Unable to change setings, was in Siri, got 'jammed'

This 'Senior' got jammed-up. Unable to change settings, settings unresponsive and am stuck in Siri. Problem happened IN SIRI, now can't change settings to even access the Siri option.
SETTINGS WON'T LET ME ACCESS OPTIONS 'below level of Wallpaper'. Swipe won'r allow to go to any other screen in settings.
This happened in SIRI and I can't even disable 'turn-off' Siri
Unable to close applications on bottom of screen as well, as usually done.
The 'voice mode' is on, and that is what jammed everything up.
The only appications which show 'open on screen are' Messages,Phone, Settings and Safari, Mail, Music, and I am prevented from 'closing them'.
I did a turn-off, began again with the apple logo but can't reset.
Can't get past the first screen in my apps.
I BELIEVE it is a SIRI problem but can't change settings other than 'Airplane Mode through Wallpaper.'
I bet there is someone who would help a 'Grandma'!
What on Earth IS wrong?!!! and how can I get 'out of it' without going to the Apple Store.
Tiny store ,International Record as "Smallest Apple Store in the World", Santa Rosa, California..and they aren't much interested in giving-up that claim to fame!

Immediate help from randers4 got me 'back in business'. I would have not beieved I could have done this without a trip to the store and a distant appointment date.
Things seemed messed-up beyond my ability to affect any change!
Alone, this would not have been possible. I feel I learned a great deal about the IOS 5 system's Siri quirks.

What is your Aperture version? The older versions of Aperture 3 had a problem to apply Metadata changes to the original file.
If you are using the current version Aperture 3.4.5, try to repair the permissions on your Aperture library, if you have not already done so:
Launch Aperture with the key combination ⌥⌘ held down and select "Repair Permissions" from the First Aid PAnel, that will appear.
If that does not help, post back with more information on your original files - are the referenced or managed? Where is your Aperture library located? Since when do you have this problem? And what did you do directly before noticed the problem for the first time?

You will have to go down the route of a Restore. Please read carefully the links therein with regard to using a different different computer from that with which you normally sync.

The option to change the gender isn't there??

The ability to change Siri's gender is tied to the Language setting. For example, English (United Kingdom) doesn't have this option, but English (United States) does. Reset the language and you should be able to change the gender, if the feature is available for the specific language.

If the thief or someone set up an Apple ID on the iPhone and hence Activation Lock, there's no way you can unlock it. That would require that Apple ID and password and it's not likely the thief is going to provide that information. Call Apple Support and ask if there's anything they can do to help. You'll almost certainly need to provide proof of ownership and possibly a copy of the police report, but it's possible in this situation that they can do something for you, though in most cases of an Activation Lock they can't.

today I found out theres a new driver. After downloading, I uninstalled my old creative drivers and programs properly and after that I cleaned with Driver Sweeper 2..0.
After installing the new driver, I first couldnt use the soundblaster. It was just gone, the windows was empty. Then I deinstalled the driver like the old and reinstalled it.
This time, I can go to the soundblaster options, but, when I want to change my encoder, the program crashes with a message like this "Creative audio console launcher stopped working".
So, now I am here with no sound at all.
Btw, installing the old driver also doesnt work anymore. I am clueless.

Unable to change Date Created in Metadata

Please help with my first post...
Unable to change Date Created field in Metadata.
I am a newspaper photographer sending .jpg pics with captions to my office from my iMac. They are viewed at the office on Windows PCs using SCC MediaGrid.
When changing Date Created in Metadata Invalid Format warning appears "Format should be ISO 8601 XML compliant, that is YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm[:ss][tz] (eg 2006-07-11T13:14:30-07:00)"
If 2009-09-26, for example, is entered then exported pictures opened up in Photoshop or shown on SCC MediaGrid do not display the date.
To get dates to show up I first have to open a pic in Photoshop, go to File Info, enter 26/9/09 in Date Created and Save As.
Next I have to Import this into Aperture where the Date Created shows as "20090926".
Using Lift Metadata and Stamp Metadata the date can be transferred to other pics.
Now when I export these pics the date does show up in Photoshop and SCC MediaGrid.
Can Date Created be typed straight into field in Aperture?...Very important when pics go into archive on a server.
Also if I hit Return key in a Metadata Caption, to type on the next line, both lines will appear as one with a small square in-between them when viewed on SCC MediaGrid on a Windows PC.

Nick I don't generallt use the IPTC metadata, so I'm not sure I will be too much help.
What version of Aperture are you using? I tried both things and I didn't have any problems with the latest version of Aperture on my Mac.
I was able to enter a date into "Date Created" both with and without the time-zone adjustment. Can you tell us the exact string you tried to enter into the "Date Created" and exactly when you get the error? I tried to enter my time zone (eastern US) as "-5:00", but Aperture wouldn't let me enter the 5 and popped up the error message when I typed that key. I had to use "-05:00".
As for the caption, when I hit return, Aperture ends my edit. I cannot reproduce your described behavior of actually getting a new-line into the field. I suspect your problem (although I don't know how you get to your problem) is one of the following:
1) The IPTC standard doesn't tell if the software should use a Unix-style end-of-line (which is a line-feed), or a DOS/Windows style end-of-line (which is carriage-return followed by line-feed). Aperture may put in the Unix-style and your Windows programs don't know what to do with it.
2) The IPTC standard does indicate the end-of-line style, but either Aperture or your other programs don't follow it.
or
3) IPTC Metadata doesn't actually support end-of-line, so Aperture should not allow you to enter multiple lines, but it has a bug so it does allow you to do that.
Can you tell us where exactly you are editing the caption? I tried it in the inspector pane (on the left) in the "Metadata" tab, and then I hit the "IPTC" button at the bottom of the tab.

Unable to change status in messages

Hey guys,
Okay, so I am unable to change my status in messages or do anything for that matter.
My friends messages app looks different then mine and she actually has more options then me. It will not let me set to online status or anything, it's like disabled and I cannot figure it out. Also when I send a message from my mac, it will say my email when my friend recieves the message but then if I send it from my iphone it says my number, so it starts two different conversations.
This is annoying and when I called tech support they had no idea what I was talking about.

The new Messages app in Mountain Lion has two aspects. It integrates most of the features of the old iChat program (using AOL and Jabber transport mechanisms among others, which include the concept of on/offline status) with Apple's new iMessage transport mechanism (which doesn't).
Your phone-to-phone message are probably going through yet a third transport mechanism, SMS. You can set your phone to use iMessage transport to eligible recipients by going to Settings > Messages, turning iMessage to "ON", and including your AppleID (~email address) in "Receive At" along with your phone number.
We are told that when iOS6 is released this fall it may help combine the multiple conversations. It is not yet clear how.

Unable to change text size

So I have been unable to change my text size in itunes. When i switch between "large" and "small" text sizes the size remains the same, however the size of the menus and the itunes stores is small. I theorize it was probably some program I installed but since I am nearly constantly adding and removing programs I can't pinpoint which one it was. If anyone can tell me how to fix it or point me in the right direction that would be great. I am including my system info as well as a screen of itune. Thanks.

Unable to change apple ID location

I was trying to make a purchase recently, but a message telling me I needed to update my billing info came up. For some reason, my country is listed as China (I live in Canada, I've never even been to China). I tried changing my country back, but I am unable to. I get to the "choose your country or region" page, and it says "You need a valid method of payment and billing address for a country in which iTunes is available. Please select a country from the lis below. If a country is not listed, it means iTunes is not available in that country yet."
The problem is, there is no list to choose from. The page is blank, aside from that message. Ive tried restarting my ipad, logging out, but the page is always blank. I'm not even sure how my country was changed from Canada to China in the first place, but now I am unable to change it back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are doing it via the iTunes & App Store option in Settings, then once you click on your AppleID, and then click on View AppleID>Country/Region>Change Country or Region, then you also need to click on "Store" where it is showing China right now.
Once you click on "Store" it will then display the list, and you can scroll down to Canada.
That should fix you up.
But you are really going to have to do something about that sleepwalking problem!!!

Unable to change screensaver

I changed my screensaver to the itunes album art slideshow the day I got my macbook pro. I have been unable to change it since then.
Going through system preferences, then clicking "desktop and screensaver" will bring me to the window where I should be able to change the screensaver. However, ther preview window is empty and the list of available screen savers in not populated. Within second the window closes itself and the following message appears: "The applicatio System Preferences quit unexpectadly."
Choosing any of the options "close," "report," or "reopen" and trying again yeilds the same results.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter ~/Library/Preferences/ as the folder's location. When this folder has appeared, move the item named com.apple.desktop.plist to the desktop. Next, open the ByHost folder inside and move anything which has a name containing screensaver inside to the desktop as well. If everything works properly after moving those files, throw them away.

I have two Apple ID's attached to my iPad and I'm unable to change one

I wanted change my Apple ID username and email address but Apple makes me create a new ID because I can't change my username, so I created a new Apple ID. When I added it to the iPad, I didn't reallize it would make it an additional ID instead of just switch me over, so now I have apps I can't update or remove without signing into the old Apple ID. How do I move the apps over to the new ID? I don't want to keep getting prompted to sign into the old one.
Also, I'm unable to change my email address on Apple's site. I go into Account and edit where it shows my email, but it just asks my security questions and makes me submit my credit card's Security Code (what?!) even though I'm not making a purchase, and there was no option to update the email address! This has really been the most difficult experience I've had trying to change an email address and it's really easy in Android Market.

Apparently this was too long for anybody to read so I'll just leave a nice little two-sentence question.

Hello, I'm unable to change my Administrator password.
Computer model: MacBook Pro (mid 2012), not Retina.
OS: OS X Mountain Lion.
There's a network account server in my settings.
Admin account info: Admin, Managed, Mobile.
I have tried to change the password via System Settings and via Terminal (passwd command line).
When I try to change it in the Terminal, it just echoes out "passwd: general failure".

Oh, okay.
I was once able to change the password, and then I changed the password of my account in their Microsoft Exchange Server.
And after that, I was unable to change the password on my Mac.

Unable to change wireless security settings on WRT54GS v5.1

I'm using a WRT54GS v.5.1 with the latest firmware (v1.50.9).
Set this up this weekend - all was fine until last night when the router stopped broadcasting the signal. I've reset the modem countless times and powered it down and back on again.
The router is now working fine - but I'm unable to change any of the wireless security settings. When I try to change the setting under Wireless > Wireless Security to WEP, it just jumps back to Disable and no changes can me made. Same situation when trying to enable a Wireless MAC Filter?
Any ideas? I don't want to use the router without any security in place!

make sure to select the correct model and version of your router. if you cant see the model # of your router as one of the downloads, you will need to have the router replace (hope you'll not).

Unable to change WINS workgroup on new Macbook Air (Lion)

Hi all,
Just brought home a new Macbook Air 13. Was loving it until I started digging into networking.
Have found that i am unable to change the default workgroup in the WINS tab of networking. The default is simply "WORKGROUP"
In the automatic profile it is greyed out, but lets you type in a different name. That change is not saved though and is immediately discarded when you click OK.
Through some online research i found that others who have had this problem solved it by recreating that automatic profile and changing the name in the new one they create. When I do that, the workgroup name is no longer greyed out, but changing it is still not saved. As soon as I click on OK, the changes are immediately reverted.
I also found some advice online that suggested I needed to tweak setting in the Directory Access utility which could be found in Applications > Utilities. I found no such utility. Wiki states it was renamed to Directory Utility, but that was not there either. I did however find a 'directory utility' in System > Library > Core Services. Opening that showed the following services: Active Directory, LDAPv3, and NIS.
No SMB or CIS which I am assuming are the services required for WINS and workgroup related settings.
Any thoughts?

This might be a timing or propagation issue.
The settings I tried all last night to "save" - suddenly took hold sometime this morning. I made a lot of changes and did a lot of tests, wish I could tell you which one finally did the trick... but given the 8 hours it took to kick in there is simply no way for me to know.
