Unable to close the posting periods in MM

Hello
while using MMPV the system says that the date not current calender year. If I check OMSY the open year is 2002.I need to know that how you close the open periods of previous years.I am supposed to close all the periods one by one but how to close them for the year 2002.
I tried to initialise the periods as well but the system asks me to check OSS notes 487381 before initialisation.
Please guide me as I've read all the threads related to this error but still unable to close the periods.

Hi,
You need to close the periods one by one from 2002. There is no other way.
Go to OMSY check what is the current period,
e.g it is 02/2002.
then got MMPV,
Enter 03 and year as 2002 then execute, repeate till 12/2002,
then again start MMPV from 01/2003 to 12/2003. you have to perform this till current period of 2008.

Dear SAP gurus,
I want to restrict some users to open the posting period and for some users close posting periods. I knew that these can be done through authorization group. Pls explain how to create authorization groups and how to use those? Anybody can help me out?

Dear Venkatareddy,
There are two sets of period in OB52. The first set of "From" and "To" is for the authorised group and second set is for the non authorised group. In the "Authorisation Group" (last column) give some 4 charecters name. Say "FICO".
Now ask the basis to attach the object "FICO" for the users who are authorised say user1, user 2 and user3.
Now in the first set of period you can maintain say 1 2008 to 16 2008 and in the second set 1 2008 to 1 2008.
So except user1,2 and 3, all the others can post only in 1 2008. Whereas users 1,2 and3 can post in all the periods of 2008.

Please check what is the entry you are trying to make. The posting date that you have provided in F-02 should be 05/02/2002 as the error message is saying that the current fiscal is different. So please provide more information on what is the entry you are trying to post.
You could however run some preliminary checks with tcode OB52. Check the variant assigned to the company code with the path Financial Accounting->Financial Accounting Global Settings->Document->Posting Periods->Posting Periods. Then in OB52 check what are the periods open for that variant.

Error in Opening the Posting Period.

Hi All,
The Current period in the system is 10 2009.
The Previous period in the system is 09 2009.
When trying to open the posting period 11 2009 ( through MMPV ), system throws an error saying "The specified year 2009 is not the current calendar year" and then a log is issued.
Can anybody help me in this. Please...

Thanks Everybody for your help. It was resolved.
The Periods in the Fiscal Year Variant (Z1 is my case) were not maintained for the Calendar Year 2009.
Maintenance was done in SPRO in the following path ( Financial Accounting/ Financial Accounting Global Settings/Fiscal Year/ Maintain Fiscal Year Variant (Maintain Shortened Fisc. Year) ).
And after this I could close and open the periods in the system.

Revert the posting period

How to Revert the posting period? eg: if the posting period is dec 2007 how to change that to current month?

You need to initialise the posting period through MMPI todo that the following steps needs to follow
1)once you close the period it will raise data inconsistency for that you need to miantain the MMPI_READ_NOTE with current date format in your User ID
Then only system will allow to initialise

Change the posting period

Hi Gurus,
Can any one help me with changing the posting period of the company which is by mistake take as 12/2009 and i want to change it to 08/2008. I ahve already done some material movement in this and the system is not letting me change it in OMSY. Can i use MMPV to close this period and the use MMPI to open the new period as 08/2008. As this will be in past if compared to the current period in system, will there be any problems??

It is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period.
If there has already been postings after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
Steps are as below;
Go to Transaction Code SE38
Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/03/2008 for Mar. 2008 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of Feb 2008 as well as Mar. 2008
Refer SAP Note No. 487381 for more details.
As per SAP Notes 487381 ( If the periods are opened in advance in mmpv to again change it to current period the following process should be follow ), Go to Tcode MMPI, then go to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that screen , under the parameters tab enter MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and enter, then under short description you will get Initialise period. Next Save.
Again go to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute.

Other way of doing it is follow these steps( But try this method in Sand box Only):
1. Go to OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
2. Go to OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

1)Certain group of user will allow for posting only normal periods
and
2) Certain group of users will allow for posting normal and special periods

If only a limited set of users is to be able to post in a particular
posting period, proceed as follows:
Add the posting period authorization (authorization object
F_BKPF_BUP) to the authorizations of the selected users. Assign an
authorization group (e.g. '0001').
Enter the account type '+' for the posting period variant to which
the restriction is to apply. Enter the period(s) whose use is to be restricted in the first period, those which are available to all
users in the second period, and the authorization group (e.g.
'0001') in the last column.
For this you need to consult with Basis people authorization matrix.

MMPV (to open current period)
Logistics->Materials management->Material master->Other->Post to prev.period
MMRV (shows what is open)

I am unable to close the order ...system hown this error messgae please any one guide me in this issue

Diagnosis
There are still future change records or error records to be processed from the confirmation for the confirmation processes in order 1002655. Possible confirmation processes are:
Automatic goods receipt
Backflushing
Calculation of actual costs
Data transfer to HR
System Response
You are not meant to set the deletion flag/'completed' status for orders with future change records that have not been processed.
Procedure
You should process the open future change records using
Predefined confimration process or
The CORUPROC program, by dispatching it in Customizing in a background job (dispatch background jobs: dispatching processes).
Check if incorrect goods movements or incorrect actual cost calculations exist for the order, and reprocess these if necessary:
Reprocessing incorrect goods movements
Reprocessing incorrect actual cost calculations

Unable to Close the book in Firefox

Hi,
I am Unable to Close the book in Firefox when WebHelp Pro
application is opened through the robo server 7. When i open the
help application all the books will be opened and they cannot be
closed by clicking on them. But if i open the same file i.e.,
projectname.htm directly inside the program
file/adobe/roboserver..... it opens fine with all the books closed
and can be opened on click.
Adding to this each contextual call to the WebHelp pro is
opening in a new window in Firefox 2.0.0.12. But all these works
fine with ie7. Can anybody help me out in this regard?

This sounds pretty similar to an issue that I am
experiencing.
Basically in IE5 on Windows 2000, IE6 and IE7 on Windows XP,
the table of contents appear as required - all books are not
expanded, and once the user clicks on a book, the book is expanded.
However in IE7 in Windows Vista and in Firefox on all Windows
platforms, the table of contents appears with all books expanded,
and when clicking on a book, the book will not collapse.
However if the same page is directly navigated to (e.g.
http://servername.com/dir1/index.htm)
the table of contents appears correctly (all books collapsed and
users able to expand and collapse a book by clicking on it).

How to substitute a month abbreviation for the posting period in a query

Hi,
I have a query that lists the Posting Period (0FISCPER3) characteristic in the rows and key figures across the columns. Is there a way to display the Posting Period as a month abbreviation instead of a number?
So for example, instead of displaying the periods 01, 02, 03, 04... in the rows, I would like to display the abbreviation of the corresponding month, for example Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep... etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. If the master data texts are updated for characteristic "0FISCPER3", this would assume that all Company Codes have the same Fiscal Year Variant. What happens in a situation where there are multiple Company Codes with different Fiscal Year Variants, a case which is common for multinational companies?
Can such a manipulation be performed in the query itself based on the Fiscal Year Variant?

I get the problem with posting period. I ready open the posting period for 2014. The posting periods should be set per month and have erroneously been defined as per year.
