Unable to complete recovery to factory settings

Hi, my HP notebook has been crashing for some time now so I decided to reset it to default. I click System Recovery and carry on without backing up my files (all I need I have on a pendrive). It starts off, gets stuck on 1% and then this message comes up:
Recovery Manager could not restore your computer using the factory image. Please contact HP support. Error code: 0xe0ef0003.
I'm really scared, what do I do?

Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps might help you resolve your issue.
Please run the Hard drive & Memory test on the unit and check if both are working fine if any fails then you need to replace the part.
Testing a Hard Disk using the Built in Self Test
You May need to order a set of HP restore discs, apparently the image on the hard drive is corrupt.
You can order recovery media here

Yes. Just make sure to deactivate the license on both systems using Apple menu --> Deactivate while one of the suite programs is running.

If it's a store's demo model then as far as I know only Apple can potentially change it's iOS version to a non-demo version - you've tried Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings directly on the iPad ?

  • HP System Recovery DVD Unable to Complete Recovery

    Hello
I am having trouble using the System Recovery DVDs on my HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx. My computer got a virus and I uninstalled Windows 7 and reinstalled it using a new copy I bought.  Currently my computer can run Windows 7 but it does not have any programs or other software installed on it. I am trying to restore my computer to factory settings using the System Recovery DVDs from HP. The DVD works until it gets to the step where it must restore files to the hard drive. About 10% into this step a message pops up that says:
    "Contact HP Support
In most cases, recovering the hard drive will fix your problems.
If your problems continue, you may need to contact HP Support. Find HP Support contact information in your PC documentation."
I have tried running the System Recovery DVDs several times and always get this message. So far I have been unable to recover my hard drive and try this process again.
    Any tips?
    Thanks

  • Unable to restore laptop to factory settings

I'm very sorry if this is a total repeat post, but everything I have read prior has been unhelpful for my situation.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S6816, and recently many of my drivers have become corrupt and the computer has been working poorly in general, so I thought restoring it to the factory settings was in order, but I have been so far unable to.
I have already backed up all of my files and tried the method of pressing F8 upon start up and navigating to the Toshiba Recovery Wizard, but when this loads it just prompts me for the recovery discs, which I don't have, and I don't think they came with the computer, which was bought in 2008.
I have also tried holding the zero key while the computer boots, but this just freezes the computer at the startup screen and does not load the recovery tool.
I still have access to my computer and have read that you can create restore discs using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator, but there is no such tool on my computer.
It looks like the problem is that either there is no recovery partition on my hard drive or it is inaccessible, and I don't have the restore discs either, so I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

    Satellite A215-S6816 Downloads
Your system is from the time when Toshiba was just making the transition to consistently putting recovery partitions on their HDDs. As well, your specifications make no mention of the including the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator software. However, the HDD recovery partition/utility is mentioned in your User's Guide, starting on page 57, with the proviso 'Available on certain models'. So, perhaps you have it, perhaps not.
Click on 'Start', type in   diskmgmt.msc  , and click on this file. If you have the recovery partition you should see at least 3 partitions, a 'System Reserved' NTFS partition with no drive letter, C: drive NTFS boot partition, and another small partition with no drive letter that is not NTFS.
If you want, attach a picture of that here for us to check. Use PrtScr (Print Screen), paste that into Paint, save it as jpg type file, and attach it back here on your next post.
If your system did not come with a recovery partition, you would have received recovery disk(s) with the system when it was new, which you apparently no longer have, assuming you ever got them.
Whether or not your system has a recovery partition, if necessary, you can still order the recovery disks to rebuild your system:

You could also try these third party recovery media suppliers. But, we have no information on them so use caution.

  • FYI Recovery to Factory Settings!! Toshiba!

Hi! I get bored and then I get dangerous. Toshiba and most other companies give you the choice to create recovery DVD's or USB . If you choose not do do that, Toshiba will send you recovery media for 30+$. You are also given the choice to create a system repair disc. Which can be very helpful when your PC won't boot. Toshiba can't force you to do that either In today's world, there will come a time when windows won't boot. Toshiba has tried to give you a way to solve this, but it's not just a one click fix. Toshiba has created a recovery partition that will restore your PC back to factory settings. So if you choose to ignore making the recovery DVD's or USB, you still have a way out. You will need to check your user guild to see how to do that. It's a little different, depending on your model number. IMHO, if you can't restore back to factory with the recovery partition, then you have other problems. It's either hardware or your recovery partition is corrupt. If you were smart enough to create the recovery DVD's or USB; then you can give that a shot, also found in your user guild. If that doesn't work, then your recovery media is corrupt, your DVD drive doesn't read the media correctly or you have hardware problems.
Hardware does fail and with lap tops, it happens a lot more. There are free programs that will test your hardware. If it's your mother board, might as well buy a new computer. If you are just a little smart you will use a third party program like Macrium Reflect or Paragon to keep a current back up image of your OS. I could explain all this in detail, but you would get bored and stop reading my thread. Log on Toshiba forum and be patience; someone will try their best to help you. Please stop bad mouthing Toshiba. They have their problems, but their are good people donating their time to help you here on the forum. If you come on here with a attitude, then please take your problem some other place.
    Dokie!!
PS I did not learn all this over night. I've been to the school of hard knocks. I love passing forward things that I have learned from others. I learn new thing every day. There are some good people here, so let them help. Be patience and we will do our best to slove your problem.

Hi ! W7&W8 have given you the option to create a system repair disc. This is a Linux based program that will get you into the recovery mode and will help you to boot if you can't boot normally. If you can't boot with this system repair disc, there's a good chance that you have hardware problems. Here's a great tutorial showing what you should exspect when you boot with the repair CD. You will need to go into F12 and boot from DVD/CD.http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/windows-7-startup-repair_2.htm
This is a great place to start if your not able to boot into Windows. You will have several optitions to try! Some times just a simple restore to a earlier time will get you going again. This can be done with the repair CD. A great tool and seldom used.
    Dokie!!
PS Hi ! After thinking this over. If you can't boot with the repair CD, you could have a corputed OS, which would be much better than hardware problems

  • T40 doesn't boot after recovery to factory settings

    Hi all,
I was going to install ubuntu for my T40. I had my system partitioned to Windows XP and Ubuntu. The windows was very slow and I decided to get back to factory settings and install only the ubuntu.
However, after running the factory setting, I can't get over the GRUB-loading process. At the startup, after the first IBM-screen there is only a message:
    GRUB Loading stage1.5.
    GRUB Loading, please wait...
After that, the whole system reboots. I can't get out of this loop.
I have tried to boot Ubuntu from CD at the start (by F12), but nothing happens. I have also tried Master boot record from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-62978 . I have also tried EasyBCD.
It seems that the system doesn't get any of these from the CD....
And, I haven't got the original Windows XP installing CD
    What can I do?

    @TuuS:
I don't belive, that this will help. Deleting all partitions will not "reset" the MBR. Grub still will be active in the MBR, if you don't use a tool which rewrites the MBR. The error still appears at the next boot.
The easiest way is the MS-DOS fdisk /mbr or - if the recovery partition of XPor Vista still exists - the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair media (Windows 2000/XP and Vista) which rewrites the MBR and re-enables the F11 - key to boot the recovery-partition.

  • Satellite a105 recovery of factorial settings

I want to know if it is possible to REset factorial settings by recovery disk after full formatting HDD, or not?
    Thx,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    answer for both is yes.
Recovery disc has 2 options... 1) restore to factory default settings (data wipe out + OS and app reinstall)
    2) erase hard disk (clearing out the hard drive content, making it a blank drive)

  • Error during Recovery to Factory Settings

    Hey
I am trying to reset my Laptop (Satellite L655-S5164WH) back to factory settings since it does all weird things after the latest Windows Update (it's suuuperslow and when I click things it doesn't react at all).
I use the "press 0 with the start button"-method and it works just fine, the recovery starts but it is stuck after 13% and doesn't go any further. After a while I get an error message (10-FC12-045D)) and it tells me to shut my computer down. And when I want to restart it I get the error message F3-F200-0002.
Any solution to this problem? Or should I just use my warranty and send my laptop in?

That could indicate a fauly hard drive. It would be best to contact support at (800) 457-7777.

  • I am unable to restore iPod to factory settings

I got my iPod touch before the OS 5 update. So it came with OS 4.
With OS 4, it worked find on my Bose SoundDock.
When it updated to OS 5, it will not play on the Bose SoundDock.
I try to do the restore to factory settings, but it keeps putting OS 5 on it. How do I restore it to its true factory settings, with OS 4 on it?
If I can't do this, then my Bose SoundDock is now a $500 paperweight.

I don't want to downgrade it, I just want it back the factory settings (that is, the way I got it).

  • Windows 7 will not allow me to recovery to factory settings

MY  DVD's will not work to recover system setup.   F11 does not work at all .. I still have the recover partition on my hard drive... Should I reformt my hard drive and use my recovery disks to get back Vista ??? This is a good one... Can someone please help me ....
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You can try this...it might work if you've not deleted the "hidden" files.
Boot to the desktop, go to the start menu, right-click on "computer" and select manage.
This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and then it will show you all of the partitions and hard drives in the unit.
Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Then reboot the notebook and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager without having to press F11.
Perform the recovery as usual and then everything will be normal again.
This will only work as long as the Recovery Partition hasn't been modified or the "Recovery" file deleted.
If you can't get to Disk Management following the instructions, try this article for help finding it.

Hi! I have connected my 4S to laptop to do software update, but it did not complete. says that phone is in restore mode and that if i continue restore to factory settings, i will loose all data. I have apps and media that I did not transfer but I don't seem to be able to get back and do this. Can anyone help?

Your data in your iPhone is losing in recovery mode, and it is hard to restore.
It is difficult to say it can recover all your data, but you can only have a try. That is a third iPhone data recovery software.

  • ITunes is saying I have to do a recovery on my iPhone 4, but doing so will restore factory settings and I'll lose photos, contacts, etc. The phone is completely frozen and I can't do anything else. Help!

I plugged my phone into my laptop this morning and it started doing an update. I walked away from my desk, came back and had an error message and a prompt saying my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. But when I click "ok" to do that it says it will restore the factory settings and I'll lose all media, data and contacts. I DON'T want to do that--the whole reason I plugged my phone in this morning was to download some new photos, so I can't lose them!
The phone isn't working...it's showing a usb connector pointing to an iTunes icon.
    Help!!!

If your phone is in recovery mode, you've already lost all data on the phone...its gone. Your only option now is to restore the phone, either from backup or as a new device.
