Unable to choose save as feature in pages
Hello,
I have pages for macbook pro and it doesn't give me the save as option to choose from the file menu. Any suggestions?
MacDeven
Hold down the option key as you select the File menu.
This is now an OSX feature, not Pages.

Safari is unable to save in HTML (source page option) offline webarchives
Hello!
Some years ago I made a very difficult and prolonged research: I found over 1500 web pages of medical researches and I stored it on the hard disk, using safari.
I didn't know that its default format file is .webarchive.
Now I have these 1500 .webarchive files and I need to use it on other PCs (also Windows and Linux systems), and they take 800 MB on my pendrive! (webarchive are bigger than imageless html files).
I need to convert them in HTML format.
Only 3 methods exist in the world:
1) from terminal: textutil -convert html FILENAME.webarchive. I drag and drop 10 files a time in the webarchive window after the command string, but it converts about 5-6 files on 10: for the other it gives an error. Some files are impossible to convert using this method.
2) WebArchive folderizer: I could drag and drop all the webarchive files on its small window: it will convert each webarchive file in a folder with the same name of the file. Then I could select all the folders, use FINDER's search function letting it find just HTML files and then move them in a folder and delete all the subfolders.
But the HTML files extracted do not keep the original filename! This is important for me, because I need that each file must have the name of the medical research. I'll have to find (reading a list made in neooffice) the files and read them: over 1500 files, and it will need lots of time make an internal file text search method each time!
3) Webarcher: it converts the files in .war format, not html. It is compatible with Windows, but it keeps the images, like a webarchive, and the space requied is high too.
The method that I could use is this:
Open the file with Safari in OSX, and re-save it in the "source page" (HTML) format... but.... SURPRISE!!!
If I open a web-page with Safari, and I choose "save as...", it let me choose the format (html or webarchive).
If I open a hard disk stored page with Safari, and I choose "save as...", the small menu in which I should choice the format... disappears!!!
This happened years ago... now the OS X is newer... the Safari is newer... but the problem is the same!
How could I solve it?
Is this a bug?
Thank you!Since Safari is able to save as HTML file a page if it is opened online (from web), making "Save as...", and it is unable to make so if the webarchive file is on the hard disk...I tried to upload on a web server some .webarchive files.
Then I went online in the web page with the list of all the uploaded .webarchive files... (ex.: http://....filename1.webarchive, etc...)...
My goal was to open ONLINE (not on hard disk) the files and then make "save as...",... but... SURPRISE!!! Safari is UNABLE to open a webarchive file from the web, it asks me where to save the file... it can only save it, it writes that it is an "application"...
I think this happens because .webarchive is not a real web page but a "package"... but my displeasure is this:
Once opened an hard disk's webarchive file, its content is loaded in ram and it appears like a normal web page (html + images + etc...)... so, in this moment, Safari should be able to save it "as...." HTML file too.... discarding images and other objects....
Any advice?
Thank you!!! -
Save as RTF-feature in Pages 09
I work a lot with DEVONthink Pro Office, a tool for ordering, categorizing and searching content (mostly documents for me). Unfortunately, while DTPO shows pages files and can even search them, the integration is not complete and leaves something to be desired.
Working with rtf-files, though, is no problem. Now, when I write in Pages 09, I save my working very often, I usually hit the cmd+s combination on my keyboard after each sentence I write. This, of course, does not work when you want to save as an rtf-file. I have to take the long way of selecting "Export" from the file menu, select "RTF", select location etc. I don't have the foggiest idea why Apple don't just implement a direct "Save-to-RTF" feature in Pages, just as is normal in pretty much all other word processors, but hey, that's just my opinion and, knowing Apple, I do not anticipate any changes soon.
So my question is: Is there some kind of work-around? Some kind of keyboard shortcut? Possibly an automator action?
Cheers and thanks for any help givenPerhaps the reason why the other poster suggested not using Pages for RTF export is that it can make a mess of things. You mentioned citations, and I use legal citations in footnotes. Well if I export a document in RTF format in Pages and then import back into Pages (or something else, OpenOffice or MSWord) the footnotes are a mess.
Pages does a good job (for me) exporting in .doc format, but it .rtf export function is rather awful (again for me).
If Pages does a good job of exporting documents having footnotes in RTF for you, then I would be curious as to what version of Pages you are using. I am using 4.0.4. -

Save as feature has disappeared from the drop down menu in Pages.
I can no longer SAVE AS feature. Is this an upgrade problem?
Press the Option/Alt key when you click on the File menu.

How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?
How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?
It took me awhile but I found what I was looking for. This is posted at http://www.tuaw.com/2012/07/29/get-save-as-back-on-mountain-lions-file-menu-easi ly-and-without/
Option 1. Terminal.app If you are comfortable using Terminal.app, you can add a different keyboard shortcut this with one simple line. First, quit all your apps except Finder and Terminal. Then paste this command (as one line) into Terminal.app (and press Return):
1
defaults write -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add 'Save As...' '@$S'
view rawdwrite-global-saveas.sh hosted with ❤ by GitHub
That's it!
Launch TextEdit and open the 'File' menu and you should see "Save As..." back in its rightful spot with its original Command + Shift + S shortcut, as shown in the image above.
Aside: After you enter the 'defaults write' command, you will not see any confirmation that it was entered correctly. Terminal.app is a little terse sometimes. If you want to verify it from the command-line, enter this:
defaults read -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents
and look for "Save As..." = "@$s"; in the output.
Option 2. System Preferences.app If you would rather not use Terminal, it's still very easy to add the keyboard shortcut.
Launch the System Preferences.app, then open the "Keyboard" preference pane.
At the top you will see "Keyboard" and "Keyboard Shortcuts" – click "Keyboard Shortcuts" (labeled '1' below). Then in the list on the left side, click "Application Shortcuts" (labeled '2' below). Then click the "+" button (labeled '3' below):
Once you press that "+" button, a small window will appear asking you to enter the title of the menu item and the keyboard shortcut that you want to use.
Enter "Save As..." in the "Menu Title:" field, and then press the keyboard shortcut that you want to use. In the example below I pressed Command + Shift + S:
Note: It used to be true that you had to enter an actual ellipsis (which you can get by pressing Option+ ; on a US-English keyboard). However, when I tested this in Mac OS X 10.8.2, it worked with three consecutive periods.
Bonus Tip: Hide the "Duplicate" menu item.
In my original article I suggested that you also enter a keyboard shortcut for "Duplicate" and while youcan do that if you wish, you do not need to do that.
However, if you would like to hide the Duplicate menu item, you can do that. There are two steps: first, remap "Save As..." to Command + Shift + S (as shown above). Then the 'trick' is to remap "Duplicate" to Command + Shift + Option + S.
What you will have done is swap the keyboard shortcuts for "Duplicate" and "Save As..." which means that OS X will make "Duplicate" the optional command. If you open the "File" menu and hold down "Option" the "Save As..." command will change to "Duplicate"
(Thanks to TUAW reader 'rbascuas' for pointing this out in response to the original article!)
Important Addendum: "Keep changes in original document"
As we reported in August 2012, the "Save As..." command in early versions of 10.8 had an unexpected and likely unwanted side effect in Mountain Lion: it would save the changes in the new document (created by "Save As...") but would also save the changes to the original document.
However, Apple realized that users might not want that behavior, so in Mac OS X 10.8.2 they added an option "Keep changes in original document" which you can see here:
Option A: If you want to save the changes you've made in the document and then save the document with a different name, then make sure that the box is checked.
Option B: If you want your original document to stay as it was when you last saved it and create a new document based on the modified content of that document, then make sure that box is not checked.
If you do not see the 'Keep changes in original document' box, then the application is probablygoing to give you the "Option B" behavior, but if you are not sure, I would suggest choosing Cancel in the "Save" dialog, then copy and paste the contents of the document into a new file, and save the new file. I know that's several extra-and-less-convenient steps, but if you are worried about preserving the original document, better safe than sorry.
You could also save the file, duplicate it in Finder, and rename the new instance. Open old file and revert to previous save using 'Versions'.
Frankly,I wish that Apple had just left the "Save As..." command alone, but for some reason they didn't ask my opinion. That said, I'm glad that they brought it back in Mountain Lion. I would have paid $20 for that feature alone.
Note: This article was re-written and republished on 2013–02–21. The original process still works, but I wanted to update it to reflect some additional information. -
Where did the "save as" feature go?
I just opened up a Pages document, after my Lion upgrade. I want to use the orginal document, make changes and save as a new document. However, when I clicked on "File" to go to the "Save As," I discovered it is no longer there. Where is the "Save As" feature now. This is, obviously, a crucial need.
Pondini wrote:
In most cases, though, you don't need a separate file. Just make a Version with Cmd+S.
Much faster, and takes up much less space, since it only saves the changes, not the whole document.
As a work machine processing files, folders, and graphics, in many cases I do, everyday.
Changing file name and format and still have the original to work with.
Seems crazy to me.

Adobe Reader 11 "choose paper source by pdf page size" does not work
Hello,
I have a user that utilizes the "choose paper source by pdf page size" option when printing a PDFs. He has a PDF that has a letter sized page and a legal sized page.
I recently upgraded his Adobe Reader from 10 to 11 and now that option isn't working for him. The printer is an HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP.
Are their any bugs regarding that feature in the new Adobe Reader?
Thanks! If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

When I go to my Juno on the web through Firefox, I am unable to use the tool features such as:
Font size / Color
Bolding
Italics
Bullets
Highlighting
just to name a few. Yet when I bring it up through Internet Explorer these features work, plus the way Firefox reads my Juno the tabs are distorted (the page is not formatted correctly, I contacted Juno they said I should contact my modem company AT& T they said no so you are my last resort.. Please help resolve my issue, THANK YOU in advance for assisting with this matter. It is up to Juno to enable Midas, the Rich Text Editor which is built into Firefox, with one little line of code on every web page that has RTE for IE. There's nothing that you can do to turn that feature on your self, it has to be coded on each web page that has Rich Text Editing.
http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midas-spec.html <br />
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Midas
Their ignorance probably lies with their staff programmers only knowing how to do it for IE ''(their training and certificates are probably from the Microsoft cabal)'', and not realizing that Gecko and WebKit apps each have their own Rich Text Editor's, which require their own small line of code to enable those Editor's. -
Acrobat 9 "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" prints as thumbnail
I have a customer who is trying to print a document that has different page sizes, eg. p.1 is 8 x 11, p.2 is 11 x 17. He can select the page size manually and everything works as expected. If you put a check mark in "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" it prints as backward thumbnails on 8 x 11. Selecting "print as image" makes it fill the page, but only prints on 8 x 11. Changing the printer driver to PCL did not fix, nor did installing an updated PS driver. All updates have been installed. I called tech support and they basically just gave me link to the script they use during troubleshooting. I also did a google search, but haven't come up with a valid answer. It is Acrobat 9 Standard on Win XP. Any advice is good advice.
It's a Windows only feature: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332720.html#main_Mixed_sizes

Unable to use Save As Version in CS2 running a MAC G5 10.4.6 2GB DDR SDRM. Attempting use Version Cue and Bridge but unable to do a Save As Version because it is greyed out. Have reloaded ran updates etc. etc. I don't normal use bridge to work on a project but recently watched the video training and felt it offered several features of use, but need to be able to save as version. Sherry C
You must first create a version cue project. In bridge Tools>Version Cue>New Project...
Create a file and save it (or make a copy) in the folder you saved in the Version Cue workspace(The version cue workspace must be ON), which is default c:\program files\adobe\adobe version cue cs2\data
now you can save versions of this document.

JamilHi!
May you try to open your form, compile all pl/sql (shift-ctrl-k) and compile the form (ctrl-t).
Take a look at triggers like pre-insert, on-insert, post-insert and key-commit.
What's happen there?
I don't know, if the default username feature in 10g is still supported.
So may the logon ( '/' ...) fails and for this the login screen os shown.

1. In Pages 4 we could copy text with citations from another program (such as Logos Bible Software). It would properly paste the text with the citations and footnotes. In Pages 5, attempting that causes only the footnote numbers to be shown, unfortunately just part of text, not as superscripts, and none of the footnotes are shown. This makes the program unusable for academic papers or even business reports.
2. Pictures do not paste where we want them to. This was one of the features that Pages 4 had and Word did not have. Now, it just pastes over other pictures.
3. Bolding a word or statement requires clicking on style and checking emphasis. It took me over an hour to figure this out. Clicking on "B" does nothing.
While I like the clean design, these problems make Pages 5 unusable for me. So, its either back to Pages 4 or switching to Micro$$oft Word (UGH!). -
At first after opening a website, I choose Save Page As web page, complete in my hardisk folder
The file is save succesfull, and the icon is mozilla fire fox, but when i try open it by 2x clicking it
It only open firefox browser with blank page
When I choose open with... use firefox as default, it open a search engine with the address to the file in my folder
When I open it using chrome, it open with no problem, just like when it is offline
Can you help me? thanks beforeCan you open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"?
It is possible that the default browser isn't set correctly and that that makes double-clicking or "open with" not work.
