Unable to check plugins for 2 weeks now-error message-went to "help" & was warned I am using outdated version-so went to update but not available....any ideas? I am computer literate so you don't have to over-simplify your answer ; ) Thanks!

I keep rec. an error message every time I try to do a plugin check. It says "error finding service" and asks me to try again later. I have been trying for a couple weeks now and still get the same error. I clicked on "help" and was brought to a page that told me I am using an "insecure version" of Firefox....(LOL "INsecure...like it's scared, not sure what to do?? Shouldn't that be UNsecure?) Anyway, I thought I had the most recent version but maybe not so I clicked on the link to update Firefox. That took me to a page that told me all about how Firefox automatically updates unless I opt for it NOT to do this (I have not opted out of this feature) etc etc etc.....and there is no button to click to update now. I am unable to rectify this problem and I think some of the plugins ARE out of date but because of the error message I keep getting I can't check on them or update them. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Copying failed because you don't have permissions to change your iTunes me-

This is what it says: Copying failed because you don't have permissions to change your itunes media folder or a folder within it
I'm using iTunes media consolidation procedure to copy all media files from the existing folder on an external Lacie 180 GB firewire 400 to an external Hitachi duo pro 2TB firewire 400 that has a raid feature which is switch to 1 (essentially it does 2 copies on both disks at the same time)
It won't even copy a single file. I've tried to copy other stuff from the internal hard disk to the new 2TB disk and copies fine (5GB folder full of software). It only does this with iTunes.

I did what you suggested on all three folders: The main Music folder on the Mac hard disk, on the iTunes folder on the external 160GB Hard drive which contains the current media content and on the new 2TB hard disk on which I created a new media folder. I selected permission for myself which were already read+write and chose the apply to enclosed items on all three folders. I then changed the permission for others to read+write and applied to enclose items also an all three folders.
    But it didn't solve anything.
Here's what happens: I choose the new directory in iTunes preferences (the media folder on the 2TB disk) I then go to File > Library > Organize Library and then choose Consolidate files. A window pops up and says copying "filename" with a progression bar underneath but the filename never changes. Instead the beachball appears when the mouse pointer hoovers over iTunes. Upon pressing the iTunes icon in the Dock it says that iTunes is not responding. At this point there's 2 different ways:
A - If I then force quit iTunes the iTunes window disappears but the application does not close. When I want to eject the 2TB disk it says it's being used by another application. Only when I cut the power to the 2TB disk does iTunes fully close. A window then pops up and says that the drive was not put away properly etc.
B - if I cut the power to the drive without force quitting iTunes, a window appears with the said: "Copying failed because you don't have permissions to change iTunes media folders etc." iTunes remains open and fully functional.

    Im getting ModName: webkit.dll
    and ModVer: 5.33.18.1
Taken at face value, you've got trouble with an Apple Application Support program file. (iTunes requires a properly functioning Apple Application Support in order to work correctly.) So for that one you'll need to uninstall both iTunes and Apple Application Support and then reinstall iTunes (which normally would reinstall AAS).
I also like to take a few other explicit precautions along the way (just in case). See the following post for instructions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11901253&#11901253
(Although those instructions are for a 32-bit Vista, they're pretty much identical for XP. Just read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove Programs control panel" and "Computer" as "My Computer".)

  • Why am I getting error"403" when I enter an Apple appointment via one to one or Apple confirmation email, but not on any other ical icon non apple additions?

Whenever I add a one to one Apple class from my one to one site and click the ical icon, I get the following error message. I also get it when I click on the ical icon from the Apple email confirming my appointment to add to my calendar on my Mac Book Pro. But, when I clcik an ical icon from say, Open Table, for a reservation I do not get the error. At the Apple store, they tried it and saw they got the same erro on their laptops as well. I notified as did the Apple store over two weeks ago, but nothing has changed.

  • Messages - Is there any way to resend texts automatically when you don't have signal, rather than having to constantly manually 'try again'?

When i have no signal and send a text, a red circle appears, prompting me to manually resend the text when i find signal. I live in an area with varied signal so this is beginning to get frustrating. Is there any way to set the iphone so it will automatically resend the text when it finds signal again, rather than having to manually resend it everytime? Thanks

  • My Photoshop CS6 Help does not go anywhere.  How do I get Photoshop to add Updates when Help does not function?  Help functions in all of my non-Adobe applications, but not  in any of the applications of Master Suite CS6.  None have received any updates s

    Does anyone have any advice?

Try a reinstall to fix files that may have been damaged.
If you need an installer for your suite, go here. Have your serial number ready and qualifying upgrade serial number ready.
    Download CS6 products

  • App Store is showing a count for updates but not displaying any apps that need to be updated

The App Store icon is displaying a count for apps to blue updated, when I open the app and click on Updates nothing is being displayed.  I've tried a hard reboot and have tried to sync and it has still not corrected itself.

It's a long running glitch, as the hundreds of threads on this topic demonstrate.
You can wait it out and wait for Apple to fix the servers or you can go into your purchased tab and manually download each update (you'll find the app icons with little update banners on them.
Alternatively, if you sync with a computer, you can use the iTunes on your computer to download the updates then sync them onto your device.

  • Issue Migrating iTunes Library to NAS - ... you don't have permission...

I have set up a Buffalo Linkstation Duo Nas with 2TB of usable space (4TB Raid 1) on my home network and it seems to be working fine.
I created a Share folder for Video (which I don't use with iTunes) and another for iTunes Media.
The 600GB of Video that I had on my Mac Pro transferred over just fine, but I am having trouble migrating my iTunes Media over.
According to some posts I've read, the best way to do so is to point iTunes to the new disk in Preferences, then and then do a:
    File>Library>Organize Library>tick Consolidate Files>OK
This was going smoothly until about a half hour (5GB) into the transfer (of ~200GB) and I got an error dialog that says:
"Copying files failed, because you don't have permission to change your iTunes Media Folder or a folder within it."
(the comma is iTunes' typo, not mine)
It doesn't say whether the issue is with the new iTunes Media Folder or the original one.
After using Get Info to check the permissions on the iTunes Media Folder and all the folders immediately inside of it, they all seemed to be read/writable by me.
I ran a Permissions Repair on my main HD with the original iTunes library, but that didn't help.
I can manually copy files to the NAS drive and the shared folder to which I'm attempting place the new iTunes Media Library. So I don't think it is an issue with the NAS.
... and yes, I've tried switching everything off and on.
Would anyone like to take a guess as to what the issue with the permission would be?
    -or-
Can I just manually copy everything over to the NAS and then redirect iTunes to the new folder?
Judging by what did transfer over to the NAS, iTunes seems to be reorganizing a few of the folders and things so it would be nice to let iTunes do the migrating... but... whatever works is fine.

    Solved independently.
I had some videos that were not being managed by iTunes on an external drive which had screwy permissions.... so it wasn't the iTunes Media Folder that was the permission issue, but the oddball folder on a faulty drive.
I removed the offending videos from iTunes and tried again. The entire library consolidated nicely onto the NAS drive (took 18 hrs. though)
Now I just need to figure out the best way to share that library with all the computers on the network. From what I've been reading, it is not as simple as just pointing all the Macs' iTunes to the iTunes Folder on the NAS drive - There are artwork issues and problems with using the same Library simultaneously between Macs.
.... But that's for another discussion.
