Report Part in your report and and see if it gives you the option to select just the chart. I know this option is available in Web Intelligence, but am not certain is Crystal Reports offer the same functionality.
If you've already selected the Report Part and just have formatting issues, then it should be done on the Crystal Report itself. Make sure that only the chart is included in the part, like Jacquez says.

Crystal report(Can i link sub report and main report Compulsorily) - invalid path

i need small clarification.
i am developing one Crystal report
main report i took it from rdr1 one table...
report is working fine..
Sub report i took it from inv1 one table.
i have not linked any fields from these tables.
May be it is having links in b1..
but in my other report both the tables.... from main report and sub report does not have any relation.
My Questions is..
Can i Compulsorily link fields to main report...
if both does not have any relation what should i do...
i took two tables.
main report rdr1
sub report inv1...
if i run the report it is asking two parameters one is for sub report and other one for main report working find in crystal report.
but...i want to run the report in b1.
while importing i am getting the error (Plz have a look on below image)
if i choose any other report it is importing fine...
Clearly i am mentioning i dont want to link both tables there is no links between two reports...
in this scenario can develop a report..
